So I sold an mk bag to this buyer who is a new member username auikilifi shipped the item and tracking says it was delivered she don't wanna rate me coz she claimed that she never received the item. And it's been 5 days that the buyer is not even cooperating or responding. If u really didn't received the package u should respond and do something in finding it go to the post perhaps. Mercari is a no help at all! And don't wanna auto rate me so I can get my money! The seller should get the money when the tracking says it was delivered to the right address already! I am very upset about this thing...
Money laundering! DO NOT BUY FROM MERCARI. They are selling merchandise that is not available. They keep your money and you can't get it back. They are involved in money laundering.
The typical buyer on the Mercari site is dishonest. Lies about "not receiving package from USPS" are RAMPANT. USPS will indicate exact date and time of delivery. The buyer then refuses to "rate you as a seller" which is basically their "releasing payment" to you. How then will you go about receiving payment for this "lost package"? At this point MERCARI must get involved. There is no way to effectively communicate with them. It's infuriating. They will not answer their "customer service number". The only email response you will receive in regards to your issue is the generic "thanks for reaching out. We will get back to you shortly"! They do not. So basically I have a buyer that is lying about "non receipt of package". So I am not getting paid! This has gone on for 7 days. Still no response from Mercari. Tomorrow I am going to speak to my postmaster. From what I understand from researching online I can file a complaint against them regarding the "lost package". I will also file a report with the BBB. They already have SO MANY complaints that have been filed. I'll just add to the list. Go onto their Facebook "support forums" and READ all of the scams people are reaching out for help regarding. You could not make these "scams" or issues up. Caliber of buyer - scammer. Management to "have your back" when a buyer scams you? NOT AVAILABLE. You are ON YOUR OWN. You are at their mercy. It is infuriating.
Do not buy from the sellers on this lousy online business site! They say they have a 100% guaranteed return policy and they do not. I want to return an item and they act as if I am trying to get over on them and be deceptive. What a way to treat your customers! I do business with people who have integrity and practice ethical business principles. If you do the same stay away from this site and its sellers!
Absolutely horrible customer service/support. I am having an issue with the merchant in the fact they have a know problem when using PayPal as a form of payment and they are refusing to do anything about the situation.
On their site if you select to pay for an item with pay pal it shows the items as sold out. At which time I moved on to find another item and got the same message. At this point I moved on to another vendor. Later that day I was charged for the two items I was looking at and they were shipped. I exhausted every customer support avenue on their web site and the only response I received was from a face book posting requesting pictures of these items on sat of labor day weekend and indicating I had 24 hrs to respond or the matter would be closed. I did speak with their billing dept and they indicated this was a know problem and I should contact customer service. At this point they are indicating there is nothing they will do.
Ordered several items with good results but then my luck turned. I ordered what was suppose to be a new mens adjustable hat but when I got it was marked youth xl. Of course, the tag was not visible in the pictures.
The seller only marked item as shipped & never entered a tracking number so I guess the company's policy is to offer CREDIT ONLY. Glad it was a small purchase.
Next buyer marked item as shipping but I never received them. Didn't answered emails. Mercari did refund my credit & the extra $ though.
Finally, I found a buyer to actually ship an item which I received ok.
Also, it seems like you can only leave feedback if you accept the item which makes little sense to me.
I admittedly did not read the instructions and listed a gift card. They allowed it since someone immediately bought it. Everything went downhill from there. The buyer claimed they did not receive the card, which had a tracking number. I filed it with the Post Office and they told me the buyer does this all the time. I went back to Mercari and they had removed everything on the listing and were of absolutely no help. They refunded the buyer's money so I was completely out of the money for the gift card as well as the 6.70 postage. Lucky for me, I got some very nice people at the store to assist me in canceling the card. I sure hope the buyer tries to use it and at least gets embarrassed for being a thief.

In one year I had ten sales. So dead its so ridculous. I sell on Poshmark with great success and Amazon far better and eBay is slow too. Just a waste of time and effort. I had a lot of listings and all were deactivated and showed as sold but they were not sold it was a lie from their team. I asked them why when their website is already dead?
My first order with Mercari was a cell phone. I was so excited to receive THEN received a message that the seller cancelled the order because she was unable to ship. WHAT? What kind of nonsense is that? If you're selling and accept my money, even if i got a refund, why are you unable to sell. Not acceptable... Sounded like a lie...
I was scammed by a seller on this site: Mylo & Coco's Finds. They sold me a SONY cassette tape recorder that did not play, did not record, would not even move a tape forward or backward. I then found that I could not log onto the Mercari site to make a complaint. The site said my password was wrong. When I reset the password, they said that one was also wrong. After a week of email and phone calls, they finally told me they'd give me "store credit" to use on the Mercari site - which I can't log onto. Ha ha ha. I will be throwing the tape recorder in the garbage.
So I was just scammed by a seller on Mercari.
The scammer is Kelly Orlowski or Kelly's Closet on the Mercari app. She shipped from PO BOX 2274 Morgan Hill, CA *******. I purchased a pre-owned Louis Vuitton bag from her for $465. Inside the box I received was an LV dustbag and a bag with knives/silverware inside plus some kind of jewelry band from China. I contacted Mercari to let them know and sent the photos I posted with this review They refunded me quickly. However, I noticed Mercari never banned the seller and allowed her to continue selling things. Kelly messaged me on mercari saying I never returned her bag which I told her was not true and that I knew she attempted to con me. Today Mercari has banned me from the site saying I lied to get a return. They also stated they released funds to the seller. My account was not charged but I'm guessing it will be soon. I have never had anything like this happen but will be fighting this with Paypal now since this is complete fraud. I purchased other high end items on Mercari without any issue but this has turned into a nightmare for me. I would also like to add that I had 21 other purchases/sales without any issue and the seller did have 8 positive feedbacks which made me feel confident purchasing with her. So I would definitely NOT purchase any high end item from the site. It's too easy to be scammed! Also, the chance that you will be blamed is very high. I will be sticking to Poshmark or Tradesy which is where I have always purchased my bags from in the past without any issues.

