PayPal Reviews Summary

The overall reputation of the company reflects significant customer dissatisfaction, particularly regarding its customer service and support. Many reviews highlight frustrations with delayed transactions, ineffective resolution of disputes, and a lack of proactive communication. Customers frequently report feeling unsupported in cases of fraud or issues with received goods. However, some positive sentiments emerge, particularly regarding the perceived reliability of PayPal as a payment method for certain transactions, which customers associate with enhanced buyer protection. Despite this, the overwhelming trend indicates a critical need for improvement in customer service responsiveness and dispute resolution processes.

It was absolutely horrible... it all began with a purchase from a beauty company that was over $150 so I decided as an extra buffer, to do the purchase using my PayPal account, what a regrettable decision!. When I receive the item it was not what I ordered based on discussions with the seller who by the way, was more than open to do the refund. I now open the door to I dark path when I notified PayPal of the return sent item pictures, shipping labels and text conversations with the seller. Was advised by PayPal to return the item that I did and provide the return tracking information and text from the seller's agreement. PayPal notified me after the fact! Of a different shipping address other than what was on the return package and different from what the seller agreed on, PayPal continue to notify me even after I called them and they finally read my correspondences/email of all the information I sent. I was given a deadline to provide said information... I decided to now work with the seller directly since I now did not have the product or my refund. PayPal sent a final notice indicating that my claim was denied! I am grateful that I had a honest and understanding seller who had no issues with working and making me whole through this nightmare that took over two months to resolve. Going forward I will not be engaging PayPal as a buffer to any new transactions, I found them to be useless and not an advocate on my best interest in a case that I clearly provided all requirements. I will look into other options when it comes to protecting my on line purchases when I gave PayPal control to act as liaison between myself and the seller I gave them way too much credibility...

Twice I have been sucked in to purchasing something that is advertised as one thing but when I get it well lets just say it isn't as described. First it was the little caddy that slides between the seats in the car. The picture showed a cup holder and a nice size compartment to put your phone and change. Well I was offer to upgrade to leather so I did. When I got the item it was two cardboard pieces of crap that was covered in fake leather and you couldn't get anything in there and there was no cup holder. I filed a complaint guess what no refund and if I wanted to mail it back you guessed it I had to mail it back to China. So I wasted some money. Well fast forward a couple of years and I see these wonderful looking dresses and tops. I ordered 2 dresses and 1 top all were described as 100% cotton, I measured myself because I wanted to make sure I got the correct size. The two dresses were big enough for an elephant and I followed the size chart. The shirt was great till it got to my waist it was tapered so small it didn't look right on me. So I ask to return them. After several emails with paypal and the seller they finally agreed to send me a preprinted label for shipping. I sent the stuff back to china for almost 50 bucks. Guess what 3 months later they were returned to me with no notice except undeliverable. So I go to paypal after sending them the return information and the shipping information for my return. They had already closed my case with no notification to me what so ever. No return. I have reached out to them several times and I get no reply. There isn't a phone number to call them either. I just have stopped using them for anything. It is crazy is Paypal owned by a china company?

Had the worst experience with PayPal, order items 5 months ago as a guest account,

No delivery date from the seller for 6 weeks,

Kept chasing seller and PayPal without any help,

Send dispute through PayPal site and through my Credit Card company,

PayPal now says that as you have sent dispute through Credit Card they cannot support any more

So PayPal's claim that they provide 180 days guarantee is all fake...

Till today neither item has arrived nor I got my money back...

It was a chair, I bought another chair from the local market in Sep 2020 after 6 weeks of waiting for the delivery date from PayPal.

Muito eficiente e prático
December 27, 2020

The worst service ever.
December 25, 2020

If you want just proceed to pay with the card - no chance, need to registered first. No options. Even so, website does not work correct. Cannot put correct date of the card expiration. Payment does not proceed with no reason.

Service
December 24, 2020

Their service sucks, big time. They want to make money without providing any service. On is on hold for over 30 minutes, u get through, then get transferred again. They tie up your money, ignore your requests, the lack of communication is a large 0. I will only recommend them to enemies.

