Terrible customer service. Had a table delivered which was damaged. Sent someone out who said it couldnt be fixed. They offered to refund us £40 or give us a new table top. Went for the new top. Took weeks to get delivered. Got replacement top last week and due to the table being large and very heavy, we cant actually remove the old top to fit the new one. Its impossible to flip back over! So its in a huge box blocking up an area of my lounge. Customer services dont care. One lady told me that in some circumstances they can fit items and would find out if they could help. Not heard back from her since. After my delivery being messed up, lack of communication, a damaged table and now a top which I cant replace - I can safely say I will never order or recommend Oak Furniture land to anyone!

Terrible furniture and terrible customer service. First dresser i ordered half the order was missing as they delivered the top part but not the bottom piece. As a good will they gave me a lamp but on delivery it was damaged and i had a complete nightmare trying to get that replaced. When i finally received the rest of the dresser it was damaged and it had a screw that had been screwed in underneath but they had actually come straight through the unit, which resulted in slit finger and 3 stitches as the screw was inside the unit and was discovered upon cleaning the unit. I again had a nightmare trying to get through to customer services to get the unit replaced. They don't respond to emails, so don't waste your time emailing them. The whole experience of purchasing furniture from them was very unpleasant and so far i have purchased both a dresser and a seperate sideboard and all the pierces have some form of damage to them. I can honestly say that i will never purchase another item from them as the quality of the furniture i received was terrible and their customer service was worse than the quality of their furniture. All i received from them for all the stress they caused and time off work was a sorry, so i'm now in the process of taking legal advice due to my injury. All i can say is there lucky it was me who injured myself and not one of my children because how on earth does a unit that has a sharp screw sticking out of it pass quality control and end up with the end user... disgraceful. After reading several other negative reviews it seems that the pattern is the same... damaged furniture, damaged replacement furniture, zero response to emails, terrible customer service... karma will be when this store goes into administration!

Poor customer service
February 20, 2018

In January I purchased some new bedroom furniture from Oakfurnitureland in Orpington, spending nearly £3,000. On numerous occasions I told the salesman that my stairs and landing were 'tight'. He assured me that there would be no problem as their delivery people are very experienced. He told me that he had bought Oakfurnitureland wardrobes and the delivery people had negotiated his very narrow staircase with ease. This morning my furniture was delivered and, low and behold, my two wardrobes were too big to go upstairs. Not only that but, to add insult to injury, I was then told by 'customer services', and I use the term loosely as there was none, that it would cost £400 to take them back! It seems to me that Ofl are in a win win situation, they take your money, make promises they can't keep and then try to charge you exorbitant amounts to rectify what was, in fact, their mistake. I now have two wardrobes sitting in my hallway as I refused to be blackmailed into paying for them to be taken back. Any takers...? I will never buy anything from these people again and I will be telling anyone who will listen not to either.

Poor Quality of product
February 10, 2018

We purchased 2 Finley electric recliner 2 seater sette's at £799 each and a Finley
Electric recliner at £599. We have had them now about three years and the chair the stuffing has all sank and also worn under the chair and the stuffing is dropping out. It is so uncomftable to sit on. One of the sette's is getting the same way my wife alternates her seating each week from on end to the other. The leather still looks ok.
The second sette has very little use. Very poor for the price we paid.

Finley leather sofa
February 2, 2018

Poor quality leather sofa's; after just 5 months careful use and despite using their leather care products, a hole has appeared in the leather, which looks very thin and of poor quality in this area. I wish I had purchased a cheaper sofa from elsewhere.
£1000 for a sofa of this bad quality is a disgrace.

