The overall reputation of the company reflects significant customer dissatisfaction, particularly regarding its customer service and support. Many reviews highlight frustrations with delayed transactions, ineffective resolution of disputes, and a lack of proactive communication. Customers frequently report feeling unsupported in cases of fraud or issues with received goods. However, some positive sentiments emerge, particularly regarding the perceived reliability of PayPal as a payment method for certain transactions, which customers associate with enhanced buyer protection. Despite this, the overwhelming trend indicates a critical need for improvement in customer service responsiveness and dispute resolution processes.

After contacting PayPal within an hour of an accidental money transfer, they refused to cancel it. I wrote to the stranger who received the money to please send it back and she basically thanked me for the free money. PayPal is a horrible service that can't determine when accidents happen. I can't understand how hard it is to just cancel a transaction if customer service can tell that it was a mistake.
The most useless customer service of any banking system in the world. You are the victim of any "upgrade" of their system screw ups they make. And you won't be allowed to close out your account or unlink your bank. All their customer service appears to be out of India.
Shipped item in working condition. Buyer called pay pal one month later and said the item was damaged upon arrival. Pay pay refunded him 300 and sent me to collections. This guy with the help of PayPal scam the item for 50 bucks. Thanks PayPal.
DO NOT LET THESE PEOPLE ANYWHERE NEAR YOUR FINANCIAL INFORMATION. I had a fraudulent charge on my account recently, and contacted Paypal to address it. I was more or less told that I was out of luck, as unless you carry your device in a bag around your neck at all times then Paypal isn't responsible for someone using it to access your account... so basically the same level of protection that you can expect from Ebay, their parent company. Whoever accessed my account wasn't even required to log into it first and Paypal STILL honored the transaction (it was a "guest" charge). I was told that if I leave my device unattended at any time for any length of time and anyone uses it to charge my account (WITHOUT actually having to log into it first, mind you) then its completely my problem. Then to add insult to injury they STILL allowed the fraudulent charge to clear while I while still debating this with them. These people are completely untrustworthy... its not a matter of IF they rip you off, its WHEN.
Disgusting company, don't use PayPal, I have big headaches with customers service, nobody can't help me transfer my money from PayPal to Bank account, I don't have access to my money when I want, I speak with customer service 3 times with no results, nobody can't explain what happened, in advertising say transfer your money in seconds but this is false advertising for me I don't have success transfer my money in one week.
I hope in the future fix this and definitely close my PayPal account.
I have had PayPal for several years for my business. Had a perfect record with them. Used them for receiving down payments on eBay. My son has same name as me tried to open account with PayPal. Then crap hit fan PayPal shut me down won't let me remove my bank accounts or anything. Greatly affected my business. I now tell all my customers to avoid PayPal like the plague! I wouldn't be so upset if I could of at least got a reasonable response from PayPal as to the action they took. It is impossible to get a hold of a warm body on the phone with customer service. I'm sure a complete misunderstanding on PayPal fault but to shut me completely down was insane and now I see why they have so many bad reviews. ALL IN ALL AVOID PAYPAL!
Put PayPal "On Hold"...
PayPal randomly put transactions "on hold" with no rhyme or reason - this would normally annoy me but I'd get on with my life but just at the moment I NEED every penny to keep us going.
Mine is an Active account that's regularly used and in the last few days PayPal have just picked transactions to stop for no reason. Including one that was part of five by the same person - four were fine, one is On Hold still?
Their Customer Service team are laughable - I've been made promises they haven't kept, been told they "are a bank", told to spend my own money (of which I have little) until the money is cleared, and so many more terrible examples of lies and frankly idiotic statements.
PayPal still manage to take their fee from transactions On Hold - their cut of the pie is fine but mine isnt(!?)... Anyone else think that's funny?
Has sold my Polar 600 watches through ebay. After buyer has kept it for a couple of weeks and decided to return it, PayPal just withheld my money, gave me a notice on negative balance and that was it. No rights for sellers to dispute or refuse to refund. Unfair and unjust.
The scammers used Paypal to scam people. My son was tricked into buying cheap things by the website Decorsdays.com. He was using my PayPal account because he did not have a Paypal account and I did not know about it until I got the receipt from Paypal. He did not get a receipt or anything from this website. I contacted Paypal and with out investigate it further Paypal sent me an email that said it was a legitimate transaction because my account was used for the transaction and the dispute was closed. The scammer got $50 and Paypal got its service fee money and I got nothing. Paypal Users beware! If you got scammed by crooks then Paypal won't be on your side.
PayPal does not protect the consumer, I had a case where I was advised by my local Trading Standards dept that the seller does not have a leg to stand on as the product was not as described on their website. The seller admitted that the description was wrong, but PayPal ruled in favour of the seller as they reckoned that it was not substantially different to the advertised product without even checking with me how this difference affects the use of the product. PayPal also said they would send a transcript of their conversation with me so I could forward onto Trading Standards, that was over a month ago and still no sign of it.
