Bunch of idiots
November 27, 2018

We ordered a large wardrobe and matching chest of drawers from the Poole shop in Dorset but when the wardrobe arrived it wouldn't fit up the stairs. Fair enough - that was our mistake - but they then charged £125 to take it away again. The chest of drawers did fit up the stairs but when we unwrapped it, it turned out to be a sideboard. We then spent virtually two days trying to speak to customer services and being stuck in a never ending queue on the phone. Eventually they replaced it with the chest of drawers, but we had to wrap the original sideboard up in cardboard just as it came before they would take it. What a bunch of idiots. Avoid!

DO NOT USE
November 25, 2018

Absolutely terrible. I won't be using this company again. I was persuaded to buy furniture protection insurance from them by a salesman (I never buy insurance as it is a waste of time) to protect my furniture from accidents, I've had an accident with it now and when I check the online documents I find out that it isn't covered. I was told by the salesman that accidents created by children would be covered and I check now and it turns out it isn't. I contact oak furniture land and after a month of waiting I am told that they can't help me with this matter, I don't understand how they can't help me when it was them that mis-sold it to me. Their customer service is terrible and I wouldn't recommend this company to anyone. Absolutely disgraceful!

SOFAS NO SHOW courtesy of Oak Furniture Land
November 22, 2018
Updated review

Ordered two sofas late September, got an email stating they were being delivered beginning of October, no show. The actual delivery date was 23 November. Received email and text message on 5 October stating Fri 23 November and would receive 3 hour delivery slot. Took a days holiday for the arrival of sofas. On Thursday 22 November received a text and email stating sofas would arrive between 9 and 12 noon. That evening after 6pm receives a voicemail on mobile stating that sofas will NOT ARRIVE UNTIL 30 NOVEMBER! No email or text message this time Oakland. If you want a hassle free purchase do not use this crowd of cowboys! I will NEVER purchase anything from this store and will make it my mission to slate them at every opportunity, my next port of call is Citizens Advice for breach of contract.

Sofas, no show!
October 4, 2018
Previous review

I received an email to say my two sofas were arriving on 4 October between 2.30pm and 5.30pm. After taking the half day off work and emptying my lounge, I received a phone call at 5pm to say that my sofas were still in the factory being made and would not receive them until 23 November. Oakland must have known that I wasn't going to receive these sofas way before the actual delivery on the 4th, yet no one thought to inform me. I was not pleasant and as promised, I told the person that I would slate Oakland furniture every opportunity I got and at least I keep my promises!

The furniture I ordered arrived on 19th November. It was not charcoal grey, more a brownish minky colour. The cardboard was stapled to the legs. I rang customer service straight away. It took 3 attempts of 30+ minutes to get through. They advised that it would cost me 25% of the price to return. They suggested I go to the showroom and choose an alternative and the salesman would ring them and we could compromise. I went up there and the salesmen told me they do not deal with customer service and I was given mis-information. I sent 3 emails, plus photos and a recorded delivery letter with my complaint. I have had no reply. The furniture was taken away yesterday. I spent money on rolls of polythene as they said I had to wrap it completely or they would take even more money. No one has responded to my complaint. I will take this further and will write as many negative reviews as I can. I am distressed as have no furniture and have lost £300 for nothing.

Purchased Leather suite 2 years ago and was assured by salesman in Chester showroom that the policy covered colour loss and leather damage. Policy cost £214 pounds. Two weeks ago noticed that arm chair had colour damage. Engineer came out and after 5 minute quick check told me that colour loss was not covered. He even tried to dupe me into signing acknowledgement confirming this. Luckily I read the small text on his signature sheet and refused to sign. I rang Oakland and their repair company who were not interested they said I should have read the small print in the terms and conditions and not listened to the salesman. Quite clearly they do not value me as a customer and I will not use a company who blatantly miss-sell furniture protection. If you are looking to purchase a three piece suite do not spend your hard earned money with this company.