Not once was it mentioned by Oak Furniture Land sales staff that if the sofa we selected wouldn't fit through the door of our home we would be paying 25% of the price of the sofa to return it. Not a word was said on this topic during our time in the show room or during the sale. Their staff should explain this with the customer before an order is placed both verbally and staff should highlight this in the contract before a sale is agreed. I highlight to you that our experience was not a word was said to us on this when we ordered our sofa. If we had been told we would not have placed the order. You need to know this as it can be hundreds of £ to return items.
Not once was it mentioned to us by their sales staff to measure our doorways and the sofa to make sure it would fit through the door. If it had we would have taken care to take the measurements of our doorway and the sofa we wanted.
My husband and I feel really ripped off as there was zero customer care to ensure the product was suitable for our home. No advice given on size and how it may struggle to fit through a standard doorway. No advice given on how to ensure the right sofa was selected. No advice on measuring. And zero transparency on high costs of returns.
Once Oak Furniture Land knew the sofa was not a good fit for us no alternative solutions other than leaving it in our garage or sending it back at a huge cost are offered.

Originally purchased some sofas back in 2016 where the Oak Furniture Land salesman was happy to sell us an extended 5 year warranty which we were told would cover everything including manufacturer defects for 5 whole years - perfect!

Unfortunately, lo and behold when we needed to use the warranty due to a defect we are forwarded to a pretty poor outfit named "HFR Claims" (also known as FurnitureGard, and a few other names, they seem to change names to avoid bad reviews!) - after lots of faff where we were told they just did accidental damage repairs and cleaning, not warranty work we got back in touch with Oak Furniture Land to discuss our distaste in being mis-sold this warranty, they didn't care, they have our money so we can do one apparently... terrible waste of everyone's time and money.

Terrible customer service when it comes to returning items. Oak furniture land charged nearly £300 to return 2 items and 2 weeks later have still not received a refund for the furniture. They have yet to reply to any of my emails, seems the company is good when deliveries go to plan, poor service when items are returned. Such a shame as their furniture is good quality, we have spent a lot of money in store over the last few years- will not return to store again

I purchased a TV cabinet that was delivered several days after the originally arranged date in a box that was damp with mildew around the bottom. Having unpacked the cabinet I found a dark knot that was not smooth with the surface of the surrounding wood immediately obvious on the on it's front lower panel. It took approx twenty five minutes of being passed from one extension to another before speaking to a member of staff who wanted photos sent in for them to examine. I received a text a day I later asking me to phone there service number. After another thirty minutes of waiting on the phone I was told that the defect was not in their opinion sufficient to warrant a replacement. I also spoke to a supervisor who also refused to provide any further assistance. It is clear that if you have any complaint regarding their product you are wasting your time trying to get a replacement or any kind of satisfaction. My advice is, don't buy from this company, they have no interest in customer satisfaction at all.

Low Quality Product
December 1, 2017

I bought a bed with matres with 5 years comprehensive protection on both parts. After almost one year, the matres is spitted from the middle. I rang the office and arranged for repair. A technician came and checked the matres and said you damaged it and it is not covered by warranty.
I told them, Bed is a place to rest and there is enough space to play football, how could it be damaged.
I asked the office about the meaning of "Comprehensive protection".
I want to say, When you go to buy something, They explain a lot and show you heaven but if something happen, they leave you in a hell.
Do not believe these people (Oak Furniture land).
I have to pay 5 years the cost in instalment and practically I can not use the bed.
On my protection is written:
"UPHOLSTERY MATTRESS PROTECTOR STAINS, ACCIDENTAL DAMAGE & STRUCTURE"
It is really unfair to a customer to pay for 5 years for "according to the seller the best quality matres" but you find out they sold you a low quality product.

DISGRACE
November 30, 2017

Having ordered 3 items, sideboard, book case and a dresser totalling £1,400.00 from the Rivermead design. Items turned up after un-packing the items we realised the dresser had a split in 2 of the legs on one side about 12 inches long, also the door on the left hand side was hanging off and badly damaged. This was sent back and a replacement was ordered. Having inspected the replacement we realised there was a nasty, almost black piece of wood spliced into the leg and it curves off at the bottom (wish i could show the picture) having spoken to customer servics on at least 3 occassions i was told "what do you expect from
Furniture at this price" i was then told " if you want it perfect it would be bespoke" I couldn't believe what i was hearing. They will NOT replace the item. I am now going to trading standards to see where i stand legally. AVOID THIS SHAMBLES OF A COMPANY, SEARCH ELSEWHERE, I WILL BE FOR MY BEDROOM FURNITURE.

