Horrible Mortgage Company
December 26, 2019

I have several houses and have dealt with numerous mortgage companies and banks. In all my dealings, I find Mr Cooper to be the worst mortgage company/bank. They are also involved with Nationstar, another horrible company. They probably changed their name to Mr Cooper from Nationstar because Nationstar also had horrendous reviews. They were also investigated by several state attorney generals. I'm in the process of initiating a lawsuit against the company in civil court.

House Fire
December 20, 2019

This has been the worst company to ever deal with! Our house caught on fire on Oct 27,2019 while the mortgage was with JP Morgan Chase we sent the insurance check into chase prior to the loan being sold to Mr. Cooper on Dec. 3,2019. Chase sent the funds to this company and now they don't know where the funds are and have us filling out paperwork after paperwork during the whole time interest keeps accruing. Can't get a supervisor on the phone or have one call you back and customer service just likes to punt you to another Dept.

Our home after the fire
Also took all our vehicles including hubbies Harley.

Incompetence
December 11, 2019

After having my loan transferred without my knowledge or consent I was forced to register with Mr. Cooper. With help from one of their agents I registered and set up auto pay. I informed the agent the existing mortgage company had already drafted my payment for December and did not want another one taken this month. Well that is exactly what happened. In my effort to have the payment returned I was told that Mr. Cooper was not at fault and I would have to wait for the other mortgage company to reimburse me, 5-7 business days. I don't know about anyone else but I can't afford two Mortgage payments in a month. Now I set in overdraft, other bills coming due. I was told basically, too bad. I had to get very stern and point out it is in fact Mr. Cooper's fault and I should not be the one scrambling to cover their incompetence. After a very contentious conversation I was finally told they would make the reimbursement tomorrow. We will see. The practice of transferring(selling) ones mortgage without consent can not be in the best interest of the borrower and certainly should not just be sprung on you by email. I guess that is what we get when banks pay off our members of Congress so they can do what ever they want to us. This practice is certainly not in alignment with consumers protection. I will write my congressmen immediately.

They cannot get anything straight. They cant give you accurate info and really messed up my checking account at Cristmas taking 2000 out twice instead of once. Im furious. They also have my fico score 100 points lower than the rest of the entire word, they stated they have to investigate and get back to me in a month. They are HORRIBLE!

No credit report
December 3, 2019

Did not report my payments to credit agencies this has devastated my situation I am. already through. Even after working with them getting to a place where I could refinance they never noticed they were not on my report. And when I was transferred from the refinance department to their Customer Service department they said it would be January 13th before I heard back. I called on December 2nd why so long. CSR. Said it's a very smaller department that works with this and it's a long research to do. So I'll go 2 more months with unreported payments, no cause they have now transferred my loan to SPS.

This company deserves 0 stars they are absolutely horrible! They sent us a check for 10k in March 2019 and decided to send us a $5600 IOU shortage in NOVEMBER 2019! After speaking to numerous people on the phone affiliated with this company they said that we need to take ownership for their mistake and pay them back. SHE COULD NOT HELP US OUT AT ALL! DO NOT TRUST THIS COMPANY!

We just had our mortgage transferred to this company. First of all, I didn't even get a bill until I called them looking for the bill. Then I received one AFTER the bill was already past due. Then, I was told that I could set up an online account to "make my life easier"... and first impressions are HORRIBLE! I made a payment and set up Auto Pay and even received an email stating "Thank you for your payment". Then I go online 7 days later and see that there is a FEE of $35 charged and my payment that I just made is showing PAST DUE! I call the customer service to find out what is going on and they are telling me that it was an "NSF" (which means Non SUFFICIENT FUNDS"). The payment never hit the account and they said that I entered the number incorrectly?! How do you charge me for a NSF, if you never even tried charging my account? The rep said then said it was a charge because my account "could not be found" by the bank? I verified my routing and account number with them on the line with my bank. I never got any notices that they needed to verify any information that was entered, and slapped an NSF on my account... when in actuality, they didn't even try drafting the payment, which they already said that they had received? I asked to speak to a manager, and they said they will put me in a "queue" for a manager to call me in 24 hours? Maybe that's why you don't know how to take care of customers! Managers are not present? They said enter in automatic payment info again. What happens next time they tell me that "The account could not be found"... when they cannot even verify what numbers i entered in? I think it's a ploy to just charge a FEE and just say that I entered in the incorrect information!

