So I got an OpenSky account to boost my credit, which it did. I put down $200 for the security deposit, made my payments on time. Well they boosted my credit limit to $400, I again, made my payments on time. I went to make a payment this last time, and my account was closed, they stole my security deposit (which was my money) I owed $173. I still down know why my account was closed, they don't know either. It was in good standing. Also it's a pain trying to get ahold of anyone to talk to, you have to google their customer service number to get ahold of anyone because the all suggests you mail them in a question. This card sucks. It did what it needed to I guess, but terrible credit card to have.

I closed my secured credit card with openskycc back in august 2021 and to date they have not sent me back my money. I called them sometime in june asking about it and they said i wasn't in the system anymore and will try to figure out how to solve the issue. I called them again today and no progress. This is a fraduatent company that is just trying to scam you. Don't trust them

This is the worst! They delay posting your payment then charge a ton of extra fees. You can only pay with your checking account but they dont post right away. I paid my account off then closed it and they reported I still owed them $150 which was charged in fees after I paid them and closed the account. Then they posted bad reports to the credit bureaus, refuse to take it off and repost it to my credit report monthly. Since them I have opened several credit cards which have helped build my credit way better. Dont walk... run away from these unhelpful crooks set up to ruin your credit.

I spent 2 hours attempting to get access to my account on-line. I spoke to 3 different customer service representatives and 1 supervisor. After being given access to discuss this account (my wife's) they refused to allow me access. We became so frustrated we just canceled the account and was then subjected to the employee reading a "script" that more or less threatened us if we canceled... that it would somehow damage our credit. Terrible customer service and lack of product knowledge. Stay away!

This is the worst company, first thing, they take forever to post a payment and you can't pay unless you have a bank account,. Custom services could care less about my frustration and I was charged a 25$ return check feeling didn't make sense at all. My advice, stay far away and find a different card, it will only hurt your credit even when you do the right thing. Shame on you opensky!

Scam! Horrible!

I ordered my card in march added my $200 and 3 months later still haven't received my card, never got anything saying I had a balance due for the annual fee then 2 months later got a piece of mail saying I'm charged late fees and remind you I still haven't got my card! I called open sky and they told me basically the only thing they can do is close my account take the money I put on the card pay off the fees and send me the left over balance and that would take up to 8 weeks no less than 4 weeks or I could pay the fees and they would send me another card. No help at all no understanding at all no nothing I do not recommend OpenSky credit cards!

Criminals

After a year of no account balance they charge a $38 annual fee (no problem, part of the agreement). They don't notify you of this charge so a month later they charge a $27 late fee and a $3 paper statement fee and THEN they notify you email. Bunch of crooked s%$theads...
The practices of this company ought to be illegal.

They took my money from my account in record time never sent my card and then said they will take 30 to 45 days to refund be. I call BS. Fraud. Fill your complaints with the BBB as well people.

I am looking to buy a house this year and like everyone else who got this card, my credit score was in the low 500's. I put $200.00 on the card to start and kept usage around 10-20% at the most. The most I had on this card was $40.00. Once I made a purchase I had to wait a few days to pay it off. I made sure the balance was 0 at the end of the month - no matter what. In addition, I had some negative reports on my credit history as well - which I challenged and had them removed. Some from length of time and others paid off. My credit score started to rise quickly. I then used experian boost (free service) which looks at my monthly subscriptions and bills that help my score. My score jumped 30+ points from that alone. I then received my first unsecured CC. $500 credit limit. Used it same way as open sky - no more than 20% usage ($100 max). Paid off right after it posts. I'm so use to paying for things on my debit card - I don't have the mindset to keep a balance. After about 3 months applied for another CC and got a $3000k credit limit. Waited another month and now I have another card with $1k. I rotate them and pay them off same as I did with my first that got me started. OpenSky increased my credit line to $500 with no additional deposit needed. The only negative thing I can say is that I would have like to see a free credit score attached to the app but all in all they help me get to a 738 from the low 500's in less than a year. Keep you usage below 20%, pay off the credit cards in full every month and you will be golden. I'm reading a lot of negative reviews based on overspending - which is not the companies fault.

Terrible trash

I am giving it a one after some thought. They say you can get credit increase, but you only can if you pay for it. You can only make 4 payments a month, making you carry a balance over into the next month by refusing your payment. They promise after 6 months and with a credit increase, which mine has, to give you your deposit back wrong. There is no customer service without mailing in your concern. The only reason I would recommend this card is bc without credit your screwed. But to increase your credit you must do the work. Be mindful of your credit debit ratio and make payments. I still have this account open only because it's my oldest card. $9 a month plus 75 a year. Get it and get out with this card! It's terrible.

I needed to close my account due to pandemic. I had $1000 of my own money securing the card... I closed my account they sent me a check that noboy wanted to cash... Then too make matters worse they put a negative remark on my credit report... They took the $246 out of my $1000 upon closing my account... They aren't in business to Help You... Run away from them...

