Not worth it!

They are a waste of money and time! If I could give them less than a star I would. First they talked you into the coverage that sounds amazing. They don't disclose the contract until you have purchased already. They promised repair or replacement but that's not the real deal. After you purchase the coverage you have to wait 30 days and then you also have to wait another 30 days to get full coverage per paragraph 10.1 (see screenshot of email). On top of that the limits that are stated are not worth it. A bought additional coverage for my pool claiming that they will replace items if they break. They won't and if you get anything they will limit it to $400. That's nowhere close to the cost of replacing a pool pump. Again not worth it! Heed my warning.

BEWARE

Select Home Warranty, are the biggest crooks in this business. I've been with this company for almost 2 years. I've had several claims none of which were paid or fixed. My ice maker needed repair, I was told it was not included as part of my refrigerator. I did read the small print in the contract. Then I needed my Air Conditioner repaired SHW contacted me said the unit was too old and not covered.
THEY ARE BEING SUED IN AZ. BEWARE

Total scam

Signed up for there home warranty and 40 days after paying them over $500 dollars for one year coverage. My freezer in my refrigerator quit getting cold so I called them to have it looked at and they sent a guy out he said it needed a couple parts and he would order them and let me know. Today select home warranty sent me a email stating my refrigerator is not covered due to being within my 30 day coverage. I called and told them it was over 30 days from when I signed up and payed. Then they explained the first 30 days is a trial period and then another 30 days until coverage would begin just another way for them to get out of any coverage total scam do not use this company

When selling you a contract they will tell you they will repair and take care of everything once they get your money you can forget it once you call them with a problem I gave you a run around they won't repair or take care of anything or any of your calls if you called then you'll be on hold for hours

This is company from hell.
I do not write many reviews but this one deserves my time.
My A/C unit went down and this is in the middle of summer in 100+ daytime temps in AZ. I immediately called "Select" to have someone come and repair it. The local repair company that they chose was not able to show up the next day but showed up the day after. ( Not the local repair company's fault)
The kind repair man noted that a part had to be replaced to make the A/C work and told me that for him to replace it I would have to get approval from "Select", then call him and schedule an appointment.
When I called "Select", they said that it would take 24-48 hours for their team to approve a $269 part.
I was naturally upset and explained that time was of the essence especially since the temps where I live were in the 100's. There seemed to be no sign of urgency or concern on their end and the rep said that they had to follow policy ( total indifference)
They finally approved it after I had talked to various reps multiple times that day and the repair man showed up promptly the next morning.
I was hoping for a resolution in the matter but the repair guy found another bad part. Once again I went through the same torture with "Select" they still have not approved the second part which by their admittance is fully covered under the warranty.
It is now 9 DAYS since I have been living with a dead A/C unit with no resolution in sight.
I finally got an email from them saying that they have mailed out the part that needs to be replaced and that once I get it, I would have to contact the service company to replace it.
If you would like to go through what I have gone through by all means go ahead and sign up with these losers.
Today I called to cancel my coverage and for a refund of the unused portion of my warranty. They naturally tried to talk me out of it and when I was clear that I wanted out, could not give me a straight answer on how much money would be refunded back.
It would take 24-48 hours for them to get back to me about the refund.
Why is is so hard for this company to be transparent and honest with their clients?
Take my advice and STEER CLEAR.

The absolute worst company in USA they have the salesman that over talk the customer and steers the conversation for the benefit of the salesman. They are only looking out for themselves and their numbers, they lied about full refund within 30 days if you pay the full year. This Company is a SCAM and crooked. DO NOT USE SELECT HOME WARRANTY because they will "SELECT' not to listen to you 'SELECT' not to handle your claim, and 'SELECT' NOT TO HEAR OR CARE ABOUT THE CUSTOMERS/HOMEOWNERS. I AM FILING A COMPLAINT- IVAN IN RETENTION IS HORRIBLE, REFUSED TO LISTEN TO CUSTOMER, REFUSED TO GIVE TRANSFER OVER TO MANAGERS. REFUSE TO CANCEL POLICY.
TERRIBLE TERRIBLE TERRIBLE TERRIBLE.
They sell you with money back guarantee but when you cancel within the specified time, they charge you a cancellation fee plus prorated amount.

IVAN placed me on whole and left the call in hopes that I will hang up the phone because he refused to transfer me over to his manager, plus to provide me with his managers name and he wanted me to disconnect the call so it will not be on him for 'disconnecting' the call.

As a Realtor, I've had dealings with many home warranty companies and this is by far the worst one out there. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY - they will say they will "repair or replace" but when it comes time for a big ticket item, they will find some loophole in order to not pay out. In my case, my HVAC system completely failed - even though their own technician said in the diagnosis that the damage/failure was not caused by "freon or a freon leak" SHW has denied my claim saying they don't cover any HVAC issues relating to freon. WTF? Now I have a $11k HVAC replacement bill to pay for out of pocket - and I will be seeking legal advice to sue this horrific company. Stay FAR FAR AWAY! Wish I could give zero stars.

