It's easy enough to file a claim online, but after 72 hours I still had no appointment with a technician and no estimate as to when I would receive help. I was advised to hire my own technician and then file for reimbursement. My guy came out same day I called. Still waiting around to hear from warranty company. Don't waste your money.
I spoke with Sam Mason today. He was very knowledgeable and trustworthy. I enjoyed his excellent customer service. He wasn't pushy or overbearing with his sales approach. I experienced that with another company, and the guy totally lost his sale. Please praise Sam for doing a great job.
Signing up was easy. I wanted a warranty since I live in the South and I can not be without an air conditioner. So far I haven't needed the service but it is nice to know I have it. Very nice people so far and easy sign up.
It has been 3 days and have I have still not received a call back from a claims supervisor. This is the third time my claim has been denied, but not outlined in the contract
We should not have to go DAYS without an appliance because YOU are not able to give us a PHONE NUMBER for someone to fix our issue!? This is ridiculous! I have two small children we are in the middle of a heat wave and have no refrigerator... I'm disgusted and disappointed it should not take 24 hours OR MORE to give someone a freakin phone number?!?
What an incredible experience fixing a pipe leak in my basement! I was told from the weather going hot to cold it caused pipe warping and I was covered for all repair costs. Will recommend SHW to others.
I worked here it's a big scam. They are based in a small New York office and only approve about 10% of claims, never in full. All 5 star reviews are there because customers get a free month of useless coverage for posting a good review. Everything is indeed written in the T&C but good luck getting a hold of that.
No matter what the issue is they find a way not to repair or replace. Will never purchase a warranty from them again.
Beware of their T&C's. This company has a limit of $500 on appliances, but what is worse they depreciate on that limit and not the replacement cost of your appliance. If you have a $2000 refrigerator that is 5 years old with a life expectancy of 10 years (50%) instead of repairing they would pay you $250 (if repair cost equal or are greater than) not $1000 or even the $500 max limit. They determine age based on manufacture date not sale date, so if in a warehouse for a year or longer, they could depreciate 60% or more. And if they choose to replace they would give you the cheapest model they could find not something of like kind or quality. In my case it was a Monogram convection wall oven - new they cost $3600 plus tax, they have offered $150. They depreciated their $500 allowance and not the replacement cost. They don't tell you any of this when you speak to a sales rep. Don't be fooled thinking you are getting a good deal.
Save your hard earned money. Select Home Warranty (SHW) puts a lot of effort into advertising their repair and/or replacement of your home appliances and equipment. I was very skeptical at first and after participating for the first year have come to realize that it is a SCAM. I had roof leak coverage as part of my premium package. Shortly after moving into our house we realize a roof leak and submitted a claim. SHW declined the claim. Then had issues with our HVAC system at the start of the summer with temperatures hovering around 90 degrees. We waited a couple of days without any air conditioning waiting for their recommended technician to contact us which never happened. Then they told us to contact anyone for the repairs. Another couple of days for a different company to come out but they finally arrived, diagnosed the problem and fixed it. Submitted the invoice and they said they could not process the claim because they require you to just get an assessment and send it in to SHW so that their team can review the contractors diagnosis and cost of repairs while two to three weeks go by with us having no air conditioning. Then had an issue with our 2015 Samsung refrigerator that cost over $3,000 new. Had their technician come out and the estimate for repairs exceeded $1,000. They figured after their depreciation of my refrigerator that it was only worth $225 that I could use towards the repairs or to buy a new one. Check their repair small print. They only cover repair parts not labor. Even though they claim repair or replace, their accelerated depreciation would never allow them to replace an item let alone repair. Save your money. SHW is a scam.

