I was never taught about the proper use of credit and as I got older, I started to realize how important it is. For the first time ever, I'm at a 640 credit score. This card has helped so much. The payment process is a little sketchy but I've learned that paying from cash app is the fastest way to have my payments submitted. If you're having a hard time getting a credit card because of bad credit this is the card for you. Keep it under 30% and you'll see big changes

Don't waste your time!
August 14, 2023

I submitted an application to them July 12th 2023. They denied my application on July 14th because apparently I'm deceased. I STILL have not received the 200 dollars I put down for my security deposit. They say that it will be mailed 7-10 business days from the rejection yet I haven't received anything and it's been a month! Do not waste your time with this company all they want is your money and refuse to give it back. I truly hope this helps someone who is thinking about applying with them to fix your credit. It is not worth it. I'm far from deceased. Just an excuse to keep the money I gave them long enough to make a profit off of it. Find a different company. They originally say can't verify identity so I call in and that was there excuse for denying me is that I am deceased. Insane

Rip Off
August 9, 2023

Watch out! They will charge you $35 a year for a $200 credit card that requires you to send them $200. Totally a rip off. Do not get this card unless you absolutely must.

I got this card because I was just out of bankruptcy and needed a card to rebuild credit. After I got this, I discovered there are no fee alternatives.

I've had this card a few years and it helped me get my credit back up. Recently, my phone alerts went off like crazy. Someone was wracking up charges at an online shop. Called immediately and they shut the card down. I received a letter a few weeks ago that due to not reporting my card lost or stolen (?), they can't help me. Said to file a police report if I wanted to have them check again.

I'm shutting this card down once this mess is cleared. I'm upset. At least my credit was good enough to get a Discover card. I can get no-fee, no deposit, high amount CCs now and for that I'm grateful to OpenSky. Just BS they didn't cover me on a database breech.

It's been 28 days and still no sign of my 3k dollar deposit. I closed my account with a zero balance, hadn't used the card in months, and they still won't give me my money back. Filling complaints wherever I can.

Horrible
June 27, 2023

I used my only checking account that has overdraft protection which means the money still comes out regardless if i have it and the last time i tried paying it got returned so they disable my bank and then gave me no other option of paying so i had to close my account with a balance of $65.00 owed after taking my $250.00 deposit so then i check today because i was told that there will be additional payment options once i see my account is closed - lie there is not - but instead i saw now my total is $115.00 versus the 65 i owed yesterday and so i called to try to pay it and was told no i would need a new bank account - i do not recommend this credit company they also charge $5.00 per transaction made which i didnt notice till i looked closely at my posted transactions

Freaking ridiculous that after we make a payment our funds aren't reflected in our account for use for an additional 8 days! Money out of my account and now I'm out bad because they want to hold my money people have timely bills to pay and things to do that require credit cards and this flaw makes it very hard to move through life with them holding your funds for so long for no good reason! Very annoying and when you want to make an expedited payment by card they act dumb like they don't know what your talking about and flat out say they can't do that... When in their cardholder agreement they explain the expedited payment process making you have to end the call just to get someone to make the payment for you rude customer service wish I read the reviews first sh*tty card avoid at all cost unless you absolutely have no other options to build credit even then it will be frustrating

This card was good for helping me repair my credit, but it's definitely not the type of card to rely on for anything big such as risking getting stranded somewhere. Several times renting a car from Hertz, the hold that had been placed on the card was removed by Hertz immediately on return of the car. However, the refunded hold would literally just sit there as "pending" for another 2-3 weeks, and once completed it would take another whole week for OpenSky to actually return the credit to me. There was no excuse for this whatsoever, especially when it's a secured card. Customer service stinks, and there is no way to send them messages. You can call and sit on hold, or you can write them a letter. That's it. I will say they doubled my credit after proving I was responsible with the card, making frequent payments and keeping balance at zero as much as I could. I was not relying on the card for anything but my electric bill and to rent cars. Don't plan on relying on it for anything else, because they are super slow at letting old things drop off the account. Now that my credit is good, I don't even use this card anymore. Closing cards hurts your credit score, but that 30 dollar annual fee for nothing is still a bummer.

I called in to closed my account today 6/8/2023 because the customer is extremely worst than I thought, the fees and respond from mailing it took more than 60 days to respond a letter.

I was trying to rebuild my credit but my credit is getting more ugly and when I had a question than it took me forever to get the answer. I don't recommended to anyone trying to rebuild credit history from this company.

No good
May 23, 2023

I've been with them for years. Let's understand I'm using my own money. I've had them paid off. And they're still trying to hijack me For late fees! They have no compassion or understanding of anything that's happened with. Covid 19, loss of jobs. I do not recommend them. There are other avenues. For the past year. Is nothing but problems. Their customer service. Needs customer service skills. My balance was $6 they still said I had a late fee. I still had a hundred and ninety 4 dollars in credit. They're nuts Now they're saying I owe him ninety seven dollars and late fees.

Be aware, you may have to buy a Laptop or PC to access your account. On two of my Mobile Devices after FOUR YEARS I can not login. Nor can I from my mobile Web Browser. I was on the Phone with Their "Technicians" lol, and they couldn't tell me how to Navigate Open Skys landing page. Told me I have to do it myself and figure it out. Well, thankfully I understand Back and front End of websites. Good luck to those who Don't. Because their Techs don't know Either. I Hope Your Rating and perfect payment history don't get Affected by Incompetent Employees of Open Sky. GL everyone

I opened the account a month and I used it to purchase then made a payment for what I spent. After my payment of over $1k was posted my account got blocked so I called the customer service number and it was answered right away and I was transferred to Security and someone answered right away and told me that I need a verification letter from my bank to verify that I'm the owner of the account and I was provided with a fax number to send the letter. I called my bank and ask about verification letter and I was told the fastest way to get it is to go to any branch location so I did and have the letter and fax to them right away so they can unlock my card asap becasuse I'm working out of town and have a rental car that needs to extend for 2 days and with a blocked credit card so impossible to happen. After I sent them the letter I called them again to follow before 4pm and I was on hold for only over 2hours because I didn't continue to wait so today I called and I was told that they haven't received the letter I fax them yesterday because it will take 24-48 hours for them to receive it.unbelievable!.First time to hear that for a piece of paper have to wait that long! Im screwed.I wish I have read the reviews before I applied. I put over $2k deposit and plan to make it $5k! We'll see what will happen in 36 hours!

1st- The card took much longer to arrive than any other debit or credit card I've ever had. 2nd-I made my first payment of $400, half of my balance on 4/13 direct from my bank account yet they didn't credit my account until 4/20. If I can send/receive money to anyone in seconds, what's their excuse for not crediting my account? 3rd-I wanted to pay for something through Google Play of only 2.99 and they declined the transaction, despite having hundreds in available credit. 4th-No human customer service or very hard to reach. I'll be closing this account. I just got it to rent cars, but when you need to rent a car but you're still waiting for them to credit your account and your weekend plans get ruined, it's just not worth it. Use Capital One for secured cards, NOT Capital bank (the provider of Opensky cards.)

This credit card is actually refusing to let me make a payment by phone or on my app, I've been trying for the last month to make a payment and they keep refusing. They won't even let me use a secondary account through these options. However they will accept a mail in check payment from the same checking account that they are declining to accept on the app or phone, that is beyond the dumbest thing I've ever heard, this is why banks go out of business and we as taxpayers have to bail them out…absolute and utter morons in charge of these companies it's sad
