Good value

Northern Tool is a great way to search for items for your shop without going into the store. Tools, supplies, gardening items. Northern tool has a lot to chose from. The Advantage membership is a good deal, too.

Lost and going down

Number #1 in business... make it easy for your customers to do business with you. NT goes out of their way to make things hard, especially if you order anything online. I spent over $1200 with NT in 2020 and never had a order go smoothly. Gift cards CAN NOT be used online to pick up orders in a local store... WTF? Two large items I ordered online were finally delivered over 60 days from order... 60 DAYS! Also, try to get the online price in your local store - disaster. Exception pricing sheets have to be filled out for EVERY ITEM that has a different sales price. This company deserves to be put down and all customers saved from having to deal with an F-rated company.

1st and Last Experience

Like many of us did I ordered a CB from them that they had offered for $8. Having never heard of them let alone ordered from them I jumped at it thinking it could be a "Black Friday" type deal. Within 24hrs I was sent an email stating they could not fulfill the order come to find out it was a pricing error on their end. Not only am I disappointed that I won't be receiving the CB but they are still holding my money hostage... even after they contacted me with FB messages and I sent photos along with order number. Sad that a company can't stand by their pricing nor give people their money back.

Northern Tool deserves its lousy ratings. This company raises its prices just prior to their sales so you will still pay retail. Their sale is nothing but expiring coupons to use on future purchases to hook you in... They send a coupon after purchased items have shipped. Or days later... this allows them the opportunity to analyze what products you have been looking at or are saved in your cart. Prior to receiving your expiring coupon, the price on these items will increase a couple of bucks... so when you use your "coupon" you again will pay the retail price or more than the posted price just days earlier. NO WONDER THEY RECEIVE BAD REVIEWS. Crook mentality. Using your computer search agents you... Listed as a "Family business" like that means $#*!. They use a computer to monitor your shopping to maximize profits. POS - lousy company values.

Short paid merchandise.

Placed two orders with this company. Picked up two taped shut boxes in the parking lot. (Standard Covid-19 procedure.) Got home found one item missing from each order. Contacted customer "care". Was told that they knew about one missing item from one order (shown as in stock when I placed the order), but showed that the other $60 item was picked up. There were no packing lists provided, and each box was marked one of one. THERE WAS NO ROOM IN THE BOX FOR THE DENIED MISSING ITEM. DO NOT BUY ANYTHING FROMN THIS COMPANY THAT YOU PERSONALLY DID NOT OPEN THE BOX AND SEE SEE AS WITNESSED BY THE STORE MANAGER. THEY WILL DEFRAUD YOU IF YOU ARE NOT VIGILANT.

This place is awesome, I just purchased over 3k worth of stuff. I started looking for the item I wanted online and they came up. I tried them out on one item and called customer service to ask a few questions and they were very knowledgeable and friendly I went back to the website and bought all the rest of my items, great prices and deals, this place just got themselves a customer for life, thank you northern tool

Bad return policy

Bought a husqvarna chainsaw thay say its recondition by husqvarna, I received a filthy scratched up saw the drive links on the chain were chewed up beyond use at this point I would say not reconditioned, arguing on the phone for a week that finally agree to send me a return label via email no label and a week later, so I called husqvarna and thay sead that do not recondition there tools, I ask for the name of the company that reconditioned it and thay sead that cant give the info out, so not only lied but I will have to try to repair this unit becomes thay won't send me a return label,

Have a ******* watt generator control board burned up bought the best extended warranty they sell, they had it for repair for 3 months we need it for work. The extended warranty company is useless they just yell at you at what they wont do. The company can say parts on back order for a year if they want and your us a creek with out my ******* watt generator. Avoid this company at all cost on you will lose. Now I have to go buy another ******* watt $3000. 00 generator because Northern tool and the extended warranty department are all bunch of liars.

The robbed us for $3,000

We spent over 3k for a large outdoor tent. We received shipment and were missing roughly 10ft with of tent infrastructure. We told the company and they asked for the part numbers and we explained that the pieces sent created a tent 10ft shorter than what we ordered and the actual tent cover material is 10ft too long due to this so there was no way to build it. They delayed and allowed us to get past the 90 day credit card charge back date then told us that we would have to call the manufacturer which we did. They asked for the order number so we logged into our Northern Tool account and when we tried to view the order we got a "web page does not exist error". This company robbed our non profit for over $3,000...

In September, in order to finish my Christmas shopping early, I placed an order with Northern Tool and Equipment for a pair of men's overalls 36"x30"... all of the items that I ordered from other merchants came within 2-5 days. I kept checking my emails for tracking info on the overalls and received nothing. In early October, I sent an email to check the status of my order and was told that the product doesn't even come thru them and that it would be shipped directly from the manufacturer and that there was a backlog... none of that was mentioned on the Northern website when I placed my order... it clearly showed that the overalls were IN STOCK. More time passed and I checked again... still on backorder. This continued throughout October and then in November I finally received an email that my order would be arriving. It did, and the overalls I received were the wrong size... four inches too small. I immediately called customer service and to describe them as "cool" would be too generous... they wanted pictures of the labels, and I had to send all the info/pictures drop ship to Liberty, the manufacturer. Today is Nov. 15. I have emailed, I have called customer service, I have tried to use the chat... I have repeatedly asked for them to just please return my call with info as to whether they will be replacing the overalls or if I should give up and shop somewhere else. Nothing. I do a lot of online shopping, now that covid is around... everything from groceries to household supplies to pet food to all my Christmas shopping... and I can honestly say that this is BY FAR THE WORST company I have dealt with. They just flat out don't care... they have my money, so case closed.

All wrong

So I went on line to northern tool equipment and was looking for a transmission jack and finally found what I wanted it was a Redline transmission jack (brand name) so it read 499.50 for the jack plus I did the $ 100.00 upgrade with the double tilt plate and added it and went straight check out. And at check out the total showed $ 529.99 and then a $ 100.00 product discount plus $ 25.80 in tax order total $455.79 and free shipping so I order it and my computer screen reads (thank you for your Order) and I took photos of were it shows me ordering Redline transmission jack and the thank you for your order and when I received my order northern tool equipment says I didn't order a redline transmission jack it was some oddball brand without the upgrade,, these guys are rip-offs

Poor customer service

After chatting with a sales rep regarding a replacement engine for a log splitter, I purchased a new engine. I installed the new engine and almost lost fingers due to the recoil. I took the log splitter to have the engine serviced, and was told that the engine Northern sent me was for a lawn mower not a log splitter.
Upon a discussion with their customer service I was told that I needed to do research, and they only gave suggestions for replacements with no guarantees. The specs I gave the sales rep were right off the previous engine. Not sure what research I was supposed to do. They sent the wrong engine and per customer service it's my fault.

Worst company ever

Terrible company. Bought a wood chipper from NorthernTool through their amazon seller. Chipper arrived rusted like it had been sitting in storage forever. The chipper had many design flaws but would have cost me an arm and a leg to return due to it's size. The V Belt snapped on it, so I ordered a replacement. It's been a month since I ordered the V Belt. I contacted them to see what the ETA would be and was told that it is going to be another 5 months until they have another one available. Half a year? For a V Belt that is standard on your chipper line!? Absolutely unacceptable. They pay for review protection on amazon and don't allow criticism on their site. Over priced company. Do not buy from NorthernTool if you have standards.
