HORRIFFIC! DO NOT DO IT! My dish washer has been broken for over a month. I have had them them for over a year and never made a claim until now. First they tell me they have no one to service my machine. They will keep looking. Then after 2 weeks I get back in touch and they tell me to get my own person and go from there. So I get a diagnosis of parts are no longer available and to buy a new unit. I submit this statement from the repair company to select home warranty who then proceed to tell me in not covered because it's within the first 30 days of having the policy! What?! It's been 13 MONTHS! So after going back and forth with them for over a week they finally decide its covered. After much fighting for a resolution they offer me $150! I had a double draw dish washer that was $1200! They said I have to buy the dish washer out of pocket, submit the receipt then they will mess me around again until they decide to send me the 150! This to me was worthless! They were not there when I needed them. I'm just giving them money every month for nothing! I was so angry I told them I'm canceling my policy. Then they take another $75 out of my account for canceling, after I told them over and over I do not authorize this transaction especially as they owe me for the dishwasher. The woman on the phone told me she understood and was sorry. Guess what, they took the money anyway and won't give me what they owe me because I canceled before I could affort to buy a new dishwasher! Scum of the earth. And they don't have contracted service people because they don't pay them either! That's what the company told me when they came out to diagnose my dishwater. That's why no one will work with them anymore. Disgusting theiving zero integrity pieces of crap!

This company doesn't deserve one star. The positive reviews must have been posted from Select representatives as I cannot believe that they would get good reviews based on the two experiences I've had with them.
I have had the worst experience with their service. The absolute worst! I'm so upset in their lack of response and failure to provide service that I want to warn the world about them. My refrigerator has not been working for almost four weeks. They referred my account to a "fly-by-night" company that has a physical address of an empty building. In addition it does not have a live body to talk to. After I accidentally hit the cancel button instead of the confirm button for my appointment (a week after my refrigeration broke), there was no way to contact the company to correct the mistake. I contacted Select to ask them to contact the company and I spoke to a number of people who gave me the run around and I was rescheduled seven day later! Which means no refrigerator for two weeks! Technician determined I needed a part. He had to order a part and scheduled my repair eight days later (three weeks without a refrigerator). I was given a time frame of 8:00am-12 noon for service. I received a text at 12:15 stating that I was scheduled to Monday 1-5pm! I called Select each time and they told me they could not the service provider. I asked for another service provider and they said it couldn't be done. I asked for a manager three of the numerous times I called and each time they told me the manager was in a meeting. I'm still waiting for manager to call me back! I explained that I would be out of town and they said I would have to reschedule again (which would be more than four weeks without a refrigerator)! I just called another local company to repair the refrigerator and paid them $340 to stop the madness!
The worst run around experience I have ever had with a warranty company by far. I have now had 4 repairman to my home as they have sent the wrong persons out each time, 1 plumber, 2 electricians and then finally a dishwasher repairman to fix the dishwasher. I had to pay the $60 service fee each time even thou it was Select Home Warranties fault for sending the wrong technician out 3 of the 4 times. I started this claim asking for a appliance repairman. I have asked for a reimbursement for 3 of the 4 charges and have been deceived, mislead, argued with, spoken to rudely, and am now being told if I want to possibly be reimburse I have to go chase down the 3 repairmen to get invoices for the job they did and not just for the service fee that they gave me a receipt for. I asked the assumed claims person (Snowy) why they would not have that information already as I would assume that the repairman would want to be paid, I was told that does not pertain and if I want them to consider giving my money back, that is what I would have to do. I asked for a manager after arguing with the assumed claims person (Snowy) and I was not given the option they would not transfer me. This is the 3rd call I asked for a manager and was denied all 3 times.
Look at the Better Business Bureau. Over 3400 complaints filed. I talked to our State Attorney General's office and was told they get complaints DAILY. Technicians never show up, return phone calls or answer text messages. I had four appointments for four hours each and all no show. Same two companies were used to get appointments who have no online presence and out of state phone numbers. SCAM
If you have lots of free time to pursue your claims, this is the company for you. On average, I have spent 25 hours on the phone and waited six-eight months for resolution...that is IF they even paid any of what the contract says they will. It's been a waste of our time and money. BTW, the claims we had were clearly covered; I'm not writing this about something that wasn't part of the contract. If zero stars was an option, that would have been my selection.
The most apologetic representatives in the world, probably working for pennies, somewhere in India. We've been without our dryer for three months.
Bottom line, they are unresponsive, and unreliable; ghosted.
I imagine most of these companies are similar in their practices. Whatever the case, I'm onboard for a class action suit.
Select home warranty (SHW) has the worst customer service that I ever seen. It takes them a long time to review and finalize your claim. Our kitchen sink was clogged and it take them two weeks to allow the plumber to fix it. Imagine two weeks with clogged sink. Now our fridge is not cooling and it's been a week already. It takes at least half an hours to talk to someone and all the tell you is that the decision has not been made yet. They are awful. American Home Warranty is much better and quicker. Stupid me switched to SHW because of lower service call fee. Don't buy yourself a headache like me
I was having a problem with my garage door not closing properly. I contacted select home warranty and relayed my problem to them. The next day i received a service call from King Garage Doors from Bartlett Illinois, advising me they would be at my home later in the day. They kept me updated as to when service tec would be at my home. The problem with my door was taken care of. I'm very happy with the service from King Garage and Select Home Warranty.
The company refused to pay for repair which they asked me to get it done, and suggested they dont care if I dont have hot water and freeze during the coldes days between 12/18/2022-12/21/2022.
This is a terrible company. I am pretty sure the good comments are fake. They do anything they can to deny your claim. I was denied because of no maintenance records. I literally just bought the house and had only been there for maybe 7 months. My water heater was maybe a year old but it came with the house, so of course I didn't have the records.
Always an excuse not to repair or assess in person. They make up an assessment without seeing item and change excuse when I catch the in a lie (or mistake).
They have turned down every thing I have asked them to fix. Thank God I did not fall under Sean's great sales spell. I only bought one year and talked him down a few hundred dollars. He almost had me at a three-year plan, but I said no. Thank God. My water heater went out over the holidays, and if this isn't an oxymoron, they said we do not cover leaks leading to your water heater going out, L O L. Crooks and when you have a claim, you are talking to India. Do not use them, it's better to just donate your money to the needy.
I paid premiums for years and when the blower went out in my hvac system they spent two weeks giving me the run around. I supplied them with All the documents required and they continued to delay. I never spoke to a person in the US. I only spoke to people in India and Africa who were reading scripts. In the end, I paid $700 to fix my system and canceled my contact. This home warranty is a SCAM...a legal Scam. DO NOT BUY THis WARRANTY! They are lying to you.
Please. Do not trust this company. Pay the extra. Make sure claims dept is open 24/7.
They offer a lower rate, and bait you to join by allowing you to make payments. I now understand why they offer an extra month if you leave a review. They are not an honest and show no concern for their customers. Most of the reviews I read were from those as myself who had no experience with filing a claim with them.
During the coldest month yet with temp in the 20's and highs in the 50's our furnace went out. I called the same day on a Thursday and within several hours heard from an HVAC repairman. He came the next day as early as possible. He was here for several hours and put in the repairs needed around 4pm.
I called Select early Saturday morning and was told that since the order came in late and it was the weekend nobody in the claims dept could approve it until Monday.
I guess it's my mistake but when you read they have customer server 24/7 one would assume that would include approvals. NOPE!
Monday I submit documentation asked for.
Tuesday still no resolution. And was told it might not be until Wed by end of day. In their emails they state it may take 24 to 48 hours to hear back. But, end of day Wed is past that.
Also, they customer service people are always so apologetic and say they understand. If it was just an appliance broken I would have minded waiting a little. But, this is a furnace. I'm sure they are trained to be a polite as possible. But, through all my calls nothing was done. Each one kept saying it was going to be escalated and someone would get back with me soon.
Tuesday after being told it was being escalated I actually got an email from that dept with a different number to call. But, it was the loyalty dept and I was told there isn't a dept called escalations.
I cancelled my service. I was told I would receive a partial credit back. If not I'll be back to let you know. I have to wait 1 to 2 days for that email. And 4 to 6 weeks for the check.
I regret signing up with Select Home Warranty (SHW). SHW IS A SCAM AND FRAUD. I had clogged sink and it has been clogged 2 weeks now. They sent me 2 different plumbing comply to my house. The first one took my $100 deductible and made an excuse that he will get a smaller snake but did not return. He wanted $260 to remove and install my pee trap before he run the snake. I called SHW so many time and was told it was covered and I don't to pay anymore money. They sent another plumber and he needs to do a diagnosis first to unclog my sink that cost me $175. Diagnosis for what? I called SHW and was told this time that I'm only covered for $70. I wanted to cancel my policy but there is $75 cancellation fee. What a scam! The claim department agents are all foreigners and hard to understand. You can not even tallk to a manager. Don't buy their home warranty policy….YOU WILL BE SORRY!
At first it was attractive cheaper than others for the same service. I left American Home Shield because of higher cost. When I joined select home warrantee5 months ago, I filed for two services. This company's responses is terrible. Two complaints never taking care of yet they charging me monthly payments. When I got fed up with their lack of care. I decide to cancel then the surprise was charging me $75 for canceling. So I paid these scampers for 5 months with but no service and rob me of $ 75. Believe people you get what you pay for. Do Not have a policy with this company it is a waste of your money.

