A few weeks ago joined the rated people website as a trader. Paying for annual membership, and yet you have to pay to apply for every single job you want to have, whether the client take you or not. They certainly are doing a lot of money. Few times was the first one to buy the lead, in other words to apply for the job and when i called the customers said they didn't need it anymore. Fake leads!? Would not recommend. Apart from that, the work ends up being underpriced as other people suggest on the reviews, seems like customers are not aware of the real prices, so you end up working for much less than should be, if you were to win.
However the more a customer is willing to offer for the job done, the more us workers have to pay to have the contract details and give a quotation. If the job just takes few hours and you are offered £40 then you end up having just about £30 by discounting how much you pay to get their money details which can be even £10, minus petrol if you're driving. So at the end you earn just a few quids

We have used this site to have our house and woodwork painted.
We have used a decorater call A. T painting decorating.
Not happy as we had him back again today to rectify errors. Still looks rough and carpets all new cleaning. Such a shame as the guy came over as good knowledge ect.
Going to have to do alot of rectify myself now. Will never use this site again. I don't like complaining and it was a horrible position to be in. As i say he was a nice guy and it's so disappointing.
I do not believe the 5* ratings as published. As yhe work itself only gets a 1* from me. Ratings do not reflect the quality we received.

We have had more than 3 tradesmen con us shoddy work or taking our money and running off without doing the work or left job half finished. I have had enough of rated people, you're just as likely to find rogue traders with them as going it alone. The complaints procedure is difficult and takes ages. The last so called tradesman took £980 upfront and did a runner. Do not trust rated people their checks do not mean anything and there is no comeback. Beware!

The charge to much for leads was last year average 15 to 19 now 45 48 the is only worth 45 but then no point doing it as you cant charge a customer 90.00 to change a light switch now look a greed and look now, there rating is 1.7 not 5 star they lost 80.000 trades, in 12 months I emailed regular they dont learn to have a box for the trades man to get back to them saying u charge to much for that lead they wonder why they lost 1.4 million last year they dont listen *******3350 electrician they are crap now learn to employ a tradesman to tell u price every area different and your customer, put value at 2000. 00 for a 50.00 job to draw attention then u ask 55.oo plus, vat hahaha $#*! heads wake up

Do not and I men do not, let a man called Phil from wise way construction advertised on ratedpeople do any ork for you. I have to admit he is a great salesman and I took him on. My garden at the end looked amazing, but rwo months after the job the artificial lawn was lumpy and holding water. I eventually got him back, but was at work so my son had to deal with him, and he said it was a minor issue and said he had sorted it. Shortly after the same issues arose and when I finally got him back he said he had now further identified the issue redug up an area and put more product into the ground, alas two weeks later, heavy rain same issues. I got a landscaper round who immediately stated that Mr Phil wise clearly didn't know his job as the groundwork had been done incorrectly and therfore it was degrading the lawn, it is going to cost me £850 to rectify. I contacted Mr Wise and gave option to rectify to standard or reimburse, he is no the scarlett pimpernel. Today I decided to pose as a tradesman with rated people and said I wanted to join. I asked if I needed to prove my qualifications, insurance etc and they said yes on joining we check all your details and companies house to vet you!, I am now also questioning them. Mr Wise is not to be used, his workers are benefit scammers, yes I have done my digging on him and will be taking him to court

The person who turned up who rated people had 'validated' was incredibly 'dodgy'. My Mum who is elderly and has mental health issues was door stopped by someone who charged her 1600 pounds for a fence which needs pulling out and restarting. The photo is an example of the quality of work (these two fences should join). Bank details the tradesman provided could not be validated by the bank. They hung around the property insisting Mum called the bank whilst they were present. We thought we may need to call the police.
