As of october 3rd, 2017 I have constatnt trouble with the site. Site is very slow, pages not loading, for some reason I cannot change persons data, even if my account is set as admin. Filled a ticket to support, got a screen with "oops something went wrong". So you cannot even file a support ticket. I would file a support for for not being able to fill a support ticket but somehow i feel it would be pointless... When the site is operational, it is very good. So 5 stars for service offered, 1 star for quality of service. 3 stars on average.

There are various reasons why this would happen. A very common fix for the issue you describe is to clear your browser's cache, cookies and etc. A good indication of this fix working would be trying to log into MyHeritage using another browser.

I've been exploring my Family Tree on MyHeritage.com for 10 months. I have found the software easy to use and the data available extremely helpful.
Whenever I have needed technical support, the service reps have been very helpful and solved my issues first time.

Breck was fabulous. After I had purchased 4 kits a friend told me i had not purchased the one she wanted as a gift. So... i asked Breck about canceling the order. He said yes, but politely asked if he could ask why. So I told him. He then asked if I would like to know the differences since they were rated #1. I had multiple questions about the process. He was empathetic, patient and had a smile in his voice the entire time. He even was on a three-way call to when i asked my dad about getting a kit for him. He told me his main goal was to make the customer happy, I am ecstatic. I even bought another kit. Excellent customer service. I hope this goes in his performance appraisal.

Needed Technical help as I had added wrong people to 2 trees and also had 2 other issues; spoke with Estefani - her expertise, customer service are outstanding! Willingly explained what needed to be done in terms I could understand & walked me through the different steps and to help me even did some of the work herself and so I wasn't on hold for any length of time she did the corrections an called me right back to double-check everything was correct. Estefani is a big asset to my heritage and to their clients. She was on the telephone with me for over an hour. My family has ordered 5 kits from them since April of this year with complete satisfaction. Thank you Estefani - you are an angel.

DNA Problem

Have had a problem with one of the DNA samples I returned to the laboratory.
Left a message on the voicemail and have had two responses. One yesterday with Warren, and today with Joy, who telephoned me and the matter now seems to be sorted. I have had a replacement kit sent to me. This I shall be returning in the next few days. Thanks for your help. Clive Pike

Not that great

Firstly, you can not determine ethnicity. I found this out through research when it said I was 100% European. I have pictures of Great grandparents that are American Indian. DNA is not at all accurate in this area. It is ok to help find possible relatives if you have premium package. That is if they let you access it. I purchased premium but overtime I try to access family tree of possible DNA match it says I use purchase premium which I did. This is not what it is cracked up to be.

I'm sorry to read your low star review but I do appreciate your feedback and I will do all I can to help.

When you purchase or upload a raw DNA sample, you are automatically capable of using DNA matching along with viewing your ethnicity estimate at no additional charge once your results are available. That being said in some cases, you may want to add to your tree using a premium membership that allows you to use our smart matching tools to add more family members to your tree. But, you can also add people to your tree manually with a free basic membership. I am very interested in assisting you to use your premium membership and inquiring more about why this is not working for you.

Regarding your Native American ancestry, I'd like to note that your lack of this ethnicity showing in your results does not necessarily mean that you are not Native American.

Each of us inherits about 50% DNA from our mother and 50% from our father. However, the percentages of DNA received from grandparents and further back are rarely divided evenly. Therefore, you don’t necessarily inherit the DNA of a given ancestor throughout the generations that have passed.

Since your ancestors’ DNA is not passed evenly to their descendants, one grandparent might have passed on 3% of his/her DNA to his great-grandchild, while another great-grandparent may have passed on 11%.

For example, if you have a Native American great-grandmother, you might have inherited such a small amount of her Native American DNA that it cannot be traced in a DNA test.

In addition, though you might have Native American DNA, it might belong to a tribe that is not part of the sampling used to build our Ethnicity Estimate. There are more than 500 recognized tribes which are ethnically, culturally and linguistically diverse. However, the majority of these tribes have not contributed their DNA for research purposes which would allow science to establish better ethnicity models. Therefore, the fact that we did not find Native American DNA in your sample does not mean that you are not Native American.

If your Native American ethnicity does not appear in the Ethnicity Estimate, you might also consider testing one of your parents or grandparents as it is more likely that Native American DNA will be traced in the generations closer to the Native American ancestor.

Sorting It Out

Thanks today to Marcus for all his assistance in sorting out my dilemma. This issue had gone on for a couple years without satisfactory 'to me' correction. Somehow I paid for my subscription while in another match/persons account! So I had data access, but no contact access for matches. Warning be sure you are in YOUR OWN account when purchasing a membership - since I wasn't, all my automatic payments were going to another account! Only way to stop it was to discontinue membership which I did, first by email which didn't work, then by phone which did work - a prompt answer too, no waiting. After Marcus listened to my issue and got it corrected, I did sign up for the Premium Plus offer and get my $'s assigned to MY account. Thanks Marcus!

I discovered things on this website that were very intriguing about my family, while attempting to find out more about my genetic profile. Unfortunately, at the time I couldn't afford premium access, but contacted them, spoke with a man named Josh who helped me cancel my subscription for now. He was one of the most helpful representatives I've ever talked to, 100%.
