PayPal Reviews Summary

The overall reputation of the company reflects significant customer dissatisfaction, particularly regarding its customer service and support. Many reviews highlight frustrations with delayed transactions, ineffective resolution of disputes, and a lack of proactive communication. Customers frequently report feeling unsupported in cases of fraud or issues with received goods. However, some positive sentiments emerge, particularly regarding the perceived reliability of PayPal as a payment method for certain transactions, which customers associate with enhanced buyer protection. Despite this, the overwhelming trend indicates a critical need for improvement in customer service responsiveness and dispute resolution processes.

TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE
December 30, 2018

I have had nothing but issues with this company. Their customer service is terrible, I cannot get anything solved right away as the staff is clearly incompetent and never seems to understand the problem until I explain it like I would for a 3 year old. The site is impossible to navigate, the links are incorrect and redirect you to the wrong pages. There is no way to contact anyone except through CHAT and nobody responds there. I am unable to remove a linked bank account that has been shut down because they claim there is a "pending transaction" which is completely untrue. When I try to close my account all together it says I can't because they are "authorizing" my account, whatever that means. I've had the account long enough for them to have already authorized it. DO NOT SIGN UP IF YOU CAN HELP IT

I'M DONE WITH PAYPAL
December 25, 2018

They are nothing but a bunch of crooks. I just lost $126.00 on an item that I bought on eBay but never received. They ruled in the seller's favor even though there was clear evidence that I did not receive my item. There is no buyer protection with Paypal... they just don't care period! At this point I'll take my chances with other alternatives.

I have been using PayPal a lot lately and they're improving in ways. But it's still pretty inconvenient at gas stations, where you have to go inside and prepay if you have less than 300$ or other high amount in your account. They've come a long way from being a small payment processor, and are now almost at the level of a major bank. But they could be more flexible.

I love the concept of Pay Pal. They make online purchasing, making payments or just sending funds very easy and almost hassle free. Where they let them selves down is the customer service end and I suspect some not so straight up practices like withholding money from hitting your account etc. Navigating the complaints process is difficult and you would nearly need to do a 1 day course to figure it out. I would love to see some real and viable competition to them however as competition drives improvement, as well as choice for consumers. I would also like to see more transparency & oversight. There are some real horror stories online which prevents me from leaving any funds in my account.

Corruption
December 11, 2018

I went to print out my payouts for advertising expenditures for tax purposes. And although there was a list of over a dozen invoices we paid using PayPal over the past month the largest bill we paid was left off. EVEN THOUGH a little $17 payment was clearly on the list for the very same day as the largest one that was missing. So I went back to my email box to verify that we really did pay it through PayPal the same day as that little one that was showing paid and sure enough, there was a gmail email saying that we paid it.

So what would be the motive here? Why would PayPal conveniently leave off, from our printable records, of the largest invoice we paid, yet the little $17 invoice was listed?

Both were paid on the same day. All we can come up with is that PayPal is "in Kahoots" with "The Man" (that three letter govt. Agency in order to make it difficult for small businesses to kep track of their receipts.

If anyone else has experienced this please list it on this site so their corruption and greed is made clear to regular, hard working American citizens.

I cannot change the address in my account. I agreed with the seller on the correct shipping address. For an unknown reason the item was sent to the paypal address and the seller stopped responding. Paypal decided in her favour. Still had not understood why. The customer service is dreadful: you have option to upload attachments to the email - so you do so - the email gets rejected stating they cannot accept it and you have to upload it somewhere in the paypal. You write you dont have such option - they dont read the emails and keep telling you to go and upload... For the third time someone reads it and finally "guides you" to attach it to the email. They dont read the emails history, seems they dont even read the evidence (they even didnt ask for it and were done with the case within 30 minutes), they dont accept their part of responsibility for not allowing you to change the address, they refuse to share the responsibility between you and the seller, they refuse to refund you the difference in shipping cost... And they have never been able to explain why they have decided in the seller´s favour. So they dont let me to update the details, the seller deliberately changes the address to be delivered too (even the country is different), and its me who is beaten up. Excellent. They made me believe they decide the cases based on "heads or tails" or, even worse, on the nationality.

I wanted PayPal to answer a simple question: who pays the return postage from Australia to Canada on a faulty item, me or the seller. A basic yet important question requiring a one word answer. Instead I received multiple cut and paste messages that didn't answer the question. I suspect there are robots answering, not real people because how could a human be that stupid?

I see this is a small problem compared to what others have experienced. Criminal.

This is the only review I've ever written. It is so bad, that I took the time to find a place to review this joke of a company! Why is it that PayPal gets to decide they want to keep my money for weeks without a good reason? I have sold many items on eBay, and every single time, I have to go through multiple calls, emails, and sometimes even bothering the customer to get my money from PayPal.

My most recent issue was today actually. I sold an item through eBay's Global Shipping Program. The buyer received the item 3 days ago and PayPal claims they have no record of that. I offered the woman on the phone to show her the ebay page that said it was delivered, and she said they don't work like that.

