Sooooo, after mailing a written notice the middle of March, to Republic Services to cancel my account at the end of March, I received a new bill for the new billing cycle. (Notably, for $30 more than the last cycle which was up then as well) When I called them, they told me that they only accept phone call cancellations and would cancel it for the end of April along with a $54 charge to pick up their bin. I informed them that under no circumstances would I be paying this bill and that I was never informed of a "Pick-up" charge and that I would not be paying that bill as well. (Side note: This account was originally Randy's Disposal)
Their response was that this phone call was legal notice for them that I would be responsible for the 1 month charge and the pick up charge and that they would turn it over to collections. WTH!

We moved into a new home in pleasant hill. We were told that everyone in the community would be "required" to have the green bin for food waste. We agreed and subsequently put our food waste in it. Well, here we are 5 weeks later and it has only been picked up once and that was 3 weeks ago from now. I have made daily phone calls to them and repeatedly told that they will have someone "pick it up today". Only to find that it is still sitting outside my garage swarmed by flys and stinking to the high heavens. I have been told that a manager would call me and that supervisors were involved but nobody ever called. And now I just watched the truck drive by again. So I will be delivering this van to the republic services office and moving on. But if you have other options, use someone else for your disposal needs.
Republic Services is the worst! They miss pick ups repeatedly. They bait and switch their rates. They raised them every year and worsened their reliability each year. When we cancelled service they let the pick up containers stay by the road for three months. Then they charged a pick up fee for retrieving them. Their customer service people are rude and Incompetent. They get a zero in our book. The worst!
Over priced crooks.
Left them at the end of March. Signed on with the competition for half the cost. Now it's middle of April and the thieves send me an invoice for over $85, including their Fuel/Environmental Recovery Fee of $24.27. Just for picking up their trash can. Such awful thieves.
Do not use this compay. Use literally any other trash service. They have Administative fees, drop off fees, recovery fees, fuel/environmental fees, late fees, NIGHTMARE. I am actually angry and I always pay my bills on time, I've never had a missed bill or black mark against me, but THESE PEOPLE... they are a pretatory comany. I cannot believe they are allowed to operate a business when they treat their customers like this. I could rent an entire 20ft dumpster for less than what they are trying to charge for a month and a half of service. In fact, I found a different company that I already switched to, that is charging me less for a year of trash pickup. Disgusting.
Wish I could leave no stars. Bad customer service. Called cancelled service charged 60.00 to pick up there trash can and charged 38.00 for inconvenience fee/fuel fee. Prices go up every 3 months.
Absolutely the worst refuse service I switched to DumpBox about a year ago, 1/2 the cost. Republic wanted to charge me more than their web site cited to pick up their bins. I returned both to the Bettendorf location. Several months later I received a bill for 1 of the 2 cans. I called some main location and was told to pay it. I told them hell would freeze over before I paid them for a trash bin I had returned. I am now getting threatening letters and phone calls from Coast to Coast services, they are threatening to report it to the credit agency. All this for a 70.00 trash bin I returned. Tomorrow I will file a claim with the BBB as well file a small claims (will cost 90.00 to file) But as I am one pissed off ex customer I will spend the money and my time to harass these lousy refuse service company. DO NOT USE REPUBLIC for your garbage service use Dump Box and save money
I canceled my services early in the year because my prices kept going up. I was getting the same service as my daughter across the street but was paying three times as much. When I canceled my service, I had just paid for the next three months. They told me I would get a refund which I was expecting in the mail. Three months later and I haven't gotten my refund so I called. I was informed that they will not send you the refund unless you call for it. They are ripping off and scamming people. They are much better service is out there for Murfreesboro than this with a lot less money and more appreciative of the business.
This is the worst trash company in the us if i could give negative stars i absolutely would, they will not refund for their wrong doings nor send someone out to get trash if they do not dump it, they will say they have dumped it when they never even showed up to the property, and will not get out of the truck to open a gate so they can dump the trash. Every representative you talk to has something completely different to say about said matter, and do not help or work with you. On top of that they have a contract for 36 months that you cannot get out of no matter what. DO NOT USE REPUBLIC SERVICES UNLESS YOU LIKE GREIF AND HEADACHE EVERYTIME THEY DUMP YOUR TRASH. On top of all this only half your total bill is to dump the trash the other $60 they come up with is random environmental and very high fuel fees.