I was told from salesman that unit would be replaced if it couldn't be repaired. 3200. 00 bill they paid 150.00. They don't tell you they determine the depreciation of unit. And yoy pay a 75.00 deductible so in truth they paid out 75.00 towards a 3200. 00 bill that the salesman makes you believe will be 100% covered. The select home warranty cost me 650.00 a year. So it is a major SCAM stay away. I've filed a review with the BBB as well as a claim.

Awful - stay away

Truly awful!
First, they didn't issue my policy after it was paid through escrow. I had to track down the salesperson (who is no longer with SHW) in order to get my already-paid-for policy issued.

Second, because they didn't issue my policy on-time, when I had a fridge die 4 months after moving in, they told me I was within the 90 days window in which they only cover $150 instead of the $750 provided-for in the policy. Terrible T&C, and made worse by delay in policy issuance.

When I finally get tired of fighting the dates, I accept the $150 and am told to wait 30 days for the check to arrive in the mail.

Third, now 60 days after my last conversation, I call back to find out the status of my check and am told I need to fill in more paperwork 'to accept my $150' claim.

What a scammy, worthless company. Stay away

They are scammers

These folks will tell you that they cover central heating and air. Will later tell you they don't cover certain parts. Dont used them they are useless. Please stay away. I have a leak and its not covered. But when i sign up they said they cover my units. These some clowns. And the joke was on me.

Complete Fraud

STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY. They look for ANY reason to deny a claim or a reimbursement and treat your issues like an absolute joke in my experience and others experiences online. Look online and you will see that you are MUCH better off saving your money to just pay for repairs yourself instead of using Select Home Warranty. This company is well known for this type of thing. It is also common to take months to get anything done IF they approve a claim. I also know this from experience. I have been out THOUSANDS of dollars due to their technicians negligence and destroying things they work on. I highly suggest you research these companies before spending your money. I know this from personal, online, and also friends and family experiences. STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY

If you are wondering and not sure which Home Warranty is the WORST, it is the
SELECT HOME WARRANTY! This is the company that is established for making money with their oily words while enrolling and NOT RESPONDING CALLS, HANGING UP CALLS, NO COURTESY BULLYING NATURE! This company SELECT HOME SERVICE does not pay for technician's service, they ask customers to pay the Technician's fee including the service call fee at front and say they would reimburse BUT this Company DOES NOT act as promised! They DO NOT pay for parts, NEITHER FOR REPAIR NOR REPLACEMENT. SO IF ANY BODY IS SHOPPING FOR HOME WARRANT this is NOT the one YOU are looking for!

After a year of "coverage" from Select Warranty" with 3 issues reported to them, our final result is ZERO appliance repairs accomplished, over 20 hours wasted on phone calls, blood pressure from major frustrations spiked 20 points! This fraudulent company has no right to remain in business.
Tip: If you seriously feel the need to purchase a home warranty, the number one difference that separates decent companies from these fraudulent ones is that some, like Select, prorate their coverage on the age of the appliances that you THINK are covered for repair or replacement. Select depreciates 15% per year so a 6 year old appliance (typical age when an appliance might break) they give Zero return for. You pay more for companies that don't depreciate but otherwise, the policies are worthless.

The positive reviews about the Select Home Warranty are written by their own employees, Select Home Warranty is 100% scam, they will not fix anything and even cancel claims before they even go to your house, even after canceling you contract they keep emailing you and calling you as if you never did. The sales representatives lie on your face and promise things they won't deliver.

We have had Select Home Warranty since 2017 Never missed a payment. A few weeks ago our AC unit went out. We made a claim with Select and it started a chain of excuses not to pay. First of all they never sent a service out to see what was the problem. Then we had to send them pictures. Then we were ask to send service records for past three years. We did not have records because we had never had a problem before. Every time we called we got a different rep with a different spill. They finally said we get 150.00 to which we have never received
We just went ahead a canceled Select
I would not recommend this company as it is a scam company with excuses

I requested a balance if I cancelled my policy since they cover NOTHING. They in return refunded me the money $18 when I had 1.5 years left. They lied and said my recording stated I wanted to cancel and they will not refund me the appropriate amount or reinstate my warranty. DO NOT USE!

Please do NOT spend your money with this "Home Warranty" company. As a new customer to Select Home Warranty I am very disappointed and upset that I spent my money purchasing a policy with this company. This company has reimbursement issues, "hidden" probation periods of service, unexpected costs issues, misleading and lack of information when speaking with personnel, as well as poor communication when being transferred to different departments. In any "emergency" repair situation Select Home Warranty is NOT the company to call. Heaven forbid if there is a leak or plumbing issue in your home, you would have an entire swimming pool in your home before Select Home Warranty would send someone over to repair, IF they actually felt like taking the time out of their busy schedules to find a plumbing service nearest to you. Their "reimbursement" is a joke. They will ask for invoices indicating the service that was performed (that you pay for AFTER you pay for the policy) and will give you a refund of only $150. If anyone wanted to pay $300 - $500 for a home repair, then a home warranty policy wouldn't be needed. Long story short, I felt like I had been duped, and wish that I had read more reviews about Select Home Warranty company before I signed up with this circus. One pro to this company is that they have a hell of a sales team, because the person that sold me the policy did a great job of selling the paper that the policy documents were printed on, and an excellent job at concealing what a fraud Select Home Warranty company really is.