No customer service. You send a query by email and they send a canned response with a link to something completely unrelated to your query. Useless. They rip you off with currency conversions AND charge you a fee on top of it. While I am currently located in the UK, I added a US dollar credit card, and they took pounds Sterling from it! After all the fees to convert usd to gbp from my bank and back to usd by PayPal to make an eBay purchase from eBay.com, I lost almost 15 dollars! PayPal is also making it increasingly difficult to make claims. They reject claims even though you provide proof of the claim. So why are we bothering to use them anymore? There's no advantage.
Edit: So PayPal is down to one star now. I'm no longer using PayPal at all. I use a VPN when I use the internet for an added layer of privacy. PayPal refuses to allow me to make purchases whilst connected to my VPN. When I try to make a purchase, I log in. Paypal asks me for the code from authenticator app. I enter it and then it says we need you to enter a security code so we really know it's you... mind you, I just entered the code from my authenticator app. So they text me a code and I enter it. Now I go to make the payment and the payment never completes. It just keeps taking me back to the payment screen. Remember, I've already proven who I am, but PayPal won't complete the sale until I exit my VPN. In total contrast, I can access my online banking with just my password plus security code and send £5000 to another person with no other challenges. If my bank has no problem with my VPN, then why should PayPal. They treat me like a criminal! So the only reason I kept PayPal was for purchases on eBay... well eBay accepts ApplePay now... goodbye PayPal!
I don't even want to give them 1 star. More like negative 1billion. PayPal has held a payment of mine from me for 21 days now and then after 2 days on the phone trying to get it. I finally got a supervisor who lifted the hold. I transferred it with an immediate transaction. Not only did I get charged at the beginning for services but they charged me for and immediate transfer that has now been pending for 24 hours. I call and it disconnects. It won't even let you hold to speak to someone. When you try chatting no one ever gets back to you. They ask for ridiculous proof of identity when they already have sufficient proof. Only for that to put you through more bulls%*+. They are straight thieves. 21 days they have had my money and I cannot get help to get it. They need to be sued and shut down. DO NOT EVER USE PAYPAL UNLESS YOU WANT YOUR MONEY HELD FROM YOU FOR A MONTH.
I bought something using paypal to pay for it and i never received the item. Then when i investigated it i realized i was scammed by some person. The original website i visited was lysol.com but the payment was directed to some dubious persons AOL email. Then i filed a dispute for the amount and didnt hear back for a month when a sudden email notified me that the case was closed and it was ruled in favor of the seller because they provided a tracking number that was had details from amazon to my town that opened 2 days after i had filed the complain. Also, after i bought these items they never gave me a confirmation email or delivery updates at all. Then i called them and they said they would go and see if the tracking number was valid. I waited another month with no updates so i contact them again. Now they tell me i have to contact USPS to get the info and upload to their website to prove i did not receive it. The reason i used paypal to pay was that it was convenient. Now that they asked me to jump through all these hoops to get my money back... looking back at it i should have just pulled out my credit card and paid for it... Now about them NOT BEING TRUSTWORTHY... i told them about what had transpired with the fake website and all and they sort of glossed over it like i was crazy and said they will investigate this seller and see if he/she had other similar activities. The fact that i have been using paypal for a long time with other transactions of greater amounts with no issues didnt seem to make my claim anymore credible then a tracking number with no details. This is the company that i trusted my bank account to. Mind you this is only a second time that this occurred. I should have learned my lesson with paypal the first time around.
PayPal locked my account over 3 years ago. I was told they needed to verify my identity. I have sent them all the forms and information they have requested. After 3 years of them giving me the run around, my account is still locked with over $6000 in it. I feel they are going to force me to file a lawsuit before they'll unlock my account.
I have not logged into my PayPal account for several years now, and I had forgotten my password. Trying to reset the password the phone number they have on file is no longer in service. They want you to message them, but guess what you have to long in. REALLY! So have spent the last 3 days trying to talk to someone over the phone, I get to where it rings into I am assuming the Customer Service area and then: We can not deal with you over the phine at this time, click, and they hang up. Terrible customer service help.
MORE THAN 2 YEARS TRYING TO GET MY OWN 5000$ MONEY OF THE ACCOUNT!
I have been working with the best swiss banks for years and have been in the financial sector my entire life. But never have I crossed such a bad service as the one I received here. I have written, spoken to more than 50 paypal employees! ALL SAY IT WILL BE SOLVED. AND THEN IT NEVER DOES! WORST SERVICE I HAVE EVER EXPERIENCED IN MY ENTIRE LIFE! THEY DONT FOLLOW UP, DONT CARE ABOUT CUSTOMER, IGNORE REQUESTS!
I moved countries and have more than 5000$ LOCKED IN PAYPAL which they have NOT wanted to transfer to my account! With a million excuses. I have dealt with more than 30 employees now, they just answer via chat and disappear after a few seconds until the next colleague continues the conversation. But they dont even take the time to read the case, they just repeat parrots and are "ZERO" solution oriented.
