Breathtaking luxury without the sacrifice

An incredible time that will guarantee lifetime memories. Breathtaking sunsets. Was taken to the best spots thanks to the local knowledge of staff. Staff deliver a professional yet personal experience that educates you on the area traveled. Bringing an understanding to the Whitsundays that only adds more beauty. Dont hesitate to choose Portland RoadsDid I mention how luxurious the Boat was? Plenty of fridges, freezes, toilets, showers. Coffee. Fresh fruit. Delicious cooked meals. All in paradise Never felt so Lux and still managed to tread softly in the marine park. Their eco message is the benchmark needed now more than ever.

Recently spent a week sailing onboard "Portland Roads" and would have been equally as thrilled if we never left the port! The boat was so luxurious, spacious and comfortable. It had everything we thought we could have needed plus more! Cannot recommend the Master Reef Guide and Ngaro Experience enough. The knowledge shared and learned on this trip will never be forgotten and it was amazing to know we were contributing to a business that is working with and being so respectful of the traditional land owners as well as being CARBON NEGATIVE. What an awesome achievement from John and the gang at Portland Roads! Loved absolutely everything about our week away (even my sea legs that I still can't seem to shake)!

Great holiday
October 29, 2020

Great holiday. Reccomend 6 people maximum for 8 berth trip, just to have more personal space. Accomodation is great. Everything is provided in just the right amount for living onboard. Good showers. Good coffee. Plenty of information provided for planning your daily activities. Appoint a Hatch monitor and a recycling monitor. Spent our nights up on top and and stargazing for hours. Feed batfish. See iguanas and swim with Giant Maori wrasse. Fabulous.

Wow, what a trip
October 29, 2020

Wow, what a trip. From the initial briefing right to the very last second we all had such an amazing time. Great boat (Portland Roads) and clear, concise info on how best to maximise or trip. None of us wanted it it end. Hopefully not a once in a lifetime trip, but if it was - IT WAS WORTH IT!

We had a wonderful 5 night stay on Lucy, Deano was very knowledgeable and gave us great tips on where to snorkel and fish. The boat was well equipped with everything we needed, even a coffee machine and air conditioning. I highly recommend Portland roads.

I felt like a celebrity sailing the Whitsundays with Portland Roads! The catamaran was pure luxury with all you could want. Multiple fridges and freezers enabled our group to dine daily on whatever we chose, the yachts sound system combined with wine and cheese was the perfect accompaniment for our daily ritual of watching the orange sun set over the aqua blue waters of the Whitsundays. Portland Roads briefing and support, provided the confidence our group of inexperienced sailors required to confidently navigate the yacht around the islands. The pre departure tips and local knowledge provided by John and the Portland Roads crew meant that every island and mooring port that we visited had safe and spectacular snorkelling, swimming, and overnight anchorage. One of the best weeks of my life, well be back for sure.

We sailed LUCY for 7 nights. Deano gave us a suggested itinerary with heaps of local knowledge and it didn't disappoint. We had 5 adults and 2 teenagers on board and there was plenty of space. We saw some magical places. Lucy was easy to navigate as we had minimal sailing experience.

A great holiday experience with a small but well run and professional operation, that obviously care for the Whitsunday environment which was important to us. A great week onboard ˜Due West that was perfect for a family of four with not a lot of sailing or boating experience. Boat was immaculate and well set up, only criticism was that it could have better shades for the back deck area. Special mention to our briefer Mike who was thorough, patient and accomodating and gave us the confidence and good advice to give it a go, despite obviously being busy. Highly recommend. We will be back if we get the chance.

Have to say a huge thanks for the fantastic week on Ruby Sunday last week; what a beautifully behaved and perfectly manoeuvrable catamaran she is - we had nil to very little prior boating experience but the expert briefing and practice sessions and books/charts provided, gave us the tools to navigate to everywhere we wanted to go in the Whitsundays with confidence - which we did! We snorkelled different spots everyday, swam with turtles (21!), saw dolphins, nemo in the anemone, starfish, giant clams... a magical experience for both us and our 3 children. A great holiday to reconnect and ˜unplug the kids, and we havent laughed so much for years. We were also lucky with perfect weather and a turn of the winds toward the end of the holiday, allowing us to anchor at a variety of different crystal clear bays.

Ruby Sunday was a luxury ˜home away from home... very well *** out for us with each child spoiled by their own double bedroom. Great selection of movies for the kids to watch at night so mum & dad could catch up outside under the stars. Also have to call out the amazing food provided by the recommended Whitsundays Provisioning - the quality of food was top notch, I have not had fresher prawns/bugs, and the eye fillet steaks were simply superb. We were so busy swimming/exploring/fishing that we missed a few meals which resulted in leftovers- so sad we couldnt take it back with us - the leftover veggies were so fresh and healthy they were still A+ after the week!
We cant wait to come back - an amazing experience in a very special part of the world, thank you so much for sharing these beautiful boats and your knowledge Mike.

We sailed for 5 nights on Portland Roads in October this year. It was honestly the best holiday I could imagine, and I will be back to do it again as soon as I can. There is nothing that can describe how perfectly relaxing it is... the only way to see the Whitsundays! The boat is beautiful, spacious, comfortable and easy to operate even for novices like us. Thank you very much for such a perfect experience!

Im not sure I have the words to do this amazing experience justice! The water is brilliant turquoise, the sealife majestic, and the sunsets are out of this world. But it is the service that makes this trip truly special. John is an extraordinary skipper, chef, storyteller, and tour guide. Highly recommend Portland Roads platinum package - already planning our next trip!

Everything!
October 29, 2020

Everything! Very comfortable and well fitted out. Travelled beautifully even in fairly rough conditions. What a way to spend a week! Our motto was œanother day, another bay and each bay was unique and beautiful. Portland Roads has everything on board we needed and was extremely comfortable. Looking forward to doing it again and would highly recommend.

From the business

In short, we give you one of our million-dollar boats;
You’ll grab up to 8 family and friends to join you (loosely called your crew).

Then for as little as $199 per person, per sailing day, you will become the skipper and sail the Ngaro Waters and Islands of the Whitsundays (74 islands, but who’s counting?)

For 6 days / 5 Nights you will live in and on the World Heritage listed Great Barrier Reef.

You will slip into Whitsundays time where your week with us will feel more like the most relaxing month of your life. You will live aboard one of our Lagoon Sailing Catamarans, sipping bubbles at sunset and cooking up a storm in the galley.
You will leave as a new custodian of our extraordinary reef and realise that adventure still lives in us all – No experience is necessary!