Horrible procedure to file claim. They want the brand, the model #, and the serial before processing the claim. After that, it takes weeks to contract somebody to fix the problem. If the dispatch CAN'T find anybody, they just leave it at that. I have to call back to find out that I have to hire somebody for repair. On top of that, they will find any possible reasons NOT to reimburse your claim.
Basically, you are buying a warranty program THAT is not going to pay you back if anything is broken.
I just signed up with this company and it has become my worst nightmare, they wont return calls, expect you to find your own technician and reimburse in 30 days, I put in a claim 2 weeks ago to get my washer fixed still waiting.
Please be aware that this company is a complete fraud. They promise you stuff on the phone that is not true. They never email you back, never tell you the truth, and scam you as well as they can.
Save your money and stay away from Home Select Warranty.
My plumber contacted select home warranty after I had a consultation. My plumber told them you can expect a little bit of leakage after the water heater breaks. They told me that it was a leak, and they don't fix leaks. I let them know that a leak wasn't the problem, They then had someone call me the next day, to try to lowball me. He told me the most his company could possibly pay would be $500. I paid $473 for The policy, with a $75 deductible. Best case scenario, I pay them no matter what.

Answer: After filing 5 claims, and one tech that wanted to pad his pocket resulting in me fixing my own leak in a toilet at my expense after paying their tech. And another tech wanting to get my pool setup for summer at150. More than I already gave for deductible she didn't fix my pump or water line to my pool. Both denied by select home Warrenty. And 3 more that I paid their techs for then had to fix it myself. Now my freezers compressor is out and they took money out of my bank account without my permission after saying they would go ahead and fix the freezer well guess what they declined it. And said it wasn't covered when in the contract it says it is. List all meat and others because of 3 weeks if waiting for them