Is ZERO stars an option?
November 18, 2019

If you are unfortunate enough to have had your mortgage sold to this scam company or their former entity, "Nationstar' my best advice is to file complaints early with your state AG and. / or Consumer frauds dept. If you happen to be in NY you may also want to contact Nina Pinada at ABC TV in NYC. She did a wonderful investigation of these crooks a couple of years ago and I'm sure she would like to do a sequel.
Forget wasting your time with their"customer service" Instead send all your complaints to their CEO. ( with copies to the AG and Consumer Frauds dept.)

They are the worst!
November 14, 2019

They told me I qualified for a Refinance. Had me do all the things, paperwork. Had me talking to one guy, named Avery. We had it all figured out. Going to out my credit card debt in there and just have one payment. I had one credot csrd with nothing on it. He told me i "had" to do an appraisal for paperwork and it was $500 but no biggie cause I was approved and we would pay it off with my loan and i would get at least $2,000 cash back for the vacation I was about to go on with my son. So I took days off work to get appraisal done and paper wkrk6 together. Maxed out my open card and the $#*!s checked my credit 3 times, dropping my score almost 60 points between maxing the open credit card and chexking my score. Then all of a sudden I was speaking to another guy who I wasnt even told I would be talking to. Then we went back and forth for a couple weeks then nothing!?!? I called, emailed. Nothing! Then I got on my mr cooper app and there was a denial letter on there? Wtf! Now my escrow was messed up too and they want to raise my payments by $150 some dollars! I am refi with abother company right now! Thank god! Hoping someone goes after these $#*!s!

This mortgage company is the most incompetent company we have ever dealt with, we have been trying to add a simple escrow to our account for about a year now and they cannot figure out how to get it done. I wish Citi bank didn't sell our loan to them, I cant stress enough how much we cant stand their stupidity!

Escrow account
November 13, 2019

My loan from Seterus was bought by Mr. Cooper. In the beginning, we were told that nothing would be changed and our mortagage payment would stay the same.
Nine months later, not by a hard copy letter or email, our payent of $2,809 jumped to $3,091 in auto pay. We called Mr. Cooper a couple of times that day and nothing happened. They
Keep spinning the tale as to why are escrow account was low and we need to add an additional $3,000. They said it was Seterus problem they inherited... not true.
The customer service people are not trained on purpose as to spin people.
I will not allow this to happen. I am thinking about a class action suit...
Any of the people on this site interested? Let me know.

Mortgages should NOT be bundled and sold! Consumers should be able to avoid having their mortgage handed over to incompetent, fraudulent morons like this! They have been merrily collecting my escrow for property tax and hazard insurance, BUT HAVE NOT PAID THEM! The late penalties and interest charges continue to accrue with the county, and still Mr. Cooper sits on the money!

I have read the reviews on this site and agree. This is a problem plagued company. Please see my review on the Mr. Cooper site (unless they refuse to publish it because it is unfavorable.) My experience with them is in the past, but it seems impossible to get an escrow balance back to me. I fear they have deep internal problems. When you call them on the phone, they pass you around, but no one seems to be able to make a decision. I believe they are in the business of supporting themselves on the interest they make on all the escrow deposits. I have been waiting about 2 years and 4 months trying to get a $600 refund of escrow owing me after the loan closed. They were unwilling to allow this credit to be applied at closing, which would have been the best thing to do. I may get my money by Christmas. I have a brother who is a lawyer. I may ask them to sue since he will do it without charge, if it does not come soon. I hope their staff reads reviews on this site. What a bunch of crooks and incompetents. I am sure there are good honest people there, but I smell rotten at the top.

Do not I repeat do not sign on with this mortgage company, even if it was free it is not worth dealing with these people who sit in their office and steal your money. I refinanced back in 2018, it cost me *******. 00 dollars to do that with mr. Cooper what a ripoff and they will not disclose what the cost was until the of the process when you are locked in. Buyer be aware of getting ripped off by Mr. Cooper. Terrible customer service, terrible to do business with, and they will rip you off. Richard S.

Finally paid off my mortgage. Of course Mr. Cooper hits me with over 200.00 in fees. I asked for a breakdown of the fees I was told it would take up to 15 days to receive it. Today it finally arrived but still only a partial breakdown of the fees most 3rd party fees charged by companies owned by nationstar mortgage. When I called to get a complete list of fees charged I was told If you read your mortgage agreement we can charge and Damm fee we want. When I asked for the complete breakdown which I was already charged 25.00 for the said you should receive it within 15 business days. Well it's almost November and this started in August. Find a company that doesn't put to the screws to you when ever it can..
