Buyers, items and platform all sketchy. Followed the platform for 6 mos. Before buying. It was all a waste of time and energy. The item and seller seemed fake- all fake.
On my first purchase I noticed what looked like two charges on my credit card for a one item purchase. I contacted Mercari right away, and they were courteous and took it very seriously. It ended up being a misunderstanding on my part, but I was pleased with their customer support.
Consequently, I made many purchases on the site, and the only thing I really didn't like was sellers waiting forever to send out your merchandise and then canceling instead of sending. There is no way at all to leave negative feedback for Sellers like this. Mercari needs to provide a way to let other buyers know that a seller behaves this way, tying up your money and wasting your time. I've never had a problem getting a refund from Mercari, though, for canceled items.
Most of the sellers I've bought from take their sweet time sending out your package. Don't expect to get your package quickly in most cases. It's no worse than eBay, though, which has also suffered from sellers dragging their heels on shipping most of the time.
I order sh figure from this site and got a tracking number and I was told it was coming on the 31st of August long story short it came early I went to my mailbox and there was no item so I contact the seller and they did not reply I went to my post office and they told me the tracking number I received was someone else packages that lived somewhere else in my town USPS driver went back and confirm that none of the packages had my name on it so went to the site and hit up customer service and I was told it was delivered and they still paid the guy my hard on money for an invisible product and gave ne my money back in store credit telling me I need to change my address to a more secure location. I have many deliveires at my home address and nothing was never stolen do not buy anything from this person name phantomRider he is a scammer
Will never order from this place again nothing when right you couldn't even make your seller respond or nothing then I complained. And you couldn't even find my order so I sent you the information and your company still did nothing but say you reminded the seller its time to send it out then your company said i can cancel my order but to do so I need to download your website I wasn't able to get your website so I wasn't able to cancel my order at this time. I had to go threw PayPal just to get what was mine back your company literally sucks and the seller isn't helping you look any better
Mercari is scam and customer service is worst. Most of the items are fake not legitimate. In 3 days customers should check if they are working 4th day nothing will work and they don't responsible anymore,

Look I know that Mercari is requiring this because it's trying to keep out fraudulent sellers and scam artists, but if you're going to have this secret hidden requirement to allow sellers to even accept payment from potential buyers, then put it somewhere on your website where it can be clearly found and understood. I received a text message from a potential buyer telling me his payment was declined and his account would be blocked, as well as my account would be deactivated if I didn't purchase a One Vanilla Visa gift card to accept payments. I can't even use my account despite having it verified through my gov't issued ID unless I have a tiny, meaningless little gift card? For such an overhyped sellers app I can't say I'm very impressed with all the hoops I have to jump through to even sell one item. I will definitely not be using this app in the future.
I purchased a pair of jeans on here the size said 13 when I received them the size was a 9. This was early August it is now end of August and I still cannot get an answer on what to do! They did tell me after I showed them what happened I would get a refund and no need to return jeans which I thought was strange but ok. Well as I was waiting for my card to be credited thatis used it never was so I relooked after trying to navigate their app that I got mercari credits not a refund so I did not want credits I would like my money back noting this was not my fault I would never have orders that size of jeans I do know my size. And these are usually a junior type jean. So I tried to figure out how to send them my concern and could not figure out how to just send them an email you have to go through all these different reasons and pick right one. So I just though I would go through PayPal well I picked the wrong category again and they said since I did that they couldn't help me and then mercari said because I opened a dispute that they couldn't help me. Well F me I guess. So they keep saying they are putting me In touch with their payment team but have yet to have heard anything so just beware before making a purchase there! I have plenty of proof of this also. They just keep emailing back the same responses and I mean literally about 20 or so times and still just have credits to use at their site I feel like that is stealing, they are stealing people's money and it's not right! This was the first time and last time I will buy from this place!
I bought some coins on this site. And later found out they were counterfeit.

