Seller is backed by Mercari for selling a corroded bracelet and made in CHINA where seller states CHINA is real. If not made in CHINA it is fake. No where in descriptions seller noted bracelet has corrosion and made in CHINA. We all know CHINA made products have been known to be fake and counterfeits. Currently other platforms such as Amazon and EBay are cracking down on such fake and counterfeit items. This particular item, sellers pictures and descriptions was backed by Mercari. Sellers pictures angled differently to avoid corroded area as well as where the product was made from is blurred. Pictures and descriptions of sellers who deceive with pictures and descriptions are more believing than actual pictures and descriptions taken by buyer with the result of my return being denied.

I purchased a LV Sarah wallet damier azur. It was so beautiful in the in the pictures. When I received it, I had a frown instead of a smile. It was dingy and dull. It looked hideous. So I asked for a refund because of that. They denied my refund request and told me the purse was fine. The purse may be fine for you to wear but it isn't to me. So, I'm out of a few hundred dollars and stuck with this piece of crap. Never again! I'll never buy from them again. Beware of purchasing from them. These doctored up photos will have you fooled and there is nothing you can do about it! I uploaded a picture, I was only able to load 1. This is the purse (taken with the flash on) and it still looks nothing as bright as the picture the seller took.
I open up an account with Mercari. Selling a new laptop for $600.00. Then they need $200.00 for activation fee so I sent it to them. They said this was a new policy but nothing was said about all this on there app. Next they wanted $500.00 for shipping fee. I said I only had $370.00. So stupid me sent it to me. Now they want $1000. 00 extension fee. I will be out $1170. 00 because I don't have that. The guy who sent money into Mercari already paid it. They won't refund any if the money. So my only option is to sent this guy my laptop and I will be out of $1170. 00 plus all my time last 5 days trying to resolve this. Never will do business with them again and I will make sure others don't.

I was looking for metallic eyeshadow from watching a pin and was trying to find a brand. Lo and behold I see the same eyeshadow I got from Amazon that is $9 on that site and this site charges double the amount. From experience this eyeshadow is called FANTASY and has lots of colors. It is great colors but they fade easily and it's WORTH $9, not $18. When I see this trickery it let's me know what your site is all about...$$$$$$$$
I've been using Mercari for over 6+ years until now. Last weekend a buyer placed an order from me. I dropped it off at USPS immediately. Then the next day Mercari allowed this buyer to cancel the order… after I had already dropped the item off and shipped it. Now I'm out the item and my money and the buyer just gets it for free. Mercari's customer service has done absolutely nothing for me. They've told me it's on USPS to route the package back to me. How is this USPS's fault? This is Mercari's fault for allowing this policy where customers can scam people. DO NOT USE THIS APP. They have no customer service. Go to Poshmark! I've never had this issue on Poshmark, their customer service team has even refunded me when USPS has lost my orders. Mercari does not protect their sellers.
I ordered an item, it came in not as described, Reached out to buyer, no return communication. Reached out to Mercari, would not help. So I was out over $75 for an item that didn't work. Do not use, they won't help you!
I really do wish I had read these reviews and left Mercari out of my life. Even though it seems to be a fairly foolproof system, it depends on the willingness of Mercari to defend its clients against scams. The communication is good when they are asking for your gift card as a warranty, but fails when asked to refund money to the gift card. They allow scams to happen, even when clients report them happening in real time. Mercari does nothing because they have their money. And stopping scams will divest them of that money on the giftcard. Do not use Mercari, I was charged with a shipping cost of over $500, far more than the items sold, a laundry set, when no shipping agreement was in place. They did not care, it started with the note that a daughter wrote to call her mother about the sale, as pictured, so the "mother" had only a phone that took messages, I never talked directly to anyone, and sent more than 30 messages to Mercari throughout five days to straighten this out. As of now they have not, told me to purchase two cards, so I am out $300 dollars. Do not trust Mercari, it doesnt make sense.
Mercari's website posts that they offer returns in 3 days of you receiving an item but it is not true. Mercari's website fails to allow you to even start a return within the 3 day window. You can click on dropdowns and write a few things but then it won't let you submit. When you try to contact them, guess what? You can't! They have no email on their website. Their return policy doesn't mention anything about taking photos but if you want to return, they ask you for photos but their photo link won't allow you to upload any. How convenient. To contact them within the 3 days window I was able to find support email by googling it. Not on their website. The rep told me I could not return the item because "the transaction had been rated." I had no idea what that meant. I told them I never rated anything. They told me that their system "automatically rates all transactions after 3 days!" OMG! Another rep told me that my transaction was rated the day my package was delivered. So basically no one can ever return anything at Mercari because they themselves rate the transaction preventing any return. WHAT A SCAM! Customer service reps also give you false, misleading, and contradictory information. Some tell you to send photos of the item, others say photos have to be sent within 24 hours. In the end, you will never ever ever get a refund from these people. The store should be shut down. Do not buy from them!
I've bought many items from different sellers, only a few that were good. Most are rude, won't assist if there's a problem and could care less if you ever receive your item and won't refund because only Mercari can do that. I bought a coffee mug from a seller, she shipped it in an envelope with a couple pieces of air bubble which was flat when it arrived. Mug shattered! Took two days for Mercari to respond at which time I was instructed to send additional photos. I was then told I would receive a full refund. They didn't refund me but gave me credit to buy something else. Another two days went by and many emails before Mercari responded. Another seller said he shipped item using slowest method because it was cheapest and I had no choice in shipping method. 2 1/2 weeks later I received item from 3 states away. He also lectured me on the state of the world! As another rater said " where do these people come from" is right! I'm trying to delete my account but Mercari won't let me until all ratings are completed. BTW, Mercari gave seller 5 stars on my behalf and released funds to her after I reported damaged item. Do yourself a favor and stay away from this site!
I would give NO stars if I could! Horrible to buyers! First time buying will be the last! I have bought from eBay 25 years will continue there. They stand up for you as a buyer if something is wrong! Bought a ceramic item and received it broke. Opened the first day picking up from PO. Wrote Mercari they said sorry we don't give money back after 3 days when it was the first day of the PO releasing item to me. Luckily I paid with PayPal and they opened a dispute. Was awarded in my favor. Mercari still didn't refund my money it was PayPal.