Goodwood modular corner unit arrived in 4 different colours and feet missing on one unit that gouged the flooring
A complaint was raised straight away and photos provided.
Two furtherattempts were made to match a 5 module corner unit all were different batch numbers delivered, they now say cannot guarantee delivery of a colour batch match?.
I have cancelled the order
Despite a verbal commitment by one of their staff. Will now not take responsibility for the floor damage as, apparently I should have inspected it was fit for purpose before I laid it down in my living room.

I am escalating my complaint through ADS and will take them to court if necessary. Take my advice and shop elsewhere.

Shambolic
November 16, 2018

After having an enjoyable time selecting an electric reclining chair, with an added bonus of it being significantly reduced when we came to pay for it... we walked away from the store happily looking forward to the delivery. We were really impressed at how quickly it was being delivered & on the day the delivery guys were pleasant... Why only a one star review you may ask. It had to be removed from the box to fit through the lounge doorway & as soon as I saw it I said "it's the wrong colour"
Fast forward an hour, we took a detachable cushion to the showroom to check the colour swatch... it only comes in 3 colours & ours wasn't even there. Eventually a salesman identified it as the 'old' version of the colour as they had previously had one on display. He then sent an email to customer services (ha) on our behalf. Speaking to a team member is when the problems started. As other reviews state, we forwarded photos etc even wanting us to assemble the chair, which I refused to do. After another extremely unhelpful conversation the next day, my partner once again went to the showroom. I had the brainwave of taking a photo of the material swatch next to the cushion, that would be all the proof they needed... surely.
Wrong. Another phonecall from them informed me that there had never been an 'old' & 'new' colour & it was just a variation in shade. I felt like screaming down the phone.
Another trip to the showroom to see if they could throw any weight behind our complaint, which apparently they can't as its a seperate entity, or something like that. My partner spoke once again to C/S who informed us that even if they did replace the chair, it would come in the same colour plus we would be charged for the pleasure. Eventually, it was agreed that we could have a refund & it will be collected without a charge. I only wanted the chair we had seen in the colour we saw, but am opting for the refund they begrudgingly offered.
Our downstairs space has been upside down with packaging, the chair plus our furniture that a charity were going to take away.
If you look online, it shows the Grayson range in Charcoal just as we expected... Not Silver Grey as delivered. Needless to say, I wouldn't ever recommend shopping here. The worst C/S I have ever had the displeasure of encountering.

Arrogant service
November 8, 2018

Having paid almost £4000 for furniture, we are very disappointed. Fast delivery, but damaged doors to a double wardrobe, then a leg fell off a bedside unit, went to store having had no joy with customer services, they contacted them and gave me the phone and was she arrogant to say the least, the guy in the store was shocked. I have to say that after a lot of hassle, a lot of phoning and going back to store, i managed to get a technician (not my words)to come out and try to sand the doors down and respiratory, it looked worse and the technician agreed. I will take photos and get you a set of doors and come and put them on, all lies. After more hassle we got a set of doors which proved to hard for me to put on, I asked them to send someone to do it,(STILL WAITING) I did get a new unit after more hassle, lots more things we are still waiting to be sorted, the best of it is we took out the insurance of £299, in case of things going wrong, I wouldn't advise anyone to buy even a cardboard box off this company. They must be the worlds worst, A lot of money, a lot of promises and FALSE apologies, and why am I still dealing with this dreadful company when surely customer services or the store should do it. Buy at your peril

We purchased from the Tamworth store 5 assorted units.
On day of delivery, the driver was accompanied by an agency worker. They had no idea on how to lift together and made a right mess of getting two wardrobes upstairs. Being made then to unbox these huge units in the small bedroom was ridiculous.
One dressing table couldn't be delivered for a further 3 weeks, we needed to cancel it as it wouldn't fit into the room with the other furniture in it.
When we took the dresser mirror back to the store the following weekend we were told we could not exchange it for something else as the 7 day exchange period had expired.
There was no willing to help us, just a short 3 line email saying sorry 7 days to late!
No customer service at all, we were going to buy a further unit but after that will be shopping elsewhere.

