I messed up by not checking into them before agreeing to the $1 trial. And of course like everyone else was then charged $54.95. I have requested a refund but I am not holding out much hope to actually get it back. There was a lot of double talk during the call. And at the end of the call the rep stated that I could do a trial for $1... Run from theses people.
They lock ability to edit info behind a paywall, and if you pay and later want to cancel your membership, they don't let you and they don't refund you, even though it says they do refunds on the website. Don't trust mylife.com
Piece of crap company. Rip offs. Did 1.00 trial they charge me 107.40. Call them to have it removed. They gave me the run around... stay away from the site
Tried the one review for $1. They said call to cancel ongoing subscription. I did immediately. This was business account. 3 months later accountant asked about MyLife charge. They kept changing even though cancelled. Took several phone calls before they admitted I had canceled. Finally gave money back. Unethical and shady business model.
I purchased the $1 trial for 7 days. I explicitly made sure multiple times that the "automatic renewal" was disabled on my account. Come what would have been the renewal date, I lose access to my account as I should have. However, I checked my bank statement and I was still charged $79 and change to a service I no longer had access to. So, I called MyLife directly. Apparently despite the fact they have a spelled out "disable automatic renewal" button, you need to call in order to cancel your account or it doesn't go through. I got my money back in the end but save yourself and your wallet the headache. This company is shady and underhanded.
This is not a reputable company, as I signed up for the "Trial" which was suppose to end in 7 days for $1.00, I cancelled my subscription the same day/same session in which I opened it. It asked me to verify that I wanted ONLY the 7 day trial and if I still wanted to cancel my membership, in which I answered yes only wanted the trial for $1.00. Today, a month later... I look at my bank account to see a charge for $14.95 from this website, so I call them. I explained I only signed up for the trial for $1.00, but OF COURSE they were not willing to refund my $14.95 charge. This right here tells me they are a scam, as MOST online services I've ever dealt with that were legitimate always has apologized and refunded the unauthorized payment and removed my subscription. DO NOT sign up for this site, as it gives you the option to cancel same day but apparently it doesn't cancel it. Thankfully I noticed the charge the first time it was taken out of my account so no more should be taken out.
I authorized a $1.00 charge. MyLife.com charged me $1.00 twice and then charged me $59.95. Thankfully I saw the $59.95 charge on my credit card statement and was able to dispute it. All of the information I saw with the $1.00 I paid was incorrect. I'm not Jewish and I am not Hispanic. I will make sure that I am credited the $59.95 or I will report it as fraud with my credit card company. This website needs to be taken down.
I AM NOT RELATED TO A SINGLE $#*!ING PERSON YOU LISTED, YOU BRAINLESS $#*!ING MAGGOTS! YOU SHOULD BE BURIED ALIVE! YOU ARE DESTROYING MY REPUTATION WITH THIS COMPLETELY FALSE INFORMATION, AND I SWEAR TO GOD YOU WILL $#*!ING PAY FOR IT!
I have looked up several people on this site that I know and the information is very old and not accurate. Their scoring system is whacky also. People who are on the street drug addicts have higher scores that extemely successful and responsible people. Married status is inaccurate, as well as income. I have been divorse for 13 years and it states I am married. People who have died years ago are still listed as alive. They confuse records of people that have the same name.
This company and website are an absolute joke and fraud! Stole my money, wouldn't refund. Completely denied withdrawing it from my debit!
First of all, you are supposed to be able to make your profile private but it's not private at all. Log out and all your info is still visible to the world.
Secondly, it says you can look people up anonymously. Another lie! It alerts people the second you search them by email!
I asked for a refund for the membership I purchased and they denied taking money out of my account claiming I only had 'trial' membership.
BEWARE OF THIS SHADY COMPANY!
Half of my information is incorrect and my "reputation" score is worse than a child molester. I do work at my church which requires a background check. I think I'm good. Also, upon further investigation, this site was sued in 2011 for false information and making you pay to give you a fake list of names of people searching you. Total scam.
When I called for a refund the lady refuse to send me a notice of my refund, she sent a letter about the services I signed up for. I called back and spoke to a manager I had my money the next day... I think it's bad how they mislead you to think something is negative on your record
Signed up for mylife.com for the $1 trial period to cross check a prospect tenant background. Though I cancelled my subscription I was still charged $69.95. On top of that the information provided was inaccurate and incorrect: her two evictions were missing! Good thing I was able to gather this information somewhere else. Now I'm stuck with the credit card charge and having to fight it.
