The overall reputation of OfferUp is marred by significant customer dissatisfaction, primarily stemming from poor customer service and account management issues. Users frequently report abrupt account deactivations without clear explanations, along with challenges in resolving disputes and obtaining refunds. Additionally, many customers express frustration with the app's glitches and the prevalence of fraudulent listings. While some users have had positive experiences with transactions, these are overshadowed by the negative sentiments surrounding the platform's reliability and support. The need for improved communication and user-friendly processes is evident to enhance overall customer experience.

Don't buy anything from these guys it's a total scam you will be ripped off of your money and there's nothing true of value to distinguish the amount of quality and integrity of life these days these people will rip you off and they're using sites like this to rip you off so don't buy anything from this site
Two scammers (or maybe it's the same person) reached out to me just days after I posted an item. Both of them sounded eager to make the purchase and wanted to send checks and schedule a mover to pick up. They promised that the movers would pick up after the check clears. They even offered straight up to pay for shipping/add more money to help secure the item. I knew this was too good to be true so I started doing some research on how these people could scam you using checks that could clear. Apparently, these people want you to believe that their check is real, so after you deposit it into your account thinking you've gotten the money, the money could get taken away if the bank later realizes there's something wrong with the check. However, you would have already shipped the item and paid for the movers.
So don't waste your time with people who will only pay via checks unless you can find a local branch and take cash out using the check. Needless to say, after i told these two scammers that I will only take a check from a bank with a local branch and have to get it cashed before we schedule the movers, they went crickets.
That is ALL you get on this site. I am not sure who these people are that plan on buying anything, but they apparently expect everything to be $1! Even after I posted an awesome queen log bed with canope, sealy mattress and box Spring for $250, one person still asked what the lowest is I would go. This idiot has no idea how much real wood log beds cost. I then checked how many items actually get sold and it turns out it's pathetic! Not worth anyone's time!
This app absolutely SUCKS! Today for the third time a buyer has agreed to an buy an item from me, negotiated a price and set up a meeting place and time only to back out at the last minute with yet another lame excuse. These wishy washy buyers suffer no repercussions whatsoever for doing this and all three times I had other offers that I turned down because I thought the item was already sold. Something has to change or I will never use this app again.
This site or app offers no way of posting items that you would like to sell unless you have an Android or IOS phone to install their app, and not everyone has one of those types of phones. I mean seriously why even build a website if you can't post items for sell on the website through your pc, it's just a big waste of time and I don't like having my time wasted. This is just my personal opinion but they could really improve there service if they offered a version for pc or even for windows phone, in conclusion if you must use this app use it at your own discretion as for me I'll just stick to Ebay or other sell and buy groups accordingly.
Honestly, you are totally wasting your time using this app/service. That's why there are so many negative reviews...
NOBODY PAYS,
NOBODY TURNS UP
Save yourself the energy and effort, use EBAY or give your stuff to charity
I agree and disagree with reviews here.
First of all, OfferUp, the company, is giving people/communities a common online place to sell stuff as an alternative to websites like Craigslist. Like CL, it's free and it's user friendly. However, with OfferUp, you're able to maneuver through the posting process quicker, the app/page design itself is not as antiquated and is aesthetically more appealing and it's "one and done"- you conduct the transaction from start to finish via the app. This isn't to say one is necessarily better than the other, it's your choice.
Also, like Craigslist, it is not meant to compete with Ebay, Etsy, etc. With places like the aforementioned, you pay to list, you pay to process the transaction online, and they get their cut. Because of this, they can afford to have staff to help sort out problem sellers and buyers, guarantee products and refunds, and be the intervening party so you don't have to deal with that end of it.
So, as far as what OfferUp, the business, offers as ITS product, I give it 5 stars.
Most of the complaints on here are for things I don't believe OfferUp is responsible for. No-show buyers or sellers? Block them. Lowballers? Block them. They don't respond? Block them. You don't like one word responses? Block them. These types, and much worse, are everywhere, not just on OfferUp.
Use OfferUp for its intended purpose: an online yard sale, cleaning out your closets, whatever. If you have a business to run, OfferUp is not the place for it.
Avoid the scammers, flakes, and low ballers that use this app. As opposed to other similar apps ive had 0 good experiences with this one. Seems like it draws in the wrong kind of energy.
I have tried selling stuff on this app multiple times and keep dealing with "flakes" saying they want to buy my item then nothing... or they say they are on there way and I give them my address and an hour later still no one. Or they message me after telling me what date and time they are coming only for them to give some lame excuse why they can't come. Just a bunch of flaky $#*! buyers on this app. Just gonna take my stuff to goodwill and donate it for a tax ride off. At least that way I get the amount I am wanting to sell it for rather then dealing with cheapskates and low balling buyers.
I HAVE MIXED FEELINGS ABOUT LET GO AND THIS APP "OFFER"UP EITHER APP I HAVE HAD GOOD AND BAD EXPERIENCES. BUT AFTER LAST NIGHT I WILL NO LONGER BE USING OFFER UP. I AGREE WITH THE OTHER REVIEWS HERE, IT'S HARD TO TRUST ANYONE WHO SELLS SOMETHING BECAUSE YOU MAY END UP DEAD OR INJURED. BUT I GET THE PEOPLE QUICK TO SELL SOMETHING AND MEET UP ANYTIME BECAUSE IT SEEMS TOO ANXIOUS FOR ME AND IT'S NOT SAFE TO DO THAT. SO I HOPE THIS APP GETS SHUT DOWN SOON BEFORE SOMEONE GETS HURT.
