We put down the deposit during a cruise in 2918 thinking there are 4 years to make the next trip. Then covid arrived. It has been 3 years. We tried to get back the deposit, but they did not allow us because it passed 30 or 90 days after purchase. Communication with them always takes hours to reach someone if you ask about cancelation or a refund.
Never ever again with NCL after 4 trips with them in the past. They don't care about you. Period. I will make sure all my friends, cruisers past, present or future, know about their reputation.
Norwegian started and ended my cruise terribly. Firstly, one of my excursions was cancelled a MONTH before the cruise but they didn't bother to inform me and all the other excursions were sold out once I was on the ship. That sucked. Going to Alaska and not being able to go whale watching was a HUGE disappointment. Then they completely failed at the end. I used the Port Valet service to get my bag to the airport. They had 7 HOURS to get my bag to the airport and they failed. It did not make it in time for my flight. Contacting customer service is a joke - they don't have a phone number, you have to email them. I have been passed around to 3 different companies Norwegian has tried to blame for the mistake. They refuse to take responsibility themselves and reimburse me for my airport transfer. If you are offering the service you are advocating for them, you are saying it's ok and we can trust them and you should take responsibility when they mess up. Norwegian doesn't care about customer service at all. They are untrustworthy, irresponsible, and I will never cruise with them again.
Our trip was cancelled on NCL due to the COVID19, prior to the cancellation, we sent two doctor's statements verifying that my husband should not travel and we requested a refund... denied! The cruise was cancelled and we applied for a refund... still have not heard anything about getting our refund! NCL... is a rip off and shouldn't be allowed to operate!
My European cruise was cancelled. The entire cost was paid to NCL on their schedule at least 90 days before sailing date. When they cancelled the cruise we were required to wait to even request a refund then given a short window of time to make a request. Once we made the formal request I received a no reply email telling me I must wait 90 more days to get my $4000 back. Since putting your money back on the credit card that was used is a simple matter it is quite obvious they have decided to use their customers for a temporary free loan. NCL tried to get all to take cruise credit instead and made it more difficult to get your money returned. If the customer needs the money for a different vacation or to fund their own short fall in cash due to COVID, too bad. This is not acceptable.
My cruise was cancelled due to COVID-19. They told me I have to wait 3-months for my refund! Today it has been 3-months and they told me to be patient! I am livid and my cc is accruing interest.
I did the 16-day through the Canal, leaving from Miami and landing in LA. I had my own cabin and thoroughly enjoyed myself. Bought the premium drink package for $450 and my bar bill was $3500 at checkout, and I didn't even visit the whiskey bar where they had $400 shots of scotch. The service was exceptional, the employees were all hard-working and pleasant, I didn't run across a single rude person.
The main cafeteria food was generally awful and not very healthy. The salad bar had like six items -- HUH? The specialty restaurants were generally quite good and so was the 24-hour free restaurant. Didn't make it to a single show, mainly gambled (blackjack) each night. Table rules are tight, they should loosen those up and make the games more fun. Most of the time, the casinos were empty because they set such greedy odds on every game.
The best part of cruising for me is being underway, especially leaving port. I didn't get off the boat on half the stops and the ones I did I mostly regretted the decision. It was like walking into a swarm of flies, the peddlers, vendors, and other pests aggressively accost you the second you get away from the ship.
Will I cruise again? I'm not so sure, not after watching these Covid-ridden ships banned from ports. In fact, our ship had a virus outbreak and that was in November and they locked down the ship for the last three days. It was like a precursor to the Corona pandemic. No, doubt I ever get on one of those again, but glad I did the Panama trip.
We never actually got to sail with NCL. Our cruise was cancelled due to the coronavirus outbreak. Our money was refunded promptly to our TA which was great. However we are still owed a considerable amount for the shore excursions we booked and they are giving us the run around. We have been waiting 3 weeks now. Two phone calls we were told it's been processed and we will have within 7 days. Now they are saying to wait another 3 weeks. The service is absolutely appalling.
