This site duped me into thinking I was at a different site. After I booked and noticed the charges were not what I expected I noticed my reservation could not be canceled or changed. When I finally got through to customer service, they were very unhelpful and hard to understand. Basically, I found out I was stuck with the reservation with no options to change or cancel without being charged the full amount of the original amount.
Sadly, I am here after getting duped by them. Same story as many others. Looked to book a known hotel, they popped up first in google with the name in it. Buried their fee in "Taxes and fees" and after complaining, they could not give me the actual fee number. Some BS about estimating taxes so therefore they don't really know the fee. Couple traded emails trying to ask politely for the fee number, but kept getting the run around. No responses now and I'm left to pass on my story. Hope you read this before booking. Never use these guys unless you like to throw money at people.
I thought I made my reservation directly with the hotel by looking it up on Google. Somehow it went to reservations.com I tried to cancel my reservation and they
Said I owed the entire charge even though I was at the hotel and they waived their
Charge. I waited 30 minutes to get through to attempt to cancel. They talked to the
Desk clerk and then called back to confirm with the GM that there would be no charge.
After more delay they called back and said there was a non-refundable service charge. I told them that the "service" was deplorable but they were unmovable.
Stay away from reservations.com
WATCH THE FINE PRINT! I am Canadian and was booking a Canadian Hotel and I was in Canada when reservations.com came up in a search for accommodations. There was no mention of the price being in US funds and when I was paying for the room there was a small notice stating the price was in US funds but no where remotely close to the final total. This site SCAMMED me on the exchange which was just under $100 CND. Buyer beware and watch for PARASITE scams like this...
Caveat: I didn't pay enough attention to the url.
Having said that, though, I have booked through several booking services in the last 60 days, as well as in the past, and have NEVER been charged a service fee of any sort.
"Customer service" really isn't, and will only tell you that you didn't pay enough attention to the checkout screen.
I did call and confirm that the room is reserved, so there is that. And, from what I have seen in other reviews, I suppose I am fortunate that I am only out an additional $14.99.
I will pay the stupid tax, this time, but never again!
I booked a reservation in a Canadian hotel in Trenton, Ontario thinking that I was booking in Canadian funds because I saw nothing to indicate that it was US funds. There was only a price beside the room. I didn't learn that it was US funds until I received the email confirmation and then I tried to cancel and they would not refund my money. Why would I, as a Canadian< want to book a Canadian hotel in US funds. It's a scam. Use these people at your own peril!
After thinking I was purchasing a room directly from the hotel site, I was redirected to this Guest Reservations site and the cost was $100 more than what it said. And the credit card was already processed and their policy was un-cancellable! This website is a rip-off! They only trap folks like me and charge a lot of money like 30% to 80%. WATCH OUT!
My husband thought he was going thru the hotel... realized he went thru this parasite co... within a min or 2 we called them to void the transaction bc we wanted to book thru the hotel and they sd no dice... we can cancel it but we keep the $$ anyway... scam artist $#*!ers! It's not like we waited an hr or next day... we called A MINUTE LATER... I emailed customer svc the next day and Mira sd sorry no $$ back... horrible horrible ppl...
How these scumbags are still in business is beyond me. Made the mistake of booking a hotel through them. The advertised price was 220. My card was charged 370. So I called them right away and they couldn't give me a reason why we charged so much. I said forget it I'm cancelling the reservation. The woman said sorry but we can't it's the hotels policy. So my wife got on the phone and asked to speak to someone else the no told her no and then hung up on her. Well thankfully the hotel was right down the street so I drove there and explained what happened. The manager of the hotel (Holiday Inn) was extremely sweet and called them to ask why we were over charged so much. So again they refused to tell the manager why we were overcharged. They then hung up on the manager. After about an hour of more bull$#*! the manager got them to cancel the reservation and refund us the money. However it will take 10-15 business days to get our money back. This was yesterday and I'm sure we won't get it back until day 15 if we get it back at all. I'm sure we will be fighting with them to get it back within 15 days. The bottom line is STAY FAR AWAY FROM THESE $#*! BAGS! Holiday Inn is going to stop doing business with them because of this. I hope more hotels do as well. These people are scam artists and should be shut down. Absolute $#*! bags.
This company preys on unsuspecting victims. I made reservations for 2 hotel rooms through them. The person I was talking to could not speak english well and the background noise over the phone on her end made it nearly impossible to understand her. I was charged 4 times for 2 rooms. 2 of the charges are more than the hotel itself charged me. When I noticed the charges on my cc I called the number next to the charges on my statement and *shock* that isn't even their phone number. When I did get through to them there is no way to talk to anyone about problems with charges and the recording just hangs up on you. When I tried to chat with a rep they were no help other than an email. So I began emailing them. The first email response from them assured me that the charges would never move from pending to actual charges. Well I guess they hoped I wouldn't keep checking because they sure did move to actual charges. So I emailed them again and was told they would handle the matter. I am still waiting for them to handle the matter. This is a scam company. Do not use them ever.
