This appears to have been a total waste of our money. My heritage is very definite for 3/4 of mine being 3rd generation Germans (documented) and 1/4 scotch-Irish (by verbal background). It showed me over 78% British isles, over 15% Italian and only around 5% Central European.
My wife's is less well documented but mainly British and Alsace Lorraine and German areas. She was shown over 85% Scandinavian with most of rest Italian.
I use the site for several years and I am very satisfied with the opportunities that it provides. All I need for my family tree is here.
We LOVE this site! We started wtih the free trial, but very quickly and happily upgraded to access all that MyHeritage has to offer! It is incredibly addictive to click on all the Matches and Discoveries and watch as your tree grows up and up through time!
I have been able to build my Dad's side of the family in a straight line of Direct Ancestors back an astonishing 16 generations to the year 1480! It is FASCINATING to see names and dates for all of my great grandparents!
I have read and saved articles in early newspapers and census records from the U. K., the U.S. and Canada! The DNA info section keeps me posted on the progress of my sample which should be ready in a couple more weeks. We are all making bets and % predictions while we wait...
I am not sure what all the negative reviews are about, so far this company and its products have been a very positve experience. I have a new (time-consuming!) hobby, connections around the globe, and a wonderful sense of appreciation for modern life. I spend quite a bit of time thinking about the lives lead by my earliest ancestors. It's an amazing time to be alive!
I am still very curious about my DNA results. I feel that they were not very specific they just listed major areas which consist of a broad range of nationalities.
So Far so Good: I find everyone helpful, courteous and knowledgeable. I have now used them on 3 occasions, and will use them again for more DNA searches.

Make sure you switch off the 14 day free trial or they will automatically bill you $119. Took me 2 hours to finally get through. Initially spoke to "Breck" who was very rude. Had to call back and was eventually credited back my money. TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE.
After months of waiting for my DNA results. I truly believe I only got the results due to posting a bad review on sitejabber. But anyway, my DNA estimate came back as almost 100 percent European. My mother has papers that says she is 25% Cherokee Indian. I was very confused especially since my wife's grandmother was found on census records as being a born Choctaw and her grandmother always told her of this. So I called Myheritage, today They said that they have only been doing Native American DNA since December, and will update my results within 6 weeks. They said they were having a hard time deciphering Native Americans, with the Brits. Yet no where on the website does it say that. It also implies that your ethnicity estimates will not change. I am very confused by this, but will wait and see what happens. But my results have been there since February 2. My wife's parents believe the whole thing is a scam, and will not take the test. I wonder, was this all just a bunch of bologna? Has anyone else had this problem. I would like to take a test through Ancestery.com but, I am not rich by all means and do not have money to be blowing off in the wind. Any feedback would be good feedback, please help! Zero percent Native American for both Myself and my wife.
I only wanted to know how to access another's website but could only talk to Tech support as there was no one else made available for this topic. I was #12 in line and I finally got through after about ten minutes.
My non tech question was answered even though it was not a tech matter.
Nlarge your menu to include non tech questions and don't make thew wait so long!
I have had a few occasions to phone the help line and the staff have always gone the extra step to answer my questions and rectify any issues I had,
I've read a lot of the reviews and they run very good to poor. I am satisfied, more than satisfied. I did have a small problem probably created by me but getting them on the line was quick and got me an easy fix. Service level is very satisfying. Now as far as the tree builder site, I am getting more connections than with other sites I've tried, also did the DNA test. Very interesting results. Family Trees cost some money to gather, think if you had to hire a Researcher. I understand a free period but why would you think it won't cost something in the long run? " You get what you pay for"
I had a DNA question about not being able to upload my raw file. Dana, the MH customer representative patiently walked me through the process. I discovered that this can't be done on an IPad. You must be using a computer! Who knew! Thank you Dana.
Their DNA results are a scam and they will not respond to phone calls or emails. Scam company and a waste of time. I hate companies like this that lure you in to sucker punch you later. DNA is so inaccurate.
Resolved my issue in 10 minutes on the phone, after trying to fix it myself for the better part of a day lol. Lovely and polite. 5 stars.
MyHeritage DNA results have now been duly received indicating my originate regions. Unfortunately Haplogroups and Mutation were missing in your results. You should definitely benefit by adding these values onwards. The lack of data prevents me from updating the Local Swedish Haplogroup Database. Marietta friendly confirmed your considerations to add the requested values, which is most appreciated in particular if you are able to send these separately to my attention.
In general MyHeritage provide a hugh amount of ancestor data. Likely a large number of users have exported their data from other sources. Interesting to find that more than 20 researchers share my ancestor back from 1715. Receipt of all the smart matches have been highly appreciated.

So many research program ar good. But Myheritage have an advance. They are so easy to call then you need help with your research and you really need that feedback to be succesful in your research. They are always friendly and helpful.
Two DNA test results = 49% Central American defined as Indian, Spanish and African. What does this mean? Am I 48% Indian and 1% Spanish or 1 % Indian and 48 % African? Don't waste your money!

My wife and I purchased the DNA kits and I activated mine with a little used email account and my wife's on our usual one. Naturally we got concerned about the lack of notifications for my sample so I phone the 0800 number.
From MY number Dana was able to see that I had purchased two kits, they had received them both and which email address I had used... GENIUS!
The support given to me as a beginner was more then I could expect. I find a lot of patience and a will recommend MyHeritage to my friends for sure
I really appreciate that someone has created a software like MyHeritage. It is great to "build" your family tree, to put your family photos on your website and many other things and you can all share with your family.
Every (technical) problem has been solved by MyHeritage team even the responses were almost always in English and not in Czech even they knew we prefered communicate in Czech for better understanding.
Answer: My issue was the automatic renewal without any kind of courtesy reminder prior to the effective date, as other businesses do. Advising one year in advance is a poor business practice. When I contacted them immediately on the renewal effective date, they refused to cancel and offered me a 25% discount. They eventually gave me the full refund but it was due to me turning it over to AMEX to resolve. I do however agree with the advice to base your renewal on your own personal experience.
Answer: You can find your site subscriptions via MyHeritage homepage - pull-down menu on the right upper corner button "Settings". Then click on "My purchases", and button "Site subscriptions". Click "View details". The details contain section "Cancel subscription". Maybe you can get advice by mail from MyHeritage support team ([email protected]).

Answer: Dear Jonathan, Yes I have the same problem, I wrote to My Heritage and they have still not responded to my request for assistance. They are highly Sloppy and unprofessional in responding to customer request for assistance. Even though they have and excellent Technical Team. Fortunately I have another Computer with Windows 8 as a result of which I am able to continue working with my Website. But recently a few problems have cropped up with the recent upgrade of the My Heritage Program and have sent in a request for assistance and till today 3-5 months later I have no response. Apparently the company believes that they can play games with the customers. I firmly believe that they have somehow gone into self destructive mode.

Answer: Hi After posting my complaint about MyHeritage on here I got a very quick response from some one called Dave at the company. He told me to send an email to [email protected] and add the subject Dave: sitejabber. He responded a couple of days later - I emailed on a Saturday - and the auto repeat on my subscription was cancelled and my money refunded within days. Hope this helps.
