PayPal Reviews Summary

The overall reputation of the company reflects significant customer dissatisfaction, particularly regarding its customer service and support. Many reviews highlight frustrations with delayed transactions, ineffective resolution of disputes, and a lack of proactive communication. Customers frequently report feeling unsupported in cases of fraud or issues with received goods. However, some positive sentiments emerge, particularly regarding the perceived reliability of PayPal as a payment method for certain transactions, which customers associate with enhanced buyer protection. Despite this, the overwhelming trend indicates a critical need for improvement in customer service responsiveness and dispute resolution processes.

Paypal has with Amazon the absolute worst customer service I've ever seen. I've been an user for 3 years, went good for the first 2 years, then when I had my first problem with getting refund from a seller, Paypal ignored my 10 times requests to get help on the process, because it was using the Ebay Guarantee so not the usual way. Also by not having direct international competitors, they are with their monopoly abusing tax charges, for example if you as a seller on Ebay refunds a buyer for any reason, you get penalized as the initial Paypal's tax fee isn't included in the refund, so you have to pay on top of the refunded amount. Another example of abuse from them is the terrible currency conversion rate, seriously the same level as scammers in the street of any major cities around the world. And this poor rate is not justified, Revolut for example proves it. Seriously this is the perfect example of "What happens when a company has the monopoly". The others cashless ways are ridiculous & not even comparable to this. Another useless review for the worst company I've ever used its services.

Pay Pal Sucks
July 17, 2020

Purchased 2 items via PayPal and Returned 2 items to retailer and can't get my money back. WORST/NON EXISTENT customer service on the planet. Never will answer their customer service help line, all automated, messaging service a convoluted Joke. DONT USE PAY-EVIL-PAL. Cancel your account, if you can.

I ordered an espresso machine online and paid with Paypal. I never heard from the merchant and never received any merchandise. Paypal sent me a UPS tracking #. When I googled the number it was obviously bogus. It was in my town, but was a commercial establishment with a loading dock and a receiving employee, and was not my private home. The date was wrong, also. I let Paypal know, and they responded that the merchandise had been delivered, and thus the charge was valid. I asked Paypal to google the tracking #, but apparently they did not. I had thought that paying through Paypal would protect me from fraud, but it did not. I lodged a claim with my Visa card, through which I had paid Paypal. Visa researched my claim and ruled that I was correct. Visa gave me a refund.

Hey you, are you trying to steal money legally without ever getting in troubles? Good, then use paypal friends and family payments. They cannot be disputed and it doesnt matter if you dont send the product/ service or if you just steal the money and run. Paypal protects you and declines ALL the disputes made towards you, no matter the proof, if there is an FBI case on you, if other 5 people report your account and create cases to say you are doing illegal activies. IT DOESNT MATTER. PAYPAL is fraud

Do not use
July 16, 2020

They do not care for the seller. They always side with the buyer, even when the buyer received the product. On top of that, they charged me a charge back fee, sending my account further into the negative. Will never use them again.

Their "Theft Policy" is that they will steal from you if you're a seller. I just sold a $2000 camera on Ebay. The buyer had remorse, so I logged into Paypal to refund him. Paypal is going to keep my approx. 4% ($68) transaction processing fee just because they can. Ebay is taking over payment processing from Paypal, and Paypal is taking it out on their own customers.

I have been a member of PayPal for quite some time now, and there was a time where I had to go to the resolution center to dispute a charge from a merchant that requested my payment via PayPal (with my Capital One Credit Card). At the time they were able to issue me a refund, due to the merchant not responding to my email sent to them under PayPal's watch. I even used PayPal to make purchases on ebay, as well as successfully opened PayPal Credit issues by Synchrony Bank (I have 7 credit cards with Synchrony bank). After that they, along with Ebay, Synchrony Bank (issuer of PayPal Credit) worked together to screw me over. Ebay closed my account due to "violation of agreement", while PayPal closed my account that I have cards with, and Synchrony Bank closed the PayPal Credit where I have never used and with $0 balance. I respect their decision and this is a big lesson learned to not trust PayPal, Ebay, and Synchrony Bank*.

Bottom Line: shop at amazon instead of ebay, just use your card for transactions and skip merchants that only accept PayPal, and lastly, consider skipping applying for PayPal Credit.

*While Synchrony bank is a good company and I have been a happy customer service bank. Consider applying Amazon Store Card, or other store cards with them (i. E. JCPenney, TJX/Marshall's/HomeGoods/Sierra Trading Post, and Burlington). I blame PayPal and Ebay than anyone else in this matter.