My mum who is 82 with rheumatoid arthritis purchased a sofa and chair both recliners she was told the delivery men would put the backs on but would not do the electrics so the sales man said he would come and do it as he passes on his way home. Suite arrived the delivery men dumped it in her front room and said goodbye she said they got to put it together they said no so mum said then take it back as she cannot put it together and unpack it then move it into position, she called the sales man surprise surprise he was not there. Delivery men did it for her out of the kindness of their hearts. Next day sales man phoned mum and said he told her she had to unpack it and put it together as if an 82 year old with arthritis would buy a sofa she had to put together and move into place the sales man was only interested in the sale because when he said they couldn't do the electric which involved plugging it in she said she couldn't buy it then as she on her own that's when he offered to do it for her shame on you oak furniture land

Horrendous delivery
October 25, 2018

Horrendous! I ordered a corner sofa and an armchair from oak furniture land. The corner sofa came in 5 segments but one segment was in the wrong colour. I rang customer service which involved a 2 hour phonecall, where I had tosend pictures of each segment via email so they could see which piece was incorrect, I was told that I'd have to pay another £40 for delivery or it would be 6 weeks until I'd have the incorrect segment swapped, I asked for a supervisor at this point who waved the fee and assured me the correct piece would be delivered the following week. I took another day off work for it to be delivered, but the same segment came in yet again the wrong colour. Back to customer service and another 2 hour phonecall, the on hold time is crazy! And eventually on the third attempt I had a complete sofa. But the armchair had to come yet. So today I took my 4th day off work for the armchair to be delivered but, and there's no prize for guessing, it also came in the wrong colour and was taken back. So I had to again phone customer services which involved two one hour phone calls this time. And I eventually just asked for a refund on the armchair stating that I'd rather give that money to another company. The customer service was terrible the people were mannerly but they seemed make mistake after mistake, ordering the wrong piece after confirming what I needed repeatedly. The corner sofa I have is fantastic but the hassle I went through to get it was unbelievable.

Liars
October 24, 2018

My parents in their 80's and my dad is very frail from prostate cancer ordered two electric reclining chairs and a sofa for £3000 as well as paying for extended warranty an another few hundred pounds. My dads chair has stop working after a few months. My mum called them and they sent one of their surveyors out to look at the chair. They said that my dad had pushed the chair whilst it was in the lie down position and had bent the mechanism. Impossible, the chair is only in the lie back position when he is in it. He has to put it in the seating position to get out. He is too frail to move the chair at all, (incredibly heavy). No evidence we can see if anything bent. They said it's not covered by the extended warranty either. Shocking treatment of two frail elderly people. SHAME ON YOU. I will be talking to trading standards. You're saying it's bent, prove it to us as we can't see it. If it is then surly the chair is not fit for purpose if it can bend so easily and should be replaced. I can always drop the chair in to the MD's home in Cirencester (round the corner from where I am) to show him the crap he is selling.

When placing our order in the Cheltenham shop we were actively sold the "White Glove Delivery Service". My wife explained that our home is a cottage and getting the furniture upstairs would require lifting through a hatch in the ceiling, so we would prefer to handle this ourselves. The sales-person insisted that it would not be a problem and the delivery drivers deal with that sort of thing all the time. So we paid £58.99 for the white glove service.

When the order arrived, the delivery team were like a throw-back to 1970's Britain. Scruffy, swearing on the drive and complaining about how the stores put on them and "Elf & Safety" made it impossible for them to deliver the product anywhere other than the ground floor.

My wife called the central customer services team and agreed that we would take the goods and arrange to get them taken upstairs and assembled ourselves and in return they would refund us for the white glove service.

The drivers, with a lot of huffing and puffing and more swearing, manhandled the order in and dropped it in the lounge. They refused to take away the packaging: "Because you ain't paid for the white glove service no more, luv!"

