I chose Select Home Warranty because of their competitive pricing. Compared to other home warranties, they seem to have the best prices for almost identical coverages. I was glad I signed up over the phone as their customer service was able to help me with a couple of concerns I had about the plan.

I had a question regarding my warranty and had only a wait time of less then 2 minutes before getting connected to a representative. I was pleasantly surprised for such a short wait time in this COVID year. I got my queries answered in a quick 5 min call and was happy with the info.

After calling, it was easy to get my claim filed. There was no problems. Easy process. I received my email confirming my claim. I am just waiting on the technician to call to set up an appointment.

AC unit

Called to make a claim and they said it would take 24-48 hours for a response. I waited but the next day the house was so hot and with it being Texas the temperature was upwards in the 90s. Called again to see if we could go ahead and call our own technician and they said yes. Sent me an email for an authorization amount and prior to fixing the unit call for another authorization of the diagnosis. My technician was able to identify the problem so I called Select Home Warranty again for authorization. Since the department was closed because it was Sunday they said as long as you have the first emailed authorization it will be covered. The technician went ahead and completed the work. I sent over the receipt/invoice the same day and was approved for full reimbursement 5 days later. Then a reimbursement agreement was sent in my email 3 days later and I should receive a check within 30 days.

It was a fairly decent process: no complaints. The issue was taken care of and I was fully reimbursed.

I called Select Home Warranty to start a claim for a refrigerator problem. The associate walked me through the process of scheduling with a contractor that Select Home Warranty will find within 48 hours, I pay a $75 service call fee, and Select Home Warranty will pay for repairs or replacement. She gave me a claim number, which was also emailed to me. The email stated I could get 1 extra month for free if I did a review. So far, I am satisfied with the service.

Just signed up. They offered good coverage at a good price. It was a little "creepy" that I had to enter my contact details just to see their price on their website and within a minute or two somebody called me. A little too push IMHO, but they ended up working out a deal with me and using coupon codes and such to get me a solid deal that beats the average new customer deal, so I was happy about that. I had AHS for 3 years prior and have had to use them once or twice and the experience with any Home Warranty company is "meh" your mileage may vary. I don't expect anything better, or worst, from SHW vs AHS. I'm hoping they're not worst though. I will read over all the fine print. I don't like how pushy they are or that they require payment before you see the contract, that's annoying, but they have a 30 day full money back guarantee and I put it on the AMEX so if they try to screw me in the contract fine print or not letting me cancel, I'll just reverse the charge.

The customer service I received from this company was amazing. My rep was Abraham and he called me as soon as I signed up to get a quote. His response time was amazing for other questions I had about the warranty service. I truly appreciate the great service I received. It doesn't happen often these days!

I called in my first service repair due to a/c not cooling. Upon arrival, the technician for the company said he did not think the company affiliated with Select Home Warranty any longer even though I was given their name by Select Home Warranty when I called in the repair. I called and the representative contacted the service repair technician and they agreed that the service call should be paid by me and a copy of the receipt be submitted for reimbursement. I submitted the invoice and was notified that I would be reimbursed for the repair (hopefully soon) which is not ideal, but am hopeful this won't be a recurring issue in the future.

We were concerned because our old home warrantees expired in different months. We did not want to have policy lapses but still wanted to get multiple home discounts if we switched. Agent was very helpful allowing us to schedule or new coverage dates to match or old expiration dates and still get all available credits and discounts.

Initial contract

The gentlemen on the phone was polite and courteous. I wish a drafted contract though could have been provided before purchase, because I see later that the policy I purchased for just over $1,000 has a limit aggregate of $11,000. There are only so many questions that you can think of on the fly. That would have made me reconsider my purchase.

1. My initial call inquiring on fees/coverages spoke with Steven in sales, In 10 minutes he wants to get down to business asking for my payment to buy their 6 years services, any more questions on coverage GO READ terms & conditions ON YOUR OWN. I wasted 15 minutes of my time feeling frustrated.
2. Same conversation with Steven about their free roof coverage, he said it's a USELESS COVERAGE THAT's why it's free. Select only pay for leak patch, regardless if it caused any electrical OR cable shortage & plywood needed before synthetic paper cover the leak AND broken/ missing tiles are NOT included. That tells me Select only perform temporary fix NOT TAKE CARE OF PERMANENT FIX.
3. I called back asking for COMPLAINT DEPARTMENT email, spoke to Issac whom was gentle & patient in calming me down. Issac convinced me to buy service from them & assure me their service is good once I tried. He even said consumers can FREEZE the plan indefinitely not wasting plan time if encounter job transfer needed to work out of State for a period of time such as 1-2 year work transfer or taking 6 months vacation away from home. That adds more point.
4. Just saw the review that if you use own licensed/insured contractor pay out of own pocket first, SELECT only reimbursed part cost, LABOR COST NOT INCLUDED. This is a little tricky, I will call Issac to find out tomorrow. He said worked for SELECT for 9 years and SELECT from New Jersey only in Home Warranty business for 9 years too. He should know the answer.
5. Per review, their Customer Service took forever to answer call & hung up on customer to avoid complaint or future claim; reimbursement CHECK of service took more than 6 weeks. Many questions to clarify with Issac. I will also call Customer Service tomorrow pretend inquire a claim to see how they respond to us in term of needs, otherwise, I'm stuck with them for 6 years if Service Department not as good as what Issac, the sales representative said.
