Was in the market for an Apple 20W charger and purchased one from a Mercari seller described in their listing as Brand Apple. Sent an e-mail back to Mercari stating the item received was generic and not an Apple brand. Sent pictures of the item received next to my existing Apple 20W charger where you can clearly see there is no Apple logo, the partner number was A2350 vs A2305 and an Amazon listing for a generic charger labeled A2350. However, in order to receive a refund Mercari is asking me the Buyer to have a third-party authenticator or the manufacturer confirm in writing that my purchase is inauthentic. This was actually my first transaction on Mercari and will never transact on Mercari again.
I don't remember how I found this app, it was OK at first but then I had gotten the warning for conversing with the seller about my email. After she answered my question about a model number of an item and voluntarily told me she had another one unfortunately, it was not the same one, and I was not interested, I don't know why they made a big deal out of it because the sellers have directly emailed me and have access to that info in any case, I purchased approximately 15 things in a period of three weeks. One of those items was missed delivered as you can see by the photo after insistence my claim I was finally given a credit. Customer service was TERRIBLE They didn't respond but we're very quick to point out the email issue they stopped answering my requests for a status to restore my account and eventually closed it without asking me anything speaking to me about the issue, trying to find out more information and consequently, my credit was also apparently closed. Even though they claim on their website, then a seller has three days to send you the item. Somebody had me wait for four weeks and then Mercari canceled it and that was the item that I wanted the most and waited patiently instead of canceling it, myself, they should pay more attention than that! This is the worst website I've ever seen!
I've never had a problem with eBay or Poshmark.

Item arrived damaged. You must contact them through their app. There is no option for reporting a damaged item, and contact is only available by answering questions. There is no question about damaged items, you you never get to contact customer service. They apparently do not have an office in the US. I would not recommend buying through Mercari.
Mercari left me with $0.00 return and stated it was a shipping charge that took my profit. See photo screen shot of my return profit. Sellers beware!
Unbelievable! Stanley mayhem strikes me! I'm furious! I bought 2 Stanley's and my gut told me not to, but I really wanted to buy one for my friends… 200 dollars and I'm out! No idea how they will resolve this issue but I'm furious for being the freaking idiot who fell for it!

I ordered a hair piece on this site and was sent a garlic crusher 2 weeks later. The help desk said the sale was final and nothing they could do. And of course the seller never communicated with me whatsoever. How is this place still even allowed to sell things on the internet? They should be banned!
Fraudulent company, asked for my social security number and government ID, just to purchase one item. This company is a Japan based company. Also a friend of my signed up, and within a week his personal identity was stolen, and he only provided his personal information to mercari.

Bought a sports hat with Velcro closure on the back. Hat arrived and the Velcro piece does not close properly rendering the hat useless. Wrote to the seller and platform. Seller never responded and platform administers denied my request for return.
I have only been on the app for a month and a half. I've made my sales but 4 out of every 5 I get scammed or delivery was made and Mercari instantly changes their shipping status to edited. After providing pictures proof of delivery they still say I provided a bad tracking number. I suggest looking for any other app to sell because this one is $#*!. Then they gouge you of every sell leaving you petty change for sale.
Ive had good experiences, but the latest one was just awful and I just don't understand stupid people selling filthy shoes for top dollar. I bought some OCs, that looked pretty decent from the pictures for $70. When I received them and opened the box I was shocked and so disappointed, because I was so excited to receive them. They stunk so bad, my cats didn't want to sniff them. The box stunk so I threw it all in the garage. They looked far worse than the pictures, and it was like someone excreted on them. Thank goodness I was allowed to reject the purchase, but as I was looking for another pair, I noticed that these sellers don't try to clean up their shoes! The bottoms are black, dirt is in the cracks, etc. Why would you want to present your product in this way? The pictures I posted brightened up the insoles, they're actually filthy and black. You aren't allowed to leave a bad review if you return the product. Imo, it just allows for this to happen more frequently. You aren't getting a real portrayal of the seller. I learned to pay an extra 50 and get new ones.
I bought an item and the seller does not respond and the customer service says that they have already notified it and but it does not respond either, it seems like those who sell on that app are scams.

Item sold as new. Sent to wrong address. By the time I received it the return and rating window was closed. Parts damaged and worn. Some parts missing. Do not use this site.

I purchased a pair of Boston Birkenstocks on Mercari for a Christmas present. When wrapping them on December 23, I noticed several discrepancies when comparing them to another pair of Birks I purchased. I immediately contacted Mercari, notified them of my concerns and asked to change my rating on the seller. Mercari required me to get official confirmation from Birkenstock stating they were counterfeit. I contacted Birkenstock and sent all requested pictures. I kept Mercari in the loop the entire time. I sent them all documentation.
On December 28, Birkenstock contacted me and confirmed the purchase was counterfeit. I sent Mercari the information.
They said that it exceeded the 15 day window.

Mercari has refused to let me edit or remove my review. They will not post the letter stating the Birkenstocks were counterfeit.
They did, however, encourage me to repost them and sell them to someone else to recoup some money.

I was sold fake AirPods on Mercari. The serial number was legit but apparently had been reused over and over again. There's no way to tell that unless you go to the Apple store. Once I discovered this, I contacted Mercari. No refund because it was longer than two weeks. This site is a joke.
This was my first time and last time ordering from Mercari. On Dec 10'th I ordered "like new" slippers as a gift for Christmas. The slippers didn't arrive by the promised date of "between the 16'th - 19'th." When I called customer service on the 21'st, their rep kept repeating my concern and apologizing, but said that "there's nothing that they can do." I escalated it to the mgr who repeated the same thing and told me that I "should wait a couple more days to see if the package was lost." They offered me a 5% coupon on my next order. Are you kidding me? It shouldn't take 12 days for a package to ship from Alabama to Cali! I called again on the 27'th and was informed that it transferred from Fed ex to USPS and that Mercari couldn't do anything but give me a tracking number, as "they're not responsible for shipping." I requested a refund because the package didn't arrive. They insisted that it did, but couldn't provide proof and again offered me a 5% coupon on my next order. Since Mercari customer service was absolutely ineffective, I called my credit card company which is now opening an investigation. I vow never again to purchase anything from this third-party retailer.
I have actually sold some things on Mercari...small things... Then this happened: I purchased a Vivitar camera in original packaging for my grandson for Christmas. It was in November so it was going to go over the 15 day return but it was in original packaging! So I did it. What I didn't know was that Mercari knowingly sells stolen goods as when I looked it up after my grandson opened it and it didn't work at all it was listed as stolen! Are you kidding me? Isn't that illegal? They wouldn't even hear my concerns because it was past the 15 days. Now that's a lousy company!