Do not ever book a hotel room using this site. My experience is that I searched for a hotel I wanted to stay at in Lake Placid, NY. I knew the name of the hotel having stayed there before. When I plugged the name of the hotel on google.com the first one coming up with the name ended up being the site for reservations.com. I unfortunately called them and put in a reservation for a refundable deposit. After booking I immediately realized I had booked the wrong date for the hotel but when I called them back I had to make six calls being cut off each time and after emailing them, calling persistently and waiting after a hold for 40 minutes a lady claimed to have cancelled my hotel reservation after I gave her all the information again e.g. name, address, booking number etc. She then went on to claim that the $14.99 processing fee will still be booked to my credit card even though the cancellation for the hotel is completely free. Nobody on the site ever claimed that I would not completely get all my money back when I booked the hotel reservation. They are at best a very poor site with terrible customer service or at worst a scam site. I anticipate having to fight the transaction with my credit card company after the charge posts in three days. Word to the wise, check the booking site especially for a small hotel that you know, otherwise you will be unduly hassled like I have been, and possibly robbed by the criminals who run this site.
I want to warn you about a fraudulent company. Be sure that when you call your hotel to make a reservation that you call the hotel directly. I thought I had called mine directly and when I questioned if I was speaking to the hotel directley the representative for Reservations.com blatantly lied and said he was a clerk at the Econo lodge. Their customer service dept. refused to cancel my reservation based on their lie. It is ok, i have my reservation and my plans with my mom and sister at no extra cost to me. But it will cost this fraudulent company alot more by the time I am done warning my colleagues, friends and familiy to watch out for them and posting it on every media sight and trip advisor available
Hidden fees and they will not cancel a reservation. I called customer service and they just put me on hold as soon as i complained until I hung up...
I booked my hotel through Reservations.com for a month from now. They immediately took the money out of my checking account, PLUS an extra $234.00! I called to complain about the overcharge and to cancel the reservations. I couldn't even understand what the operator was saying - their call center is somewhere in the Middle East. This website is a scam! I wish I had read these reviews before booking with Reservations.com.
Added to charges that totaled $35.00. One was a booking fee. One was a processing fee. They quoted the price of the room. Took the credit card information. Mumbled at lump sum total charge. Don't do it!
In all my years of booking online, this has to be the worst experience ever. I would like to think that this review might have an impact on reservation.com's overall ranking but since it is already rock bottom, I guess that I can only have a marginal impact on making it worse. I made a booking with reservations.com, found a much cheaper way to book the room, then called reservations.com back a few hours later. The person who answered the call pulled up the reservation details and told me that the reservation I had made had been cancelled, so there was nothing he could do. The reservations.com agent instructed me to check on the web. I did and indeed it did show that my reservation had been cancelled. Since there was no reason why the reservation should have been cancelled, and since the reservations.com agent who answered the phone was obviously totally incompetent, I didn't believe him. I asked him to send me an email confirming the details of our conversation, and I insisted that I would stay on the line until I received his email. He said that this was impossible, and that I would receive his email within 24 hours. I never received the email. I have tried calling reservations.com hundreds of times since then, to discuss the matter in person, but their customer service line is perpetually busy. A month later I'm being charged by reservations.com for a reservation that reservations.com made, and then cancelled immediately after the reservation was made. Bottom line. Nobody should *EVER* use reservations.com.
Literally said the entire hotel booking was $180 and it comes out to $310. Scammed! It's been 3 weeks since my reservation and still no refund. I have called 8 times and 4 of the times I have been lied to " the hotel does not let us cancel" I called the hotel and they said we can cancel no problem it's just reservations holding you money. I called back and the lady said she called my hotel and they specifically told her the hotel cannot cancel. I call her out on it and she moves me to a 7 day waiting list. One of the customer service helpers left me on hold for 15 minutes cause I was calling him out on all his lies. Customer service full MORONS THAT TRY TO HARD TO COVER UP FOR A SCAM OF A COMPANY.
We work for a hotel company based in Canada and we have many customers who have been tricked booking through this company. They do not make an actual reservation for your stay and as they take payment on booking it is impossible to get a refund
They advertised Best Western hotel for $159.00 per night. Ee booked via credit card. Reservations.com charged us 225.56. BAIT&SWITCH DO NOT USE
I thought i was booking through he hotel and twice confirmed the price and that it was in Canadian dollars. When i hung up and checked my credit card i was charged triple of what i was told and when i called back they would not refund all my money. Thankfully I deal with a wonderful bank that will help with this dispute.
Answer: Call your credit card company and report it as an unauthorized charge. You may have to cancel your card and get a new card and card number, but it's worth it.
Answer: Impossible to get money back. They're just scumbags!
Answer: Yes, this company charges a fee, which it will not refund even if you cancel your reservation within minutes!
Answer: Hello, Thank you for question. Please contact us at [email protected] so we can better assist you with this matter. Thank you for your consideration and we look forward to hearing back from you. Sincerely Reservations.com Support Team
Answer: It can be, if its refundable reservation. Every reservations has a different cancelation policy. Mostly last minute reservations are not cancelable.
Answer: My experience is the same. reservations.com obviously nails a lot of unsuspecting Canadians this way. They don't make any attempt to help you out when they are confronted by this way of hosing us. Its a sleazy organization.
Answer: Hello Brodie, We have sent you an email this morning regarding your concerns. Please email us directly so we may assist you. Sincerely, Customer Support Reservations.com
Answer: Yes, you were billed. Call your credit card company and report it as an unauthorized charge. Your company should remove it, send you a new card and assign you a new card number.