SELECT HOME WARRANTY IS A DISHONEST COMPANY do yourself a favor save your money and stress knowing that you being fool by trusting this SCAM COMPANY. Stay away from SELECT HW they do not have technicians as they claim, also that few companies that accept SHW are dishonest like them, they only collect the service fee which it will not cover the part that is just for diagnostic (some can give you this for free) and then they tell you they will contact you to let you know what is your part and what SHW will cover. Furthermore, they sent companies without checking their license.
I have three properties and 2 are with CHOICE HOME WARRANTY we have made several calls in one of our rental property and they honor what they advertise, is the item is cover they collect the fee $45 and the rest is paid by CHOICE HOME WARRANTY.
Please do not make the mistake I made, I am so glad I only tried them for 1 year and it is the house were we live, since we do take care of our property I only call them once but enough to discover SELECT HOME WARRANTY IS A SCAM. I lost 375.00 plus the calling fee $45 but I will post this bad review every where to avoid people making rich a dishonest company.
I am a real customer so please believe me stay away from SELECT HOME WARRANTY only their website have fake reviews. This was my mistake checked the reviews on their website but check yelp and others to find out more about this company.
After I called for my first claim, select told me they will email me when they find a technician to fix my roof. They promise 24- 48 hours. Every time I called to follow up, they gave me a run around. I told them if they fail to keep their words I will cancel the policy, two agents agree to give me full refund. I was so frustrated dealing with them, after I waited 48 hours, no email from them. I suspect I got scammed. I called select 12:47am to cancelled. They want to me call their refund team the following day. I called my credit card company to put a dispute on the charge under section 75 they fail to deliver and not live up to expectation. My credit card company promise to deal with them.
PLEASE don't use Select Home Warranty! I'm a Platinum customer and my garage door opener broke. They sent out their approved contractor. He says it can't be repaired and recommended to Select to replace for $375. Select offered me only $150! They advertise they'll replace a covered item if it can't be fixed. That's a lie! I've called and called and they hang up on me! Finally a manager calls me and says I'm only going to get $150 and I should go to Home Depot and buy a opener for $150 and install it! Seriously?! SELECT OS A RIP OFF. I'm sorry I signed up with them.
Do not trust these people to take care of anything. They will look for an excuse to not cover a majority of the claims, and the contractors they use are terrible. I had a plumber cancel on me twice and then no showed the third time. I had my dishwasher fixed only after I used my own provider and then it took 4 months to get an $85 reimbursement check. The fine print basically allows them to not cover your claim for any reason. Go elsewhere.
I moved and tried to get a refund but they told me I had a $75 cancellation fee.
Where to start? I was simply browsing online and seconds after I entered my phone number in their website, I got a call from them but using that IP trick to make it look like the call was coming from my home area code (Red Flag). The salesman was really pushy (Red Flag), but effective, and sold me on a 3-year + 6 free months policy for $1050. The contract wasn't supposed to start until two weeks from now but the second I hung up the phone, the charge went through (Red Flag). The sales person told me that the policy was transferable, but I read the policy and it clearly said not transferable (Red Flag). I was told that I could cancel with a pro-rated refund, many reviews stated that would not happen from their experience (Red Flag).
After reading all of the poor reviews, I called back to cancel my policy, called SHW, and the cancellations department wouldn't pick up the phone (Red Flag). So I called my CC company, disputed the charge before it posted, and cancelled and changed my card number - since I had just given it out over the phone to a shady business.
What a waste of my time! And inconvenience with my card. And now I'm frazzled. Thank you to those leaving the feedback about their poor experiences! Probably saved me from even worse than what already went down.
My advice, do not engage, just hang up the phone!

Select Home Warranty has been the most miserable warranty program I have experienced in my life. Of everything I need fixed in my home, Select has found a way to get out of paying for it. The people at select are so incompetent that they have recently ordered an AC and Heating repairman three times to fix my refrigerator. Finally, after I hire my own repairman Select condemns my refrigerator and offers $150 to by a new one that cost $1400. 00. Haven't got that money yet. I have a washing machine that is broken. Select refuses to take a claim on it. For you do-it-yourselfer, beware. I am an AC / Heating and repair man retired. I have done the annual service and check of my own AC unit for years. My AC unit gets better care than most because they get pampered to last longer than most. Recently, My AC blower motor went out and a claim was filed with Select. Because I didn't have proof the unit was service past three years, they will not cover the cost. There is a whole lot I don't understand about this Company. Here is how they sell their warranty.

A call place to Select Home Warranty. Problem with my refrigerator. Supposable a licensed service technician was call. No one showed up. Contacted Select Home Warranty two additional times. The same thing happened, no one showed up. This went on for about 10 months. I called Select Home Warranty again. This time, I received a phone number of the licensed service technician. I call the technician immediately. The Technician stated that his business was two hours from my home address. That he could not come and look at my refrigerator. I called Select back and they contacted the technician and the same was expressed to Select. Select contacted another Technician. I called this technician to find out he only works on AC and Heating units. Not Refrigerators.

Used, or should I say tried to use, service contract. Dishwasher failed. Service tech came out and diagnosed problem as circuit board. Was told I would receive authorization in 24 to 48 hrs. After 48 hours I called them and was told it was in authorization. After 72 hrs I called and was told it was still in authorization. After 4 1/2 days I called and was told the repairs would cost more than the replacement cost of the dishwasher. Was told that because the unit was over 5 years old(I purchased it new in Dec. 2016) I would be receiving a check for $185.00 dollars for replacement of a $500 dishwasher. This company will give you the run around all day long. You won't get past the out of country call center to speak with anyone in authority. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY, TOTAL RIPOFF.

Answer: After filing 5 claims, and one tech that wanted to pad his pocket resulting in me fixing my own leak in a toilet at my expense after paying their tech. And another tech wanting to get my pool setup for summer at150. More than I already gave for deductible she didn't fix my pump or water line to my pool. Both denied by select home Warrenty. And 3 more that I paid their techs for then had to fix it myself. Now my freezers compressor is out and they took money out of my bank account without my permission after saying they would go ahead and fix the freezer well guess what they declined it. And said it wasn't covered when in the contract it says it is. List all meat and others because of 3 weeks if waiting for them
