PayPal Reviews Summary

The overall reputation of the company reflects significant customer dissatisfaction, particularly regarding its customer service and support. Many reviews highlight frustrations with delayed transactions, ineffective resolution of disputes, and a lack of proactive communication. Customers frequently report feeling unsupported in cases of fraud or issues with received goods. However, some positive sentiments emerge, particularly regarding the perceived reliability of PayPal as a payment method for certain transactions, which customers associate with enhanced buyer protection. Despite this, the overwhelming trend indicates a critical need for improvement in customer service responsiveness and dispute resolution processes.

After receiving an invoice from a paypal business requesting friends and family payment, even though I didn't even know him, I paid the invoice. Although PayPal is suppose to NOT ALLOW a business to ask for friends and family pay, they did. The PayPal user knew what he was doing and when disputed, he and his wife said "too bad" you paid with friends and family and you can't dispute it. I'm out $1800 and didn't receive anything for it. He refuses to refund any of my money, and much to my surprise, PayPal backed him. He even put it in writing he was avoiding charges by doing this, so PayPal didn't even receive their fees. I thought something was odd about his request, a $1800 lesson to learn PayPal's rules and how to rip someone off that isn't familiar with this.

I'm agree with all this reviews, because it happened to me. It's the same situation over and over. Pay Pal don't protect the customer against all these fraudulent companies. They keep doing transactions with this bad companies. Use your credit card or debit card from your bank and they will protect you against this fraudulent companies. DO NOT USE PAY PAL at all. Customer Service is awful, bad they are trained to be against the customer. I lost $500.00 in a wedding dress and they never gave me any support. They supported the China company.

PayPal is the way eBay get the money when you have a dispute on eBay. They are just the way for ebay to still from you when you have a dispute with eBay. Ebay decide that you need to give a refund and they just take the money from your PayPal account like if it's their money. PayPal don't say anything.

Wake up America!
March 4, 2015

Ike someone already said
A good idea and a good business... turned bad after EBay purchase.
First of all... not insured (do NOT leave your $$$$ in your Paypal account)!
Second... do you ever wonder why it takes 4/5 days for any funds you transfer to go anywhere?, well...
Let just say... you transfer $ 100 from you bank to Paypal... it should take... hhhmmmm... no time at all... BUT your $100 stay for (at least 3 days in Paypal account... generating interests for Paypal. Now... multiply that $100 by a million of daily transactions and check how much $$$$ is Paypal making out of you $$$.
Then they want a credit card on file, but "they cannot use it to make a payment for you (yup... doing so... they would loose all the interests accrued on the...$$$ sitting in their account... but hey... after the acquisition by EBay... the same "modus operandi" is applied... and between EBay and Paypal... we are paying 17%... again... WAKE UP AMERICA!, OR SHOULD I say WORLD?

If you're an Ebay seller, you pretty much have no choice but to process your sales through PayPal. PayPal takes 6.5% of the sale amount; Ebay takes 10% on top of that.
If you send money to a person or business, same story, 6.5% comes out of what you send.
A lot of businesses, especially small ones, won't except PayPal as a payment option because of this.
In short, there's no winning with PayPal.

No Stars
February 23, 2015

PayPal is the most ignorant and discriminatory poorly run with no real investigative processes and is completely against sellers in support of buyers who find that after they receive their purchase, if the seller did not put tracking on the item, all they have to do to immediately get all of their money back and still keep the item is to make a claim that they did not receive the item to which PayPal believes exclusively over the sellers proof(s), witnesses and/or objection(s), etc. PayPal is loved by all buyers but hated by all sellers for problem(s) of the like!

PayPal Nightmare
February 17, 2015

I hope you never have a problem with PayPal because when I did it was a nightmare trying to get any help. They gave me the run around over and over again on the phone and through email. When I asked them to cancel my account so I would stop receiving charges they gave me a hard time about that too. It takes a lot to raise my blood pressure and make me want to lose my temper but they were very successful in this regard. I will never deal with them again!

A good idea which sadly with time has been seriously denigrated. I am not going to complain about the fact that you pay ebay fees and then they state that you must use paypal in order to "extort" further fees, neither am I going to worry about the restrictions etc which they place on your account.

My main concern is their latest set of terms and conditions of service, which led to me cancelling my account. They state that your details will be passed to a multitude of credit referencing agencies (why - I am not borrowing money from them, I am actually paying money into them), but more importantly that they have the right to pass your details onto 3rd party advertising agencies (with the right to demurral).

Screw that - the web is invasive enough without paying paypal to pass my personal details onto random web enitities.

Seriously guys - if you are not selling on Ebay you don't need a paypal account - just use the guest option and don't get roped into their "3rd party advertisers" BS.

Terrible experience
February 12, 2015

Terrible experience. My account got frozen last week with Paypal after a decade with no explanation. They kept my balance from the things I'd been selling. I'm disgusted with Paypal after reading how many people this has happened too.

I have used PayPal for about 10 years, as a seller and a buyer. I have several online stores, plus use the card reader for local sales. I have ALWAYS gotten a real person on the phone if I needed assistance with something, and they have gone out of their way to help. I even purchased one of those online deals to clean your computer, then when the wrong code was sent and I felt uneasy about the company, I called Paypal and they sent them a letter saying they had 10 days to give me my money back. I will never use any payment method other than PayPal!

Paypal has increased their time to review accounts to 180 days instead of 45 days.
Tomtop Wholesalers sent me a message to send the item back to them for a refund in December. I sent it back and guess what, no response as I suspected.
I am kind of concerned that a company like this can get on what I perceive as a safer environment like Ebay, and scam customers and Ebay has no power to make them do the right thing. I also have been an Ebay customer and seller for many years and have been happy. ALL matters have been resolved. Tomtop has been the only scammer.
Anyway, paypal has issued me a refund, so I am happy as a lark.

Made a Christmas purchase from Shop.ca and paid via PayPal, with PayPal withdrawing a different (higher) amount from my account than the Shop.ca summary of charges e-mail confirmed. Numerous e-mails and a call to PayPal have solved nothing. Each contact I make seems to be managed there as a new issue. PayPal pushes the issue to Shop.ca and vice versa. Will remove PayPal as a payment method for all of my online purchases.

Why does PayPal represent companies like Rose Wholesale which has a 48% rating and is a total fraudulent company
I do not understand why they would not stop supporting this Korean company from ripping people off all over the world

I've used paypal for over fifteen years. When a florist sent my daughter a shoddy bouquet with plastic leaves, I thought, 'Well, thank God I have paypal to go to bat for me."

WRONG!

An online entity can bring in hundreds of transactions a day. The week of the floral delivery, I used paypal three times. So, guess who they chose to throw under the bus?

People, it's not too late! Let's go back to our credit cards, debit cards, writing checks. It might take a little longer, but your bank is going to treat you a great deal better than paypal ever would.

If some of my favorite websites would stop using this as the only method of payment I would be happy to be rid of this company. Every time my old credit card expires and I add a new one they give me grief and I have to email customer service and wait weeks and weeks before I can purchase things again. This biennial frustration would be nice to remove.(note that I have never missed payments on any of my cards and they seem to equally hate visa, mastercard, and discover cards in multiple iterations)

JUST TERRIBLE
November 19, 2014

JUST TERRIBLE. WATCH THEY DON'T FREEZE YOUR ACCOUNT AND KEEP YOUR MONEY. STAFF IS HELPLESS, NEED TO LEARN CUSTOMER SERVICE. PAYPAL IS THE REASON I AVOID EBAY. RATHER USE ANY OTHER PAYMENT SYSTEM THAN PAYPAL.