I filed a dispute with PayPal on May 22,2020. It was pretty cut and dried. I ordered 5 tops. I received 3. Each of those were a different size - one of which was a small. ( I wear L/XL) One was the wrong color. In addition, the tops that did come were not of the quality depicted in the photos. According to the company my order was "Complete". Bear in mind this is after waiting a month for my order to come. I attempted, more than once, to get this taken care of through the seller with no luck. I then accelerated this to a Pay Pay dispute claim on May 22. They told me to have no further contact with the seller. I asked about returning the items I had gotten. The response I got was that any contact with the seller would end the claim process and they would give me the results of their investigation within a couple of weeks. Now, here it is, July 14,2020 - 8 WEEKS LATER. There has been absolutely no action taken. The only result I have is the date for resolution keeps getting put back on an almost daily basis. I get NO FEEDBACK on what, if anything is being done, AND it is now TOO LATE to return my items. In other words, because I used Pay Pal for my purchase, I am out my entire purchase price and am left with items I can't wear.

Paypal offers a false sense of security by offering a make believe security net that is absolutely worthless when you actually need it. Do not be fooled. The resolution department couldnt spot a problem even if its spelled out for them. And you cant reach a person if your life depended on it. Absolutely disappointed.

I used to trust PayPal for all my purchases. Not any more! I had to end up filing a complaint with the FTC because PayPal sided with a Seller who erroneous provided tracking numbers for a shipment that went to someone else in my city. I ended up getting the postal service to send me a photo of the actual package which clearly showed a different name and address in the same city. I went back to the seller with my FTC case number which forced them to look into it and acknowledge that they had made a mistake. PayPal had declared in favor of the Merchant. They closed the case and gave away my money (they never reopen once closed). I had absolutely no other recourse than my bullheaded efforts to make things right for myself WITHOUT the help of the useless PayPal customer service reps who are obviously there to collect a paycheck! They lost me then and lost me forever. At the first opportunity, when there's a viable competitor... I AM SO GONE!

I, along with others, am the victim of a SCAM by which PayPal is used to obtain money. This operation is run out of China and you never get your purchase. I filed a claim with PayPal and provided them with more than ample documentation from the USPS and UPS documenting that my item was delivered to someone else. What was PayPal's response, CLAIM DENIED. I am not one to take a gut punch and have filed a fraud complaint with the Federal Trade Commission and the Attorney General, State of Oklahoma. If you experienced a similar situation, file a complaint because PayPal does not have your back. I no longer use PayPal and a 1 star rating is way to generous!

I recommend avoiding PayPal at all costs. They have no customer support other than messaging which is only answered every few days, they do not uphold their guarantees. You can open a dispute case but if you do not agree with what the seller, PayPal will close the dispute and you are out your money. You can not communicate with anyone at PayPal to discuss the dispute. This company is a fraud. I purchased the item below and received the gray item (a dollar store item with double-sided sticky tape) the seller would not refund my money Or pay for shipping for an item I did not order. PayPal agreed with the seller (I needed to pay $60 to return the items not ordered to receive my $57 refund for the item ordered and not received) and closed my case even though I had responded to every message timely without refunding my money.

Ordered drop front shoe boxes online from a company using the name UnicornPick
After ordering, PayPal emailed the vendor contact information for Daniel Store Ltd

Tried to contact the vendor to cancel order the same day
Found out the information PayPal provided for the vendor was invalid
Googled Daniel Store Ltd for correct contact info and found *******@support.com
Emailed Daniel Store Ltd and they had not shipped the merchandise
I requested to cancel the order and wanted a refund.
They emailed back two days later with 2 Choices:

Keep in mind, I have not received any merchandise as of date
Contacted PayPal, but it's been hours and hours of run-around blackholed communication
Can only reach through chat, but it takes representatives forever to reply
Still going back and forth with PayPal to get $104.99 back

PayPal has restricted my account and has held my money on direct deposit I receive from unemployment. Their customer service sucks and the fact that it's taken over 24 hours to even speak to someone is absurd. Mind you the call center isn't even accepting phone calls and the chat feature is useless when all they do is provide links to articles already read. Obviously I'm contacting them because their $#*!ing articles are useless too. I don't recommend this company to anyone. Especially if you plan on receiving direct deposit. They absolutely suck.

Be careful using PayPal. They allowed me to get ripped out of my money several times. Safer just to use your credit card and be able to dispute a fraudulent transaction with your credit card company. These jack asses don't care if you get ripped off or not. I'll never use PayPal again and will encourage others not to as well.

Just a scam
July 10, 2020

I recomend NOT using Paypal. I used this to accept payments from clients and hold onto money. When i checked my account, over $1000 was missing, being spent all over the world. When i try to contact customer service, i get no response. While i was online with their "online tech support", 2 more charges popped up WHILE I WAS TEXTING WITH A REPRESENTATIVE! This is outrageous and shady business practices. They wont even reply so i can withdraw the remaining money in the account.