I ordered an item that arrived broken. No fault of the seller. The refund is still "under review" after three days. I sent pictures and all the info and there has been no response. An incredibly frustrating experience. I will NOT be purchasing through this company again. NOT recommended.
I bought an iPhone 12 pro max on this website. When I got the phone found out that there a cracked on camera lens. I made a report with Mercari but no help. Mercari help they seller s if the sellers had few items completely sold. I recommend if you looking for something to buy, go to eBay. They have better buyer protection. Mercari is a scam website. They will ripped off buyers. Must beweared!
I recently purchased an item from "Swanlakenyc" on mercari. After 3 days(and receiving an email from Mercari telling me they reminded the seller to ship) I contacted the seller about shipping my item. Next, I received a cancel notice on my order. I contacted the seller again and explained that I did not ask for a cancel…. She said it was her discretion to cancel. I told her it would be my discretion to file a complaint, she then responded "I don't care" and blocked me. I'm assuming she did not have the item or sold it on another site. I have filed a complaint with Mercari…we'll see what they do.
Mercari specializes in vendors who pedal counterfeit wares. Purchased not one, but FIVE counterfeit items, shame on me for not waiting between purchase to arrive to see the actual quality/authenticity of the items purchased. This buyer was buttbit too many times. Word of advice, if you're purchasing any electronics, request the seller to send you the serial number and call the company to verify if that's an ACTUAL serial number for that product. Otherwise high likelihood they're peddling cheap crap for which you're overpaying for the privilege.
There are so many things wrong with this site I hardly know where to begin, but here goes. The first problem is poor customer service. You can only communicate via email. Sometimes you need to speak with a live person. Second issue is a three day window to decide if you wish to keep the item you purchased. If you don't give feedback within this timeframe the sale is complete and you have no recourse for a return. This site is difficult to navigate. If you're looking for something, not only is it hard to find they show you all these sold items. Who cares if it has been sold. If you make an offer and it's accepted you are immediately charged. You have no control of making the payment yourself. I made three purchases. The first seller never shipped. The second seller sold a phone that was locked into the wrong carrier. Truthfully, this was Apple's fault given the IMEI number showed Sprint/T-Mobile as the carrier when in actuality it turned out to be another carrier. It was their mistake. The seller essentially said all sales are final and that I can resell or gift it. After a big to do I returned the phone to her and got a refund. The third seller sent the wrong item. I have spoken. I will not shop here again.

I brought an speaker from them for $139 then text them for return was a pain in the a... at the end paypal dispute and win but I ended paying $65 for the shipping back don't get nothing from this people is a lot better places to get stuff. Out there.
Buyers will damage your item and request for a return and mercari, despite your multiple good reviews of everyone saying that their purchases have been delivered in perfect condition, will believe the buyer and you will be left with a damaged item. Always check the buyer because mercari's customer service is $#*! and they will not defend the seller. Literally why would I sell something that is damaged since that's one of the reasons they could return it?! My buyer wasn't even the same size S why I sold to her and too bad I found out too late or else I would have rejected or cancelled her order. But then again, it will show up that you cancelled an order and work against your ratings. Horrible system.
I recently decided to purchase something on Mercari.com, a quick google search confirmed it was a legit site, so I didn't dig any deeper at the time. Lets just say I had trouble in the checkout process where it kept telling me I needed to redo it, & needless to say I got charged over 6 time for the same item. No records of transactions on the site or app. But my bank account shows the truth. I will dispute these charges with my bank F-them, never again! Stay away from that debacle of a site.
Don't ever use this site. They are scam artists. I just purchased a vintage tee shirt through poshmark for $20 not including shipping which was supposed to arrive in 3-5 days. Nothing yet. Today I see the identical shirt being sold for $30 on Mercari through a seller named Flip. I reported this to PayPal this morning. I decided to to through the sign up process to message Flip, the seller, about this issue and if he knew anything about it. Mercari deleted my message. I sent another message asking why my message was deleted. Nothing. I took photos of a new message with it also being deleted within seconds.
I get that my initial issue is through poshmark but there is something going on that is not right when Mercari won't allow messages to the seller of a product I purchased and have yet to receive.
I bought a listing for 2 dolls listing for says for both dolls. Now seller got a better offer from a different buyer and wants double the price to send me the dolls, I paid $632 now she wants $1,200 so she will not ship my dolls, Mecri won't help, I want what I paid for they should not be able to sale to someone else they should be suspended.