Despite assurances that we would be refunded for the white glove service, this never happened.
My wife emailed, chasing this and has been totally ignored.

This morning we had a double bed and a bedside table delivered. We ordered these in the online sale and despite me going into store to find these they didn't have them to view. I took the chance and ordered them. Lo and behold the items looked nothing like they did online. They were cheap and tacky and just ugly.

I phoned the customer services number and was kept waiting for 40 minutes before I finally got to speak to someone. They advised me that I would be charged £82 for someone to collect them. I was horrified and so the lady put me on hold only to come back and inform me she'd made a 'mistake' and it would be £60. I was still disgusted, and, to be fair to her she seemed embarrassed and apologetic about the greedy company's returns policy. I asked to speak to a supervisor to air my disgust. He was completely unapologetic and extremely patronising. He explained that the company were so nice to offer free delivery in the first place and that it costs money to collect the items from the depot... Yeah I'm not a complete moron, I know how these things work. I explained to him that, yes, of course I would expect to pay something to have them come back and collect them but £60 is unacceptable. It's a day's pay or a day at nursery for my little girl. It would even cost me £60 if I decided to buy a more expensive item!

He refused to budge and so now I've got a pay £60 for someone to come and remove this tacky, disgusting furniture from my house. Wonderful. Needless to say I will never ever ever buy anything from this company.

We recently bought a 3 seater sofa and 2 armchairs from the store not online and was given a delivery date for 6 weeks time, this all went smoothly until the date arrived and the morning of our delivery we got a call from customer service telling us that only the two chairs were loaded on the van not the sofa.
On hearing this I was deeply disappointed and angry at there mistake I needed to take a day off work for this to, customer service then said they will call me back to let me know when they can re deliver my sofa I was not happy, and unfortunately they never called back so I called them again and got more lies as now they were saying it was put on the wrong van and they were trying to find it.
This went on for three days yes that's correct three days of stress anxiety phone calls all made by me they never once did cs called me back I'm now very angry as they had my money and just did not care. They didn't care that we as a large family had nothing to sit on.
Finaly a phone call came from the manager apologising for not getting back to me but then had to inform me that the couch has gone missing and they can't find it (unbelievable) and would have to re order it and it will take 5 weeks to make yes that's five weeks without somewhere to sit disgraceful.
Customer service for Oakland furniture are a joke they don't call u back they really don't care and to top it all I have just asked them for an email to confirm my new order and they won't send me one so I have absolutely no faith in them whatsoever.
If your goods arrive on time and your furniture is intact and Undamaged then I'm sure you would have a good review, however if it goes wrong you are soooooo unimportant it's a joke YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED. I will NEVER step foot inside that company ever again.

Were recently bought a number of items. After a couple of weeks one of the sofa cushions was clearly faulty. Attempted to contact customer services four times by phone and was held on the phone for up to 20 minutes before they cut off the call. Contacted the store who said they could do nothing. Emailed customer services and didn't get a reply. Be aware that if the goods are faulty you cannot expect any help from customer services.

My order was for several pieces of oak furniture all ok. And the Morgan Corner Module suite. Delivery men were fabulous. I didn, t like the corner module of the suite, preferred
It as a settee. The chair arrived damaged, so I informed them within 2 hours of delivery, also that I wanted to return the corner module of the suite. Customer service are horrendous, taking days to reply, I had to prompt them with more email reminders,.
They promised a phone call from someone to resolve my issues, but this didn, t happen. So I had to send 2 further emails to get a reply. 2 weeks from my delivery and finally someone called today. Although I was told I could return the corner module at a cost to me of £87.50, ok that, s their rules? I was today told they will not accept a return? They are sending someone out to repair the damage to the chair, which I have paid full price for and expected it to be in perfect condition. The company as far as customer care, customer service and after sales care is absolutely unacceptable and appalling. I will never buy anything from them again, or recommend them, just the opposite. They are the worst company I have ever dealt with.
