I purchased a one year membership to this site in March 2016, and used it very rarely, as the content was nowhere near as good or complete as on the site I have used for several years (and which always alerts me two weeks before my subscription renewal is due). Today (March 15th 2017) I received notification via email that £90 would be taken from my bank account - TODAY! This afternoon I placed a call to their billing department to request a refund, only to be told somebody would have to call me back in 3-4 days - surely an unacceptable delay in anyone's view. A Billing Department should be able to process such a request within a few hours. I have subsequently had to contact my bank and cancel my debit card, as I do not feel I can rely on MyHeritage not to take more money from me.
Let this be a warning to anyone buying online - always use a CREDIT card - or one of the well-known organisations that handles monetary transactions.
As for MyHeritage.com... if by any chance anyone from that company is reading this, I suggest you review your business practices and start warning people about impending payments. It is always possible they may not want to renew with you, and may even earn you a good reputation for customer service. I worked for many years in a customer-facing environment, and if i had treated customers in the way you have treated me so far, I would have lost my job many times over.
I signed up to see if it is a better site than Ancestry... DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY! Useless info and then they charge your account and you have a helluva time cancelling! When the guy, with a strong foreign accent, finally called me they were only going to refund 50% of the $250 fee! I said I tried cancelling immediately when I discovered they had charged my card! When I called all I got was a recording saying "no one is available" with no options to talk to a real person! Well I told the guy that called he had better refund the entire amount and that I disputed the amount and would complain to everyone I could! He then said they would give a full refund... but won't believe it until I see it! DO NOT RECOMMEND MY HERITAGE!
What a waste of $85. Signed up to a premium account only to find out the if you want to see the documents, you need to pay for the Data subscription. Not what I was told when I signed up.
15 mar 2017... Tried calling them, held for hours still no one to talk to. Left messages for them to call me. No one even bothered.
I even emailed them as a Premium account holder I should have "priority access" but a week later I still do not have any email reply.
16 March 2017... This morning I managed to get through to tech support. They told me they would get the sales rep to contact me... guess what... nobody has bothered calling me! I have now left 4 messages to the sales rep and I have sent two emails!
This is the worst customer service ever!
Scam scam scam!
Stay away
This is a scam site please don't waste you money... I filled out all the required fields still got nothing which i thought was a little bit odd. I typed in my info to get search on myself, and zero... nothing... so I cancelled my trial subscription which still cost me $14.99 multiply that... total scam
After seeing an offer on facebook for Premium subscription for $82.50, i paid for it on March 2,2017. Almost immediately, i started receiving emails several times a day. Since i was limited to the amount of information i could research with the Premium script, i decided to upgrade to Premium Plus. One of the many emails i received offered the Premium Plus script for $93.12 and stated that if i upgraded, it would refund the $82.50 i paid at first. That was on the 5th of March 2017. Still cannot get all info on my search. Still have not received a refund. And i am still getting emails wanting me to pay $119 to get access to military, census, obituary, Etc. It is a ripoff. I have learned a life lesson. If you want to research, go to the library.

Payed for DNA test. Some 8 weeks later theyes claimed I was 54% British Irish. Lol as they say about most here. 0%Italian! When my entire mother side is 100% Italian! Wtf. This site cannot be doing real DNA testing. They simply use last name as guide and my last name is not related to me whatsoever!

The DNA test results you sent me are so broad 65% scandinavian and 35% Iberian - where is the native american Indian from my Grandmother's side? I would like to request a refund so I can get it done properly with another lab.

My Barclaycard account was charged on 5th March for the sum of £90.00. (Ref: 1-385-313-975). I wasn't at home on that date and I don't know how details of my Barclaycard were known. I wish to have a refund of this charge immediately, please.

Myheritage refunded 50% of the annual subscription cost that was taken from my credit card details previously lodged with them. When I sent a message querying this, as I had not asked for my subscription to be renewed, I was told it was automatically renewed unless I unsubscribed, The company rang me when they said they would, and as a goodwill gesture refunded 50% of the cost. That amount now appears on my bank statement.

I took more than one Dna test through multiply companies and myheritage was drastically different. The other companies shown massive amounts of ethnicities a break down search this only shown two. British and Irish. The one I found to be very good was ancestry. With all the Italians and hispanics and native Americans in my family it picked up none of this. However the other companies did pick this up. Even tracing me back to Africa. Please take muiltple tests before believing any of this

When I finally got my results it showed that I am 97.5% British and Irish, 2.5% other.
How much British; how much Irish?
I don't believe that since my maternal great grandmother was 100% Cherokee Indian.

We paid for and sent a sample for a DNA test to MyHeritage about a month ago and there has been no response. Their customer service is non existent. It is very challenging locating the 800 number and then when you find it and call, you are always greeted by a recording that says they are not available. They also don't appear to have a way to contact them by e-mail. So, I will be sending them a snail mail letter asking what ever happened to the results of our DNA test. I am totally dissatisfied with MyHeritage. I would give them zero stars, but they don't have a button for that, so I have graded them with one star.

