The first time I ordered from mercari the seller broke my sunglasses and didn't send them. I have ordered since then a few times and every time it's taken about 2 weeks to get a product, it's beyond unbelievable that these people won't ship these things out on time and they lie about shipping them out. This is a fact.
I ve been trying to verify my identity on this platform for the past month AND A HALF and says my id is fake andvthey can't verify my identity saying my STATE ID AND MY SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBER ARE FAKE WHEN THEY ARENT THERE IS NO CUSTOMER SERVICE NUMBER FOR THEM WHICH MAKES ME REALLY SUSPICIOUS TO EVEN LIST ANYTHING SALE ON THIS PLATFORM AND ALSO BECAUSE THEY DONT ANSWER MESSAGES YOU SEND THEM FOR HELP TIL A DAY AFTER YOU SEND IT THEY HAVE BAD BUSINESS PRACTICES AND RIP YOU OFF WHEN YOU SELL SONETHING ON THEIR PLATFORM IVE BOUGHT 3 ITEMS OFF OF IT AND ONLY ONE OF THE WAS AS DESCRIBED AND 2 OF THE 3 SELLERS DIDNT PROVIDE ME A TRACKING NUMBER RIGHT AWAY AND WHEN YOU GIVE A SELLER A 2 STAR REVIEW THEY BLOCK YOU BECAUSE THE TRUTH HURTS AND A 2 STAR REVIEW HURTS THEIR IMAGE OH WELL THEN THEY SHOULD MAKE SURE THEIR ITEMS ARE AS DESCRIBED AND SHIP THEM WHEN THEY SAY THEY ARE GOING TO THIS PLATFORM NEEDS TO BE SUED AND HAVE A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT FILED AGAINST THEM I ACTUALLY HAVE A PLATFORM I USE TO FILE CLAIMS AND I MAY HAVE TO DO THAT BECAUSE THIS PLATFORM HAS COST ME NEARLY 200.00NIN DEFECTIVE OR DAMAGED MERCHANDISE AND IM NOT HAPPY ABOUT THAT AT ALL BECAUSE I HAVE HARDLY ANY MONEY BECAUSE I CAN BARLEY WORK BECAUSE OF DISABILITY THIS PLATFORM ISCA SCAM F**K MERCARI IM DONE WITH IT IM SUING THEM
I had an offer to get $14 off a $100 purchase for a luxury handbag. I purchased a consula purse. The offer was refused when contacting them. They gave me the run around for reasons that were not stated in the offer. Very shady business practices. I recommend to use eBay over mercardi. I have never had an issue using an offer with any other company ever. If you try to contact them, they try to close it without responding to you. It was messaging to me once every 4 days.
If I could give this company zero stars I would. They locked my daughter's account with $500 in it and will not unlock - despite showing "proof of her identity." They have robo responses to all email and phone calls. DO NOT use this to buy or sell anything!
The worst platform to buy, I was a victim of Mercari. They promise to supported me, never happen.

The item I received did not match the description of what I purchased and it was nearly impossible to get help. The customer service tab wouldn't allow me to send a message. When I finally received assistance by going through the account set up assistance I was asked to send photos three times and they were never able to resolve my problem. They also disabled my ability to rate the sender. I'll never use the site again.
Seller canceled my purchase without any note or explanation, and then blocked my account so I couldn't communicate to ask why. No penalty for the seller. Mercari has no customer service. Total waste of time. Reading other reviews, apparently it's common practice for sellers to not ship items on the site. Very disappointing.
This site should be shut down.! I placed an order and never saw it set up for shipping after 3 days I messaged the seller and he apologized and said it was due to a family illness and said he was dropping it off with the shipper in two hours. It's now three days later and no tracking number was ever established I messaged the seller five more times and they never responded. It's impossible to get in touch with her anyone at Mercari to complain or ask about status. I am now trying to get my payment reversed by my credit card company. Check all the very bad reviews on this site before even considering a purchase from these crooks!
I lost $75 when I made my 1st purchase. I returned the defective item. This took me awhile as customer service via email only. Only way you can leave a review is if you accept an item. And if you use Paypal to try to get funds back they state since you did not try settle thru them they will Not return funds. DO NOT USE MERCARI, RIP OFF ARTISTS.
I am joining the high number of people unsatisfied with Mercari. We ordered a casserole dish; the seller packed it in a thin box with little protection. The package was delivered to the wrong address (FedEx issue) so we did not get it on the supposed delivered by date. And, when we opened the box, the casserole dish was in hundreds of little pieces. Took pictures immediately (we could hear the tinkling of parts so took pictures as we opened the box) and sent to Mercari. They refused a refund saying that we were beyond the three day refund period. Really!?!? We didn't even get the package within the 3 days. Fortunately, we had used PayPal and they followed up with a refund. I will never use Mercari again.