So! Of I could have just given them no star believe me I would! After ebay went to hell I searched and found this dumpster fire! Started off okay! Made three good sales and had flawless reviews just like my Ebay store! But like flea bay they have zero people monitoring the site! I listed two authenticated coins and they were pulled for not being authentic! So I had a friend from a certain numastic society check the site! Every coin listed there of the same coins I had up were either fakes or reproductions! So he tried to put up one of his coins and got the same response! We both messaged them and they closed our accounts LOL! So honestly folks if you want a good selling platform look elsewhere! They are even worse than the Bay! Good luck if you are gonna try them
I was a first time user of Mercari. I ordered 2 items from Mercari website. When it came time to get the items the tracking number said that it was delivered. I check all around and they never came to me. I went to the Post office as it was to come via mail and they didn't have it and the carrier doesn't remember a package for my address. I then waited a weekend and on the following Monday I contacted the Mercari help desk and explained what had happened. They told me that they could not refund my money. This was very upsetting as these were Christmas presents for my son. I then went to Pay Pay as that is how I paid for these items to get a refund. I did receive an email from Mercari stating I should have went through them to get a refund and I did respond to them stating that I did go through them first and was told that I was not able to get a refund because the items have been delivered. I have never had these kinds of issues with any company and will NEVER use this website ever again.
I spent over $108.11 buying a porcelain vase. I got the vase and it was broken in pieces! The seller, Agape Treasures, told me to file a return at Mercari after I complained. I took me 20 minutes to find out how to file a return. Mercari refused to do anything about it and simply said they are sorry! This is the worst buying experience. No one is this irresponsible. Ebay has a 30 days return policy and Amazon has an excellent policy. Mercari is the worst. Do not ever buy from this site because the seller and Mercari will not be responsible for your purchases. You are on your own!
1) it's only good because they take lower percentage than Poshmark so you make a little more in sales
2) FOR BUYERS: the amount of counterfeit on this app is insane! Shopping for brands (Jordan sneakers or Designer) everything you see is probably fake. And they take forever to remove this stuff.
3) Sellers scamming you: the purpose of selling used items it to lower the cost a little or just to get rid of it. People are buying clothes off Amazon for $8 and listing it for $30 on this app. People are falling for this all the time! Mercari also doesn't remove these so make sure you look into everything you buy.
They don't follow there own rules. I shipped with there label following all the rules. Shipped with FedEx and FedEx said it was package safe. The item was broke in shipping which is insured and they didnt reimburse me. I'm going to fedex Thursday and seeing if they collected the insurance. This was antiques. Attaching pictures of what was said. And pictures of the items before shipping
The buyer and seller could work things out without the PIA return/refund process, but the site won't let this happen. And there's no way to contact them. All the buttons lead to the same options. I would not sell on here and I'm about to stop buying because it's not worth the headache.
Beware Mercari loves to double your shipping charges by saying the packages are over weight. I weight all my packages before shipping and also get receipts from the shippers when dropping packages to be shipped. I've asked shippers about packages possibly having any extra charges for weight and it's always no. Mercari will charge you saying that your package is 1oz over weight and charge you 6 dollars and up. Crazy beware and do not sell with them. It's just a rip off
I purchased a Roomba i7 advertised as NEW IN BOX. Mercari closed the ability to rate the seller or get a refund after 72 hours from supposed drop off time. Will never do business on this site again!

Whos paying taxes on it? FTC will get your money! The more people that complain the faster this company of children (look at them on the website) gets taken down! The faster we all get paid!