So now, I have to reach out to the customer and bother him during his day. PayPal said I'll have to email him with some link where he can then confirm he got the item. I shouldn't have to go through all of this, and neither should the customer. This is the most shady way of doing business I've ever seen! I'm gonna have to completely write off PayPal, because this is getting absurd.

Hell for sellers
November 24, 2018

Sold item on ebay for 13usd. The account turned out to be stolen. Had to refund. Lost the product. Lost the money. And now they want to charge me a fee of 20usd... which is even more than what I refunded!
I dont have any words for this.

Avoid at all costs if you are a seller.

If you are a buyer, a hacker or a stupid phishing victim - then this is the heaven for you.

Now that i think of it, nothing can stop you even from faking a stolen account. You can login from a friend's computer, buy some digital goods, some fast shipping ones, some online services. Receive them. Then say that your account was stolen - and they will refund you and you will get to keep all the goods too.

Terrible company. Just terrible. They were decent once... but not anymore. No surprise that ebay are discontinuing the deal with them.

There is no way Paypal deserve 4 stars!
I have used a paypal account for over ten years now through my business unfortunately it was forced upon my by ebay. With a regular annual income of around £60k i constantly have transfers held sometimes for up to a week and occasionally declined by paypal. This makes running a company and using paypal very unreliable, the customer services have no idea why they hold my transfers and even worse seem they have no control over any of my funds and can never resolve it. The excuse is always 'a security check' and it can take up to 72 hours to process, i wonder why so many constant security checks are needed when sending money from my own paypal account to my own registered bank account? Its just a poor excuse to cover up the interest money generating machine they run I would not recommend anyone to paypal.

After a dispute with seller which was paid via paypal.com I contacted paypal.com to get my money back for the postal fee taken for cancelled mercandise. A lot of evidence was uploaded to the paypal.com site where the seller in fact admits that all the postal fee isn't paid back for the cancelled parts. It seems for me that the case proceedings wasn't to proffesional and they jumped to conclusions after some minutes even with 35 pages with attachment. I don't think they even read it!

The final answer to this from paypal is that I got some of the money back, anyway postal fees was not covered by the buyers protection program so they couldn't help me! I cancelled my paypal.com account immediatly!

In addition is it cheaper to let VISA do the transaction between currencies than using paypal.com.

I noticed how PayPal banned people who have different political views, so I went on their community forum and asked about the status of free speech when using PayPal. They did not reply to my post, instead they banned me from the forum immediately. This is such an unreliable service. I'm glad I didn't come to rely on this PayPal crap.

I bought an item off the web. Item took a month to arrive and was incomplete. Chinese seller which I didn't know. PayPal tells me I have to post item at my expense to China before I can get a refund. The postage rates to china are higher than the refund I can expect. Had a long chat to PayPal customer service and they will do nothing about it. No refund. Shameful

I Notice there is no Seller Loyalty or Protection, I got Robbed on eBAY and now forced to PAY TWICE for 2 eGift Cards for $300. I am out of $600 and with my Multiple Sclerosis and Blood Pressure, I can not handle this.

I am in the Red for an eBay Transaction and was basically robbed by a buyer on eBay (NOT ONLY DID I LOSE THE MONEY FOR THE CARDS THE CARDS WERE ALREADY USED) I Will Be REPORTING THIS TO THE POLICE AS WELL.

The Buyer is Fraudulent, purchased 2 Gift Cards from me on eBay (Email Delivery) one eGift Card for Target for $200 and one from Kohls for $100. I am not refunding the money for someone committing Fraud. He even left me a POSITIVE FEEDBACK ON EBAY FOR THE $200 TARGET GIFT CARD. MY EBAY STATES NO REFUNDS AND USING MY TARGET AND KOHLS ACCOUNT, I DO NOT GET REFUND BACKS FOR EMAIL GIFT CARDS. SO YOU GUYS DO WHAT YOU GOT TO DO AND HANDLE THIS, I AM NOT GETTING ROBBED BY SOMEONE.

I Sell and Buy for a long time with PayPal and eBay if you do not correct this you will lose my business.

Again here is your wonderful CONFIRMED Buyer who costs me $600

Paypal Credit is a scam!
October 15, 2018

I've used paypal since it first began many years ago without any problems, But recently i decided to use paypal credit for the first time. It was a horrible scam. If you purchase items using paypal credit, And then make a payment towards that amount, Your money does not go towards your purchase price. First they lay a large fee on you every month, Mine was 27.00 per month, And then they charge you interest on the total amount, Including their high monthly fee. So My first 40.00 every month was being applied only to their fees and interests, And not towards the actual items that i purchased. In order to get any money towards my purchase, I had to make huge monthly payments. And then the following month, I would have to do it all again. In the end i decided it would be easier, And cheaper for me to pay off the entire bill at once, Even though i couldn't afford it, Because their monthly charges were rediculously high. And there is no way to apply your money to your purchases first, To bring the cost down. The whole system is a scam designed to put your account in the negative, So that you can never pay it off. I will never use paypal credit again.