I made 2 purchases totalling nearly £1500.
The first purchase included a chest of drawers costing £348. After a while I noticed the drawer handles were not level. I rang them but got no joy and ended up altering the handles myself.
My second purchase included a small table costing £99. 98. 2 weeks ago I noticed that the top of the table had split across the full length, the insurance company did a repair that was just acceptable but after only 5 days the split is back. I contacted Oak Furniture Land and they just don't want to know.

Be very wary before buying off them as their aftersales service is RUBBISH!

Avoid at all costs!
November 23, 2017

Bought two sofas one of which has developed same manufacturing fault twice already but because second time is out of 12 month warranty they dont want anything to do with it despite our statutory rights to a refund or replacement and just referred us to the extended warranty which they persuaded us to purchase. This is complete waste of time and money as they are only prepared to do a quick fix which is going to last a few months before needing repair again. The warranty company are not interested at all in customer service and neither is OFL once they have your money. Needless to say Trading Standards are now on the case.

Spent a lot of money, bought 3 piece suite, foot stool, table, 6 chairs, console table £7k +, so would expect decent service? What we got was:
Delivery of suite in pieces, just left in middle of room, boxes everywhere, had to put suite together, console table secondhand/shop soiled, sent photos, arranged for collection -nightmare, they kept ringing to pick it up even after it had gone, failed to refund for weeks, then told me table would not be in for Christmas! Cancelled table & chairs and went elsewhere. Still ringing to discuss issues even though we have told them to go away, no more conversations, had to block number in the end.
Never never ever going into the store again, avoid at all costs.

Never buy from them
November 20, 2017

I had a very bad experience. Suggest you not to buy from them. We have decided not to buy from them in our whole life and before death we will tell our next generation too. Don't visit their shop they are worst, specially(Orpington) branch. They forced me to buy quickly and then they were not answering my query. So many issues with delivery, confusions.

My table looks nothing like the one I ordered. I have complained and sent photos. Yet all I get told is its expansion gaps. Completely butted up on one side can slot a pound coin in on other yet I am told this is normal. Rude and patronising customer service staff. Won't ever spend another penny in their shop. Absolute garbage!

Ordered a 2 and 3 door wardrobe online after viewing the furniture instore. Advised instore that each wardrobe came in sections and could be assembled easily. Owners manual confirms that all wardrobes come in at least 2 sections.
Delivery men turn up and attempt to carry up the 2 door wardrobe still in all its packaging. Due to the weight of the wardrobe and the lack of ability (both physical and mental) the delivery men were unable to lift the wardrobe to the required height to reach the top stairs.
Delivery men then offered to leave the wardrobe at the bottom of the stairs for us to move ourselves! No attempt to unpack the wardrobe to see if it was possible to move in sections.
Spoke with Customer Services who stated that it was our fault that the men could not lift the wardrobe into position. Extremely unhelpful and no attempt to accept any responsibility.
Escalated to Complaints and still no resolution.
Result is we have now been told that we will be charged a return fee of £250 for the 2 wardrobes and 2 bedside cabinets.
PLEASE BE AWARE THAT EVEN IF THERE ARE NO ISSUES WITH ACCESS AND YOU HAVE CHECKED THE PRE DELIVERY INSTRUCTIONS, IF THE DELIVERY MEN CANNOT PHYSICALLY LIFT THE HEAVY BOXED FURNITURE THEN YOU WILL EITHER HAVE TO MOVE IT YOURSELF OR PAY THE OUTRAGEOUS RETURN FEES!
