My issue was changing the name of my Family Tree. I couldn't find any FAQ's in the manual so I went online and got directions on how to change the name online. I followed the directions but still wasn't able to change the name. When I phoned tech support, after a not-too-long wait and to make a long story short, I was instructed how to change the name, and it turned out that the directions for changing the name in the Builder were different from those for changing the name online. Once I got that sorted out, changing the name was a snap. Olivia was courteous and very patient. I have now traced my tree back to my Great Grandfather, in the meantime having added almost 700 names to my tree, with at least that many more to add. My Heritage is a fantastic tool for creating a family tree with so many features and report options, as well as telling you what each person's relationship is to the Manager of the tree. I love it! I don't understand why anyone would say My Heritage is a scam.
Look out for myheritage.com. They are a total scam. Do not try their trial. They'll really grab your CC and run it for full amount and never refund if you call or contact them. Their phone call types are either in a foreign country or in la la land and read from a script. They do not listen to you, either. There is no discussion about their abusing your CC. Watch out. Even your CC company can't combat this. We had to change our CC card. Pass this along to all your social media friends as well.
I needed help to activate my DNA code, called and got the help I needed. Very good help, thank you!
Will call again if i NEED more help!

This is not something you would find out until it is too late: The RESTORE function does not work. TECH SUPPORT KNOWS ABOUT THE PROBLEM. It has now been well over 100 days and they have no fix. "We'll let you know" is all they've said. Obviously if there is no restore function, your backups are useless.
THINK: Do you want to run the risk of losing all the hours you've put in?
For me, it is too late. I'm sorry I chose this company. I hope you can learn from my mistake.
UPDATE 7 months later: There is no update. Apparently they have no intention of addressing the issue. I assume it is part of their marketing plan: They know that once you put any time in on their platform, you've got too much invested to back out.
Du var suveren til å forklare, og så snakket du svensk. Det hjalp å få noen som en kunne forstå. Tusen takk.
I had difficulties with the Family Tree Builder which was entirely the fault of my PC settings however I could not fix it. I received highly professional assistance and the technician who called me back exactly at the allocated time fixed the problem efficiently. Great service! As for the Myheritage progam itself, I have been using for 5 years and can't fault i. Very satisfied
I just got my results back and the results were way off. I am A full blood Native American and they said I am 88% white! They are not a trustworthy source for your DNA. Avoid them! I will be turning them into the BBB.
Maya was extremely helpful in showing me how to add my daughter to the MyHeritage login that I had set up for myself. I appreciated her not being rushed because of the backlog of callers.
Dana was very patient and answered all questions in a manner easy to understand
To get started. She took the time to get problems straightened out that i had messed up and promised to follow up to fix the problems.
Maya was able to sort through my multiple email addresses (4) and consolidate them to one area. The wait was a little long, but the service was excellent.
Tried to move my site from online to the Family Tree Builder. The export didn't finish succesfull. Result: online site could not be used anymore. New exports didn't work either. Fixed after 2 (!) weeks. Some weeks later after a copy/paste action in a Note field of a certain person the site again froze. All they have to do it to clean the content of that Note field under that person but the helpdesk advises to delete en re-enter that person.
What I am really missing a good technical support from people who know about programming and databases. And don't fix the result, fix the cause!
Used once a year ago---think I signed up for a one month trial---and just got billed $153 even though I haven't used since and don't recall any email or any box I checked giving them approval to automatically renew. Phone rep had to get manager and then offered half off. So I pay almost $80 because they scammed me. No legitimate business has to operate this way.
I decided to give MyHeritage a try on a whim. I have paid member ships to other sites and thought since we had DNA data I would upload it and see how it compared. First, it took FOREVER to get the results. While I was waiting, I uploaded my family tree. Their "matches" and hints were off, they were clearly for the wrong people. Their records were very limited and could be found for free on many other sites. But that wasn't even my biggest complaint.
