Had my gutters replaced by someone from this site. Gutters leaking and falling down. No reply from tradesman so contacted Rated People. Found out that this tradesman had stolen a dairy farmer's identity. Customer Service unhelpful, won't give their name, and have now told me the matter is closed. I'm an now struggling to escalate my complaint. Be very careful when you use Rated People because but any thing goes wrong they are totally unwilling to help.

I was convinced to sign up because of the abundance of work they have on their site. Only later you discover that 90% of the work is fake to get you to buy the lead at an average cost of £30 + VAT. You will end up spending hundreds just to get 1 job, trust me it is not worth it. The vast majority you buy the lead, get the contact details and their phone doesn't even ring - when you tell Rated People about this they just don't care, it's your problem.

The will try their hardest to get you to sign up for 12 months and pay upfront, the reason they want you to pay upfront is because after 2 months you will get sick of it and wont pay them their monthly fee

Joined Rated People, was told about lots of jobs for decorators, first month was £70+vat got zero jobs, so I reduced to £42 inc vat a month, still no jobs, if you can call decorate a whole house for £2000 I couldn't believe people took in, so under priced! No wonder people criticise the tradesmen, pay as little as possible and you will get the dregs of tradesmen, if you can call them that.
I am now in a 12 month contract, still no jobs, all way below what I would charge, but still they charge me.
Avoid at all cost, the "customers " have no idea what professionals charge, hence why they end up with cowboys.

HAPPEND FEW TIMES NOW SO THATS ME DONE. I BELIEVE AND SO DO OTHER TRADES I KNOW ALOT OF IT IS FAKE LEADS. CANCELLED DIRECT DEBIT NOW. PLS AVOID WE NEED TO STICK TOGETHER ON THIS AND GET IT SHUT DOWN. THINGS ARE GOING TO GET HARD THIS YEAR THEY WILL RIP YOU OFF AS THEY KNOW TRADES WILL BE DESPRATE FOR WORK IN WHAT COULD BE THE WORST RECESSION IN HISTORY. CANCEL YOUR DIRECT DEBITS.IM GOING TO CONTACT THE OMBUDSNMEN. HATE PEOPLE WHO RIP ME OFF

The funny thing is it says in the TV advert and the radio advert become a tradesman join rated people should do not be a tradesman already.
I have been rated people for over 7 years and when I try to leave they kept trying to take money out of my bank sending me Leeds and now harassing me with county court judgement saying I owe money when I said I want to cancel because I'm not happy with the service.
I would avoid there are people who have just finished a office job and signed up pretending they are a carpenter
The are very time to legitimate people on here which is a shame because there are false leads people don't get back to you you don't get refunded.
Furthermore I remember the time when I used to speak to the female owner personally when it first started now I get harassed I got put in front of the quality control team and taken off off the site for a month even though I have the same bank account same person with the same email address and scene phone number over the Christmas period when I need the work most. Nothing but a money-making scam gone crazy
If you are a tradesman then just advertised on Google and the local paper stop having to compete with people in a 30 mile radius and throwing £50 away a month if you are a customer and find someone with nice ratings local you are friendly and reliable and you know they have been in the trade for some years and see pictures of their work not ones which may be downloaded off the internet

OK, After 10 years of being a member of Rated People as a Trade, its time for a giving them review! Let's start with positives than unfortunately for them are totally covered by negative and that why one star from me as scale it's not from 1-100 stars. I think after that long time I have the right to comment on them.

Positives:
1. Absolutely amazing website and the app are done by professionals, easy to navigate, quickly responding with great design and coloristic.
2. Great idea of running a business.

Negatives:
1. Rated People team will not remove customer comments from your account even if its obsessive, vulgar, not fair, simply criminal and racists.
2. Hundreds of false leads that cost between £10-60 each.
3. Extending contracts without informing trade.

I have done around 500 jobs in total using just Rated People site for 10 years' time. I have spent thousands of pounds on the leads and earned around £70k only as 90 percent of the customers from that website looking for a bargain and not professionals that they can't afford. If I would start my business one more time, then all my investments would go into SEO and organic website positioning that is far more efficient with getting a job.
It's very sad that after 10 years of working with them, they can treat you in a very bad and unfair way. They decided to lay, ignore and keep the side of racist and someone that promoting criminality behavior using swearing language and threatening language on trade public profile, that is running under name and surname.

Rated people do not check qualification, or references, they allow trades people to put up photo's of other work, and they don't care. A roofer posted photo's of my roof, but I could not write a review as I did not employ him vis this site, I did employ him Happy Tops Roofing, but my roof is leaking +++ and I cannot upload any comments or images, and the customer team informed me that the tradesperson can put what they like on their profile, regardless if it true or not
