The overall reputation of OfferUp is marred by significant customer dissatisfaction, primarily stemming from poor customer service and account management issues. Users frequently report abrupt account deactivations without clear explanations, along with challenges in resolving disputes and obtaining refunds. Additionally, many customers express frustration with the app's glitches and the prevalence of fraudulent listings. While some users have had positive experiences with transactions, these are overshadowed by the negative sentiments surrounding the platform's reliability and support. The need for improved communication and user-friendly processes is evident to enhance overall customer experience.

I've been on OfferUp (and LetGo before that) for some time now, and have successfully sold quite a few items to apparently satisfied buyers. I really enjoyed it and I had a bunch of 5-star reviews. About a year ago, OfferUp removed my listing for a shirt, citing that illegal items or items that encourage illegal activity aren't allowed. I totally understand their need to attempt to minimize illegal activity on their site. I figured I had inadvertently used some word or phrase that triggered some algorithm, so I inquired on their customer support (and I use that term generously) page. All I got was a scripted and canned response that said the same thing. The response said for more information, I could click on a link to, get this, the Consumer Product Safety Commission web site. Turns out the CPSC had no clue what was dangerous or illegal about my ad for a man's shirt. I emailed three times, asking what I had done wrong so that I wouldn't repeat my mistake, but each question resulted in the identical canned email response. I reposted the item where it remained unchallenged. Then, just a few weeks ago I listed a car for sale. Again, totally unknowingly I apparently said something egregious, and this time OfferUp deleted my entire account (along with about 30 items listed for sale) and told me I could not rejoin. Once again I pleaded for any specific information as to what was violative about my post, but just as before, all I got was the same canned email that told me nothing. To add insult to injury, I kept receiving emails ad nauseum from OfferUp entreating me to shop and purchase from their site (which, of course, I'm not allowed to do since they kicked me off). I would think most users would be grateful for guidance when they've posted an item that the software has flagged as dubious. I would have gladly corrected whatever apparently horrible mistake I made if I could've only gotten someone to tell me what it was. This makes no sense to me; I can't figure out why they wouldn't want to educate their users. There is no way I would've purposely posted anything "...illegal or that encourages illegal activity."
Very disappointed with the customer service. I have had some issues with my account. I tried to cancel an offer and it's pending review. I wrote multiple emails trying to resolve the issue. But nothing seems to change!
I was owed several payments for properties being sold. My balance kept getting lower and lower until down to zero. I photoed all emails and the chain of events that took place. Since there is no real service after repeated attempts. I contacted the better business bureau and the inspectors general's office to retrieve my funds. Waiting game no. I'm glad I saved the evidence and sent to both complaint depts. Not a trusted site. Don't sell valuables here. They state also no counterfeit items but yet it has many. I think this is just a one or two man show and not a real thriving app to sell. And lots of scamming.
Don't use the App. It protects thieves and scammers by not allowing their negative reviews or negative comments be seen by other users.
So what's the point in using OfferUp if they don't share the negative reviews or comments to help buyers know when you have a scammer or thief using the App?
I wrote a negative review of this thief who goes by Lionel. He is a scammer. You can see there are NO negative comments on his profile which I left.
I've been trying to join Offerup for months. Initially, I wanted to buy a stove but could not join since they said my phone number which I use every day and have had for about 20 years isn't a phone number. My handyman is a member, so he got it for me. Still wanted to join and tried numerous times and was always told my phone doesn't exist. Finally told them I'd be writing a bad review and they said they would check further. Now they say my phone is a VoIP. Just in case, I called Consumer Cellular to make sure they don't do something strange. They confirmed that it is NOT a VoIP. So here is one more review to add to the 4,181 others on this review site to point out how bad the company is. Don't waste your time with them.
I was a loyal seller with a five star rating for several years! I was selling a firestick, like multiple sellers on the platform, as was told I didn't follow the rules and my account was disabled. I followed up with several pictures showing other sellers selling the same item and received the same rote response. Meaning know one looked at my evidence and no one cared. I recently tried to reach out again and have been ignored!
I did have a positive experience as a seller and I took pride in what I sold, packaged and followed up. Offerup did not have my back! Be ware should you EVER need customer support. You are better off on Facebook Marketplace!
After being scammed on offer up and offer up doing nothing to keep from scammers from using it. I am genuinely convinced the scammers created Offer Up just to scam people. I report about 5 postings a day and the post never goes down. It's clearly a scam, so if something is brand new $750 including tax and used prices are roughly 500-550 via marketplace and eBay, and offer up has it for 290-350, it's too good to be true and definitely a scam. Don't fall for the "I have to go into work early so I can just ship it, take a picture of the confirmation receipt. And then buyer send the money after I ship because "I trust you". Giving fake obvious shipping receipts. Something that weights 40 lbs, should cost at least $75-100, it only cost $25 for shipping red flag. They didn't want to meet, red flag. They post in a large city, but live 200 miles away lol comn blatant scams and OfferUp does nothing about it. Don't use it.