I ordered an electric typewriter for my 95 year old father. It was WAY too big and heavy, which was not obvious in the posting (no measurements). I tried to return it, explaining I couldn't even get it out of the box by myself. Stupidly, since I wanted to be able to just seal it back up, I didn't take it out or plugged it in. It being a monster as opposed to a portable typewriter was not a sufficient excuse for returning, so my request was denied. I was angry and frustrated, but since I was stuck with it, I finally got someone to take it out of the box and tried to type on it. It doesn't work. It turns on, but the carriage only goes halfway and most of the keys don't even hit the page! (The packaging wasn't great, no padding, just a box and some wadded up paper, so I guess I shouldn't have been surprised.) I tried again to return it, this time because of false advertising. I heard from about 20 people who all said the same thing: You only get one chance to return, your initial complaint wasn't enough, case closed, second complaint doesn't count. Try to resell it with us! (EVEN THOUGH IT DOESN'T WORK!) We are all just following protocol. Doesn't matter if the product is garbage. Case closed. No chance to review sellers or Mercari. So I spent $147.69 ($45 of that was shipping) on a machine that doesn't work and have absolutely no recourse. I don't even know if the sellers are aware of all the back and forth I went through, but I have the return address on the box, so I will be sending them a letter...
I've been working with Mercari for over a year. Let me say that different, I've been working FOR MERCARI. I'm easy going and organized, yet this company seems to think they can mess around with you at every stage of the sale. They are POOR communicators and don't express much value the customers or the sellers. Especially the sellers!
Too many times, I've tried to write to them to only get a generic message back. It is like talking to a computer writing them. And, it gets you NO WHERE, until hours or days later they decide you were correct all along. Emailing them is like talking to the wall.
Disappointing is the word I'd use to describe their performance. It always takes them too long to get it right. Shows little care for sellers. Disappointed, and cost me money.
I had a bad first purchase experience from Mercari. I purchased a scent that was described as "good". I received the scent and sprayed it on myself and paper to test. Immediately, I detected strong notes of vinegar and sourness. I've had a couple of old colognes go bad with a similar smell so I could recognize it. I also have a sample direct from the manufacturer as a comparison. According to Mercari's terms and conditions, smells are "subjective" so you can't return scents if the description is accurate. My requested to return it was denied, so I will be throwing this purchase in the trash. Buyer beware if you purchase scents from Mercari. Even bottles filled with just water could fall under the "subjective" label.
It's been over 2 weeks now and they still haven't processed my W9 form while locking my whole account and not letting me answer customers even! Just letting me tarnish my name on there while they take their sweet time! They also stopped responding to my messages after 2 days lol what a joke of a company, STAY AWAY!
I sold an item which was irreplaceable and it got bashed in shipping. They say they have a$200 coverage for damage but you'll never see it. All my reviews state what an excellent packer I am but they tried to blame it on the packing not the post office. I just lost out to 3lbs of packing paper and 2lbs of product. I bought a Louis Vuitton bag that they claim was authentic. Had it for one week and the handles fell apart and the bag is a piece of crap and Mercari said because I rated the buyer already they can't do anything about it. It's a fake bag and I spent $500 and they told me to go screw my self! Bad bad bad customer service
Misrepresented a women's watch as a men's watch and then they defended their regular customer, the seller. Never doing business with them again! BUYER BEWARE!
Mercari is not up to par with Amazon and eBay because they don't want to make a commitment for good customer service, for they never answer the phones or return messages on their voice mail, but they do have email support, but their answers are very general and vague, and they will not make an effort to solve customers concerns, for they have a problem with PayPal and most of the time PayPal does not work on their platform, and they have no interest in contacting PayPal to Rectify their problem, and they will surprise you with last second Verify of credit cards when making a sale, for why not verify the credit card before there is a sale, not in between an offer which delays the sale because they take their time sending temporally deposits to your credit card, for it's just poor customer service all around from this company which they could care less to Rectify.
Without a way to report fraud, requiring reviews as soon as you accept a shipment, not being able to properly test or evaluate products, and general 'no refunds' policy. It seems like Mercari as a platform has been designed from the ground up to enable and facilitate scams.
They don't have a customer service phone number! Everything is done by emailing them and hoping they return the email! I'm a seller that sold over 830 items with great feedback! A buyer with 7 total purchases comes along and returns an item ckaiming it was fake! I gave tons of proof as to its authenticity and they still sided with the buyer
