The overall reputation of the company reflects significant customer dissatisfaction, particularly regarding its customer service and support. Many reviews highlight frustrations with delayed transactions, ineffective resolution of disputes, and a lack of proactive communication. Customers frequently report feeling unsupported in cases of fraud or issues with received goods. However, some positive sentiments emerge, particularly regarding the perceived reliability of PayPal as a payment method for certain transactions, which customers associate with enhanced buyer protection. Despite this, the overwhelming trend indicates a critical need for improvement in customer service responsiveness and dispute resolution processes.

I have been a satisfied customer of PayPal since 2004! Most of the time I was treated fairly, probably around 90% of the time their explanation was all right. Within the last year or so they have changed. My credit rating is above 800, and my credit limit with them was just under 8000. 00. I started noticing something amiss when I had accumulated around 4500. 00 in winning playing PayPal supported (or so indicated) was not showing even though the transaction said the money had been transferred. I called them and their answer was vague. That seemed to have started all this nonsense!
The next thing I noticed; I received a letter stating my PayPal account was suspended. When I started attempting to find out what was happening, then suddenly, I cannot contact anyone. You would immediately go into the "Que" with no possibility of talking to anyone! I began attempting to contact them with no luck and then started trying to find out through their online help desk. The one article I read stated that with account limitations-an explanation would or should be following by email!
After two weeks of this, I gave up stayed on hold for almost two hours trying to get an answer. I actually got a person to talk to me. It seems they do not allow a virtual private network. The VPN was recommended because I travel and was fearful my information over public networks could be compromised. As a matter of fact, the very reason I used a VPN was to protect my data and this seemed like the best solution.
Would not anyone think an email message would have been nice; just alert a user of over 15 years. But I guess this requires effort and just did not want to bother. All $ and nothing else. To get an explanation from them!
In September I asked PayPal to investigate a transaction with Paddle.com. It was system software that I could not get to install on my computer. It seems that if you take delivery of software it is considered as completion of the order regardless of whether it works or not. In this case, their techs could not get it to install either after 3 of their techs tried to get it installed. Finally, I told them I would prefer a refund. This PayPal was unlike the company I started with.
It seemed coincidental that after I called them about the funds that were not transferred, and then the resolution problem that they refused to adjust………. THEN and only then my account was placed under limitation! Now I cannot get anything at all from them. I do not know if the amount is the problem or the VPN; but this is the main reason people use a VPN!
This is not the PayPal I started using in 2004, Non-receptive, unhelpful, and oblivious to an individual user and their needs. Seems to ruin the comfort of having an ally on internet purchases.
At this point, I will not allow PayPal to handle any money for me in the future.
I purchsed a laptop battery charger, using Paypal, from a company 'US Power Supply' thinking it was a US based company. They stated on their site that the delivery would take 5 - 10 days. After I placed an order, I got an email from a Chinese guy, and realized that it was a Chinese company. I got very suspicious about their delivery time. After about 15 days of waiting on delivery, I realized that I was right. It was a Chinese business trying to sell products as a US company with wrong delivery time. After after a month, it was not delivered, and Paypal would not let me cancel it. After about 45 days, it was delivered, and Paypal closed my case. Meanwhile, I got a new charger from a US based company. To make it short, Paypal shouldn't be allowed to help Chinese company taking money out of US with scamming type of business practice.
I purchased something on ebay and then cancelled the order with the seller agreeing to the cancellation, but never got my refund. I contacted ebay and they told me to contact paypal since that is how I payed for the purchase. Paypal then told me that there was nothing they could do and to contact my bank. Well my bank told me that since the money came directly out of my account with my name attached to it and not a card, they couldn't open a dispute and that paypal would have to handle it. I have spoken on the phone with paypal multiple times and they keep giving me the run around saying that they cannot do anything and basically that I won't be getting my $116 back. You would think that paypal would be a secure and trustworthy site to use, however they have proven me very wrong.
No human, no phone, no email. Only automated non-responses. They do not read submission. Seems to favor Chinese importer of counterfeit goods. Goods shipped after order cancelled as counterfeit. Seller refused to take back. PayPal doesnt even respond except with automated we will see what seller says. At this rate I will close account and just take major loss. NEVER AGAIN.
