I would've given them 0 stars if possible. Ordered a North face duffel bag. Paid thru PayPal. THANK GOD FOR PAYPAL. Never got an email confirmation from mercari. Found it to be strange. Next morning paypal send me email stating that I was charged for an item from Mercari. Whites 5 days and still no email about this product. Contact Mercari and they tell me to look in my file for the order purchase. But there was none. Found that strange. Tried explaining that to the customer rep via email and they said there's nothing they can do for me. I contacted PayPal and put in a claim. Waiting now for my refund. NEVER BUY FROM MERCARI. THEY HA E SCAMMERS ON THERE. GO ELSEWHERE TO SHOP PLEASE!
Save your time and money. Bought a bag for my wife to replace one that broke. It was described as the "large" bag but obviously it was not - see photo. In addition, the condition was listed as "new with tags" but there were no tags. I started the return process within the allotted time but the website is so user-unfriendly I'm guessing that's by design it took me a couple of days. No refund. Save your time and money and shop Amazon or anywhere but here. Certainly seems like a scam.
The most unpersonnal and unpractical business making it very difficult to understand how to return items. After a delay of 3 days you can't return or exchange. They send you tons of vague emails to add to the confusion. To avoid by any means
I was with mercari for almost 2 yrs. I thought they were really a good site at 1st. I never had problems with getting paid. Once my gmails became an issue and I lost that gmail, they couldn't help me find it, I know now was a l Iie, google gmails as well told me they also couldn't recover them. I had not been able to make another mercari account on same phone number, but yet, mercari could not locate that old gmail site. Which also BTW, had just shipped 4 items which added to over$80.00. Finally new phone, new gmail I then made a new mercari site, then once I kept trying and being denied access to the money I made, they said a account already exists w/that bank info and all I could do was shop with the money because I couldn't logout of old mercari gmail account, which they already knew about from the beginning, which is the point I am making. I was able to sell, and buy, once I made money, I was then shut down for telling them that I couldn't add my bank account to site. They sent me a gmail and told me they're shutting me down
This app is full of rude and entitled white people who think they can talk to anybody any kinda way but what theyd dont know about me is that i have another account on mercari. I have 2 accounts and if someone wants to talk crazy to me then block me i will log into my other account and cuss them out because I am not the one!. Another compliant i have is how much they take from sellers. The fee is crazy. There is also a poor lack of customer service and they always seem to take the buyers side.

I've had two encounters with this company and both have been horrible. It's not their Sellers, it's their Customer Service Department. They are, bar none, the worst I've ever had to deal with. The most recent sample of their rotten service is I received my delivery and one of the pieces of the set of dishware was broken. First, even to find out how to make a claim was time-consuming and difficult. But here's the best part: When I did find out how to let them know that the item was damaged, I uploaded pictures of the damaged merchandise in the app. From there I received an email indicating to "reply above this line" with additional photos, which I did. Days go by. Heard nothing. Then I get a "We have not received any information regarding the photos necessary for your return," which had the same "reply above this line" included in the email, which, again, I replied to the email. Nowhere in the email did it say that I needed to return to the app and upload the images in the app in order for them to review the damaged merchandise. Then, after a few more days go by, I get a, "Since you haven't responded to us, we're releasing the funds to the seller." What?!? So I go back to the app, back to where I lodged the original complaint, expressed my frustration with their practices and get a refusal to reopen my claim. That's it. I don't need to give my business to companies who offer absolutely NO CUSTOMER SERVICE whatsoever and then intentionally avoid you so they can accomplish their goal of keeping your money. Save yourself the hassle and deal with eBay or Facebook Marketplace. At least there you're dealing with the seller directly and you don't have a company that intentionally scams you.
One of the worst companies I ever used. First they sent me a fraudulent product then they said it would take 5-10 business days to get a refund. Their website says 24 hours within return delivery of said item. I filed 2 cases with them to get this resolved. First one they closed before anything was even resolved. Second one they ignored. I had to go through paypal of which they would not respond to them either. Once I did get my money from paypal, they rated my transaction with the seller. WHAT? I could not change it. They gave the seller a 5 star review even though they sold me a fraudulent product. I can't go in and change it. In a nutshell, they sell fraudulent products then customer service won't help you. Buyer beware. Do not use this company.
I had over 600 five star reviews, and this was my main source of income as a single stay at home mom. I'm not some scam artist trying to make a quick buck. Mercari sent me an email saying they closed my account and I couldn't transfer my money. Over $1300 that I was saving as Christmas money! I sent multiple messages in the help center, wrote emails and even left a voicemail on their BS customer service number, no response! They were closing my tickets as solved without even responding! They were great until this! And I've read countless stories of them doing it to others, all coincidentally when people get high balances. THEY WILL STEAL YOUR MONEY. I filed a complaint with the BBB.
There's zero accountability when this company has an issue a transaction. Phones don't get answered, emails go unanswered and inquiries thru the site takes 2-3 times to contact only to receive a we can't help you response. Doesn't matter what you find on here. It's crap - look elsewhere. I've made two purchases and both were the worst. Having to dispute with my credit for card this last one who sent me a broken item and Mercari bascially told me tough luck even though I alerted them within the specified time period.
I was a Seller and for my first go using Mercari, listed a Brahmin handbag that I had purchased for $125, on sale. Mercari platform forced me to list it for $50 with auto price reduction so by the time I had a buyer, the price was $40. A buyer purchased the bag and I kept getting daily notices to mail it within 3 days, which I did but I didn't know I was suppose to click a button that stated I'd mailed the bag. Two days later, the buyer cancelled the sale. No big deal, I thought, I'd just relist it but the bag was never sent back to me. Two weeks went by and I had to dig all around the Mercari Help area to find out that I had 'buyer protection'. There should be a phone number to be able to contact them, but there is, except it's 'not a working number.' Mercari tried to blame me because I hadn't clicked on the 'confirm shipment'. I have used Poshmark in the past and I guess I'll have to go back to them because the stuff I'm selling ain't cheap and I don't like being cheated!
Purchased item was not as described... item described as "good", however, it contained broken and discolored pieces which were not visible in the photo (on purpose?). You have 3 days to provide a review (who knew?) or Mercari writes a good review. When asking to revise the review Mercari REFUSES. Buyer beware! POC company. Zero stars if available.
Their automated system erroneously flagged random items as fake. This has happened in the past a few times and they apologized for it and reinstated the listings. They subsequently closed our account and provided no reason why. All the items we list are 100 percent authentic. We have perfect feedback score on their marketplace from over 100 sales and 7 other marketplaces including eBay and Amazon. We protested their decision and never heard back from their customer service. Waste of time and effect. You are better off selling on professional marketplaces like eBay, Amazon and Poshmark.
I have been selling on Mercari for about a year. Done fairly well and thankfully, did not have a lot of the problems other buyers and sellers have had until I tried listing some collectible numismatic coins that I bought to re-sell for the Holiday shopping season. My listings were removed and I received a warning message saying that the following items are prohibited from being sold on Mercari: Replica currency, cryptocurrency, bullion, loose precious gemstones, or securities.
I responded to their message that what I was selling was real, legal tender numismatic currency. It can be exchanged at ANY bank or currency exchange. This does not break any of Mercari's rules. I also told them that there are listings ALL over Mercari for silver coins & actual bullion and there is nothing in your list of prohibited items that include the sale of collectible numismatic currency.
They responded that anything that is real silver is bullion and told me to tag every item I saw on Mercari that was real silver saying anything that is real silver is bullion. I sent them a screenshot of the actual definition of bullion. They don't follow their own rules. Whether it is because they don't know the definition of the words used for their rules or something else I am unsure of but they closed my account and deleted all of my listings during the busiest shopping season of the year and I had a lot of sales, 100% great buyer feedback and many watchers on my listings. I will stick with eBay who does seem to care about both sellers & buyers alike.
I paid $40 for merchandise that I never received! The seller never sent it and when I contacted Mercari about refunding the money I was charged. The rep said to contact them again from the email I purchased on and then they would see if they can help?! I actually was using the email that I received my purchase confirmation at. I was like…wait a minute but what does that have to do with you issuing a refund?! Buyer BEWARE! DO NOT BUY ANYTHING FROM MERCARI! You may or may not receive what you pay for. Either way, Mercari doesn't appear to care!
They refuse to refund my money on a vase that was broken in shipment. They delayed the process until we were past the time to request a refund then stopped contact. The seller tried to help...

