I never received my purchase and they won't refund my credit card. This is a complete rip off. They paid the seller so I have no recourse. When I called they said there was nothing they could do.
Mercari allows sellers to cancel transactions weeks after waiting ion delivery with no negative reviews possible to the seller. They do nothing. This particular seller cancels half of their transactions yet have 5 star ratings.

Mercari makes sellers fill in a W-9 form even if they didn't reach $600 in sales, they prevent sellers from sending offers or accepting offers. Also, they put shipping expenses as your profit, although you basically do not see that money and do not profit from them because they buy labels for you. Also, there is nowhere on the dashboard that you can see total gross sales earnings (those with earlier mentioned shipping and fees). My net profit is $370, revenue is $450, and gross is $560 (I found out during a call with a representative). I tried to accept an offer for $4 + $4.99 shipping and Mercari doesn't let me do that. WTH? Do you need a calculator or what? It's still below $600!
This is my first year with Mercari, but I hate it. And they also took all my points! I've made a couple of expensive purchases and collected a decent amount of points for the item I wanted and they just took them away one day. No notification, nothing! Those pricks just stole them. It was about $70 worth.
I purchased a pair of supposedly authentic Apple AirPods Pro. At first they worked for the first couple of days but I was having weird issues. I took them to the Apple Store and I found out they were fake. If I looked them up online, the serial number showed they were authentic. It turns out that serial number was used over 50 times. I called Mercari and they were extremely rude and absolutely no help. Do not buy anything from Mercari. Their items are fake and their customer service is beyond bad. Thank you so much.
I used to sell on Mercari. The site almost always sides with the buyer. I sold a pair of emerald 14kt gold earrings and the buyer claimed they were broken when they were not. Probably buyers remorse. She returned them and was credited. I also tried twice to sell a cpap which apparently was a prohibited item. I only tried a second time because I saw one on the site for sale. I reached out to Mercari because they now closed my account!

I'd give zero if I could. Been buying and selling on this platform (and other similar platforms) for years with little issue. But recently bought an item that stated it was a signed item by a specific person. Received the item but is signed by a different person. I have authentic items with signatures of both, so I submitted a side by side comparison adding specific notes detailing exactly why it was not the signature the lister claimed and return denied (like, within minutes). Mercari closed the transaction with no possiblity of recourse- didn't ask for more information, didn't allow me to supply additional evidence. So even if you continue to dispute, which I did, it becomes "not possible" for mercari to authorize return because funds are released to the seller and they refuse to refund. Customer service gave canned answers over and over and over, refused to escalate my dispute or offer any specificity for the denial. Basically threatened me when I said I would report their lack of adhering to their own guidelines and refusing to address my issue. This item isn't even that valuable, but dang it's the principle of the thing. I was defrauded by a seller and mercari refuses to thoroughly address it. At this point, my only option is probably just to chargeback and get a lifetime ban. It's literally pathetic. Don't buy anything you could have authenticity concerns over from this site, ever unless you personally know and trust the seller. You have no protection as a buyer.
Decorating Bliss store sent me a broken house. Knowing it was broken. And I have proof. I contacted mercari customer service to report my item was damaged. I sent tons of pictures and noted that shipping was not up to par with the packing inside of box. The out come was I got a refund and the product could be disposal of my choice. So I decided to take the pieces out and glue the house back together and see what the results would be. I discovered the house was shipped out broken and did not happen with delivery. And how you might ask? Because there were lots of pieces missing. Now how could that happen unless it was shipped already broken. There was also a delay in shipping item in the first place and seller has the choice to ship even if you cancel which is what happened. Good and bad in my opinion. Good I was able to obtain a refund and Bad because this seller is not trustworthy. I will not do business with mercari after this. SO BUYER BEWARE. THIS COULD BE YOU AND THE OUTCOME COULD BE BAD.
I have placed like 5 orders on this app and none of the orders get shipped. Sellers just waste your time, energy and money, this app has no backup for customers except for wasting their time, I have even trying to place orders since a month and no order gers past the shipping process 0 star app review and service.
Mecari has ripped me off several times on shipping.
I weigh my items carefully and sell on 3 different sites. Mecari is the only one that had ripped me off.
First there shipping is high. Then when it gets to its destination. They say they have to charge me extra.so I didn't make a dime on 2 items in 2 weeks. Ridiculous.

Terrible customer service! Lots of Fake/scammers selling non existent items! Bought a item form a seller that never had the item… tried to get a refund. Even sent it back. But scammer provided a wrong address… so now the return item is being sent back to me again. Complaint many times to customer service and still not resolved… almost 2 weeks now… and was notified they will "REVIEW " the situation again! AVOID AND DO NOT USE!
I sold on mercari for over a year and I got to the point where people would report items I sold as damaged. I sell trading cards. So people would complain the product was damaged even though the card was mint. The top loader was scuffed. So they would get refunded and I got penalized. They get refund plus kept the card. Also people always say they never received the card and get refunds. Even though we don't know if they did because of the horrible tracking they use that rarely works. I don't trust mercari and I won't sell on there ever again. They protect the buyers not the sellers. There needs to be a protection for both. Also they just upped their fees again so not even worth selling items under a $1.
I order a pair of Nike and they were suppose to be 9 men's but turned out they are 10.5 men's /9 women's. I asked for a refund and they said no that fulfilled their commitment. That's bull$#*! when they sold the wrong size shoes. Now I am stuck with them. STAY OFF THIS SITE. THEY WILL TAKE YOUR MONEY
Mercari rips you off on shipping. I weigh everything with two different scales, yet I will get notices that they are deducting more from my profit to pay "extra" shipping, yet I have never once gotten a credit for overpaying on shipping which I know I have. Their customer service sucks at understanding problems and they always strive to NOT resolve issues for a seller, the ones that they are making money off of. I would avoid selling here, I'm looking for more seller friendly platforms to sell on.

I've bought and sold on Mercari a bit over the last few years. Up until recently, I've been pleased. That has all changed within the last few months. As a customer, I've had sellers accept my offers and then never ship the item, so Mercari cancels the transaction after two weeks. Then I have to wait for 5 more days to get my money back. Interesting, since it didn't take them 5 days to TAKE my money. I've also had successful purchases but they take two weeks to deliver. And I've had problems with FedEx delivering my items from Mercari--returning them to the buyer because they said no one lives at my house. Funny, because USPS delivers to me every day except Sunday. And I've had Mercari sellers cancel my order because they have listed it on multiple platforms and sold it to someone else. It's been a sh*t-show lately and I am done. I'd advise you to do the same, unless you want to tie up your money for weeks with a company that fails to deliver. Don't bother--go to eBay where they seem to have a handle on things.
