Firstly, I thought I was booking directly with the hotel. Then it turns out that the hotel I thought I booked in Canada has an identically named hotel in Texas. When I realized my mistake - which was as soon as I got the confirmation e-mail - I contacted them to switch my reservation. For the next almost 2 hours I was on the phone with them, including contacting the hotel where I'd made the reservation - who had no problem with me cancelling but I had to go back to reservations.com for the cancellation. Then reservations.com actually lied to me and said I would get an e-mail confirming my cancellation but when it didn't come after 30 minutes, I called back and there was no record of being promised a refund. After several requests, I finally got to speak to a supervisor who very reluctantly cancelled my reservation. But in the end, I lost $30 Canadian dollars - a $14.99 USD service fee and a $10 difference in the exchange rate. Also interestingly, when I spoke to the lovely woman at the actual hotel, she said that her information showed I was actually booking through Expedia. The Expedia name never came up in any correspondence and when I called them, I was told I had to go through reservations.com. I wish there was a way to shut their business down. You can be sure that is the last time I book through any site but the actual hotel.
I was actually on the hotel website when the room I wanted was "unavailable". I was presented an 800 number for "reservations" and found myself speaking to a rep on reservations.com. The rep did not identify themselves as a third party. There was never a mention of the $14.99 booking fee. This is crap, but clearly I will have to pay closer attention in the future.
I like so many others believed I was booking with the hotel directly. I even asked at one point if my comp points would get me a discount and she didn't tell me she wasn't the hotel even then.
WORST SITE EVER EVER EVER DO NOT USE THIS SITE
Look at purchase below the good news about it it was showing two charges of 200.28 now it is showing only one charge. They could not tell be why all these charges was charged to my credit call and then said it takes 48 hours to be removed.
IF YOU CANCEL YOU LOSS ALL YOUR MONEY...
Reservations.com does not follow through with their policy's. The rate that I booked at was not the rate they gave me. They charged an extra $20 in taxes and fees and a $14.98 service fee. These fees were added after I completed my booking. My confirmation said I could cancel but would not get back my $14.99 service fee. They refused to allow me to cancel. They charged $42 more than any other place to book the same room. I would never use them again and was tricked into using this company.
Took forever to make reservation, Very difficult to understand, lied about the type of room, cost far more than the hotel charges, very difficult to cancel. Just stay away!
P.S. Sitejabber - Look at the 5 star reviews-they are so obviously fake.
Made a reservation weeks in advanced and was charged full price ($291.19 including taxes and fees). Got to the hotel and my reservation was no where to be found. Reservations.com confirmed that there was a booking error after many calls between the hotel and customer service. Then a few days after got an email from reservations.com stating:
"We value & recognize your circumstances, and are pleased to inform you that we are able to give you a partial refund regarding the itinerary of #xxxxxxxxxxxxx. The amount billed by our affiliate partner will be refunded via check to the address provided by you."
I'm not sure why a partial refund when the booking error had NOTHING to do with me. Regardless, to this day I have not seen anything in the mail and not sure why they can't refund back to my credit card. Still making calls to get my full refund back.
DO NOT use reservations.com. Total waist of time. They do not have a good process for anything.
The person that took my reservation on the phone sold me a room with a whirlpool tub when I got to the hotel it was in a room without a whirlpool tub I've been arguing with them about it for 2 weeks now. The reservation says Whirlpool right on it and they're trying to tell me the whirlpool is the brand of microwave and not give me any refund or adjustment on my purchase I'm totally dissatisfied and will be blasting them all over social media to everybody I know!
I booked a hotel room for a family event in early March. I had to cancel my reservation due to weather. I canceled 24 hours before the check in date. Now on the 20th of March I still haven't received a refund. I called the customer service number and was told because I canceled my reservation online I was not able to receive one. Very unhappy.
The representative was very kind though so you have that going for you.
We got charged more on here than if we would of just waiting and called the hotel ourselves. Lesson learned. Just make your own reservations thru the place you want to stay... and the reason they don't let you cancel is for that very reason you will realize at the end they cost more...
