Apparently PayPal is condoning ppl that use PayPal to steal from out ppl. PayPal was used to steal money by some $#*! out of California by using PayPal. When PayPal was contacted they stated it was not their problem.
My sister-in-law is out of work because of the COVID-19 virus. We sent her money to help out but I mistakenly paid for "goods and services" instead of "friends and family" (totally my fault) which meant PayPal charged a fee and she received less than we sent. Several lengthy chats with a Customer Service rep to get the fee refunded got me nowhere so I opened a case. IT WAS DENIED. Seriously? In the face of so much stress and concern in the world right now PayPal is more interested in making money than doing right by people? Shame on them!

I received my items from the seller, it was damaged so I asked for a refund from her, but she hasn't even received the payment as yet paypal has the moment on hold and she cant give me a refund. You took your fee so what on earth are you holding MY money for? How much interest does Paypal get for holding MY money anyway? I feel it's unacceptable to hold money when the items have been sent out and PayPal took their slice. I'm not buying things for fun, I'm buying things because I need it to work as described, and it came damaged like on the 11th of march already,? Furious. What a scam the seller cant give me a refund because paypal is holding the money and the item has arrived damaged. PayPal has awful customer service! I will say I spoke to one person out of everyone I have spoke with and that was Ron Edson. The rest were awful not understanding and one guy Cris Jay closed a conversation on me but it looks like I closed the conversation which in fact I did not. I work in customer service and understand how difficult it can be. But PayPal has been very very disappointing to say the least. I'll more than likely not use PayPal anymore. I'll be using Venmo or something else. Super upset with there customer service.
Simple use-case. A merchant requested a payment through PayPal in Euros. I have connected a card which accepts Euros. I have set my primary currency in PayPal to Euros. When the payment reaches PayPal, they charge my account in Pounds. Not only that, they used their own currency exchange resulting in further additional costs. After exchanging 4 emails with the customer support, they let me know that each card has another setting regarding which currency it is being charged with that you (the consumer) cannot see or change unless you send them a message (in which they reply after 24 hours at best). They also refused reimbursement even though it was clearly their fault.
To generalise, the issue of which currency to charge should be left to the consumer, not PayPal. In the above case, they overcharged me with 8%. And all of that because of hidden settings (that do not appear in your profile btw).
From seller's perspective, paypal just want to get your money, charged you fee, but when the system made a mistake, they are not responsible and blame it on seller who authorized the payment and don't want to take any action to fix the issue. Really dissapointed with the service they provided.
Be aware of paypal especially $#*!es who work for paypal! After sold used mobile they imediatelly asked for documents and invoices and after all these stupid things i gave them they imediatelly closed my account. So i sold a phone for 300 gbp and money will be in paypal $#*!ing portál for 6 months! I wish eBay closed their cooperation as they deserve this!
Paypal doesn't care about your money. Their security sucks and when someone hacks your account and steals over $2000 from you they say it was nothing suspicious and just let your money go
I mailed my item to Miami Florida I sent the mailing verification number to PayPal they then said my item code would be released to the person once I send an additional 400$ like they keep wanting money from me. I already mailed my game system. I am so disappointed with this serve. PayPal is not a good site to use. They are crooked liers. And I will never use this site again. PAYPAL HOLD MY MONEY FOR 180 DAYS AND STOLE IT BY TELLING THAT IT WAS DAMAGE FEE. DEAR FRIENDS IF YOUR AMOUNT IS MORE, THIS COMPANY WILL RUIN YOU, TRANSFERRED MY ******* DOLLARS TO PAYPAL AND NOT RETURNING.
I received some financial help from a friend during this crisis, which was urgently needed. Or should I say PayPal received that money. And then proceeded to block me from withdrawing it. For weeks. Numerous contacts with their customer service didn't solve the issue (what exactly the issue was is still unclear), and in the end, they said I should simply refund the money to the sender and ask them to send it to me using a different service, not PayPal. So that's what I did, but what they failed to mention was that they'd keep a juicy cut for themselves because of their horrendous exchange rate policy. So that's it, I still haven't gotten the help that was offered, my friend also lost some money in the process, and PayPal happily keeps making money off people under circumstances like this. It's an utter and complete disgrace!
I would like to say I'm highly upset in the way PayPal has handled a case that I have opened. I received a product back in February from a seller that used PayPal for payment. Well in short the product was delivered and did not work, I tried to contact both the seller and PayPal and I was told to send the package back. Well the address that was provided to me would have cost me $51 dollars in shipping. The product only cost $69 to begin with. So it's either a loss of $69 or $51 if I shipped it back. I don't think that's fair for me to have to pay to return and item that was received broken. Furthermore I will never buy anything using PayPal of the source of payment again. They do not make sure they are using reputable sellers and don't look out for the buyers.
They just enjoy to believe that when block your account and your money, are doing a excellent job, wow, they feel great, and tell to you, that is for the safety of your money, YES, the money is now TOO SAFE, that even, the owner, can't access it, no Transfer, no expend, no ANYTHING. Let me tell you something, this is and OBSOLETE PROCESS THAT IS MAKING THE PEOPLE GO AWAY FROM YOU, there is a lot more efficient and more customer oriented verification process, like two level verification that MICROSOFT and FACEBOOK, for example, and a lot more SERIOUS and customer oriented enterprises are using, if you don't change with the needs of the people, you will go to ruins
PayPal is easy to set up and configure. As far as I can tell, that is where its virtue ends. Their operating assumption is that everyone is a fraudster and as a result, they hold back payments for weeks. In addition to holding back payment, their customer service is awful. They take forever to resolve any issues, mis-set expectations badly and worst of all, give out false information. I have also worked with Stripe and with EZPay and would recommend them in a heartbeat over PayPal.
I've had a Paypal account for many years and have been using it actively. However, if there are any problems... dont count on any help. Once a company charged me twice for the same transaction - Paypal did nothing even though the mistake was obvious. If you give your permission for any subcription, they do not care anymore, and the company that has your permission can do anything they want. Another time my transaction was rejected even though it was fully compliant with all the regulations. It was verified by someone who does not speak the language of the transaction. What happened when I contacted the support? Nothing. Only standard copy/paste replies. No explanations. No nothing.
This is fantastic company just by the case that I was in need of something like you know making refund from some unreliable seller and that people were all on my side by many standarts and cases. Hopefully it will work out such well in future as well.
Was scammed out of a considerable amount of money, paypal made me jump thru a bunch of hoops and took forever to get things done, in the end I lost all my money as PayPal sided with a scammer.
My 16-year old son bought an iPhone that was advertised in perfect working condition. When he received it, not only was it broken but it way beyond repair. I bought an item that was totally wrong, advertised as "handmade, hand quilted, made of brushed Kona cotton", picture was beautiful with wonderful quilting and vibrant colors and I was buying from a company from Texas. I received an item from Texas, not handmade, not hand quilted, not vibrant colors, not brushed cotton and it was just a picture printed on cheap polyester/nylon fabric. Hideous. I paid $99.90. Company first offered to refund $30, nope, still way too expensive for a cheap quilt that I wouldn't even use for my pets. Then said if I return the "quilt" to China at my expense they would refund the money. Cost to return? $70. Paypal agreed with this company, denied my claim and I'm sitting here with something I would feel cheated if I paid $10. Paypal is not the company it once was. Use your credit card as that company will have your back. Looking to see what a better option is than Paypal. 20 year customer and I'm done. I do not think anyone actually reads our messages to Paypal.