I have a subscription-based directory website where businesses sign up to get listed for $37.00 a year. I had a customer's directory subscription renew but who then - after 4+ months into the new subscription period - opened a PayPal buyer's dispute process saying they did not receive their merchandise - Case ID: PP-D-*******. The point being here is that there is NO physical merchandise involved but an intangible item in the form of a yearly subscription.
So, I started down the road of having to provide my evidence to PayPal of the service (business listing) I was providing to the customer that they had signed up to. I sent a page document with my evidence to PayPal's Resolution Center; including dates, website URLs where the customer's business profile was listed. And so I waited...
And I waited... I kept logging into PayPal to check the status of the dispute and still was under review. So I waited...
I then received an email from Paypal stating "$37,00 USD has now been debited from your PayPal account for the following reason(s): We did not receive proof of fulfillment for intangible items." I not only had the money ($37.00) STOLEN from my account but they gave me a Chargeback charge on top of it!
Trying to contact PayPal is the worst experience ever! I tried to contact them to dispute the refund but had to eventually go to their Facebook page and make a comment (among the thousands of unhappy customer comments) and eventually received a pat response saying they would escalate it to someone more experienced. And guess what? I never heard a thing.
PayPal as a service is absolutely diabolical and their customer service is the pits. As a result I cancelled all of my business subscriptions with them and will be moving over to Payoneer.

PayPal used to be a fantastic service. I should know since I have been with them for almost 22 years. In that time I have only asked for 2 refunds. Once about 15 years ago for a phone I purchased from ebay which I later found out was stolen. PayPal gave me the money back the same day. The second dispute was earlier this year from a company named Curology (another $#*!ty company). They sold me a product that was different then what I purchased. I asked Curology for a refund and let them know that I would be happy to pay the shipping and send the product back unopened. They denied my request stating they don't do refunds and they can't take product back even though it's not been opened. So I went to PayPal and started a dispute. PayPal requires that you have asked for a refund from the merchant directly before filing a dispute. That seemed like a good indication that I would be getting a refund. Little did I know that the merchant was able to deny my refund again and PayPal will not do anything for you unless you file an escalation. So essentially the merchant is allowed to deny your refund twice but PayPal still won't do anything for you. I had 2 weeks to file the escalation even though the merchant had 30 days to reply to the dispute refund request from PayPal. So PayPal's actual customers get half the time as the non-customer to respond. I was not able to check my email during that 2 week period of time because I was doing hospice work caring for a dying man 24 hours a day. When I finally got home I checked my email I found the case closed. I started messaging PayPal. In the beginning they seemed willing to help me. That changed after an agent sent me a message that stated I would get a refund if the merchant didn't reply again in 5 days. I got no further messages and no refund. I messaged them again asking about my refund and that is when they started deleting my messages from the message center. I finally had to phone customer service. (Almost impossible to find their number.) The customer service agent had no empathy whatsoever. His response was essentially "too bad you should have escalated your dispute." This was parroted by the supervisor I also talked with.

To add to this in 2017 someone used my address to create over 20 fraudulent PayPal accounts. Nothing was done even though I called PayPal and let them know this. I still get collection letters to this day regarding those accounts. I highly recommend that you go with a different e-commerce company like Shopify, Cashapp, Skrill, or Payoneer and stay the hell away from PayPal. After almost 22 years of loyalty I closed my account. I guess they won't care about losing me as a customer with the other millions they have but I vowed that I would let people know the truth about how they treat customers if you ever need anything more then the regular service. I was actually planning on becoming a merchant but too bad for them they won't be making another penny off of me.

Usless
December 19, 2020

They just keep running you in circles. Until you give up. What a sorry excuse of a company. Why can't they be shut down. They are working with the scammers because they get a percentage of the sales. Like their momma and ours teaches us (DONT Bite The hand that feeds you) they make money from the scammers they don't make money from a refund. I'll work with my bank. For something shipped unknown what it is. Some plastic worth 5 cents on a $100 order denied refund after picture that was clearly not what was ordered. PayPal can french kiss my dirty $#*! hole. That way I will get something for my money.