I found an item for sale@ $79.
I purchased the item. Received communication that the item was shipped. A few hours later received notification that the seller (Jewellsdesigns) cancelled my item. I returned to the site and noticed the seller (Jewellsdesigns) relisted the item for $106.
I messaged the seller AGAIN stating how she cancelled my order and increased the price. She stated it was "listed wrong"
I purchased the item AGAIN...
According to mercari the seller has 3 days to ship items that are purchased. On day three my item still was not shipped out. I contacted mercari and made a complaint... a few hours later the seller CANCELLED MY PURCHASE AGAIN. Of course she relisted the item at $150.00.
Mercari stated they would refund my money but that does not change the fact that their sellers are allowed to bait and switch prices AFTER a purchase is made. Plus wasted my time.

I purchased a item listed as NEW. It came plainly as used without the box, instructions and parts needed to use it correctly. I contacted the seller and they replied that they would send the parts. Mercari has a 72 hour window for returns that I was unaware of until the moment the seller stated. Its past 72 hours so there is nothing I can do about it.
Mercari also AUTOMATICALLY gives the seller a 5 start rating if 72 hours passes and the buyer has not yet rated the seller. You can't change this. The seller waited to respond to me until after the 72 hours passed knowing that he could get away with this and scammed me for $137.50 and I know have a useless item.
Mercari's politely, suck it up buttercup and only resolve was to will give a $20 coupon good for an item over $100 if I used it in the next 30 days.
Now they want me to spend another $80 to help me feel better about losing $134.50. As if I'm that stupid to try again.
I ordered four vintage mugs and the package arrived. I opened and three vintage mugs are broken. Tiny pieces everywhere in the package. What I see from my own eyes, the seller didn't pack really good job. I contacted the seller and she was like oh and acted dumb. I told her that the mugs are vintage and it's hard to find. She should have packed very carefully. I contacted the customer service and they kept asking for the picture and I already sent some pictures in the first place when I immediately contacted them. They said I need to send more different pictures and I was like ok. The final conclusion, they said I have to return the last mug that weren't broken. I was like wow! I have been go thru all hassle for days. I didn't know that they closed the window in two days. It's my first time using the app and I don't check my phone often. Right now I can't ask more questions because they closed the window. I have to return the package back to the seller. I will never buy anything from Mercari!

Whos paying taxes on it? FTC will get your money! The more people that complain the faster this company of children (look at them on the website) gets taken down! The faster we all get paid!
