They say they support the dog sitters but when I ran into difficulty - response was
Honey, we are not an insurance company and they hung up.
I was with a dog that bit me so I had to wear oven mitts to feed him and he bit the paper girl. Horrible company I admit the accident was my fault but they should carry insurance. End of dealing with them.
The second time I used my Rover sitter, I picked up my two pups. One had the beginnings of an eye infection in both eyes and the other had an abrasion on his chin, constant licking and jaw problems. Took both pups to the vet the next day. Both were put on antibiotics. Contacted Rover sitter who couldn't tell me who to contact, etc. Then he wrote me another text, asking for vet costs. He denied my bills (not that I asked him to pay them), saying other dogs tear up his yard and house, and it's part of the package. He also said my pups were sick when I dropped them off probably, as they didn't have problems at his house. How in the world can you not see yellow bacteria coming out of both eyes? I emailed Rover twice before they responded and now will only look at my claim if my vet bills are over $250. Terrible customer service and I will not use this sitter again. I even gave his pup a bag of rawhide sticks and took a baby present to his newborn baby. So much for my kindness. I get 2 sick pups in return. I had pictures and video of my pups but they didn't seem to care that my pups were hurt. Run!
I've tried a few different sitters and found one very good one and another one who is just ok but with much higher prices. The last sitter that I tried to book changed her price after an agreed price was already paid. I didn't like the 50% increase so the booking was canceled as a result I lost half of the money that I paid. Be careful of the person that you hire and beware of any last minute price increases.
I used this site a few times and had good service from one sitter however she was unavailable and we used another that I was hesitant to use again but I was under pressure. 2 pairs of shoes were taken from my house and when I confronted the sitter she asked for proof and when I called to complain to Rover they have simply done nothing and didn't follow up with me unless I contacted them. I'm so angry, violated and disgusted that I paid someone to come to my house and simply look after my puppy and ended up robbed. I can only be happy nothing happened to my puppy. I wouldn't recommend this site to anyone and if you contemplate using it, use it at your own risk- buy cameras and locks! I put 1 as a rating otherwise I'm not allowed to post this, but I'd really like to put 0
They are a nightmare to deal with. I boarded this demonic dog who had severe separation anxiety and would destroy anything it saw. Constant howling, whining and barking followed by destroying items. I called the owner and Rover support and had zero help. Rover basically told me to stick through the entire booking. Then later that night the owner decided to pick up the dog before discussing it with me. She then modify the booking 7 hours before its completion and got a refund. I looked after the dog and lost earning for that day. Rover says its policy so sitters take a loss. Bottom line is you are better off finding jobs on fb or craigslist. They don't take a cut and you don't have to go thru the bs
Been trying to register with this company but site doesn't seem to work. I am amazed at the number of complaints and the problems people are having with them.
Tried Rover for the first time a few months ago. Our first sitter was absolutely horrible. We could not have had more clear care instructions for our 8 week old puppy. Not only did she completely leave the puppy alone all day, she didnt feed him and the puppy got majorly sick all over our house. She lied about it when we confronted her even though we had time stamped security footage. We reported her and Rover did LITERALLY nothing. We tried using Rover again with a different sitter. First experience wasnt bad, but these people run this like a business taking 15-20 dogs at a time. The second time with that sitter, our puppy got sick. We wrote the sitter about our dog potentially eating something weird or maybe another dogs food. She got confrontational with us and accused us of being the problem. Will literally never use this app again. Horrible sitters. I have no idea how they pre-screen these people. $#*!ty human beings with no moral conscious.
I used the service for the first time to board my beagle so I could attend funeral services for my in-laws. With in 24 hours my dog was hurt. I came home as quickly as I could ( over 900 miles away we drove) and took her to my vet. My dog ( not even 2) tore her acl and Rover says oh well we are not responsible OMG!
Rover talks a good game that they are there to help if there are any problems. Satisfaction guarantee and all that BS. But when the rubber meets the road and you ask for a refund they tell you "all our sitters are independent contractors, you should call them directly and work it out" I could not be less pleased w/ the service I received or the customer service Rover try to dole out to me after there was a problem. Buyer beware!
There was a misunderstanding with one of persons I sat for and despite my spotless record, many great reviews and a $#*! ton of apologising, Rover decided to indefinitely kick me off the app. I hate this company and they put me through hell.
They also take a really hefty fee off your pay and just aren't there to support you. They support the clients because they know their reviews matter more.