PayPal is a ZERO (0) Star Rated Company.
Never ever in my life have I dealt with a worse company in the Financial Sector. Try sending them a message you get exactly the same reply from the ROBOT SAKX regardless of your question.
They don't have a customer service department responding, maybe try to chat message - uh uh. Not available. So it is email or nothing:
Here is an example of my emails:
ME: "I want to close " my account"
SAKX "Sorry the decision to close your account is irrevocable"
ME: "That's what I want to do but it won't let me."
SAKX "Sorry the decision to close your account is irrevocable"... and that just goes round in circles ad infinitum...
Took me 180 days to get them to release my money and even then it was a 30 minute phone call.
Just as well it is a London number, although you will always get an American for some reason.
I am honestly struggling to think of ANYTHING positive about PAYPAL. Simple answer there isn't anything.
They have changes to their LEGAL pages but when you click on them they just open a blank window.
Absolutely USELESS, CLUELESS and I think they are running close to the line legally with the way they retain funds for no reason that they will discuss.
Just now
Total joke
Total joke! Tried to send some money to my sister in Ukraine but they did not allowed me... INERNATONAL MONEY TRANSFER SERVICE! The think which is really make angry is that SHE CAN TRANSFER THE MONEY IN TO MY ACCOUNT AND I CANT TO HER! EVEN IF I CALLED AND MESSAGED SO MANY TIMES ASKING THAT IS TRUSTED ACCOUNT AND I GIVE ALL PERMISSION! All what I got is one standard answer - PayPal have rights to block / cancel transactions! Sorry but this is terrible! Waisted so much time to calling txt.
Useless service! Just can't UNDERSTAND why Ukraine is not trusted countries?! Even if I SAID TO THEM SO MANY TIMES - I TRUST THAT ACCOUNT... AND CAN PROVE ITS MY SISTER'S ACCOUNT - But not! They just blocked the transaction!
Paypal has no buyer Protection for buyers who are scammed by false webpages. They charge you for item, send a fake tracking number. Since it is marked as delivered PAYPAL refuses dispute.
Allow money to be stollen from your accounts woth no security checks. £300 removed from a bank account via PayPal then they closed down the account and PayPal don't flag this as fraud and say its OK. Stupid company needs shutting down
Here are the issues:
PayPal fees are already fairly high if you are acting as a small business - about 3.5-4.5+% depending on various factors which are pretty much unexplained
It's not available in some countries but they won't tell you which - it's trial and error
Doesn't work for unknown reasons at times in other countries - no idea when to expect the failure
Their monthly statements aren't available until well into following month - January's arrived today, Feb 12. Reports often hang and never complete.
And on top of all that, customer service when there is a problem is virtually non-existent. One payment was disputed, I called payee and they said they made an error in disputing it because my name was not what showed up on their Credit Card statement. They contact their credit card company to drop the dispute. A month later PayPal still has not resolved the issue and started charging $15 for the now non-existent dispute. No idea if they are doing anything at all to resolve it. Tip - if there is a dispute just refund the money immediately and collect it outside of PayPal. Better - don't use PayPal in the first place.
Attached is their update which you can't ask questions about. I sent PayPal the email from person saying the dispute was in error and PayPal never provided feedback about what else they would want. (Some items blanked for privacy.) They couldn't even spell received correctly!
Been trying to reach a person to help with a issue. Not sure if they employ any people for customer service. Been trying to reach someone to help with a payment issue. No response
Had a company send me wrong item. I was made to pay for return postage to get refund. I sent back using the company's return portal. Sent item with their return label which had tracking. Can see it was delivered. Can prove it was. Company refuse refund say they havent got parcel.
So i take it up with Paypal. Open dispute. They take forever then declined saying no tracking number is supplied. OF COURSE I SUPPLIED. It's even on the application on their website! So I contact them and the woman says yes i can see it right here! And reopens case. Now its just been declined again because "no tracking was supplied".
Great. So now im out of pocket and stuffed around by not only the scam company but paypal too.
Merchant did nothing wrong. USPS delivered to the wrong address. Have proof of delivery. Can't get help.
My opinion is that this site is very accurate. And I recommend it to all my friends. I think this system can be very useful.
