I joined My Life looking for my sister. The site lured my in by showing her address that was 20 yrs or so old. After paying $5.95 ( I thought), the information was completely out of date.
So after approx 30 minutes, ( it took that long to finish the report), I was charged $70.40.
This a total scam. Why is company allowed to do business?
I also tried to look up myself. I don't exist.
I have called these morons a couple times now (of course they are based in India) to cancel my account. They said everything was taken care of during my last phone call and I'm getting charged $14- something again.
I'm reporting them to my bank so they can't charge me at all. CHECK YOUR BANK ACCOUNTS! I guarantee if you did the $1 trial you have been charged $14+ by them monthly since then, even if you did call and speak to one of them.
This, to me is a total rip-off. I was seeing what was on the web about a person and mylife popped up with a free 4 day use term that costs a $1. When I did find the person they then wanted me to upgrade to get the "free" information they had promised. Now they are billing me $59.95 for 6 months of "service" because I didn't cancel the account in the 4 days, i did call the day they charged my credit card. Account is canceled and I can use this useless service for the next six months, my lucky day,
They have bogus information about me on their stupid site. How can sites like these get away with posting false information?
I looked up my name to find a picture of a young girl that of course isn't me had my birthday and some correct info then reading more they have a lot of false info. I have never been arrested or convicted of a crime. It said i had. It said i was evicted never have been. It stated i lived in places i have never lived. I plan on contacting them to have this false information remove. This could destroy a persons life especially if a employer looks you up. I'm in the medical field which i get life scan i wouldn't be able to work in my field if i was convicted of a crime as this company put on their site.
I needed to research a person and MyLife kept popping up offering a free search service. First of all nothing is free in life, they asked for $1 (I imagine so they can acquire credit card information and set you up for a 5 day trial that automatically sets you up for auto renewal fee of $59.95 every six months I think.
So I signed up and started my search (be aware once you start the process you are committed to at-least 20 minutes waiting on line) I did get a report, didn't seem very complete. So I thought Id check the validity of the website by doing a search on myself.
So I spent the 10 min. To enter the information requested and then hit search. After a few moments of processing my input sent me back to the pick and plan and sign in page. I tried this process several times going back to my start page and "Dashboard" did the process several times each time it sent me back to the same place.
So! I called their help line and I must say they answered reasonably quickly and I was talking to on of their associates on a recorded line. I told her the situation and gave her requested inf. And she put me on hold. After a few minutes the associate returned to the line and first she told me that she would turn off the "Auto Renew Function" linked to my account (that was nice) then she told me there were several accounts being setup in my account and that she would clear that up and send me an email so I could set a proper password. That was 6 hours ago and so far no email that she said "I should have in 8 min. Or less".
While the information is not always accurate, (for ex: on there, I am married. In real life, I've been divorced 18 years) you can get some good information. MyLife saved me from going out with a man who had an extensive criminal background. Now, before I go out with a guy, I always consult MyLife. Also, I've had to call MyLife a couple of times for questions and the representatives were always professional, pleasant and helpful. Wait time was always very short, happily!
They advertise a cheap background search, then bill you for 59.95... When you try to cancel, they first try to cancel the renewal... not the initial 59.95 charge... This is a real scam.
While the information is not always accurate, this site is critical for those of you who are on dating sites. You can corroborate much information to determine their truthfulness. You can get their most recent address in 95 percent of the cases and other cities and states in which they have lived. You can, more importantly, find out if they have any criminal offenses. I was about to meet a guy who had several... one for theft over $1000. Needless to say, I stopped communicating with him. I also found MYSELF... and the bankruptcy I filed decades ago. That didn't please me but it is what it is. The guy I'm dating now has NO criminal records, NO liens, No nothing. I feel safe. This site to me was worth the money I paid for 6 months.
I signed up for the dollar trial period & canceled it within the allotted time frame & also requested that my account be closed or canceled and to please not charge my account anything except for the one dollar that I agreed to, but have since been charged $1 on 4 different dates along with another charge of $18.95 and then another charge for $79.95 and I'm now in the process of trying to get my refund from this fraudulent company that keeps charging my account whenever they feel like it in all different denominations but have not heard back from anyone yet. DO NOT waste your time or even your dollar because then you will get emails telling you that people are looking for you just so you go online to get your money, so do not fall for it because it is completely unconscionable how this company is run and their billing practices because I did not authorize any of these charges except for the one dollar trial period & they will not explain to me what these unauthorized charges are for and how they came up with these amounts because I know I never authorized over $100 to be charged to my account for this BS and I am posting it everywhere until I get my money back and I am also contacting the Better Business Bureau because all the information on there is incorrect and I do not know where they get it from. If you are having a problem with my life.com and on authorized charges on your accounts please go to the Better Business Bureau and put a complaint in and maybe something will be done if we do it as a group because I am contacting them today if I do not get my credits back or if I do not hear back from them at all.
