When I was a kid, we loved Schwans. You picked out what you wanted and the delivery person went out to the truck and you were done. Back then it was delicious. So I get a coupon and I think about past positive experiences and I bite. I place my order on December 19th, thinking it would be nice to have specialty items for the holiday season. When I get to the end of the ordering process, I learn the delivery will be Dec 28th. OK, won't be here for Christmas but still before New Years. They said the delivery will be between between 2 pm and 5 pm so we wait, we put a freezer duffel outside our apartment door, in case we don't hear a knock at the door. At 6:15 pm, I call the 800 number - customer service guy starts counting how many orders are before ours: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10 and then stops counting out loud as he realizes this ins't sounding good. To make a long story short, our food never came. So, when they open on the 29th, I call again to find out when our order will be delivered. The customer service lady informs me that the driver noted that we weren't home. Total lie. We were checking the hallway outside our apartment every 10-20 minutes after my first call to customer service. She says my next delivery date is January 8th! That is 3 weeks after I placed the order! I cancelled the order and my account and will never bother ordering from Schwans again. Will never recommend them. What used to be is no more. I don't even know if the quality is what it used to be.
I remember as a child how delighted I was when we got our delivery from Schwan. However I recently placed an order through their online store and all I can say is don't waste your time. Order was placed Oct. 30 for delivery Nov 7 between 2 and 5. Waiting all afternoon for delivery no one showed up no communication from company, no way to see on app where or when they are coming. Called the 800 #, shortly after delivery window and was told sorry for inconvenience but the truck hasn't moved all day, we can reschedule for the 12th of Nov. Between 5 and 8 pm. Waited for window to pass on the 12th, still no delivery, another phone call another apology driver is running late but will still deliver. When I went to bed at 11 pm still no delivery nor by 11:00 am the next morning. One more phone call with more apologies and a new delivery date of the 14th of Nov. Which I declined. Canceled my order and informed the supervisor that I would never order from them again. Between the waiting for delivery and on extended phone calls, hold time included, I wasted about 7 hours for products not recieved and sorry about the inconvenience from the company but no action on their part to resolve the situation other than me waiting through another delivery window with no guarantee of receiving anything other than more wasted time.
Your business went downhill your prices went up you can't even get your deliveries on time it's two weeks for me waiting for my meals after you took my money and screwed up my bank account worst business I rather go to Walmart use people will be going out of business just like the milk drivers no more home deliveries and you'll be closing just like Kmart do us a favor and put us of a misery
I ordered from here two times I told the guy the first time to not come unless I order because they will come every week and bang on your door when he comes to more times after I already tell him not to so I call and complain then he comes again after that I've called and complained twice he comes early in the morning banging on my door waking me and both of my kids up I told them to cancel me off I will never order from again because these people obviously work off commission and they stalk the $#*! out of you
I spent 3.5 years of my life working for these psychopaths. They don't give a damn about about anything except there trucks being on the road 11-14 hours a day. All trucks have 150-300k miles and break down a lot. I did everything I could on my route to bring in sales, my route averaged about $700 a day, all they did was complain. Every day was the same old rhetoric, literally all they talked about was work minimum of 10 hours a day, stay out until 8, get upsells, that's literally every meeting every day for 3.5 years, and those meetings were an hour before your start time which was unpaid time to be at work. Managers are a joke, they have no clue what it takes to run a route, complete psychopaths who had no business being in a position of management. You barely had time to get your route done and forget having a lunch break. I almost got killed twice, I'm not kidding, I had two different trucks break down, both had issues the home office knew about but refused to fix, in one truck the transmission failed after slipping for over a year, I was going uphill and the truck rolled backwards, in the second truck the fuel pump was acting up, it died on the interstate, I lost power steering and in trying to get onto the shoulder was almost hit by a semi. Please don't buy food from these people. A lot more happened in the 3 years I was there but these major issues led to me quitting.
Terrible customer service they don't answer the phones at the account service department. And don't waste your time leaving a msg. They don't return the calls. If you call the order line it is a different company and they can't help customers with issues so why even have this team.
This home delivery service charges high prices for horrible food products. You can buy similar items at the grocery store for a third of the price.The beef is dark red in color and of questionable quality.The food is all frozen and tasteless.The mini-pot roasts are not fit to be served to canines. Steer clear!
I just sent Schwan's an email saying what I will say here tonight. I placed an order a month ago and my delivery date FINALLY come due, it was to be delivered tomorrow evening. Because I don't get home from work until after 7pm, I took the day off from work so I would be here and not miss the delivery. I realized I forgot to add our favorite pie, added that to my order and it changed my delivery date to ANOTHER MONTH off at Dec. 16th. If that order is not delivered tomorrow as it was set to be, I will never place another order again, nor will anyone I know! This is absolutely ridiculous. That will put my order being delivered 2 months after I placed it because I hand the nerve to want to add something to my order. I AM DONE!
Stacy in customer service was very rude and difficult to work with. I will no longer be able to do business with a company who chooses to employ rude people. It's unfortunate for the guys in the field who suffer the consequences from rude customer service.
I have happily been purchasing from Schwan's at least 14 years steadily... great service and good food. First I'll say my recent experience was partly due to the confusion over the fuel charge for not preordering. I knew I would be charged so when my bill was ridiculous, I thought Schwan's had lost their mind considering the very low cost of fuel. I was offered no receipt so I assumed as in the pass if not offered one it was in the bag but no. My items were in the bag but so were extra items. Obviously I had been charged for them. On a personal note, I have found their drivers polite and respectful but not this particular man. He had been smug and condescending from the first moment. I ignored it as a clash of personalities. I'm sorry I was ever so higher minded. I'm also sorry for the Schwan's men who do great work when this man is actually a cherry checked con.
Personally, I like that Schwan's changes things up from time to time (as opposed to previous reviewer)--they have some great specials and new items, which I apreciate. Driver is always timely, courteous and friendly. The kids love everything we order! The boneless skinless breasts are a staple--thanks Schwans!

Do no longer carry #574 Jumbo Tail-off Shrimp, and no fettuccini or marinara sauce
No won-ton soup that goes so well with the orange chicken etc. What has happened? We like the food and we are so so disappointed! The won ton soup was delecious. Should I stop buying from Schwans?
Been using them over ten years, love the chicken 502. Ice cream miniatures are awesome. Chicken Fries are the only meat my son has ever eaten or will eat! Thanks! My driver rocks! Thanks Tom
Answer: Very slow contact response. I spent several hours communicating my issues to them. Was not provided an acceptable resolution so I just canceled my orders and won't buy from them again.