I've been on 40+ cruises. Seven with NCL. NCL is by far the worst. Many horrible issues. Last cruise with NCL, june 16 2019, on the escape. First of all, we placed our valuables and cash in our safe(we have used these safes many times). Next day could not open. Anyway all our time during the cruise was wasted trying to get them to fix it. We missed excursions and shopping because all was in the safe. I complained many times and they told me there was nothing they could do. Our last full day(after arguing with the captain) they finally came and cut the safe from the wall. After a few hours they called and we picked up our stuff. A good portion of the stuff was burnt. Unbelievable! Then they persisted that we put our items in there in that condition. Nothing done on behalf of NCL. The fun doesnt end here. At disembarking, I punched out and security detained me. It was NCL security. NCL tried to blame customs. It wasn't. I was detained for 2 hrs. No explanation, no nothing. I asked for something to drink and they told me to shut up. We exchanged many words, unpleasant words. An NCL person entered and said I was "a big spender". I did my shopping on board since all our money and cards were held hostage in our safe and we could not shop off ship. I had 5 NCL workers escort me to customs so I could fill out a declaration card in order to make sure I pay my taxes on the purchased items. The grand total in taxes I owed was $9.80. The custom agent was going to let it go but NCL insisted I pay it. For all this, I lost my prearranged ride to airport as well as missing my flight and my prearranged ride from airport.
Norwegian Cruise Line is one of the worst companies I have ever dealt with.
We were set to sail with them on September 27, and had purchased cruise insurance so that if our flights got messed up we would get a full refund for the cruise.
Indeed our flights got so messed that we could not be in the disembarkation city to make the cruise. I promptly filed a claim, expecting to be reimbursed in full for the $1047 I spent on the cruise. I got a response about a week later telling me that the insurance I had purchased did not cover flight problems. How convenient! That is one of the main reasons anyone would purchase cruise insurance, so that if something went wrong with the flights, the customer would receive a full refund.
Since that time I have filed a complaint with the BBB against NCL. NCL nonchalantly replied to that complaint to my email, rather than to the BBB directly, by offering cruise credits. Really! Why would I want to be on your cruise line after you screwed me out of $1047???? I'm looking forward to BBB publishing my complaint.
I find NCL to be a totally untrustworthy company, and you should not to business with them if you expect to be treated fairly. I wish there was a rating worst than "terrible" for this company. What kind of company will take your money even when you cannot make the cruise? Obviously a crooked one like NCL.
My husband and I along with another couple had booked a Hawaiian Cruise on Pride of America scheduled to depart on May 9,2020.
Four days ago we received an email stating that our cruise had been canceled because the ship is coming out of the water on April 25,2020 and not going back in until June 3,2020. We were given a phone number to call as this was the only number that could deal with changes in reservations for this cruise. The window was between 9:00-5:00.
My husband called and was on hold for exactly 1 hour and 30 minutes at which time he hung up. This pattern followed after repeated attempts. When he called the main number of NCL, the rep was very rude telling my husband that he doesn't handle this situation and to continue to try the other phone number. My husband proceeded to tell him that it was literally impossible to get through to a representative and the response from this person was very short and curt saying that over 4000 passengers needed to be rescheduled so we would have to be patient. This to me is the worst customer service I have ever encountered and I will absolutely never book another cruise on NCL no matter what kind of deal they throw my way. This cruise, by the way, was no bargain. Since then we have given up on rescheduling and we have booked a Mediterranean Cruise through Royal Caribbean, a line on which we have sailed many times and will certainly continue to so in the future!
Fraudulent information- Free dinnerand drinks- not free- you pay more in tips than you will ever drink. Free or 99.00 travel to/from- they put us in Montreal and not Quebec City- so it will either cost of 200 to use their transfer or we find our way 3 hours. The agent suggest Uber- are you kidding? Trying to get help- hours on hold and never answered. Called corp and called agents- no one can help. Call their travel department 6 times- busy, then get them and sit on hold now 1.5 hours. Crooks, fraud
I never write these things however after my expensive cruise actually 4 times more the several guests threw conversations discovered.
Lipstick on room service cups, no free water other then ship water unless you but it, 7 hour stay at a great port and 10 hours and a tour forest?
Not to mention the fish restaurant ocean blue was out of fish omg then refused to remove the not disclosed $10 surcharge... however after serving the soggy lobster and raw steak over 2 hours late she felt it was a good gesture to wave the fee really!
The whole cruise all they did was hustle you about signing up for your next cruise only yo discover that it would be over 6k for the same small room that was just paid 5k for and then to search it myself that moment and discover the same room at 4k?. What?
The joy was was undercooked and is doing all to hustle enough business to staff the ship...
Beware...
There is so much more like the race track sharing makes with ever guest and no heaters on the upper decks when they are there and its 40% out...
Still more but I think you get my point!
