I would think twice not only about giving this company any money, but even using a free account as they do not care about security or you as a consumer at all.

My account was hacked and private photos made public. I understand these things can happen and tried to nicely resolve the issue with Photobucket.

They blatantly ignored emails and stopped communicating with me on Facebook. I have filed an official complaint with the BBB (they have an F grading btw) and if that doesn't resolve the issue I will have to hire legal help which is ridiculous since it would probably take them about ten minutes to fix the issue.

Worst customer service EVER.

First it was a good free service that did what it was set to do, then later the site would never run because of so many ads, and then i couldn't see images in other sites anymore AND THEN now any and all images are blurry with this giant shameless watermark.

Honestly what's the point of this service if it's so anti-everyone except for people who give away money.

Cheers for rendering all of my images completely useless with your watermark and paywall, Photobucket. I can understand adding the watermark, but blurring the images rendering them 100% illegible is absolutely absurd. You've made the entire Internet angry, I hope you crash and burn.

Like so many online start ups, Photobucket started out like gangbusters. It was THE site for online photo albums and image hosting. I absolutely loved it... and relied upon it. Five stars back then.

Now it has hopped on the "Gimmick and Greed Train"... imposing too many demands upon its users with too many loading and function complications.

I cannot even get into my old albums and collections.

One star now.

But once again for old time's sake I am averaging these scores for a rating of three stars.

Photobucket, get your act together, darling.

Very Sad
September 30, 2019

What once was a great free service became a barrage of ads but I still stayed. It later became that annoying watermark and I still stayed hoping they would give into the reviews and see the error in their ways. Now they just closed my once free account. I understand the need to make money, we all do, and I believe that ads were enough. Now I have had enough.

Photobucket "used to be" the place on the internet to host your photos. Many forums (especially helpful ones) were based upon fellow users who also posted photos that were hosted by photobucket. I don't know how they got their revenue... but it was their business model that allowed millions to host photos on their site and link directly to them. Fast forward to new ownership and they screwed everyone - many helpful forums now have blurred out pics that are basically useless and people can no longer find helpful items on the internet where it once existed.

Just use Imgur
September 15, 2019

Decided to use photo bucket because I thought it would be best for the application I was using if for. It was working well for a good few months until they decided to slap on some bag $#*! water marks on my images and where they were uploaded. Furthermore, making it impossible to get rid if them unless I pay them.

I've had an account with Photobucket since around 2004 or so. It was free back then, which I really appreciated, but then around 2007 or so, they started cutting the file size limit and bandwidth limit for free accounts. Wasn't happy about that, but it still suited my purposes. About 5 years ago, they started covering your images with a watermark.

In the past year or so, I've been getting emails from them warning me that my account is over limit and I need to log in and delete my photos (or however they worded it) or get a paid account. The last time they sent this email, I logged in and deleted a lot of photos from my account (after downloading/backing them up), but not quite enough to get me into the free account tier. I'm a small business owner and I don't usually get enough time during the day to do things like this as often as I'd like.

Today I received an email from them with the subject "Your photos may be subject to deletion. Verify & secure your account today." The email told me I hadn't accessed my account in some time (really it's only been a couple of months or so?), and I must verify my account to keep it in "active" status. I clicked on the "verify" link, logged in, and ended up at this page with an ugly red background, informing me "Hosting is not allowed. It's time to make a decision, upgrade today or delete your account." There is a "Purchase now" link and underneath it a "or contact support to delete your account."

I think it's disgusting that they're not even giving me an opportunity to access my account so I can save/download/delete any other photos. They might try to justify it as, "Well, we told you many times and we're not giving you any more chances." But I only received two such emails telling me to delete photos or purchase an upgrade. And they never said anything about only giving you x amount of chances before forcing you to upgrade or delete your account. I believe they're not only greedy, but shady as well.

I left them negative feedback on their site along with an email address to contact me, so we'll see if they say anything. At this point I'd rather just delete my account and be done with them... they disgust me that much. I also can't afford a paid account with them. I've been using a better image hosting service for several years now (a FREE one). But I'd like to at least be able to access the photos first. They don't care, though.

Gets worse all the time
September 8, 2019

Several years ago when PB was still fine I got an account, uploading images. But for the last few years it got worse and worse. I haven't used Photobucket in years and nevetheless they send me mails claiming that my account exceeded bandwith, apparently in order to blackmail me into accepting to pay for the account, since it is impossible for me to have exceeded the bandwith when I haven't been using the account for a long I'm never going to use PB again.