As a buyer, I'm always on time, follow through, and only ask for a deal on multiple items. As a seller, same complaints as others, people offer, don't show, don't respond, don't bother to check where I live. And the businesses take up all the space. I don't have time to deal with these flakes. EBay just seemed like such a hassle, but this site needs to ban these flakes as reported. They seem to ban others for no reason! I think people just have nothing better to do than mess with others. I have only met one good buyer! Disgusted.
When trying to communicate with a potential buyer or seller if you include your phone number a WARNING message pops up (offerup calls it a "safety tip") to wit: sharing contact information with strangers can be unsafe. We recommend keeping communications within the offerup messaging system. WTF? Offerup cannot track what people are doing if they speak or text on cell phones. ALSO: this allows dweebs to hide - you don't know who yer dealing with, rapist, robber, etc
I'm SHOCKED that some in the financial industry are giving offerup the thumbs up.
PERFECT SITE FOR LAME LONELY DWEEBS TO SUCK YOU INTO ENDLESS EMAILS AND OFFERUP SPYING ON YOU THRU FACEBOOK, TWITTER ETC
Why does my saved listings go back to the beginning when I unsave an item? I need it to stay in the same area where I was. Taking too long to clean. My problem is the update with the app sending me to the beginning time after time.
I have used the App for over a year. I haven't had any issues with OfferUp until this week where I've encountered an "almost robbed" situation. If I have not had a gun with me, the buyer would of took the iPhone 7 Plus I was selling and possibly my life along with it. I reported the user and messaged OfferUp about the incident, then OfferUp banned my account without any notice or even giving me a reason why they did so. They ignored my messages towards technical support thinking it was an issue with my iPhone since I was posting many items and none were being viewed publicly. No one was receiving my messages nor was I able to receive them. I have over twenty five-star reviews within the past year and not even one four-star! I am really disappointed with OfferUp and their way of dealing with their users. Instead of them worrying about the thieves robbing others or the Paypal scams, they block the the best rated users just to "not deal with" any situation. I find it very sad that I even wasted my time writing this review or reporting thieves on that worthless app!
Terrible terrible... people do not show and asks for stuff all day. Its almost like a scam or a game to these people terrible. Worse then caigslist
I've had multiple items listed on OfferUp for several months now and not one of them has sold. As mentioned by several of the other reviewers, this is a site for low-ballers and (possibly?) bots. Every single offer I have received has been insultingly low (e.g. I have a brand new item that retails for $100, listed at a very reasonable $50, and not one offer has been above $30). And the few offers that I have accepted (simply because I wanted to get the item out of my house and no longer cared about price) have never actually followed through. One woman went so far as to get arsey with me when I wouldn't drive to the other side of the city to drop the item off (when it is CLEARLY stated in each of my listings that items are pick up only, from my neighborhood).
And as mentioned by other reviewers, people using this site seem unable to communicate in complete sentences. Almost every message or offer I have received has been either a single word or nearly unintelligible. Don't worry, I've been screen-shotting my experiences and will soon be starting a blog full of these gems!
Have been buying and selling online and via local venues for years [with significant success BTW]! Have given the OfferUp app a year+ worth of trial and testing [to be fair] and have found that, as a buying/selling community, it leans really heavily to the low-ball buyers and junk sellers. Most offers come in the form of one-word questions like "available?" or "lowest?" and even "Trade?"
Additionally, there seems to be a lack of interest by the buyers in actually READING the seller ad or sellers POSTING anything other a picture and price with minimal description of the items. More often than not a buyer will not notice the distance between themselves and the seller and then expect the seller to come to the buyer on a seriously low-ball offer. When an offer is "accepted" then the buyer flakes because they finally figure out distance. The app actually TELLS you location but people do not pay attention until late in the game. It's ridiculous.
It's a "short-cut" transaction community. Don't expect too much of this app or the people that use it.
What an effin joke! Seriously began to feel offended on an emotional level. Maybe I'm too sensitive? But seriously I felt like I was being screwed with over and over and over! I had about 20 ppl inquire about an item Items i posted for sale, asking questions or offering to pay the price I listed, I was thrilled. I would take the time to answer or negotiate if I felt it was neccesary. Every single time I responded, or In some cases got close to sealing the deal id get no reply. I would reach out asking if they were still interested, and nothing. I thought maybe the potential buyer was just rude but every time? Doubtful. I wasted so much time and got my hopes up for the last time today being I haven't sold a single item since I signed up over a month ago! So pissed
I have never taken the time to write a negative review until now. I hope this site gets shut down!
Yes please do not use this service the people on there like never show up and screw you out of your money it needs shut down.
Answer: No limit to how many items you can post. To delete the post. Just click on offers. Them there will be a mark as sold button, edit button, then next to that is a button with 3 dots. Click that. Then click archive. Done. No affiliation
