Will not give refunds
August 15, 2022

I cancelled 2 rover bookings over 3 weeks ago and it was 8 days before the rover booking was to happen. I have called twice because I have not received either refund and I have not been issued a refund. Terrible to do business with. They are quick to take your money but don't refund your money even following their cancellation guidelines.

August 12, 2022

I have dog sat for one client Finn for 10 days and everything went smoothly. I need to find a way to get recognized in my area. So far so good. I guess we will see.

The reviews on here are absolutely insane, and not in a good way. 95% of Rover sitters are wonderful humans who care deeply about your pets. The reviews on here are clearly sabotage and paid for by other platforms. I will say that Rover as a platform is awful as they take 20% from sitters. Owners, if your sitter is comfortable, please pay them in cash. This will save you and them fees, plus Rover rarely actually intervenes when something goes wrong.

Onboarded as a sitter. No business! Have lots of exp. No traffic. They accept so many sitters that the surounding market is saturated. No business for new sitter. They probably do it to collect that fee from you. Terrible business.

Beware of using this service. Any company that doesn't allow you to make reviews on google and is not accredited with the Better Business Bureau is a red flag. If a sitter cancels on you last minute, there is no recourse to the sitter. We have had 2 sitters cancel on us at the last minute right before our trips that we had planned for months and had already spent a ton of money on. It was just, "sorry," I can't do it. We even had a girl with great reviews who the day before our trip announced that she had to bring her infant into our home. She failed to disclose this to us the two weeks prior, when we booked her, but instead sprang it on us last minute. And if that infant or sitter gets injured in your home, the sitter can actually SUE YOU. This is something Rover doesn't disclose. We filed complaints and flagged the sitters, Rover never even responded to our complaint. NOTHING, not a word. There is NO CUSTOMER SERVICE. They use the bottom of the barrel type of sitters too, people that can't get a job doing anything else. We had a sitter that brought her boyfriend to our home without our permission, and another male sitter who invited his girlfriend into our home without our permission, and we spotted it all on our outdoor cameras after the trip. Again, if either of them are injured on your property, they can sue you. This is no joke. No recourse at all to Rover or the sitters. A total racket. Another sitter who was supposed to stay overnight with our 3 dogs, she snuck out and went home at night leaving our dogs alone! We saw this on our cameras after returning from our trip. And we had no choice other than to pay for a service that we never really got because she didn't even stay overnight with our dogs! Don't use this service, find another option, and beware of your personal liability if a sitter gets injured on your property. These bottom feeder sitters could sue you for everything you've got, meanwhile you won't be able to get anyone from Rover on the phone or get a response from customer service.

F+ Rover you suck
August 9, 2022

Garbage - I hate place I took my dogs
But had little choice because as I arrived and saw the place i was already on my way to beach with family. I trusted the over 100 five star reviews. Now one dog infection that cost me $500 more than the $600 the service cost. Also just got a note FROM the person on Rover saying they are getting evicted due to home zoning law restrictions and number of pets allowed. When I look at date Of eviction it's before I dropped the dogs! Nice they turned their house into a place for dogs but it's a mess and dogs running amuck. Looks like third world country and too many dogs running around for them to control. I won't go back and I won't use rover be user they clearly are not controlling quality and their rating system is suspect.

Poor Quality Control:
In the past, I have used this pet sitting service for my 2 toy poodles (7 lbs. each) in Florida and have been happy. But the experience in NYC was extremely disappointing so I question how they screen both the sitter and the apartment the pets will be staying in. My experience demonstrated that they do a very poor job of both. Plus, some of their sitters are extremely expensive – daily rates run from $100 – $75 to care for one dog.

I was dropping my dogs off at the sitter's apartment on the Upper eastside – a very tiny and cluttered studio – only to find a huge Doberman Pincher was being cared for, in addition to her own dog. The apartment was so small and cluttered that it was completely UNSUITED for more than one small dog – meanwhile, she was going to have 4 dogs there.

The Doberman went at one of my poodles and she went into a panic and shook in fear. Thus I was unable to leave my dogs there, and Rover was unable to find a suitable replacement at that last minute – so I was really stranded. A very negative situation that makes me think I may not be using them in the future.

While they do suggest that you have a so-called "meet and greet" before booking a sitter, I was unable to do so because I was in coming from out of town. Just the same, you have to expect that Rover, Inc., has done a minimal amount of screening of the sitters and apartments.
PS I have proof of purchase but it's a PDF file that was not able to upload.

They charge you a fee for an initial background check, take your money then leave you hanging long enough to where you question them about status. While you're waiting, they send several messages telling you to "finish your profile " which was clearly saved and finished immediately after the application/ account setup... so then you're thinking there might be a glitch in their app... Another week goes by, now you're at a Month, having asked your friends and family to write reviews for you and they all have, using the special link you have to send them through the app, which now signs Them Up for unwanted Rover ads... you ask Again for status, then they tell you to contact the 3rd party affiliate who does the background checks because they might have questions. THIS IS A SCAM. A FLAT OUT PYRAMID SCHEME. NOW they won't answer Any of my emails! Absolutely ridiculous, fraudulent and all their "good reviews " are paid for. I'm considering litigation.