Republic Services has an amazing team of professional, probably one of the best, friendly, prompt, very helpful, just truly awesome people and service. I have a little strip mall in Brooksville and stuck with other company for 3 years, couldn't wait for the contract to expired. I have spoken to one of the reps. At Republic Services several years before and if I knew then what I know now, I would have just paid the fine to get out of the other company and sign up with Republic services much sooner. Should anyone have to pay a fine to break the contract, it's truly worth it to go with this great company, which is very responsive, friendly and helpful.

I spoke to a super friendly, enthusiastic and eager to help, name Samara Alexander. She was so patience, explained so many questions I had and best yet, followed up. At the end of several calls, I was as impressed with this company as I compared them to any excellent customer services of any luxury hotels. Then, on top of all these, I got a call from Yvonne (apologize for the spelling) introduced herself (super friendly)
You all have earned a very loyal customer, and should anyone have doubt having to pay others to get out of any contracts, it is "worth it" to just pay and switch to Republic Services; you will not regret. The other big company wills un-reasonable price gouging, missing pickup and no caring customer services.
Their sales rep convinced our property manager they were easy to work with and started service without a signed contract to see how it goes with them. A few months later, in response to the manager asking for an additional dumpster or pick up, called our manager up and casually said she needed to sign a contract and with the friendly and easy going relationship and trust built, they downplayed the 3 year contract with very undesirable terms for the customer and lead my manager to believe that she would be taken care of and still expect the type of relationship they have already built and convinced her to sign. As time went on they have been difficult to deal with and in recent months leading up to what we thought was our expiration date and giving the proper notice, we were notified the contract expires several months later. The only communication they entertain is towards trying to convince you to extend or sign new contracts to get fixed rates for a year with the same vague language putting the customer at risk of whatever charges they wish to charge for the remaining years in the term. They have increased pricing aggressively several times after we have expressed our issues with their service and declined to sign new lease terms that were again unfavorable and not competitive with both national and regional competitors. Please take these reviews seriously and at least review their contract and dont listen to the sales people convince you things dont apply or that they are flexible. Reading the other reviews further emphasizes their predatory business model/policies and contract is designed entirely to keep the customer trapped in very long term contracts that will escalate costs aggressively while in term and also auto renew on technicalities if proper notice is not given in a certain window of time for an additional 3 years. They have total control on what they want to charge you for service without any reason and without any defined or reasonable limit to the increased rates. We would add more evidence about ourselves and our situation but it is not in our interest as legal action may be imminent. The company threatens legal action and damages in the first response to you requesting to terminate an agreement. So please take the reviews seriously and avoid this company. There are many other good companies in this space that do care about providing a good service with fair terms and pricing.
Yikes. So just know if you move to Carlsbad you are stuck with this horrid company. The worst. Zero stars. I'll add that I moved from a place that took your trash. If it was outside, on the can, in the can, next to the can whatever they took it, twice a week for free. Clearly went from the heaven of trash to hell. These people suuuuck. No courtesy for someone moving. Girl on the phone so flippant and clearly loves saying, um no we don't do that. What an absolute nightmare of a company. And we are stuck. And the people they hire, yeah the schadenfreude is real, they actually love telling you what they won't ever do to help. One star everywhere I see. So clearly they don't give a sh*t about customer service, or trash service. Abject f-ing nightmare.
Awful disgusting company. I have to call almost every week. And still they have an excuse for not picking it up. Yet they still bill us. I won't be paying and I will be taking them to small claims court if they dare charge me. I'll be canceling services they waited till 5 o'clock on Friday to tell me they won't be her.
3 year contract terms are ridiculous and then they jack up the rates right before you auto renew for 3 years so they screw you for 3 years. Don't sign a contract with this terrible company. Go to coyote sanitation much better customer service
Service is not good. We only used on vacation home. They can never keep straight dates that are supposed to run. Simple I asked for service April through October. I Just got charged AGAIN this year after being asked to stay with them another year. Stating that it was clearly in their system correctly now. Never Again!
Republic is the WORST trash company I have ever dealt with in my 54 years of life! I have never had a problem but these guys take the cake! They have destroyed my grass completely in front of my house. They slam the cans down so hard they dig holes! I wanted to cancel them but they have a contract with the city which I see as monopolizing! So you can't legally get another trash company! What a nightmare!
One issue after the next. After 4 years of service, all of the sudden my garbage cans are to small for there arms of there trucks.
Boxes aren't broken down enough, and never on time.
Poor system for dumpster pickup. I ended up not getting two dressers into it and dumpster was obviously not ready for pickup. They give no ETA time my contract had no day listed for pickup either. They wont make it right. Just a routine sorry for your inconvenience. This is more than an inconvenience. I wont rent a dumpster from them ever again. Super rude too.
