Optumrx Reviews Summary

The company's reputation is significantly marred by pervasive customer dissatisfaction, primarily stemming from service delays, ineffective communication, and technical issues with their online systems. Customers frequently report frustrations with prescription management, including unfulfilled orders and lack of timely updates. While some customers acknowledge the efforts of individual representatives, the overall service experience is characterized as disorganized and unresponsive. This disconnect between customer needs and service delivery has led to a growing sentiment of frustration and distrust, prompting many to seek alternatives despite being tethered to this provider through employer mandates.

The call center was so loud, that my elderly mother could not hear the rep at all and repeatedly asked him to speak up. I stepped in, as I could not understand the rep as well and asked him to as the others in the room to lower their voices( there was laughter going on). He refused. I did contact customer service and filed a grievance. Very frustrating!

Absolutely Ridiculous
January 28, 2021

We have State Insurence and why the state has opted to use there service I'll never know. You have a State Job for 25 years you generally have good drug coverage. I live with many chronic diseases that I HAVE to take medication for, some of these medications I've taken for 20 years. But when this Company has taken over our drug prescription policy. I'm getting letter after stating they can not cover my very important meds. The ones they can cover are gonna cost me $516.00 a month for one prescription in itself. My quality of life has been stolen by this Company and it's the biggest disgrace I've ever faced in my life!
I'm so disappointed in whoever chose to use these people. I would NOT RECCOMEND THEM TO A SINGLE SOUL!

My wife has tried 6 different anti-anxiety medications many of which led to horrible situations. Finally we found something that worked and Optum won't approve a tear reduction so that we can afford the medication to make her better. They want her to take more different medications that aren't going to work and keep experimenting to save them a dime while risking her safety.

They had renewed my med before, but needed another week to renew it again. You can't depend on them to provide your meds.

Although I am satisfied with receiving prescriptions, the one major issue I have had with them is that it is not possible to change primary care physicians. For some, that will not be a problem but for others, it means that the process is for medications to go to the first physician you had when you signed up for Optum Rx. They will ALWAYS without fail, no matter what you tell them, contact that doctor even if you have not seen that doctor for years and have had a different doctor for years.

They will tell you over and over that their system does support changing doctors but it does not. When the old doctor rejects the prescription, you need to call Optum Rx and provide them with the "new" doctor information. If you have monthly prescriptions, this must be done monthly. It is incredibly inefficient and after speaking to more than a dozen reps, this is exactly how they operate. Truly bizarre and they really should be shut down for safety reasons.

I switched to Medicare Advantage UHC Walgreens as of 1/1/21 and their mail order pharmacy is OptumRX. After 19 days of dealing with stupidity I am going back to using Walmart or Walgreens unless the latter is affiliated with OptumRx. For a more extensive review by me see Yelp (Stephen C) also done today. STAY AWAY!

For years I could trust Optumrx to get my few medications on time and accurate-NO LONGER.
It took me 9 days and 10 or more phone calls. They ignored my doctor"s request to refill when I had only enough medication to last a few days until I did run out( my doctor had doubled up on
My medication to see if it would work better for my blood sugar) causing me to run out before the refill date. This was explained to one representative after another. All they did was put it on hold-day after day. Now I realize what a poor company they are-will look into changing my medicare company next year to get away from Optumrx.

Website login never works. It seems that yuo must change your password every time you want to log in. Yet they want you to use this useless website for all business. I plan in the future to use a local pharmacy for my needs. It will be worth the peace of mind for the few extra $.

Do not, I repeat! Do not ever give them your credit card number, they will charge your meds to your card without your permission. They call you that your med will be a lower price, you say O. K., charge it to my card, then they call you back with a MUCH higher price, you say no! They go ahead and put it on your card anyway. When you call them they lie and say they took it off, but they don't. I called my credit card co. And they took it back from them, now they are dunning me for $106.00! They'll NEVER get it!

Horrible
January 1, 2021

My insurance requires us to use optum rx for prescriptions, and the are totally useless! I had only one prescription ever, and they refused to fill it as the doctor wrote it. No explanation just no. I had to get a coupon in order to get what I needed. They are only interested in saving money period. If you use them eventually they will refuse you for something. My husband has to use them too and has so many problems with them. He's on the phone for hours to try and get things right. This last problem was the worst. Because of them he has been without his diabetes medication for over 2 weeks! They keep asking for the same thing from his doctor, the doctor sends it and they won't approve it. Then we start all over again! This med. Is expensive and we can't afford it without insurance. If you can avoid using them do it. If I could give them 0 stars I would!

Optium RX Are Clowns
December 29, 2020

Honestly they suck! I have never seen a provider that cannot do anything right. I need drops for my eyes for glaucoma and my doctor authorizes me to have 5 bottles for use.

Sometimes you use more and sometimes your eyebrows get into the way and blocks the medicine so you have to use more of it to take your medicine. I use one drop each eye every night before bed and when I told the representatives this she indicates that I am wasting it like it is a true science towards doing this?

I have dealt with this organization now 20 times over this issue and since things are mail ordered from the insurance policy we have with Blue Cross/Blue Shield in North Carolina these guys truly suck. I would not recommend these "Clowns" for anyone which is the reason why now I just opt out for prescriptions and use the various apps to save money on my prescriptions without their authorization.

Straight clowns!

I have had no complaints up to now, but really not happy with Optumrx right now. Received a letter today in mail that they will no longer cover my chemotherapy meds as of January 2021. The drug Revlimid, which I have been on, has me in remission right now from Multiple Myeloma. And yes, it is expensive. I certainly can not pay for it. So hoping my oncologist can find a replacement that will work just as well as the Revlimid that this insurance will cover. If not, guess I am just out of luck.

Optum RX NEVER AGAIN
December 23, 2020

Worst way ever to get your meds! Do NOT sign up with optum rx. You would regret it. I spent hours on the phone trying to find my orders and ended up canceling my enrollment. After interminable waits customer service people basically didn't care about my problems!

Just send this letter to my benefits admin: Sent: 12/20/2020 10:42 AM From: Self
Received a letter from Optum stating I have to schedule a telehealth visit to be able to continue to have access my insulin otherwise I have to pay the full price 1200$/month. Letter is send 12/09/2020 and the deadline for telehealth visit is 12/15/2020. That means I missed the window and will end up in the ER with incredibly high sugars. Can someone explain to me why do I have a prescription drug coverage? Do we really have a prescription drug coverage? From the very beginning Optum was nothing but trouble for me, left me with no medications several times. So right now I refuse to receive andy meds from them and willing to pay a couple of dollars extra to Walmart Pharmacy to manage my prescriptions which they do a great job so far. I have been on the phone with optum almost every month with problem and I AM DONE WITH THESE PEOPLE. I respectfully asking someone as to what is going on with optum, why do I have do discuss my health issues someone other than my doctor. How do they have a right to not cover my meds in the middle of the year while I am still paying their premiums. Attachment is the letter I received from them. Can I just eliminate/drop them off completely and seek my own coverage for prescription drugs?

Ordering drugs from Optum is a nightmare online. If you MUST use Optum call them and DO NOT let them put you on AUTO REFILL or you will get drugs shipped to you whether you want them or not! Horrible company. I am surprised they are not ranked 1001 out of 1000.

Just Plain Irresponsible
December 13, 2020

You can't place an order until a certain refill date.
Placed the order on that date - took them 3 days to "process" that order
Now it's a week past since I ordered my medicines - and I still don"t have them.
If they get here tomorrow, I will have gone 3 days without any meds thanks to the ineptness of this company