Zero Stars
August 14, 2019

I have ordered from Photobucket many times in the past and have always been satisfied... not this time. They sent me a canvas with the face of one person wrapped around the side of the frame. It was an anniversary gift for a dear friend's parents. I did not submit the photo with the face wrapped around the side. I asked them to replace it and they said that the gets thousands of orders and that no one looks at them to see if the quality sucks... is that any way to do business? I didn't have this problem before when I submitted pictures to be printed on canvas. They refused to do anything about it so I am just letting you know what kind of company this is... zero loyalty to the customer and zero customer support services.

Extortion
July 18, 2019

After YEARS of being a free account customer they changed their storage limit. They also took away the ability to download your albums except for 1 photo at a time. My options are PAY to keep my photos there, Don't pay and loose the 300% of my photos that are over their new limit. I have over 1000 pictures there so downloading the 1 at a time is out of the question. EXTORTION is the only name that fits what they are doing. NO Stars it what they should be rated.

I've been with Photobucket for over a decade. They were a wonderful service for those of us with no web space but needed storage. It was great for adding our photo's to forums that didn't allow uploads. Since the great hostage take over of our accts. It's been nothing but threatening emails and one obstacle after another to get onto the site. After deleting many photos and showing my storage at 10% of my allotment, I still get email after email that I am locked out and over my limit. I finally managed to get onto the site and I have taken back my photos and deleted my acct. I was always well within my free storage guidelines before this debacle. They changed the rules and then told me I owed money if I ever wanted to see my pics again. Wrong. Bye Felicia.

Everything below is true. They disabled the download album feature, for obvious reasons (just read below) and demanded paying money. Infuriating. Therefore, I had to download thousands of photos, one-by-one. However, it was WORTH IT because I did not give them a SINGLE DIME. Happily took my business to Shutterfly.

I wasn't too bothered about the 3rd party sharing thing..I just used it to back up photos, but after a catastrophic computer failure I now find I have to download images 1 at a time...WHY?
I'm also apparently over my free account threshold and have to download or delete- I will but it's going to take a while you muppets and no I'm not buying any of the $#*! that keeps popping up while I click select download select download select download....

Learned my lesson.

Run the Chrome search engine and implement their app to download multiple images. The app will place the 'download multiple' images button that photobucket removed with one of their own. It downloads 100 images at a time. The negative side is that it will download ALL of your images without any way to select which you want.

Bulk down load of Photobucket albums
January 21, 2019
Previous review

When Photobucket deleted the albums download button several sources wrote apps to accomplish the same thing. The Chrome search engine has an add-on app that puts the button back in the Photobucket screen and allows download of a hundred pictures at a time. Now I need to find a way to replace about a thousand links in auto forums with my pics new home.

Photo editor locks up computer
January 4, 2019
Previous review

After editing and attempting to save edits get a message that 'something didn't click'. At that time Photobucket locks up and the only way to escape is to close the link.

Contacted [email protected] and got this message back:"We are aware that some features of our Image Editor are not functioning properly, including saving edited photos. Our team is looking into this issue. Unfortunately at this time, we do not have an immediate solution and we understand that this is causing a lot of frustrations with our users.

We apologize for this inconvenience. Please know that we are very close to releasing a new Photobucket site which will have an image editor that is fully functional. We are expecting to roll out the new site to most of our users in the next couple of months."

Translated "we know about the problem but are not going to fix it"

I loved using photobucket for many years and really didn't have very much on the website. I wasn't at max, certainly. And suddenly I'm being threatened and hassled every day to pay yearly or monthly or else. No thank you. I don't join companies that work using threatening tactics.

Garbage
January 6, 2019

Had to download my pics one by one because the purposely removed the download all button to make it hard for you to leave, I kept getting emails saying I had used my free storage and had to pay, In truth I had used only 2%. This kind of bull$#*! is utterly unacceptable from any company. Avoid at all cost. One star is one too many for this company.

I have signed up for the service for a full year (as they were offering a discount) mainly because they were advertising access to their API through the "developer" link on their website. When I contacted them to try and get the API key, they told me that they don't offer API. When I asked for refund, they said they don't offer refunds.

Interface is extremely buggy. Uploads don't work:
- Tested with a single mp4 video - failed
- Tested with a single image - success
- Tested with multiple images - 20% failed

If I could give it 0 stars, I would.
Don't buy!

All the negative reviews and stories I've read here are true. I finally recovered all my photos back. Painstakingly one by one. Why? Because they purposely won't allow you to download an entire album to discourage you from leaving them. A law firm should put together a Class Action Lawsuit with the company.