I signed up for Rover 3 weeks ago. I spent about an hour of my personal time setting up an account, paid for a background check, asked references to take time out of their day to write me a testimony, etc. All of this seems completely fair as I was assuming in a week, maybe two, I would begin to create my own side job. Rover has horrible customer service and would not help me process my account or tell me what the delay was for my account. As someone who needed to make some extra money and took the time to sign up for this account, it is extremely frustrating, for now it to have been 3 weeks and no update, no communication, no explanation. Do not sign up to work with Rover.

Overprice
July 29, 2022

The rate in my area is $25.00 to $30.00 minutes per visit, normally families here have more than 2 pets.
Rover might be good for someone who have 1 dog. But if you have more, found someone who will change you accordingly.
This is a second time we'll trying to used them and price was unacceptable ( in my area)
Also this fee is just to let them out on the backyard and feed them once. Three times a day, 5 days. All seniors pups. No medication o anything extra requires.

I signed up for a reoccurring dog walking booking for my very first experience and found there's no way to cancel it, I must contact the dog walker and ask them to cancel it for me, craziest thing I've ever heard of. They claim in the help section that you can cancel it but when you have actually navigate to that on the web page it tells you you must contact The Walker to cancel reoccurring reservation?

Full of flakes and tweens
July 28, 2022

When trying to find and book a dog sitter on Rover, I am frustrated by all the teens pretending to be dog experts. Beyond that, when I do make a booking request, about 1/3 of the time I get a reply that says "Sorry, I just booked another client for those dates" -- but... their calendar remains open? So it's code for "I don't wanna." Cool, but Rover should allow users to rate the flakes on their site so other users won't bother trying to contact them.

I booked with Rover a week+ in advance. Two days before the booking was supposed to start the sitter cancelled. Ok fine. However. It takes 7-10 (according to the supervisor I spoke to) business days for the money to get back into my account so unless you have the money to pay again or the time to wait for the refund to process you are out of luck. They will do nothing for you. NOTHING. Even with the money to pay again why would I? The little $20 credit added to my account was a joke. Doesn't even begin to cover half a day. Don't waste your money. Use a pet hotel or professional boarder.

I joined Rover in 2015. My clients have NEVER had an issue with my service, until I met Karen. With over 100 messages, videos, and pictures she still was not happy. She had a "welfare" check on me when I didn't respond to a text at 11:30pm (I was asleep like most people in the world) apparently I was not supposed to sleep. I was awoken by two police officers asking if I was okay. They left shortly after speaking to myself and my husband who also showed up. She knew I was there because she had been watching me sleep somehow. She texted me every hour asking for updates and could not be pleased with anything. Finally after her second attempt at calling the police (again at night) I called rovers emergency support line. I told them I didn't feel comfortable and I asked if I could leave and cancel the booking. I was told that YES I was able to leave with no consequences and they would find her a backup. I went home (I lived 4 miles away) and I called Rover again, concerned about the two dogs that needed to go out. I offered to drop in for free because I wanted her pets to be okay. At that point I had called river a third time to express my concern for her pets and was told that it would be super helpful to do so. I contacted Karen and asked if she wanted me to let her pups out because a backup sitter had not been found. She replied with NO. So I didn't. I should have known there would be issues, when we had the M&G she had told me a previous sitter had been terrible, she didn't show up, no communication etc, the very same "issues" she claimed I was exhibiting. I just got back from a vacation, ready to continue pet sitting to find my account was terminated with no chance of appeal because of safety concerns. I'm contacting a lawyer but if you use Rover to pet sit just know they will not protect you as a sitter or even an owner. They protect one thing and one thing only. The all mighty $. Be warned.

We used Rover.com for the first time and it will be the last. We landed from our flight and received several messages from our Rover provider that while she was at our home our patio door glass shattered. We reported it to Rover when we got home and filed a report. Claim denied 3 times by Rover to cover the cost of the damages. DO NOT USE ROVER.COM! $800 in repairs we are stuck with!

We had a long weekend out of town planned, gave a sitter from Rover.com a try. We have 2 small, low maintenance dogs. The sitter never walked them, left them alone on the first day for 15 hours, and on the next, had her boyfriend at our house without permission. My daughter had to go to our house to get the boyfriend out, when she arrived, both of our dogs were hiding under the table (something they never do). This was the absolute worst experience we have had. Rovers response: well they are private contractors so that's unfortunate that this happened - but no other resolve. This person should have been removed from the platform and she wasn't so this can happen to others again and again.

Zero customer service. No response to my emails. They hide behind email and the number they post doesn't work. Super frustrated with this company. Would never ever purchase from them as they took my money, I didn't receive my items and now they are ignoring me. The blocked my email. They actually blocked my email! Worse experience
I've ever had buying a product on line. They stole from me and now are blocking me.