First of all Rover does not care. Secondly, if you do not have someone monitoring their coming and going/ or have a smart home system, you will not really know what that particular sitter is doing. I rater our sitter last year a 5-star but that was BEFORE I had my smart home system. Last week when I sued the same sitter, gave her the same time for meal plans (early morning feedings) (4-5 PM dinner), visits 3-4 per day, I had my video camera and lock system show that she averages 5-7 minutes per visit (this is with 2 dogs). Had to text her to see if she was ever going to come on some mornings, did not show ups to around noon on some days. Most likely my review will not show up on rover as a poor review as all you see is the 5 star ones. She actually had asked me if she could have her boyfriend do one of her visits for her, someone I and my dogs never met. My wood floor was ruined due to her timely visits and the one dog having accidents. If you need further info regarding this visit, texts I received from the sitter, her excuses and so on, I will gladly share. Just warning you really check out your dog sitter before leaving them with someone. This particular dog sitter lady goes my Juliana M of Macomb, MI
First, these people on rover are independent contractors. They do not work for rover. They just use rover to promote their business and if simeone books through rover, rover gets a percentage. You need to understand that many of the reviews can easily be faked. The credentials the sitters claim are bogus. They just take an online course so they can add it to their profile to look legit. My neighbor is a sitter on rover. Has a ton of fake reviews. She keeps the pets in a crate on a back porch. Leaves the pets in their own feces and urine. Never once walks them. Has a backyard that is like a junkyard. And had her own dog taken away for neglect. These are the type of people in Rover. Sure there might be some good, honest animal lovers on rover. But many are using rover to make a buck. Rover does not properly vet these people. If u must have a stranger watch ur pet, then go to their house. Check out their backyard. If they dont take care of their house/yard, then they probably arent taking care of ur pet. Dont rely on fake reviews and pictures.
I have tried to contact someone at Rover.com with a couple of questions and I get no response. Other than that, I have had nothing but good experiences with the nice clients that I have and repeatedly work for. I sit in my client's home and have had no issues with the animals or their parents. I just wish someone at Rover would respond to my questions.
I don't know if Rover.com is paying for good reviews, or simply found a way to have the best ones show until you scroll way down as far as you can go, but; My best friend and buddy for life all but died yesterday while in the hands of an Rover.com participant while I was in surgery at the local VA hospital. I unfortunately had to leave the recovery room early to find and tend to her. The poor thing still cannot walk this morning and I have already deleted the app. It is so nonfunctional anyway. Between serious sign in and touchscreen issues only found on Rover.com I give up. Kick this app to the curb and find a better one!
Horrible company. No quality of caregivers. They only want money and don't care if your dog suffers or dies.
Rover is an app that has independent contractor's so they're not liable for anything. Even with a 5 star rating as a pet sitter, don't trust them! I told the company what happened with over $200 of items stolen and forgot to feed them a few times, they said they couldn't do anything as they're not employee's! I don't have cameras to prove the robbery. It's very upsetting to have someone steal thing's from you and take care of my pets when I trusted the app service. Disappointed.
Rover.com is a very irresponsible and unconscious company.
I booked and paid for a three-week reservation on December 2018 with many months in advance.
The drop-off day, this Rover.com bad sitter did not show up in the house he lived, no answering phone calls, nothing.
I needed to take my flight in the next hours, and Rover only offered me to re-book with a 4-times bigger pricing to be paid by... ME AND ONLY ME!
I had to spend more than $1000 dollars in Xmas with a non-Rover emergency sitter.
In compensation, Rover.com only offered a ridiculous $20 gift card that, by the way, expired in December 2018!
I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY AT ALL!
Had a rover sitter baby sit my dog while I was on vacation. My dog got diarrhea, I know it's from eating something she shouldn't of had! They would send pics of her from time to time so I felt as ease but once I took her home she was sick, diarrhea and caught fleas! Fleas were almost impossible to get rid of! I got bit my damn self! After weeks I was finally able to get rid of it! Let's just say because of this experience. I'll never ever leave my dog with Rover again! Regardless of the 100+ possible reviews! This will only shorten the lifespan of your dog! Don't do it! And oh. I wanted to pick my dog up earlier than the scheduled plan and they wouldn't let me until a couple of hours. Then when I got to their home they were wearing Giants hat and shirt! Also looked mad because obviously they were at the Giants game and left dogs unattended! And I made them leave the game early!
Rover is an app that connects pet owners to pet sitters. I am both - a sitter and an owner - and I have had great experiences. Make sure you read the terms of service. Also, I wouldn't hire someone just because they are cheap. I'd make sure that I met them beforehand and that they had excellent reviews. It's up to you to choose wisely. The app is just a platform.