I called a couple of months back and asked for my profile to be deleted. Fast-forward to today and I get an email from mylife.com telling me to increase my reputation rating. I called and talked to an agent who, after verifying me, said she deleted my program. She then gave me a confirmation number. I asked her to send me an email with the confirmation. Never got the confirmation email. Called back an hour later. Agent says they don't send out emails and there is no manager available and I would have to wait 1 to 2 hours to hear back from someone. He needs to be flat out fired!
I called back until I finally got a manager, which is something should not have had to do!
Originally I just assumed that I needed to provide more information about myself to improve the dismal score this site gave me but boy was I wrong. Despite have over 100 positive reviews online on multiple sites I'm still a scumbag on Mylife.com. I own multiple business with great reviews, have an exceptional FICO score, clean history but according to Mylife you should cross the street if you see me walking towards you. Completely bogus website, useless and you cannot trust anything on this site. My guess is the real bad guys score high on this site.
Paid $1 for the free trial disabled my account before the 3 days still charged me 41.85 for not calling into canceling! Ridiculous! Plus information on background was incorrect!
Your reputation score is a joke if most Information is wrong about you makes you look bad if you dispute anything that is incorrect they never change anything or make any changes on there site you score just stays very low they make you rate there site or you cant post your comment i wouldn't even give them a 1 but i had to SQD
Mine says that I "DO" have a criminal background. The only thing that I've done that could even be considered corrupt is ignoring a burnt out light bulb for a few weeks (and possibly any grammar errors in this review).
After reading other reviews it is obvious that My Life is a complete fraud. I didn't pay for their minimal service for that reason but I know they put out fake information to get people to give them money because they claim to have my arrest records when in fact I have never been arrested for anything. I can only imagine the pain they have caused with their fraud and the slimeball people responsible for it. The government should go after these people, make them repay every penny they cheated people out of, and lock them up.
I signed up for a $1 8-day trial simply to check information on my online profile. The confirmation email said NOTHING about auto-renewal. 5-days later they post an $85 pending charge on my credit card. I try to deactivate the account, and there's no way to do so online. I call to deactivate it, and they, of course, try to sell me more services. When I asked if I could simply deactivate the account immediately, they got nasty.
I did a Google search on my name and mylife.com popped up. I looked at their ratings of me and I found them very misleading IMO, implying that my moral character might be questionable. Note that they protect themselves legally by always using the phrase "may have". For instance they state that I "may have Lawsuits, Liens or Bankruptcies", I "may have Sexual Offenses" and I "may have records indicating that they have been evicted from their home". Of course I have none of these. If I give them a little more information about myself, I can see a free detailed background report that "may include" Criminal or Court records found, and Possible Lawsuits, Liens or Bankruptcies Found... or not, at which point they now know more about me and perhaps will still withhold details until I pay them.
This company stole money! I canceled a trial and they still proceeded to steal money seems like they pick n choose how much they wanna take out I'm the wrong person for this $#*!! They're going down
Tried the $1 trial and next thing you know they charge me $74.95. I contacted them and they said they'd give me a refund and then charged me $14.95. So for now I lost almost $90. I will update if I'm given a refund since I've seen reviews saying they got their money back or not. This business gotta go.
Answer: MyLife has a "bad reputation" for charging customers after the 7-day trial even after you cancel your membership. It's a scam site.
Answer: It's called extortion. I, too, marvel that it still exists. Where are consumer protections? Unless it is so discredited that prospective employers just ignore it. Who would pay the exorbitant price for it, anyway? It has duped a lot of people, it appears and, for that reason, it should be put out of business. I just tweaked them with an email. Let's see how low my integrity "rating" goes down with its current 4.0, which in and of itself is a joke.
Answer: Don't bother, they will not honor the request! Create your own spam filter so they are not displayed in your inbox. If you really care, forward them to the spam dept. of your ISP. If enough people do that they will die out thru attrition. They have an $800 million judgement against them and will be forced into bankruptcy soon. Problem is they just rename the site and start again in another state. Takes being chased down and prosecuted to death state by state. Such is our wonderful legal system of loop holes letting these businesses exist and operate while simultaneously being prosecuted in another jurisdiction. Makes no sense to anybody but the scam artists and state legislatures on the take $$$$
Answer: Goodluck. It's a scam this site is completely bogus as not worth a second thought
Answer: Sadly, just like a famous rock star once said: "only the good die young"
Answer: Because it's fraud and once they get your account number they just charge whatever they feel like to your account without letting you know.
Answer: You have to contact them via email and request removal. It takes a few days. Copy the URL and reference it in your email. Google: how to delete your name from MY LIFE and follow the instructions.