Had a few dealings with PayPal recently and I'm very pleased and pleasantly surprised as to their helpfulness and efficiency. They got me 3 separate refunds for unsatisfactory purchases in double quick time. A Big Thank You To PayPal. I hope you will continue being so helpful to you clients!
The company is horrible customer service is almost no existent, when you call to get help the mindless drones working spit out generic answers and lie!
I put 500 dollars on my card today and i never received it in my account. I called paypal let them know what was goin on sent them the receipt only for them to tell me it will take 7 business days for them to track it smfh i will never use this card again.
I ordered a product from a company. The company claimed i had insufficient funds in my account. But the money was taken. So then i got double charged once from the seller and once from paypal so i owe paypal money when i never had a balance with them to cover the so called insufficient funds. Trying to get a hold of anyone at paypal is terrible as it just isnt accessible. So im losing double partly due to their incompetence.
If you don't receive an item that you purchased using your paypal account, contact your credit card company and they will professionally address the issue. Paypal resolution center is useless.
I made a claim to lush because he gave me an incomplete order and he did not want to make a refund, I made a claim in paypal for 28 dollars and paypal asks me to file a claim in the fbi. Paypal no longer works

This is literally the worst service ever. Everything was fine till the point I got my account restricted. I tied to provide the correct documentation needed to have m account updated but, this was not possible. Then I started a message thread with the help desk. Here things get interesting; during your conversation, your answers are answer always from a different person, and basically, no one goes through the effort of reading the previous messages. The bottom line, I had to start over at any new agent. I spoke with 15 of them, and I wasn't able to receive helo. They all gave me the same standard answer. I believe that this service is useless, poorly designed and poorly managed. I strongly suggest you use a different company or move your online account o another service provider.
Answer: I would not recommend PayPal to anyone for anything they're a joke of a business
Answer: Paypal will NOT be on your side if the item is not as described. I bought an item that was totally wrong, advertised as "handmade, hand quilted, made of brushed Kona cotton", picture was beautiful with wonderful quilting and vibrant colors and I was buying from a company from Texas. I received an item from Texas, not handmade, not hand quilted, not vibrant colors, not brushed cotton and it was just a picture printed on cheap polyester/nylon fabric. Hideous. I paid $99.90. Company first offered to refund $30, nope, still way too expensive for a cheap quilt that I wouldn't even use for my pets. Then said if I return the "quilt" to China at my expense they would refund the money. Cost to return? $70. Paypal agreed with this company, denied my claim and I'm sitting here with something I would feel cheated if I paid $10. Paypal is not the company it once was. Use your credit card as that company will have your back. Looking to see what a better option is than Paypal. 20 year customer and I'm done. I do not think anyone actually reads our messages to Paypal.
Answer: They have become a money laundry scamming allowing company. Stay away at any cost.
Answer: USPS delievered it to the wrong address my pacakge was supposed to be delievered too 35710 Bay Morgan Ln, Fallbrook, CA 92028 when USPS delivered it to an address simillar to this one 12354 Alcatal Street (do not know the exact address since they did not email me, but you can call USPS and ask, and that is how I found out) Fallbrook, CA 92028, right city and zip code, far away address.
Answer: I'm thinking someone has to work there, if you send messages you will get a canned reply, I get the same response from 10 messages, basically "suck it up buttercup, you have just been played" but if you try to actually talk to a person good luck.
Answer: They dont. They wait for you to forget it. You get money back if you fill in a form after 180 days.
Answer: Do never send money to PayPal. That money is lost. This company has become a Giants money laundry company.
Answer: No there is not. PayPal protects scammers. Be sure to never use them.
Answer: It doesn't matter if you report them or not PayPal won't do nothing about it they continued to let the scammers operate on their site and do not protect consumers
Answer: SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE WITH THAT LOT, THEY CLAIM TO REFUND AMOUNTS PAID FOR ITEMS THAT DO NOT ARRIVE THATS "BS" I HAVE HAD 3 SUCH CLAIMS FROM 14 TRANSACTIONS AND HAVE NEVER GOT A REFUND DESPITE THEIR CLAIMS, THEY ARE CROOKS, FULL STOP, KEEP WELL CLEAR OF THEM.
