I place an economy transfer with them and got an email a day before the due date that its been delay and they are going to remove the service fee ( there is no service fee if you send over 1000$ lol staff need to get educated) then the next day i call ask again and got an email " your transaction has been cancelled because the bank declined our request to debit your account". WTF? The same bank which is always accept the request for express transaction and now declined the economy transfer? I ask the bank and they advice there is no issue from there end. So what Remitly is doing they like express transactions cuz they give you low currency rates and make more commission on the other hand on economy transfers they loose and that is the reason they make lame excuse that bank declined the transfer.
It was really a bad experience sending money with this Remitly, I even use to tell my friends this is a good remittance company but no, they don't have sympathy. I have been their customer for long time. Their customer service is horrible!
If you read all these reviews and you still went ahead to use remitly... you will surely have yourself to blame... they provided me with the worst service i have seen in my entire life. My funds was not remitted in two weeks... I had to cancel the transaction... I wish i saw this website before transferring my funds to them,,,
I regret even trying, never had such a bad experience with a money transfer site, terrible customer service with no empathy. If you need to send money to Mexico, use another company like xoom.com.
Do not use this app. I sent money to a friend and then they said that the bank at my friends country didn't receive it so I had to cancel it and they did refund me my money which was fine. But then, about two months later I see in my bank account that Remitly removed the same amount that I sent without my approval. I called customer service and they told me that they would return my money and that they don't know why that happened. They said to way 72 hrs to get the money back. I kept sending emails and calling after the 72hrs and I still haven't received anything and they won't answer my emails anymore. I basically got money taken from my account without my consent. Don't use this.
I sent 200 to my husband in Africa and it was never sent to him it was kept on hold and never returned back to me. This never happened. I wasnt informed properly of their processes and they held onto my money. These guys are awful and i would not recommend sending your hard earned cash to these fools. They keep you on the phone for a long time trying to play you for a moron. They will not take responsibility for their actions for me they should be cut loose from the corporate world and taken to court for being scammers. I urge anyone out there who wants to use their service please dont these guy's are devil's who only want your money.
Don't EVER use this company. They are a joke. I've been on the phone with customer service for HOURS this morning. I sent TWO payments yesterday to the same person. One went through and one did not. The bank came back and said that the name I provided doesn't match the account which is a bunch of crap because I've been paying this person for months with the same information and the same account. One person went back to the bank and said they corrected it but they did not so I called back for a FOURTH time. This person is just lazy and refuses to contact the bank and get the problem resolved. They also refuse to refund my money. Completely unbelievable. DO NOT USE EVER!
I wish I had read these reviews before attempting to send money; I only used them because I saw their ad that said they add $15 to a transfer of $100+ to Nigeria and the fees were cheap - I thought great! Not great at all. Interrogated and made to feel like a criminal. I told the CS rep what I thought of their terms of service. This is what American companies have become under the Trump administration - sending to countries that are not predominately white and you will wish you had not. Sticking with Western Union in the future.
Please don't use I was Interrogated for trying to send $100 to a photographer in Mexico for my daughters wedding. I had to send 2 pictures of me holding my ID Many questions like I was a criminal and then i was denied worst worst experience ever i understand about security measures but picsturea of me that was extreme then denied. Worst part no reason no real reason for it.
Don't use this company, it is completely fraud, I have sent 3000$ July 4 and was not able to send even though provided correct bank info and 2 bank account but was not able to send than cancelled transactions, now today 30th July and not getting money back
They will put your funds on hold and request for your Bank statement (in my case, I have to send it twice). Customer service is below zero and interrogate you as if you committed crime by sending money to your love ones. They keep all your information and without any guarantee that it will be secure. DON'T MAKE THE MISTAKE OF USING THEM. I wish I read the reviews about them first.

Me and my mom used Remitly now to send money to my friend in Costa Rica. We did it yesterday and thought that the money was sent! But no, my mom wakes up today to an email from Remitly asking her to verify that it's actually her. So she answers the email, but ends up getting another email telling her that she needs to call them. So she calls and they ask her all kinds of personal questions about herself and the person we are sending money to. My mom got really scared and she had to wait several minutes just to get asked to wait another hour until they would call her again. When they eventually calls they asked more questions and then asked her to wait an hour more. Then she gets an email saying the money is ready for pick up. This was a really bad experience, and I don't even know if my friend in Costa Rica is going to be able to receive the money because they said in the last email that she has to have a photo ID, and she doesn't have a passport. Almost no one does in Costa Rica because of the high cost of getting one. Next time I'm going to use another company that doesn't complicate things this much, and doesn't interrogate my poor mother on the phone 2 times! She said she felt like they thought she was a terrorist. NOT HAPPY AT ALL with Remitly's way of doing business

I am so mad at this company i am wasting my morning telling everyone. These people are into info gathering more than money transfers. They wanted prior address prior jobs close relatives info. And all to send 100 dollars to a young woman in clothes. They asked me so many questiins about her i thought the guy was wantingnto date her or something. Then they asked about our relationship. Then they wanted to know what she was buying with the money. Then theblittle Nazi tells me we dont approve of herbusing the money to buy sexy clothes. You have violated our policy transfer is cancelled and your banned for life. This after she is waiting in colombia fornover 4 hours. Trans # 188 171 652 34. Bizarre. Used xoom took 3 minutes and xoom didnt even need to know what color her panties where today they just sent the money. Kinda like a real money transfer service.

I send money the other day and when my family try to get it three locations was telling them that there is no available funds for it. Remitly already took money on my debit account and then back home i can't get my OWN money! I even pay cash in minutes but until now there is no funds available. After being a loyal customer of remitly for years I think i need to find other remittance company already. Your service is getting worst!
Tried to send money to friend overseas that I sent to before using same account. Remitly puts money on hold and tells me to call them. I call them and they asked so many very personal questions that I thought were very inappropriate to verity account and transfer. Finally they send the money to my friend. I wake up the next morning not only to find out the money transfer was canceled but also my account locked. I called and they said that my account was closed but they cannot be specific as to the reason why it was closed. Never experienced any crap like this. This company definitaley will not be around long if they do business like this.
They shouldn't do business in USA. They are asking way too many personal questions for sending money to my parents. They want my bank statement, why i am sending and how often will I and all stupid questions. They should be banned from doing business in USA.
May be a good company to do money transfer. Their attitude is what I do not like. Every time they ask to verify your identity and they want to go through your banking statement expect me to explain reason for certain transaction. This is too much" REMITLY".
They accept account applications, transfer requests and transfer limit increases from business customer even though they are not approved for business transactions.
They then take the money from your account and place it on hold and notify you to contact them to finally eventually cancel the transaction. What a waste of everyone's time and effort.
The entire process took more than an hour of my time (and theirs), and placed my money of hold so it couldn't be used at all until released.
It could all be fixed by adding a message on their website saying they cannot provide business transfers at this time, or when you select "business" during the application process, it could pop up and tell you they cannot do it and decline the application.
They CHOOSE not to fix this, which leads to them harvesting all of you personal information including government identity documents, proof of address papers, etc, and NOT discarding it upon cancellation of your account!
