I tried to make a booking for an international flight. It took them more than 18 hours to get back to me with another flight itinerary which was longer and more expensive. I then had many back-and-forth messages until they agreed to give me my original booking at the original price. THEN they told me my bank declined the purchase- which is IMPOSSIBLE and a LIE. THEN they told me they needed to call my personal number for "verification purposes". Many lied and excuses all to cover up the fact that the incredibly cheap fare they were offering did not exist. Ovago may not be a scam but they are definitely not trustworthy.

Travel to Argentina

You canceled our flight with no notice and when we rebooked all of our seat upgrades were gone. Due to our flights being changed we had to recheck our bags in Lima which almost made us miss our connection.

Massive problems
November 15, 2024

I booked a flight on business class from YYZ to USM a few weeks ago.
I specifically spent almost 2 hrs getting that done, selecting the seats with your agent.

I looked on the Philippine Airlines site, which is down more times than not, so I can't even manage my booking on there. Then I go to your Help section (obviously a bot - Violet) and it can't confirm my seats either. What a mess! How then do I know that I have the seats I paid for and selected?

What happens when it's time to check in when I can't even access the Philippine Arlines site?

In all my years of flying (since 1976!) I've never had this much trouble, not even on economy tickets, not to talk of business class.

Your bot can't even provide the business lounges I can use in Toronto or Bangkok!

A few days after I purchased my ticket a sales agent called and tried to sell me additional services.

I shared my phone number thinking ovago would use it just to keep me updated about my flight- and was suspicious and angry to get the sales call instead

When my husband and I booked our trip to Egypt, we booked it in February for this month (November). My husband traveled ahead of myself and our three kids because he was scuba diving before we joined him for a family trip. They wouldn't let me book the four of us (myself and the three kids) on one reservation, so I had to book a reservation for my son and I and then for my other two children on another reservation. Over time, as the reservations kept getting changed due to flight schedule changes, I had to confirm those changes. Each time, I tried to assure that all four of us still had the same itinerary. I called Ovago's customer service several times, and each time they assured me that all four of us would be on the same flights. We arrived at the airport this morning, and our reservations were different. Because I was the only guardian traveling, and my reservation was earlier than my two kids on the separate reservation, they wouldn't let us fly. I had to call Lufthansa Airlines myself to reschedule and was on the phone with them for 2 hours. We had purchased a tour, and the kids and I will miss the first day (including the Giza pyramids and the Sphinx) due to this mixup. I've read some other bad reviews of similar things happening (they continue to change the itineraries until people cancel). I wouldn't recommend this company for booking flights.

Watch for extra fees

Really good value fares but be careful of fees and policies. Seat selections are not transferable to date changes. Support can be mixed, but eventually fix ticket issue. Just read the fine print.

In response, flight options, associated airline fees, and fare differences were shared with your registered email address. Please note that when processing an exchange, certain airline policies must be adhered to, including maintaining the same class of service or higher and the same routing. Airfares fluctuate for various reasons, including but not limited to seat availability, seasonality, and demand—factors that are beyond our or any travel agency’s control.

Additionally, we noticed that you purchased pre-assigned seats in the original booking and requested that they be transferred to the exchanged tickets. As per the terms and conditions, the seat assignments are non-refundable and non-transferable, except for a flight cancellation or change initiated by the validating carrier. As a gesture of goodwill, the seats were transferred and successfully assigned.

A Mixed Bag

I've used Ovago just one time and was a bit disappointed that I was not notified of changes to my itinerary. I would have been completely unaware if I had not been checking on the flights myself. To their credit though, Ovago reacted quickly to my inquiries and worked to correct the inconsistencies. But...the action that they indicated would happen within 24 hours did not happen within 48, and I had to follow-up with another inquiry. Again Customer Service's response was timely and this time the issue was resolved. Not sure whether I will use Ovago again though.