I wanred to buy a phone. I made full price offer on a phone seller advertised would be delivered upon pmt. Seller sisappeared. Offer up- was mot able to do anything for me. Tremendous waste of time and energy. I am deleting this app permanently. Ebay and nextdoor apps have been good to find items.
OfferUp management is about as pathetic as their representatives. When you have an issue with a Buyer/Seller and use the report to OfferUp about the issue, there's no confirmation of such report and Most Important, absolutely no action taken. Meaning the company supports illicit and deceptive action committed by their members.
BEWARE OF THE USERS BEING INTERACTED WITH AS THERE WILL NOT BE ANY SUPPORT.
IN A NUTSHELL, THIS HAS FOR YEARS AND STILL TOO DATE IS A WORTHLESS SITE AND TO BE VERY LEARY OF.
It was nice looking at different item locals had to sell HOWEVER your sights are bombarded with furniture companies show the same dam item 100 of times it's annoying you have to make that stop or keep it under control I don't want to post or shop on offer up beacuse of this issue GET IT FIXED if a customer wants there crap they need to see it once not a 100 times. This is the biz all over fase book about your sight … there going to ruin which once was a nice way to shop
Hey people from sitejabber. Com... Pretty slick how the very first box when trying to leave a review of a company takes to that companies sales page. So if someone isn't paying attention they are just rabbit joking into buying more crap. If you were a legit review page you wouldn't bring tricking into going on to ANY sales pages. Dam don't you want to have any credibility. I'm off to go write a few reviews if you now. Your funny not.
How sad, this company has 0 support. Twitter is incomplete and the email support is just horrible. I am happy I don't have to deal with this company anymore. They also don't answer bbb complaints, might be at their last straw.
Incredibly lame that their developers can't even get the arrows for navigating pictures on a posting correct. The arrow on the left points to the right, and the arrow on the right points to the left. $#*! backwards! I have never seen another website that screwed up something so simple. OfferUp is the worst of the worst. A complete joke and embarrasment.
I tried 7 times to get my password reset, but as of this review, no luck. I gave of with them and will use other services.
I have been using OfferUp since it became a thing years ago. I always enjoyed it. Selling/buying was typically easy and I'd find enjoyment just browsing to see if anything I liked would come up. Now, can't even filter what I'm exactly looking for, every other post is a car or furniture. I'm looking for a mirror goddamn. It's become annoying, inconvenient, and it went from being an easy second hand selling platform to advertised stores near me with products I don't even care to look for. Gladly to say, I've deleted the app and see you never again! Facebook wins again
Wife was trying to join Offerup and didn't realize she clicked on the DECEPTIVE ad titled "START" which brought her to a different website. She was immediately asked to enter Credit card no. (to verify her identity) to continue. It said her card was declined and so she thought she would try her other card. Luckily I walked in the room and found out what was happening but was to late. All of a sudden she received fraud alerts for both cards on her phone and after talking to both card companies found that Offerup is allowing SCAMMERS to put Ad's on their website to try and steal almost a $100 Dollars from her Credit Card without her even approving the transaction to be finalized.
I had her close completely out to her home screen after she entered her second CC # and her cc still had a transaction show up. She didn't even click on anything else. Luckily all transactions were declined by cc company's.
It is my opinion that Offerup has now aligned itself with fraudulent scamming websites and puts their deceptive links to those sites on their own site. OFFERUP, Shame on you!
After 5 days of no shipping I reached out to find that the seller listed an item they didn't actually have. OfferUp refused to return my money despite the seller cancelling the transaction. I'm also unable to leave a review for the seller despite them listing unavailable items and tying up my money.
I issued a credit card chargeback. Don't ever pay for anything online through OfferUp.
Ever since offerup bought the other application, they suck really bad! I put 12 products on there and literally after six months all of my products only received anywhere from 2 to 20 views….IN 6 MONTHS, WTF!
Received goods damaged in shipping. OfferUp said I needed to return by January 6. I shipped on January 6 and have the USPS receipt to prove it. On January 6, OfferUp denied my refund, saying I missed the deadline and had zero interest in proof otherwise. Their customer service are the same overseas scammers who phone you all day long. They want me to provide my confidential information to TruYou to remain on site. Why? They've already proved they are inept or thieves. Plus, they already have my financial information. So I cancelled my credit card, I got my refund through a VISA dispute and will never to business on OfferUp again.
Most people make an offer and never show, those who show cheat you short change you cheapoooos. Use this site if you wish to waist your time.!
Answer: No limit to how many items you can post. To delete the post. Just click on offers. Them there will be a mark as sold button, edit button, then next to that is a button with 3 dots. Click that. Then click archive. Done. No affiliation