We have cruised on several cruise lines including Viking, Celebrity, Royal Caribbean and Holland America and have never written a complaint. We have not even left on our cruise with Norwegian Cruise Lines to Alaska and we have had a horrible experience and we are stuck with what they choose to give us.
We booked a special "Sail Away" mini-suite which was supposed to be larger with a larger balcony. Our confirmation designates the category we paid for. We were not allowed to pick our room which was o. K. as long as we got our category. When we received our room assignment we received a mini-suite that was in a different category which has a much smaller room and balcony. When we called our representative, he called back and left a message claiming we had gotten a better room because of its location. When we called back his personal number, we again left a message that this was not o. K. and to please call us back to talk. He didn't call, we called again. Finally after a week we called and asked for the manager. We were given a supervisor who told us many times that on the "website" it says you can get a different room. We DID NOT book through the website but by phone with a representative and we were not told that. She wouldn't do anything about giving us the category we paid for so we asked to talk to a manager. She said she would have one call us in the next day or so. We received a call from another "supervisor" that afternoon and all they did was give us a man who was more firm (actually was raising his voice while talking) and would not budge on helping us. Therefore, we have not received a suite in the category we paid for but instead received a much smaller suite.
We are stuck going on this trip as we have paid in full but we will never book a cruise on Norwegian Cruise Lines again, no matter how wonderful the cruise is.
After travelling all the way from Australia, I was denied entry on the boat as they claimed did not have a valid visa.
This is despite having a letter from the Canadian embassy to say I have been cleared and having travelled all the way from Australia to Seattle with no problems.
I was not the only one who was turned away and there was even a whole family from Brazil who were sent home.
We discussed our situation and we found that we were all told by staff of the Norwegian Guest relations we would have no problems if we did not get off the ship in Canada,.
I had to spend a week on my own expense in US waiting for my family to return.
The guest relations department were no help all told me to read the fine print on my booking form.
I would never travel on this cruise liner ever again-they are criminals and I would be happy to start a class action suit against them if other have found themselves in the same position
Just came back from the KeyWest/Cuba cruise on the Norwegian Sun. This was my fourth cruise with NCL. The food was disgusting, the ship was dirty, and a lot of the crew were not friendly. They had open bar, but if you wanted top shelf liquor you had to pay 4.99 a drink extra. The drinks were horrible. Not one bartender (other than the Atrium Bar) knew how to make a Mojito correctly. They had drinks already in batches to pour in your glass. What happened to muddling the limes? Getting back to the food, it was absolutely terrible. I lost 2 pounds in 4 days! First time I was so hungry on a cruise ship. There were flies all over the food that I just couldn't eat it. I complained to the Matri' D, and he comped me a dinner at the Moderno Restaurant. There were flies there also! He even saw them when he came there to check on us. Upstairs at the buffet, there wasn't much fruit to choose from and what was there was tasteless. Usually there's plenty and very tasty. If you're not picky then it won't matter to you. The dining rooms had the same menu. It all looked like the food they served upstairs in the buffet (cafeteria I call it) Who wants to eat hamburgers, hot dogs or Indian food on vacation? We're not big drinkers, so I feel that the price of this cruise was far more than worth it. If the food was good, I wouldn't care about the alcohol. Also, there wasn't any broadway shows to go to. There actually wasn't much for entertainment at all. At this point I will probably never travel NCL ever again. I'll stick with Royal Caribbean where you ALWAYS have excellent food and service!
I enjoyed the fresh pineapple, dried fruits, and wide array of foreign dishes that were prepared in the buffet, but some of the drinks were pre-made so they weren't as fresh. In certain restaurants, you had to pay an additional $17, even if you pre-paid.
5 time cruising with this company... NO complain. Good prices. Excellent services. Plan to go cruise again just Norwegian Cruise line :) FREE STILE!
They were the first to allow people to have their meals at the time and place of their choosing and not require formal wear.
The rules by cruise lines in this area were set back in the days of Transatlantic liners with First, Second, and Tourist class. Now it is all Tourist class and they were the first to stop pretending that US tourist wanted to dress like First Class on the Titanic.
I've been on one cruise and I really enjoyed it. Would go again.
We are going to take a cruise in 35 days and I find the website and customer service very helpful.
Answer: Legit, I did a 16-day cruise with them and enjoyed myself.
Answer: The only one that had a cruise in my time frame. I only had Christmas break for the time to do it.
Answer: I understand that the shore excursion credit is for $ 50.00 and for only one time use.