I WANT MY OWN MONEY and the DONT WANT TO GIVE IT BACK!
I have send address proofs, passport copies, bank details all they have asked for and the drama continues! No apologies!
How can this be possible nowadays!
Digital purchase protection, forget about it!
Have a digital subscription for malware. Was sent email for a specific renewal price for each computer. Renewal charge was 3x the price in the email. Looked towards PayPal for help in recovering extra, no joy! An agreement is an agreement regardless of amount actually charged. They could have charged 100 times the agreed renewal rate and paypal won't help. They will take your money for their services by damn, but need resolution to a problem, not them, digital purchases are your problem regardless of cost. Yes I used paypal for this online purchase. BEST NOT YO USE PAYPAL FOR ANY DIGITAL PURCHASE!
I had Paypal block the access to my account, without any valid explanation. I have reserached that they do that to many, many customers, without any reason or little explanation! They are a fraud and a cyber bully therefore if you reach out to your State general attorney as well as the attorney general, they will contact them and require Paypal to explain what is goin g on. In my case, they released my funds, miraculously > I can't stand them.
Anyway if you want your money contact the attorney general. Goodluck
Please listen to this warning: DO NOT USE PAYPAL! My bank account was compromised and the hacker was getting money based on credits to my PayPal. I immediately closed my bank account and got a new one. When I informed PayPal that the charges (which they authorized on credit) were fraudulent, I received a generic message back after 3 days stating that their investigation led them to believe that they were not unauthorized charges and I owed them $500. Now, 6 days later, after my bank account was drained by a hacker and I created a new account, PayPal is demanding that I pay them a total of $600. There is no indication about where the new $100 charge is coming from and no one is answering in the message center. When I called customer service (after waiting for 30 minutes), the girl who answered was VERY rude and didn't listen to anything I said. She continued to talk over me and eventually hung up on me. When I called back immediately, I waited another 30 minutes and I was told that there were no customer service reps available and to send a message in that god forsaken message center, which I have also been using without getting anywhere.
If you want your money stolen, then be told it is your fault, then to treated poorly and then to be charged more money without explanation, then PayPal is perfect for you. If that's not what you are looking for (what is surprise), then DO NOT USE PAYPAL!
They sided with a scammer on ebay, denied my claim. Had to get a police report to get eBay to do anything and they also denied my claim. Once I got the police report, it still took 2 plus weeks to get it sent back to paypal minus fees. They stoled it then charged me fees. I still don't have possession of it. The tracking number they put on my order was not related to my address or my name, they didn't care. Ebay has no guarantee and PayPal is a house of crooks.
Answer: I would not recommend PayPal to anyone for anything they're a joke of a business
Answer: Paypal will NOT be on your side if the item is not as described. I bought an item that was totally wrong, advertised as "handmade, hand quilted, made of brushed Kona cotton", picture was beautiful with wonderful quilting and vibrant colors and I was buying from a company from Texas. I received an item from Texas, not handmade, not hand quilted, not vibrant colors, not brushed cotton and it was just a picture printed on cheap polyester/nylon fabric. Hideous. I paid $99.90. Company first offered to refund $30, nope, still way too expensive for a cheap quilt that I wouldn't even use for my pets. Then said if I return the "quilt" to China at my expense they would refund the money. Cost to return? $70. Paypal agreed with this company, denied my claim and I'm sitting here with something I would feel cheated if I paid $10. Paypal is not the company it once was. Use your credit card as that company will have your back. Looking to see what a better option is than Paypal. 20 year customer and I'm done. I do not think anyone actually reads our messages to Paypal.
Answer: They have become a money laundry scamming allowing company. Stay away at any cost.
Answer: USPS delievered it to the wrong address my pacakge was supposed to be delievered too 35710 Bay Morgan Ln, Fallbrook, CA 92028 when USPS delivered it to an address simillar to this one 12354 Alcatal Street (do not know the exact address since they did not email me, but you can call USPS and ask, and that is how I found out) Fallbrook, CA 92028, right city and zip code, far away address.
Answer: I'm thinking someone has to work there, if you send messages you will get a canned reply, I get the same response from 10 messages, basically "suck it up buttercup, you have just been played" but if you try to actually talk to a person good luck.
Answer: They dont. They wait for you to forget it. You get money back if you fill in a form after 180 days.
Answer: Do never send money to PayPal. That money is lost. This company has become a Giants money laundry company.
Answer: No there is not. PayPal protects scammers. Be sure to never use them.
Answer: It doesn't matter if you report them or not PayPal won't do nothing about it they continued to let the scammers operate on their site and do not protect consumers
Answer: SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE WITH THAT LOT, THEY CLAIM TO REFUND AMOUNTS PAID FOR ITEMS THAT DO NOT ARRIVE THATS "BS" I HAVE HAD 3 SUCH CLAIMS FROM 14 TRANSACTIONS AND HAVE NEVER GOT A REFUND DESPITE THEIR CLAIMS, THEY ARE CROOKS, FULL STOP, KEEP WELL CLEAR OF THEM.