Customer service is terrible. When you have to google their number since it is not on the app, you know they are not helpful. Took my payment out and the credit was not available for 2 weeks after my bank account had the money taken out.

They are quick to take your money and slower than snail snot at resolving account questions. You can never get through on the phone and when you send them a letter, their response is a canned response that a 2 year old must have written. I closed my account. I never had one cent worth of interest charged. They limit the # of payments you can make a month. They also do not report, but once a month and that is generally wrong. I even cut my card up and sent it back with my account closing request, and they took 2 weeks to close the account and sent a letter stating that there may be up to a 10 week delay on getting my secured deposit back. I would not recommend them to anyone.

Of course we know its a secured card. However my card was canceled by them with no explanation. Called for reasoning. After 30+ minutes I speak to someone with broken English. They claim I sent a letter requesting for a deposit to be refunded. I told I did not request this action but they insisted to the contrary. I said okay send me a copy of this letter for my records and they said they would. 7 days later I called back and 30+ minutes later I speak to someone who does not understand the words coming out of my mouth. I request to speak with someone who can actually understand me. Was told I would receive a call in about a hour from someone who could clear this up. DID NOT HAPPEN! Next day receive a check for my deposit back without the copy of the earlier stated letter! Called and after 2 hours of transferring I was told to destroy the check and everything was straightened out. Now next day received another letter stating there was no letter of requesting the deposit and they made a mistake! Another phone call, they apologize for the whole ordeal but did nothing. Have not used card and receive a statement for s balance of $200! Called again and they made a claim I cashed the check so to keep my account I would have pay the $200 balance. However, when I say I still have the check, did not destroy per the request, everything changed and all was restored. Tried to scam and it backfired on them. If not for the credit score hit I would cancel the card! A scam of s company! Beware.

First off, their customer service has a non-circumventing recording, so you can't make an option until it's done with the spiel. Next a "screening" person talks to you like you're getting info you need, but then tells you they're going to transfer you to the right place, so you can't even get to where you want to be in less than 8-10 minutes!
Scumbag liars in the disputes dept., refused to refund me $80 AFTER the merchant ADMITTED to them being wrong and would be ok with refunding me! Furthermore, the disputes morons told me the completely wrong information that wasn't even brought up with the transaction, and said I needed to straighten that out first.
Also, I was forced to fax over documents, because apparently there's no online option for submitting documents because this card is absolutely garbage.
Then, after calling for roughly a full week, these losers lied to me every time telling me I would get a call back from a supervisor, but never did.
These are some of the most useless, stupid, lazy imbeciles to exist, not just the employees, the ones who run this card.
I've made a complaint through the BBB, next stop will be the FCT, and then the AG's office. Unbelievable amount of stupidity with these people.

DON'T - Rip-off Artists!

Like others here, I opened an account over 2021 in GOOD STANDING. Payments ALWAYS on-time, no balance, no carryovers. Suddenly 2022/23 aliens have kidnapped them holding for ransom, because I underwent a lay-off but STILL managed to pay on my account. The Nov. Payment didn't credit due to a glitch... and they began tacking on late fees and recurring interest, which was BS. Calls to their CS relayed excuses that they 'couldn't excuse' glitches and other issues. The fees were my responsibility including the outrageous $400+ balance (I've NEVER gone over $250) I am DONE with them, and contacting the BBB

Im a new card owner. This was my first card and I am so dissatisfied. When setting up your account they let you put your account in but later on tell you that you can't use a card but have to use a routing number but my card was excepted when I first signed up? They charge extra to refund your check when it was their fault they did not tell you what so ever that you have to use a routing number. Customer service is horrible and rude.

Don't do it.

After repeated problems with delayed payment posting, poor customer service I closed my account and in a couple of months received my security deposit back. Months later they send me a refund check for $ 18 due to their bad math. Months after that they call me to say they mistakenly that they sent a second $ 18 check in error. They told me not to cash it and to send it back to them, I said I would but at that time I had never received a second check.

The second check never arrived so I forgot about it. Today I get an email saying my account s past due and to pay the balance immediately. I call customer service to explain that I never received a second check and to check their records to see that I have never cashed a second check. The customer service rep didn't budge and told me to pay the $37 now. So a 100 % late charge on a second check I didn't receive on an account that has been closed for a while now. I suspect the 1st check I did receive was in error and the second check was a lie to get me to pay back the original $ 18.

I will pay the $ 38 because they will ding my credit for this small amount. Very shady practices from this company and you should be wary of them.

I've had this card for one year and pay the entire balance every month. I just get the $35 annual fee charged to the account after payment due date but before statement end date. Dropped my credit score 5 points.

I have been with this company for over a year, and every time I have had an issue with late fees or fraud activity, this company has always shined through the storm. This is the type of company I can recommend to hard workers that would like to have their hard earned money taken care of with trust, honesty, and diligence. Thank you to everyone at this company! And I am just a regular middle class girl, no one paid me to write this, I have just had a string of bad events with professional companies and this company I felt deserved this review. Hope this helps the next average person!
