OfferUp Reviews Summary

The overall reputation of OfferUp is marred by significant customer dissatisfaction, primarily stemming from poor customer service and account management issues. Users frequently report abrupt account deactivations without clear explanations, along with challenges in resolving disputes and obtaining refunds. Additionally, many customers express frustration with the app's glitches and the prevalence of fraudulent listings. While some users have had positive experiences with transactions, these are overshadowed by the negative sentiments surrounding the platform's reliability and support. The need for improved communication and user-friendly processes is evident to enhance overall customer experience.

If you look at the reviews it's 1.2 Stars I think it should be more like zero Stars and it's not the people using the site ultimately OfferUp should have a rating system that includes negative feedback just like eBay and other websites. Basically offer up is enabling these people to do whatever they want without any repercussions... the reason I am so irritated is that I personally wasted 2 hours driving somewhere and the people assured me that meet up would be no problem they never answered their messages and there is no accountability to hold them responsible for wasting my time my gas wear and tear on my car and just because of the fact they're so arrogant and inconsiderate. I have wasted enough time and learn my lesson that these fools don't deserve my business and I will go elsewhere and this is a warning to everyone else that is tolerating this nonsense don't kid yourself it will happen to you and until OfferUp proactively monitors and includes negative feedback this nonsense will continue... I can only hope that enough people read this and leave OfferUp and give their business to someone else like eBay or Amazon that deserves it and that once Integrity in their website. I urge a boycott of OfferUp to give them negative publicity and force them to act..

They removed my account without any reason so I contacted customer service to ask about the problem. After a few days, I just got the email said I violated the policies with no explanation/information. After that, they ignored my email asking about which violation was. Sucks customer service, yes because they have a lot of users so they didn't care about the customers anymore.

I was lied to, saying weekend particularly Sunday was not counted, then when it arrived the buyer claimed it was late, and was thus forth exempt from paying for the item. I was ripped off!

I have been scammed several times using offerup.
Once I saw a carbon fiber tripod which was worth around $300 selling for $50. So I contacted the guy and arranged to drive 80 miles in order to meet him. When I was about 5 mins away from meeting him I checked the listing again and he had changed the price to $150! Once we met I said the price was agreed at $50 but he said his girlfriend told him he was giving it away and it was worth way more so he wasn't willing to sell it for less than $150. He knew at this point I had driven 1.5 hours to meet him and I was invested in time and gas so I was forced to agree to the $150. I felt he had used a scam to get me there and then bait and switch.
Another time I bought a brand new never used Nikon brand camera battery for my professional camera that sold for $140 + tax retail. This lady said she had a never used one brand new with packaging for $35. She said she sold the camera that she bought it for so she couldn't test the batter but I figured it was worth the gamble so I went. I again drove around 1.5 hours to meet her and buy the battery with cash for the stated price. Upon returning home and trying the battery out it turned out to be dead and wouldn't charge. It looked brand new but had been sitting dormant for too many years and became unusable. I messaged the lady and told her the battery was no good but she didn't respond to the three texts I sent her and I wasn't about to spend $25 in gas and 3 hours of my time to go get a $35 refund.
It seems eBay is more trustworthy because you can always open a case if the seller doesn't take the item back if it is dead on arrival. And since you pay with PayPal you will automatically get a refund. This is not the case when you meet someone face to face and pay cash. I have learned my lesson.

Piece of $#*!!
August 14, 2023

This is the worst app ever. Don't sign up or sell in Offerup. You will be scammed. Jealous $#*!s will flag your posting and Offerup, the piece of shut they are, will not check validity and just remove your item.

Promote Plus Scam
August 9, 2023

Be very careful when you use this app. I was billed 2 months for a Promote Plus subscription that I never asked for. 19.99 per month. They told me how to cancel it after they said they wouldn't reimburse me. They also don't have a customer service number so you can actually speak to a live person.

You register your credit card with offer-up to use for payment. After you confirm a purchase everyone ask for zelle, venmo or any other unprotected payment.

Their claim was that I went against community guidelines— but I've done nothing. I sold a checkered bag that was not a knockoff— but just a bag with checkered print. There was no infringing on copyrights no logos nothing. They stood by their decision and said I would not be allowed to come back.

I used offer up successfully for many years. I just recently marked all items sold - haven't had any sales in 18 months. Previous years had unlimited sales - all my items are quality. TOO MANY commercial dealers on it now - all ads. Shame that developers let it go to pot.

I don't have a ton of items that I sell, but of the eight or nine I do have currently, I've gotten one, ONE message in the past 6 months. I tried their promotion option for three days which they claim will sell your item "2 Times As Fast" as without it (then walk back into that claim in the fine print). I saw no discernible change in engagement, and actually the first two of the three days, my "natural" engagement exceeded the number of hits generated by the promotion. A promotion I never saw mind you. I looked myself, I asked my friends to check and nothing.

And whatever you do, do not engage in that data mining bull$#*! disguised as a job board, I made that mistake and the constant spam started almost immediately. Sending me job claiming to be from the state of New Jersey (while clarifying in the fine print that they are in no way affiliated with the state of New Jersey, duh, the non.gov domain gave that away immediately). It took me a solid few days of getting spammed to stop it. I'm still getting trickles here and there but not like I did at first.

Stay away, this used to be a great app but whoever the greedy $#*! is that took it over is running it into the ground.

Terrible
July 28, 2023

With every OfferUp update the app gets worse! Always new bugs and glitches (i.e. The recent 'permanent 1 message notification that wouldn't go away-now unable to scroll through your listings after posting unless you close and reopen app again). Constant issues with every 'new' update (which seems to be every week)! Why can't the developers get it right? App used to be much better-now is so slow too! Plus the addition of ads and that stupid promote plus pay option step they forced into the posting process is ridiculous…no use to email support-they are non existent as well. Hope they start reading reviews and get their act together soon!

The app is full of deceptive sellers. You can't judge the true condition of an item until you receive it. By then, it's usually too late.

With the exception of 1 offer, everyone that contacted me was a scammer. I don't recommend this site to sell your items. Watch out for the fake cashier check.

Offer up is a joke I rather use marketplace. They cancelled my site because I wanted to offer free food and money to local charities and people in need. Sad they worry more about filling their pockets than to help needy.

They make the same thing as they're sellers, and they don't cover all the shipping fees btw, I would have been more happier using someone else like eBay.this was a waste of time. They don't even have a customer service number smh