Do not even consider using this organization... you will be ripped off! They make unauthorized charges to your bill without notification. They should not be allowed to rip off the public like this.
Due to an emergency situation we had to bring our son with us instead of it being an adult getaway. I explained the situation and Katie insisted for 1 child we had to pay $22 extra even though we already paid over $325 for the room. We come to Westport often and definitely learned our lesson about staying at this facility. First and last time. We are headed back to the Westport inn were they go above and beyond for their guests.
EDIT:
If I could give this place less than a star I would. We had several issues while we were there (our neighbors up partying and swearing til after nidnight was a huge one) and our room reaked horribly like urine and there were spots and stains on the walls where they had repainted the yellow walls with white paint. The front desk employees (all besides the gentlemen on night shift). Seemed to care very little about our concerns. If your considering this place... BEWARE!
Also, the continental breakfast shouldn't even be advertised they have a few small items out and that was it. Between the urine smelling room, loud neighbors and terrible service, I say JUST DONT! I actually called Westport Inn yesterday and told them staying somewhere else made me realize how amazing they are there.
Read the other reviews! I wish I had before booking a room. First of all, they charged about $100 more than if I booked through the hotel. When I arrived at the hotel, they didn't have our reservation, the hotel was booked solid, and the confirmation numbers made no sense to anyone. When I called Reservations.com, I was on hold for about 40 minutes before I got a human who spoke English poorly and who I could not understand! I told them I was giving them a poor review and they should refund some of the money because of the aggravation I suffered. They must have been laughing at me since they obviously don't care.
I was also booking a hotel in Riverside, CA when was somehow switched to Reservations.com, also non-refundable. During the time of my booking as I was originally in one hotel and put in my dates, etc. and then when I got my confirmation it was through Reservations.com and a completely different reservation than what I was booking originally in a completely different state. Please be aware and NEVER use this company. I have been on the phone for the last two hours trying to remedy and now filing a dispute. This company is running a big scam and can't speak English when you ever get a hold of someone.
I didn't realize I wasn't on the Choice Hotels website. I questioned why he couldn't see my member number asked even asked if he was wuth Choice Hotels. I was told the produces on the website were wrong and quoted a much higher price. I was found to book until the tom I wanted wss no longer avail so I said no thanks after that. So grateful... always book direct. This company lies to get your business! No stars should be an option.
So lucky that I decided to read the terms of service. Who does that? Not me. But I wondered if this was pay in advance or just a reservation that could be cancelled. I could not believe my eyes when I saw the non-refundable fee. Quick quick close that browser window!
I was booking a hotel for spring break on-line when my reservation some how switched to reservations.com. Non-refundable $14.99 booking fee was not disclosed at the time of purchase. Same room is $25 less when booking on marriott.com. Thought I was booking a $169 room that after clicking showed $220. Customer service is joke on when you call to cancel. On-hold for 40 min to get my money back. Horrible service.
Was charged a $15 booking fee from someone whose accent was so strong I could understand only 30% of what they said. Arrived at the hotel and received a lesser room. Was told they couldn't adjust the price. It was their error, but I paid the price. Never again.
Something should be done about them. I was charged twice for a one night stay. I feel they stole $123.00 plus the $14.95 booking fee. I contacted customer service and got no where.
This company charges Canadians in USD on the website but buries USD info in small print.
I live in Vancouver BC and the Westin I reserved at is in Vancouver too but I got it in USD so I was overcharged by about $50.
When I phoned reservations.com they told me tough beans.
Once its booked that's it. Done.
This is a sleazy company.
Canadians beware.

Answer: My experience is the same. reservations.com obviously nails a lot of unsuspecting Canadians this way. They don't make any attempt to help you out when they are confronted by this way of hosing us. Its a sleazy organization.

Answer: Yes, you were billed. Call your credit card company and report it as an unauthorized charge. Your company should remove it, send you a new card and assign you a new card number.
