Really bad experience!
We are a small painting and decorating company. We have decided to try Rated People during the winter as it is quiet and were hoping to find more work through them.
Unfortunately, Rated People have been robing us big time and so far they did not offer anyting but lies.
They offer you 14 days test period which is not enough time for you to figure out how bad their service is.
We opted for two leads per month and for the 16 leads we have been sent so far only one customer responded. All the others were dead leads as the supposed client would not answer their phone and would not reply to our numerous emails. No responce at all.
If you complain to Rated People, they will not allow your money back for any of these leads because Rated People have a limit on the amount of leads you can return which is 10% even though 99% of their leads in my oppinion are fake.
If you want to file official complaint, they would not have it and send you to debt collectors straight away.
You are not allowed to cancel your membership if you are not happy with their service and they will not try to resolve the issue whatsoever. Their version of resolving the issue was "keep paying your monthly fees or we will send you to court".
Please do not waste your time and money. If you do not belive me, research the company online and you will find hundreds of complaints and bad reviews.
Stay away!

What a scam this is! Only joined 1 week ago, £70 out of pocket and 5 leads later not one person answered the phone or returned an email. In fact 2 of the numbers were invalid and didn't even ring, just got number not in use message!. Called customer services, they tried the numbers their end and guess what they said? The numbers were ringing their end! Full of s**t!. When I found out that the "customers" can place an advert for free I knew I made a mistake by joining rated people. I bet most of the adverts are fake, to get us traders to buy dead leads. I cannot believe that this company are allowed to do what they do! They are con artists. I have managed to get my account closed within the 14 days cooling off period thank God!

THESE SNEAKY G*** TRIED TO TAKE A PAYMENT OUT OF MY ACCOUNT LAST MONTH DESPITE THE ACCOUNT BEING CLOSED 7 MONTHS AGO, MY BANK STOPPED IT, PHONE YOUR BANK TODAY AND PUT A STOP ON ANY FURTHER WITHDRAWLS, VISA ARE ON THEIR CASE!

FORGET IT! They have a 4STAR rating because its the people who post the job leads that give the good reviews, most of the bad reviews are from tradespeople that have been ripped off by this company, read a few and you'll see there are too many bought leads that come to nothing because... NO ONE ANSWERS THE PHONE! I know Trading Standards are looking at this company, and rightly so. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!
1. The leads can be very expensive.
2. You have a 1 in 3 chance of getting the job.
3. More often than not the phone number doesn't work.
4.75% of customers won't reply to text, chat or e-mail messages.
5. A maximum of 3 tradesmen can buy the lead but the customer will often take the first one to respond if they want the job done quick, the other two will get ignored.

I would give 0 star. AVOID! AVOID! This fake company. I am trying to close my account for over one year now, still no success. They phone number don't work if you write them they don't answer, you can't get any help and year pass they still taking money from account. They saying 3 people only can by job leads, but I see sou many times same leads, same description available to buy 2 or 3 even 4 times. When you by leads most times they tell you they change the mind and decide not to do any work. Or they tell you that price including materials which it's no on descriptions. Money you pay you not going to get back. AVOID AVOID AVOID

I cancelled my payments to this company after growing tired of fake leads, they chased me for £20 owed on the account sold the debt on to a debt collecting agency who increased the debt to £160 and are still harassing be for the money. 6 months later rated people illegally took £76 out of my bank account, I tried calling their customer service line and was met with message after message saying that their services were down, I then tried from a friends phone and their services miraculously worked from his line so after taking payment from my account have blocked me from being able to call them. After speaking with a woman about this matter she starting telling me it sounded like I was underwater my signal must be bad even though I could hear her clearly I told her not to hang up the phone on me and eventually she could hear me ok even though I didn't move. She then told me that it's another department that deals with payments and they weren't open until 10am and gave me a number (which charges for calls) I asked her to get them to call me and she said that was fine but doesn't know when they would call, I'm still waiting on the call and luckily my bank refunded the payments.
Avoid this company this is not the first issue I have heard

I have been on Rated People for over three years, it was never that good but it has got steadily worse(and consequently I rarely use it now and will leave as soon as my contract is up) here is just a couple of the reasons:

The prices for the job leads were expensive to begin with but now they are just crazy!

Previously they reimbursed you(under certain conditions) when the job lead was non existent, or you was unable to quote for some reason but now they will reimburse a maximum of 20% of your job leads over a 3 month period, so no matter how much you spent, or for whatever reason you are a claiming a refund you will not get 4 out of 5 of your refunds back, its infuriating, its like just giving money to rated people(which they obviously spend on their advertising campaigns and search engine optimizations experts.
Often the customer have just changed their mind about going ahead with the job, or the jobs already gone, or whatever, and there goes your £60 down the drain! Ring Rated people and they are just like robots spouting from a pre prepared list of statements and will not reimburse you under any circumstances.

The setup, by its very nature is a race to the bottom for us trades people, i.e.to get the job you have to go in cheap and often you do that knowing its the only chance of getting the job, to only not get the work because someone has gone in cheaper. When you take of rated Peoples fees, if you actually end up getting the job its peanuts for small jobs! And this is where the warning comes in for the customers - if a supposedly skilled, experienced and qualified tradesman with his own business(and all the extra expenses and hassle that entails) is doing the job for considerably less than the going rate there is a good chance the job will be rushed and cheap materials will be used - I have come across this many times.

Trades people do us all a favour and stay of this site, its like the UBER of trades - we will all end up earning a lot less with under worse conditions while the people at the top of the likes of rated people get rich of our hard work, and for doing what?!

I joined all 3 of the main trusted trader type programs and joined rated people at its lowest level to try it out. I can see why thier sales people want you to join at the higher rates now on reflection. The concept of paying only for the leads you want is attractive, however I have to say the quality of the leads are really poor and massively expensive. You just recieve a constant flow of labour only quotes for worthless jobs... Fit my 4 cctv camera over 10 hours with a budget of under £100 for which they want £15 plus vat for the lead. You are signed in for a year so I have found myself just using up my credits on something that might be value... I haven't got anything from it in 9 months... Yet my business is busy every day from al my other activities. Waste of time and money

I joined for 3-4 weeks had lots of leeds great but they all cost quite a lot and I won 0 jobs. I've worked as a builder for over 20 years and just wanted to select work near me. I responded very quickly and actually priced work Very competitively!

Yet no jobs won. I think the customers are only interested in the lowest quote.
I see a lot of complaints about poor workmanship! Well cheapest is not always the best customers! I'm glad the guys who undercut me have supplied a rubbish job.

Websites such as Rated People are supposed to be raising the standard of how tradespeople interact & trade with consumers. Unfortunately out of 4 tradespeople that we have used via Rated People, only 1 has produced work to a decent standard. As a person who works in a trade, I have noticed that Rated People & other similar websites have successfully contributed to lowering the standard of tradespeople in the UK by providing a platform for unscrupulous and below-par people to advertise their below-standard services in exchange for paying for the privilege.

Rated People and other similar websites need to urgently review who they allow to trade on their websites. Unsuspecting consumers, like myself, are placing trust in these websites that they will receive good service from vetted tradespeople. The reality is definitely not the case and Rated People need face up to their original brief to raise standards otherwise consumers are no better off by simply playing 'Russian roulette' with a copy of the Yellow Pages!