Waiting weeks for money
December 17, 2020

Do not use this if you are looking for instant payment processing. They just play around with your money and make you jump hoops to get it. Most ridiculous company on the planet. Always heard rumors of them doing this and sure enough holding to large payments of mine for no reason besides using it themselves while I struggle. Absolutely Horrible Company!

Get far from paypal
December 17, 2020

Ater trying to open an account with them and loading it with 5000 USD, I was told that I was unsuitable as client, and instead of returning the money, I was told to wait 180 days, even if I couldn´t use the account. And is impossible to contact anyone. They only have a complicated system to write emails, where you get only general bot answers. I have never seen such a bad CRM anywhere.

I am on a limited account service, I had to refund all my customer transactions loosing my income, and now im unable to deactivate my account. They have my personal and sensitive information that I have no power to withdrawl. This isn't just theft, but now Im worried that I won't be able to remove my information from these crooks ever. They have no case and their is no longer any questions I can answer for the 4th time. Why are they able to brake the law and continue to provide a bogus money handling.
I refuse to except that my earnings and account information is in no way theirs to control but mine and I will not be told that they won't release my account. UNACCEPETALE

Paypal have a promotion going on where if you make 3 transaction for $35 you are supposed to get $25. Too avoid paying the promotion PayPal will refund you 1 cent. That seems your transaction ineligible due to the terms and conditions. They did this too me multiple times on my account and my mom's.

Update to review: After sending report to BBB and filing police report and having my credit union look into this, my money has been deposited back as a chargeback. I believe my credit union is responsible though for getting the money back and not paypal. I still plan to not use them ever again.

My paypal account was hacked at 1 am while I was asleep and someone put a business name in as a payee, I never pay people thru paypal, I only make small purchases or use it for donations, the amount was $2650 to some dental lab, really? They should have higher stricter standards with security like our banks do, They put it thru and my bank account sucked of all the money in our checking account and the hacker proceeded to try and get two more $2500 transactions thru, no money left so now they kicked back one of them to my paypal balance, currently dealing with fraud department with Synchrony on that but resolution center is a joke. You cannot call and get anyone on the phone most times, messaging on their site is a joke as no one is really there like a chat session, after filing resolution an email came back in one day saying they determined it was not unauthorized, when someone tries three times to get high dollar amounts it is a hacker. I never make large purchases and they should have reviewed my history of purchases. No customer service at all, it sounds like such a great outfit and it is good for convenience but if you cannot even offer good communication something is wrong. Paypal was warned in early 2020 about hackers and they did nothing about it. I will never use them again and plan to do reviews everywhere I can. No more paypal

Paypal is a money grabber
December 14, 2020

So I needed to get my car fixed and I made a purchase of four items from different vendors at eBay I expected PayPal to collect one payment from my bank account which you would have cost me one overdraft fee PayPal uses their customers accounts as a clearing House I bought four items got four transactions charged to my accounts for the items and additional four transactions to the state of Minnesota for the taxes each one individually done thus $140 in overdraft fees and no recourse because PayPal says eBay says to do it that way and eBay says no that's not what we do so hands up in the air from both of them implying you're s****** buddy I spent a year trying to deal with it they have since sent it to collections I spoke to collections and they're not even going to pursue it based on what I've told them I try to get PayPal to write it off and not have it show up on my credit but they can't do it we've sold the debt there's nothing we can do once again hands up in the air nothing we can do there is something somebody can do but nobody wants to do it because it cost them money what about my $140 based on their business practices I will never use PayPal again and I will never recommend it to anybody else and I will ask them to close their account I would love the federal government to get the companies that are not banks and moving money to be held accountable to both the sever and recipient for their actions
Right now there's no accountability
So close you pay pal accounts and use prepaid cards instead at least you will have more control
