You have to pay to view messages not a good feature to have
I've been getting a lot of email notifications about people messaging me on the site but they are not specifically replying to my listing or post. I messaged over a dozen people and have not gotten a single reply. I don't feel that people are using the site seriously or often enough to see the messages and reply in a couple days. I also feel that the quality of the people is not high enough to expect them to communicate quickly or they may have forgotten about signing up all together.

I liked a few places and messaged them but now I'm waiting to hear back from them.
I was paying monthly and for some reason roomster kicked me off and is making my reinput my payment info again. Annoying.

Most of the messages received are spam. I would expect better filtering for the price that is charged.

My son booked a room through Roomster in Fresno, California. He is in the Navy and was restationed from Virginia Beach. Upon arriving to Fresno and the house location, after driving across country, he found an abandoned house and could not contact the people who had took his money ($800). There was no key, nobody to contact. He is contacting the police. Beware
I just st don't see what's the point of payment for this service when I can brows rooms for free else where specifically if I have to pay for a security deposit and background checks and all this stuff that's going on with the pandemic specially if you don't get excepted to the room I think is crazy you have to pay for messages
Hitting people with the charge to exchange messages only after going through the whole rigamarole of setting up a profile. Not that i'd expect it to be a free service but that trick is shady.
Not accepting American Express but not indicating that ANYWHERE, just 'please enter a valid credit card number'

So I was directed to this site by a person on Craigslist sho wanted me to register with Roomster. Okay, no problem. Except when you go to register it's $15 to validate your ID and then you don't really get anything until you actually purchase a subscription. So I'm into this for $20. No big deal, but
I didn't find ANYTHING that met my needs. So I went back to Craigslist and found exactly what I was looking for. Roommster is a big failure in my book.
