PayPal Reviews Summary

The overall reputation of the company reflects significant customer dissatisfaction, particularly regarding its customer service and support. Many reviews highlight frustrations with delayed transactions, ineffective resolution of disputes, and a lack of proactive communication. Customers frequently report feeling unsupported in cases of fraud or issues with received goods. However, some positive sentiments emerge, particularly regarding the perceived reliability of PayPal as a payment method for certain transactions, which customers associate with enhanced buyer protection. Despite this, the overwhelming trend indicates a critical need for improvement in customer service responsiveness and dispute resolution processes.

The dispute process
October 13, 2020

The dispute process is a joke. I've been trying to get a refund for more than 3 weeks now... you have to message them... then in a couple hours they'll answer your message. I've went days without them responding... it's a total joke. This is 2020. Get with the times. No wonder Amazon is taking all of there business... I'd give them a zero if it would allow me to...

Do NOT transfer money from your PayPal to your bank account unless you can afford to wait for it up to a full WEEK as it sits somewhere in limbo, unaccessible to you. There is no excuse for such antiquated, full service.

Too long of a story, but I will tell you that the fraudulent vendor highsity.com sold me a product with false advertising and bait & switch tactics, and I disputed the charge with paypal; paypal's final resolution, after many months of waiting, is for me to send back the fake item to China (with me paying for international shipping), and then they want proof it was received by hghsity.com - from what I understand, highsity.com doesn't have a legitimate address! So, if I was stupid enough to send it back, how do I know if it's received by the right seller, and how do I get proof it was received? (photos of 5" toy model of a VW model and the advertised cooler I was expecting.

Online payment systems analysts are warning about PayPal's lack of security controls and compliance policies regarding the use of the PayPal logo and payment system for purchases online through third party webpages.

Both the Better Business Bureau and the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau are receiving hundreds of complaints from United States users for the use of the PayPal logo and payment system in fraudulent webpages.

The complaints have increased significantly since the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic. The mobility restrictions issued by some states in the US market have forced consumers to go to the internet to purchase basic goods online.

The complaints claim that the PayPal logo and payment system are consistently used in fraudulent websites because the San Jose-based company has not implemented any measures to vet sellers or websites, and often sides with the fraudulent sellers when denying disputes.

PayPal offered users a purchase insurance that protected them from fraudulent purchases. However, the complaints against PayPal claim that PayPal's insurance places on the buyer the burden of proofing that the seller webpage is fraudulent. The protection that many PayPal users expect when using PayPal to complete transactions online is in fact non-existent when the users are burden with the impossible task of documenting proof of fraud, complaints claim.

Worst app ever
October 12, 2020

I would never used this app again they take for ever to help you with a case. You give all your evidence all the information they needed and they still don't help you with the problem. After 3 months trying to solve my case I receive a email that the case was close because they don't have enough information, when I send pictures emails back and forth. Don't waist your time and money. I order a bike and this is what I received. (Mask)

If you have an issue with a seller, PayPay doesn't care. They will side with the seller at all costs.

So just remember you're on your own if you have an issue. If you use a credit card, and you have adhered to the seller's guidelines, you can successfully dispute. This to me is very important

I purchased a doll online. It took 3 months to arrive. When it did it was nothing like that advertised. I opened a PayPal claim. They asked me to return the doll, which I did. They asked me to provide proof of postage with tracking, which I did. Imagine my surprise when one week later I received an email rejecting my claim as I had not returned the doll.

I was even more bewildered when a few days after that PayPal refunded my postage costs for the return. The one they claim that I never sent. I tried to appeal this decision but they said there was no appeal.

A rotten company! AVOID AVOID AVOID

Their customer is a joke and they will ignore your issues. What an absolute joke! After my money is no longer being "held" I'm deleting the app and will never use their services again. I hope companies like Venmo and cash app put them out of business. They are a fraud!

PayPal supports fraud to keep from paying back consumers money after being taken advantage of. They have benefited from Covid-19 by not being able to speak to a live agent.

Tried to resolve my dispute with the seller because it was a complete fraud. I purchased one thing and received a completely different one. Customer Service at PayPal is completely useless, they just keep you on review status until they decide to close the case and not in your favor and do not base on facts.

A must have for me
October 5, 2020

Just the fact that it acts as a medium between you and the person or business you are making a transaction insures security from sellers with inappropriate ethics. Besides that it makes it very quick to make a transaction on a website or app.

Paypal and Satan are very similar. They both act like they want to help you succeed, but, then chose to undermine you to forward their own selfish interest. I sold some medical equipment to someone, they insisted on using Paypal. I had closed my Paypal (and Ebay account) account because of their incestual relationship they had with Ebay, and their preoccupation with siding with the decision of it's kissing cousin. The buyer of the goods didn't want to transfer the money using cheaper methods (hell, Western Union is cheaper), and convinced me with (like one of the Luminadi convinced JayZ to be Warren Buffets biatch and wear that damn white waiter coat and railroad porter bowtie) assurances that Paypal was better. Then, Paypal freezes the money he sent me, is blackmailing me to either: get a Paypal credit card or hook its tenacles up to my bank account (or sell my soul). I refuse, so they money will sit there for up to 21-days! Darth Paypal!

Incumpdence
October 2, 2020

Very bad site, runned by incumbent staff or supporting scammer. I bought a software from Grindsoft.com, a malware app that supposed to remove threats but it didn't work so I contacted the seller he didn't answer even though on site they offer a 30 days refund so I opened a dispute and escalated, the case kept on postponing 5 times every time we reach deadline, today morning I received an email saying that the transaction is not eligible for buyer protection, What? On the website it says if the product description does not match than its eligible. VERY VERY BAD

Up Yours, PayPal!
October 2, 2020

I give this review not because I believe that the service is terrible. But because PAYPal basically screwed me over. Let me explain. I used PayPal to pay for device online. When I received it, it looked nothing like what was advertised. I contacted the company and asked them for a refund. They said they couldn't give me a full refund unless I sent their product back to China, the cost of which would have been astronomical. I turned the matter over to PayPal who did an "investigation". After a month of waiting you know what their conclusion was? I could get my money back if I sent it back to the company. They didn't even allow me to respond. It was either accept or close the complaint. Wonderful way to do business. Suffice it to say, I will not be using PayPal anytime in the near future.

I called PayPal to cancel a transaction and was scammed out of 300.00. They told me they were going to refund my banking account but they deducted 300.00. I was then told I needed to go to a Walmart because my account was hacked. They were going to take all my money. First I believed it was someone claiming to be with PayPal but after trying to report it and doing research and finding out there are many more like me I realized I was scammed by PayPal! Research PayPal they are SCAMMERS and the buyer protection is LAUGHABLE