Was curious about my ancestry and saw an add offering dna testing through MyHeritage for 99 bucks and could have results in 4 to 6 weeks. I immediately signed up and immediately regretted it. First off after paying and signing up to their site, MyHeritage didn't have record of my purchase, I called support and had to provide my receipt to get the order completed. 2nd There was a delay shipping my dna kit, after sending an email i got an apology and an explanation that they were backed up on orders and mine would be out shortly... ok no biggie. Got my kit and immediately completed my end of the test and shipped out my sample. 3 weeks went by and saw that my sample had not been received. I emailed support concerned and suddenly my dna kit tracker registered my sample arriving yet never received an email. 3rd For 5 weeks I watched my results tracker sit idle, keep in mind this whole process is suppose to be done between 4 to 6 weeks. I called support and had to wait 30 minutes for their "support" tell me that it was being processed but couldn't give me any more info because that wasn't his department. 4th 7 weeks went by with still no activity. I sent an email asking for a refund and instead got no response until my kit tracker made and advance of 1 of 4 steps (it has yet to go past this point) in the process. This was followed by a short email saying "it appears everything is in order and my kit is being processed". When i sent a follow up email about a time estimate, I got no response. 5th I have been adamantly emailing asking for a refund which I'm getting no response. 6th coming to this and other review sites I'm seeing all negative lengthy responses to MyHeritage's service and the only positive reviews are either one word sentences or brief sentences that are clearly MyHeritage employees trying to cover up the ripoff that is MyHeritage. Save your money and spend it somewhere else, MYHERITAGE IS THE WORST!

MyHeritage sent notice that my kit wasn't registered when it was. When I got the results it indicated that the kit belonged to a Hispanic woman and the DNA results are no where close to my heritage. Spent numerous phone calls with representatives trying to resolve the issue. Long wait times. Never got the issue resolved.

I know that there are other apps where is easier to find past documentation, but I am very happy with My Heritage, it's easy to move on it and whenever I had a doubt I had a great and quickly response. I would like to thank MAOR who spend time solving my doubts with pacience and excellent explanations.
Do not waste your money. The relationships within my family were confirmed by the DNA tests but the ethnicity results made no sense. One of my children was supposed to be 23% Iberian despite my husband being only 4.5% and myself 0%!
I have had no response from Myheritage to my telephone and email messages requesting an explanation.

I waited 45 minutes to speak to an agent to cancel my data subscription. The agent who answered once he found the reason I called put me on hold and said I had to speak with the agent who took my order. He was busy but would call me back. I waited all day. No one called. I had the person I spoke with repeat my telephone number. He had my number, can't use the excuse that he called me but reached the wrong number. Long Wait and broke their promise to call me. This is a red flag for me. If I can't trust a company I won't do business with them.
I recently went on this site and had a look. When I saw I had to give a credit card number I went off the site as I don't pay for anything before I've decided if I want to. Anyway somehow these people claimed the $155.99 from my pay pal account don't know how they did this but they did, all I can say is they are scammers. I'm now having to wait until paypal deals with it
We sent in a kit for my wife and I at the same time. My wife's results arrived first. Immediately saw inaccurate results. My was listed as about 75% British/Irish. That actually seemed to make sense. My wife's mother's family was all English as far a family history indicated. My wife's father oral history was less clear. His (my wife's father) mother was not sure if she was English or French. The 75% British/Irish would seem answer that she was English.
The results for my wife indicated 20.4% Italian indicating my wife's father's father would be mostly Italian. However, it has been documented through historical research that my wife's father's father was German. The family tree has actually been traced back 5 generations in Germany through verified birth records.
Now, the real problem! I downloaded the raw data. My wife (yes she is a biological female) was provided Y chromosome results. Women have two X chromosomes and do not have a Y chromosome.
My results have finally arrived, 10 days after my wife's. The results indicate I am 100% British/Irish. I would have no problem being 100% Irish, BUT I AM NOT. Indeed my father's family has been documented to be completely of Irish decent on both sides. My mother's mother emigrated from Ireland to the US. There is excellent documentation birth, naturalization and more to verify. However, my mother's father actually emigrated from France. His name was Cheverier. My Cheverier cousins have researched the family history back five generations in France, Again, this research has been documented through official birth, death, marriage, and naturalization records. In fact my Grandfather Cheverier, a Parisian trained chef, was the chef at Mark Twain's West Hartford home. THEREFORE I CANNOT BE 100% British/Irish!
MyHeritage is more about marketing and selling products that genetic accuracy. Don't waste your money!
Answer: My issue was the automatic renewal without any kind of courtesy reminder prior to the effective date, as other businesses do. Advising one year in advance is a poor business practice. When I contacted them immediately on the renewal effective date, they refused to cancel and offered me a 25% discount. They eventually gave me the full refund but it was due to me turning it over to AMEX to resolve. I do however agree with the advice to base your renewal on your own personal experience.
Answer: You can find your site subscriptions via MyHeritage homepage - pull-down menu on the right upper corner button "Settings". Then click on "My purchases", and button "Site subscriptions". Click "View details". The details contain section "Cancel subscription". Maybe you can get advice by mail from MyHeritage support team ([email protected]).
Answer: If you are looking to get as many connections to your tree that you can, use My Heritage. If you want flexibility in who is added to your tree, use Ancestry.
Answer: Dear Jonathan, Yes I have the same problem, I wrote to My Heritage and they have still not responded to my request for assistance. They are highly Sloppy and unprofessional in responding to customer request for assistance. Even though they have and excellent Technical Team. Fortunately I have another Computer with Windows 8 as a result of which I am able to continue working with my Website. But recently a few problems have cropped up with the recent upgrade of the My Heritage Program and have sent in a request for assistance and till today 3-5 months later I have no response. Apparently the company believes that they can play games with the customers. I firmly believe that they have somehow gone into self destructive mode.

Answer: Hi After posting my complaint about MyHeritage on here I got a very quick response from some one called Dave at the company. He told me to send an email to [email protected] and add the subject Dave: sitejabber. He responded a couple of days later - I emailed on a Saturday - and the auto repeat on my subscription was cancelled and my money refunded within days. Hope this helps.