When I got the DNA results back, they were clearly off. Other sites had it right. Theirs was not. Not only that, but I got sales calls asking me to upgrade within the 14 days. I don't want to be harassed with sales calls when they took nearly that long to get the DNA results uploaded! Further, during one of these calls I specifically cancelled my subscription and told him "no thank you, I'd like to cancel". He pushed and pushed in a slimy salesy way trying to get me to buy their Premium package (Oh, and also, I couldn't do ANYTHING with my tree in the 14 days because I wasn't a Premium member. So... total waste of time). I told him no, just cancel it because it's not of value to me. To which he replied that he would take care of it but wanted to know if he could call again another day if he could get a better deal. I asserted to first cancel, and he is welcomed to call back but I work during business hours and don't answer. This was on the 11th day of my 14 day trial. Today, I got invoiced for the full year, without even that salesman's discount applied. SLIMY. I called and reached Connor who condescending told me I should have read the contract more thoroughly. He was rude, and told me the best he could do was make sure it didn't auto-renew next year. I advised I was disputing the charges. He said he would give me 25% off. No, I want the refund and my membership cancelled. He said he could not cancel because I used the site during my FREE 14 day trial. Hi, it's FREE for 14 days and if you cancel you CANCEL. I cancelled on the 11th day. He then told me the best he could do was a $50 refund. The site is terrible, their service is terrible and their DNA results are inaccurate. Don't waste your time or money. Go with more reputable sites!
I read this reviews and I'm kicking myself in the butt for not reading the reviews first. I know my mothers side of the family and her heritage, so I'll recognize if it's a scam. I hope they don't go off my last name... because it's my married name. If you claim that results will be ready on line in 3-4 was, being back logged is not an excuse. Please don't disappoint MyHeritage. I'll change my review once I receive my results.
I actually got what I wanted a DNA test it was the emails afterwards that pissed me off, I clicked on the unsubscribe link time and time again. I got feed up I emails and told them to close my account and why. But noting worked still getting spam emails... I don't care if so and so could be related to me. I paid for an DNA test and that all, hard sales tactics.
LINDA was very good. She gave me the info that I needed to solve the mistery. The only problem with the company is that clients have to wait long time in phone to get assistance, but I understand that they do the best they can
My son's DNA results said he was a 4th cousin ( and, no we are not some weird family -- other testing companies got it right).
I started to place an order online and entered my personal information into the site. I had not entered any payment information yet and was getting ready to when - I get a call from them! The rep was so rude and cut me off when speaking and he had an attitude. He said there was a problem with the address I entered which I know is a lie! I don't like them! I don't trust them! And I immediately stopped placing the order! I'll check out myancestry which a relative used and had a favorable experience!
On having wrong email could not cancel my 2 free weeks due to not knowing my password. I had money taken from my account and when I eventually got a call the man was rude and said I would be laughed at by his colleague due to it being my error! He arranged i had access and 50% refund. Which its been 4 weeks now and NO refund after 3 emails.
After a long wait time listening to a person whistling (horrible), Lynda was very helpful & listened to my problem & I'm hopeful that the issue will be resolved.
Answer: My issue was the automatic renewal without any kind of courtesy reminder prior to the effective date, as other businesses do. Advising one year in advance is a poor business practice. When I contacted them immediately on the renewal effective date, they refused to cancel and offered me a 25% discount. They eventually gave me the full refund but it was due to me turning it over to AMEX to resolve. I do however agree with the advice to base your renewal on your own personal experience.
Answer: You can find your site subscriptions via MyHeritage homepage - pull-down menu on the right upper corner button "Settings". Then click on "My purchases", and button "Site subscriptions". Click "View details". The details contain section "Cancel subscription". Maybe you can get advice by mail from MyHeritage support team ([email protected]).
Answer: If you are looking to get as many connections to your tree that you can, use My Heritage. If you want flexibility in who is added to your tree, use Ancestry.
Answer: Dear Jonathan, Yes I have the same problem, I wrote to My Heritage and they have still not responded to my request for assistance. They are highly Sloppy and unprofessional in responding to customer request for assistance. Even though they have and excellent Technical Team. Fortunately I have another Computer with Windows 8 as a result of which I am able to continue working with my Website. But recently a few problems have cropped up with the recent upgrade of the My Heritage Program and have sent in a request for assistance and till today 3-5 months later I have no response. Apparently the company believes that they can play games with the customers. I firmly believe that they have somehow gone into self destructive mode.

Answer: Hi After posting my complaint about MyHeritage on here I got a very quick response from some one called Dave at the company. He told me to send an email to [email protected] and add the subject Dave: sitejabber. He responded a couple of days later - I emailed on a Saturday - and the auto repeat on my subscription was cancelled and my money refunded within days. Hope this helps.