I ordered an item, it was supposed to be delivered today but nope no delivery, no response from seller.
They are just thieves and fraud people.
Please I advise other people never to go on their website.
I do not think they would refund me my money, I lost my 60$ please do not do the same mistake.
This marketplace is a complete joke for one they say they protect the sellers by offering them a guarantee of merchandise or money but whenever something is shipped back there's no option for "i have received my merchandise back and am satisfied" they offer that option to the buyer but not to the seller this is ridiculous, I shipped out a pair of shoes to the buyer the buyer said they weren't up to their liking and sent them back, upon receiving the item I realized that not only did the buyer get a full refund but the box has different shoes than the one I send I figured well it's not hard to distinguish these from the original ones I sent out so i email the rep only to find that they apparently are blind or something and cannot tell the difference it's litteraly an entire different shoes and there reps the use are completely one sided and will not help you whatsoever. So be weary when using this marketplace they will rip you off and side with the buyer
If you ere shopping for art avoid this place. Nothing but fakes and misrepresented junk. Very disappointing.
I sold a item and in the same day Customer canceled order sending it back to me broken I sent a message to the customer never replied back so if you have a Spenseth item the customer that buy it can say The item is defective and return you a broken item and they will return the money back to the customer people be careful
Mercari is a decent app, I had it since the beta stage (which, by the way, was a complete disaster) I think there is a lot they need to fix but for a fairly new app it's so-so for selling.
Just a few things you should know about selling on this app:
1. Keep reposting. There is no way to update your items to bring it back to the top of the list for more buyer potential. If you don't keep reposting, and your item is never purchased within about the first week, it will end up sitting there until the dawn of time.
2. I wish you good luck selling contemporary brands. I've never had much luck selling clothes on Mercari unless it's brands everyone knows (Victoria's Secret, Adidas, etc.) leave the rest for Poshmark.
3. They only take 10% commission! Yay! Priority mail labels are very expensive for some reason. It's $8 for 3 lbs compared to Posh's $6.49 for 5 lbs, not sure why they ever increased the postage as it was once $6 with no issues.
Now for buying on the app:
1. Please stop rating your buyer if you want a return! There is no way for you to get one after rating (which completes the order) Contact Mercari instead!
2. Check the last time the seller you're interested in buying from has posted a new listing. If it's been a couple months, message them first asking if it's still available before buying it. This is because Mercari has an insanely long refund processing time. (and while you're at it, please don't message me asking if it's still available when I posted it yesterday!)
3. If it's listed under "Good" condition, it could have a flaw. It has always bugged me they never made a between for "Like New" and "Good" (maybe something that's been used but has no flaws (Great?)) Read the description.
4. STOP RATING SELLERS "GOOD" WITHOUT A REASON! And contact the seller before you do! We strive for good feedback, and it's very haphazard to get a "good" rating before contacting the seller. Rate 5 stars if you love your order!
Don't get me wrong, I've had a lot of sales gone through swiftly with this app, no customer service issues, but it's not the greatest for selling. It still has countless bugs and overpriced items, but I still believe with enough customer feedback it has potential to be better. Transferring your money to the bank takes a few days but they're getting better at this (used to be over a week sometimes...)
I bought two things, they got the money from the credit card, and cancelled the transaction by themselves, and they are saying I have to wait 10 business days for my money to come back. I don't even know if they are going to return my money, this app has to be delete.

Most of the time it works. The site is definitely not set up for high volume selling like eBay or Amazon - you can't re-use 100% of a posting, and there's not inventory control.
What bothers me
Some of the products I sell are declared as prohibited and pulled off, yet I see the same items stay up for other sellers. FDA-regulated or not, they are the same products that other sells post. All I get is a generic letter, none of which applies to the product posted.
Selling is easy and I had no problem with the app for two years. It used to be fine to get my funds in my checking account, however, 2 years ago I deleted my account because I would no longer be using it. Recently, I opened a new account since I couldn't get into my old deactivated one (I wasn't even receiving a reset password email to get into my old account after Mercari states that you can reactivate an account by logging, which clearly wasn't working after sending multiple reset password emails) so now I can't use my checking account information because it is associated with the other account. They say that they can't deposit into a savings account and that my account could be terminated for opening multiple accounts, which is honestly bull. Any other site would allow you to open a new account after deleting an old one years ago. Anyway, my funds were deposited to my savings even though they state they can't do that and I got some load of crap about using a prepaid visa card to get my funds out of my Mercari account but never told me the steps of how to do that. The customer service is horrible. They hold your checking account info in their system for 5 years even if you delete your details before deleting your account. I will not be using this app ever again for the hassle.
Answer: Please contact the Federal Trade Commision and Internet Crime Complaint Center. (IC3). It is illegal to keep anyones money! The IRS would like to know where all this money is also? Whos paying taxes on it? FTC will get your money! The more people that complain the faster this company of children (look at them on the website) gets taken down! The faster we all get paid!