Their behaviors are wicked, illegal. They first collect your information and make it public without your knowledge and permission. And when you realize you're exposed to the whole world, and want to make the created profile private, they start charging you. Who give them the right to collect and public our personal information? Isn't this illegal in the US, a so-called civilized country that emphasize personal privacy? Anyone wants to start suing this immoral, i'll be for sure join!
What everyone else says. Criminal records? What criminal records?! My income is between $1-$149,000? Well, guys, it says I'm single so come at me. Good grief. This is highly illegal. If anyone is going after them legally please message me! This is positively insane.
I started doing some research on this company after googling myself and finding inaccurate and damaging information. I am a healthcare worker and business owner. They are saying I have a criminal record and I don't. This is extremely damaging. They also have two different ages for me, addresses I've never lived at and my x husband who died 14 years ago is apparently now 67 years old and living at my old address. This company and all of it's employees are truly disgusting
I have a relatively bad reputation score but, hey, what do I care? MyLife.com also says that, unfortuantely, I died nineteen years ago. Maybe they think I'm a vampire or a witch. Cool!
SIGNED UP FOR THE 7 DAY $1.00 TRIAL. AFTER SEARCHING FOR WHAT I NEEDED I HIT THE UNSUBSCRIBE BUTTON 37 TIMES. WOKE UP AND FOUND THEY CHARGED MY $69.95. CALLED THEIR 888 NUMBER, NOW THEY SAY I NEED TO GIVE THEM MY CREDIT CARD NUMBER. WTF YOU NEED THAT? IT'S ON FILE. IM AN INVESTIGATOR IN TEXAS AND MY JOB IS TO FIND PEOPLE. THIS SITE CAN'T EVEN FIND ME AND HAS SOOOOO MUCH MISLEADING INFORMATION. DO NO WAIST YOUR TIME WITH THIS CRAP SITE.
I signed up for a trial rhe 7 day and I was charged for one year.
SO, I called and said, today is my 7th day and I did not sign up for 1year of $167.00.
She said I need to sign up for one month for $10 and she would refund the $167.
I told her I did not want it at all.
She said just give her my credit card number and for $9 she could sing me up for a month.
I said NO, I do not want nothing at all!
Then the lady said, well, I cant help you, good bye
Terrible customer service... not to mention, stealing ones money.
They create sensational captions like "So-and-so has court or arrest records!" for pretty much everyone they gather data on. This is to scam people who search themselves into buying a subscription to correct the information. We need to start a class action and sue them for libel. What they do HAS to be illegal, and if it isn't, it sure should be.
Answer: MyLife has a "bad reputation" for charging customers after the 7-day trial even after you cancel your membership. It's a scam site.
Answer: It's called extortion. I, too, marvel that it still exists. Where are consumer protections? Unless it is so discredited that prospective employers just ignore it. Who would pay the exorbitant price for it, anyway? It has duped a lot of people, it appears and, for that reason, it should be put out of business. I just tweaked them with an email. Let's see how low my integrity "rating" goes down with its current 4.0, which in and of itself is a joke.
Answer: Don't bother, they will not honor the request! Create your own spam filter so they are not displayed in your inbox. If you really care, forward them to the spam dept. of your ISP. If enough people do that they will die out thru attrition. They have an $800 million judgement against them and will be forced into bankruptcy soon. Problem is they just rename the site and start again in another state. Takes being chased down and prosecuted to death state by state. Such is our wonderful legal system of loop holes letting these businesses exist and operate while simultaneously being prosecuted in another jurisdiction. Makes no sense to anybody but the scam artists and state legislatures on the take $$$$
Answer: Goodluck. It's a scam this site is completely bogus as not worth a second thought
Answer: Sadly, just like a famous rock star once said: "only the good die young"
Answer: Because it's fraud and once they get your account number they just charge whatever they feel like to your account without letting you know.
Answer: You have to contact them via email and request removal. It takes a few days. Copy the URL and reference it in your email. Google: how to delete your name from MY LIFE and follow the instructions.
